Oh. Well, I admit to it being a few years since I've read a Pern book. sweatdrop
I have all of Anne's books on my shelf, though. (With the possible exception of Dragonsdawn. I lent that to somebody once, and I don't think it ever came back.)

I have most of her books, including her Guide. I'm re-reading DragonQuest right now, actually- which is the only reason I remembered. XD
The Guide I know doesn't say anything about Weyrbrats not being Searched.

Ah, alright. 3nodding Well, searched or not, it's probably still (statistically) easier for a Weyrbrat to become a dragonrider than any other type of kid in the world.

Weyrbrats aren't Searched. <3 Felessan (Lessa's son) states in Dragonquest that "all weyrbrats have the right to stand at the age of twelve" weyrbrats then have a choice; do they continue standing, or do they look for a craft?). Felessan was looking forward to being a candidate the next turn. He informed Jaxom (rather haughtily) that he wasn't a candidate, nor Weyrbred, so he wasn't allowed to touch the eggs. Of course, we know Jaxom never obeys rules--so we know what he promptly did after being told this.
Thali's got all the e-books and most of them hard copy too. XD
Some people are roleplaying the searches for people born outside the Weyr. Say if your kiddo lived at Harperhall--they'd be Searched.

Dystopia Lycanthropia Ummm, maybe near the Hatching Grounds? (Sorry for the delayed response; was out of town and stuff.) Oh, that's fine. I've been incredibly busy the last week so I hardly took notice and didn't at all mind. whee ....not to regress in the conversation, but if you wanted to go with your original idea of K'gus giving Nevan a hand when he was being bullied - that might be more fun. I originally thought it would be out of char for K'gus to interfere, but he has more of a sense of camaraderie with the other weyrlings now, even if Nevan is just a candidate.

Dystopia Lycanthropia Gah, I just decided to post with Nevan in the flight thread a bit earlier, because I really wanted to post there, and I was planning on RPing Farron's Search; meaning, Nevan was the only one of my chars who's actually at the Weyr already. But, we can either find a way to get Nevan and K'gus to interact at the flight (which would be an awesome way to get Nevan to crush on him, rofl) or we could wait until after that RP's over with. Your choice~ I'm cool with either. I'm not sure K'gus is going to go to the flight. I should probably make him go. ninja Yeah, I think I'll just do that. xD

Hmm, I think I'll dump Tolin into the flight thread. O:
I have an image in mind of how he'd act for the initial portions of it. Clueless and bothering an NPC about the specifics of it, I think (unless someone wants to volunteer to be the receiver of his multitude of questions).
