For some reason Clara thought that there were enemies behind her when there weren't, so she stupidly ran out. Two arrows were shot at her CLOSE RANGE and a group of soldiers swarmed her. If she didn't turn the ******** around, she would die. ಠ_ಠ

Ok so charging straight ahead wasn't the best idea in the world since Clara almost got feathered a few times. She got a better look at what was there and thought better of it. She turned around and ran the other way.

There! ******** happy!? I did what you freaking wanted!

My memories are doubting me...

These guys really didn't play around. Annis had been forced to draw her weapons rather quickly, pretty much right after she caught up to the redheaded hammer-slinger, and had been fighting steadily since. There were archers everywhere, but Annis could only grin and let out a breathless laugh as they continued to fly past her, grazing the outside of her arm or missing her entirely. Her movements were too erratic, her speed too high for them to follow her steadily enough to draw a bead on her position. And without her wings out to act as another target, she was essentially one big arrow target that they just couldn't hit. She could only imagine how annoying that was, and just thinking about it made her giggle again, eyes lit up with adrenaline.

"Oi!" Annis shouted over to Horatio. Had he ever given his name? She couldn't remember. Would probably be a good thing to ask him once they got out of this, really. He was decent at this. Annis swept her ankle across that of an opposing soldier, letting him crash to the ground and moving on without delivering a fatal blow. They were starting to get outnumbered to a stronger degree; getting to where they could gain the upper hand again was kind of preferable to dying. "You got a plan? 'Cause all I can think of is to keep moving!" She then proceeded to leap to the side to avoid an arrow zooming right for her face, tucking into a sloppy roll. Her knee hurt when she stood back up, but ********, it was better than losing a wing, right? Her excitement from the fighting was beginning to dwindle, though, as their enemy's numbers proved to be capable of continually increasing. "...G-Gah, just keep moving!"

That was about when they rounded the corner, Annis managing to deflect an arrow with a lucky swipe of one knife, and turned to check Horatio again before noticing the familiar figures of Mia and Lena, the latter with a wounded shoulder. "Oh, <********>, who let the Cleric get hurt? Good job, you guys!!" The Raven rushed forward, pressing back another enemy soldier approaching them before digging in her hip pouch. "It's the only one I've got, so don't let me have given you this for nothing, got it?" Annis demanded. She pressed the Vulnerary carefully into Lena's hands, though, so as to make sure it could not be dropped.

Horatio

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Not long after their forces split, Horatio was joined by an ally that came from the Learanians. He hadn't caught her name either, but at the moment, it wasn't the time for formalities. With a big swing, he brought down one of the archers that was unfortunate enough to get in the range of his mighty hammer. There was a lot of power behind his swing that made it hard to recover from.

She had asked if he had a plan, as the two went running along. "Keep on moving! They can't surround us as long as we don't stand still." He said, going further along with Annis's suggestion. As he continued forward, he too noticed Mia and Lena.

Lena had been injured but Annis was taking care of that with a Vulnerary. In the meantime, Horatio went on the defensive, swinging his hammer to keep enemies off Lena while she recovered. "Don't worry! None of them will get past me." said the redhead with confidence. Hopefully he could keep his word.

Chince was surprised to discover the captain and the bird girl. Assuming they had been heading to the same point, it probably meant there were guards chasing behind both of their groups. She had been wondering and working on an idea.

"Sir," she said addressing Horatio, "are there any other ways in or out of the city? Or perhaps an open area where the archers can't shoot down at us? Someone at camp must have noticed our predicament by now and called for backup." of course if she was any less scared for her life that question would have been gibberish. Thankfully the adrenaline was autocorrecting her.

"Oh, ********, who let the cleric get hurt?"

Mia turned at the sound of the voice and caught a glance of a Laguz- a raven- that was part of their number.... Under normal circumstances she probably would have laughed, but this was not normal circumstances... And a cleric getting hurt was never funny under any circumstances.... It was a relief when the raven pressed a vulnary into the cleric's hands.... the trueblade had been so eager for battle that she'd neglected to bring anything along in terms of healing... but she had three different swords on her- that counted for something.

She continued to closely defend Lena as she patched herself up, using the windblade to her advantage and maximizing distance between them and the enemies.... But then the leader of their group leaped in with his hammer and started swinging defensively.... Which was all good and well for keeping enemies away.... But it was keeping enemies away from her too. Mia made a face.

"Hey boss! Quit bein' such a hog!" She exclaimed, jumping into the fray next to him and helping out; she'd been more thinking about fighting than strategy, but it worked out well. Her blade moved faster than Horatio's hammer, but his blows were much stronger. Working together they kept the enemy at a distance rather well.

Had she not been so busy with fighting and enjoying herself, Mia would have likely been very confused at Chince's now perfect dialect.... As it was she didn't even consider it, instead looking at the girl and smiling as she said, "I think there was an underground system to this city when I was studying the layout."" ... Or maybe that was another city... The trueblade hadn't spent too much time studying since she'd shown up at this new world.... Fighting was just much more fun.

"I cannot bear to watch others come to harm...

Lena looked around at the group. Even fighting so hard to make sure she didn't get hurt again, they did not look, thankfully, injured. She felt guilt engulf her. Through Annis' kindness she felt like new by the Vulnerary, but that was taking away an important item one of the others could have used if she wasn't around to heal them. Ziaram had even pointed out that she had told him not to get hurt, yet the only one wounded.

"Oh, no! Thank you deeply, Annis, but this was from my own foolishness. I had attacked someone so far away I left myself open. I am so sorry I cannot even protect myself right." she said, looking at Ziaram a bit more than Annis. "I-I feel perfectly well now! I can heal and fight now!" Lena said softly still, but loud enough that it was an equvilant to someone like Mia yelling.

"Before we run, please tell me if you are at all hurt! I brouht my Hammerne with me for weapons, as well! And a Physic and my... Warp... staff..."
Lena trailed off thinking more about the warp she nearly always brought with her. If they needed to run, she could very well send them somewhere far enough off, but she would be unable to warp herself.

"Sir..." Lena began to Ziaram, still never having obtained his name, "Do you think there's a good plan to be made with my Warp and Physic staffs?" Lena would hate to send them someplace dangerous, but if anyone one got hurt, she could heal them at a distance with Physic. Plus, she trusted that Ziaram was the type to make a fairly solid plan for her. Lena didn't just want to be the troublesome cleric that could only heal, especially seeing how she managed some strong spells before he injury.

... knowing I have the power to help."

Annis let out a sharp breath from between her teeth. "Don't mention it, kid. Just don't get hurt again. That was the only use I had left in that bottle." She drew her knives again and looked around at the city. "Well, there are archers everywhere, Mia's driving back the soldiers with Mister Estarcian, and--wait, ********, did you just say a sentence with proper grammar?" Annis paused, looked at Chince, then shook her head. "Ah, forget it, not important. If you warp someone, that magical light is going to be a big target for all the archers. If we could get rid of them, though, you could try to Warp someone far enough away to get out of the city, or I could try to fly off to get more help... warn the others of what's going on..."

Annis paused, her wings twitching slightly on her back. They were aching to spread out far, lift off the ground, but as soon as she got into the air, she would be sniped right back down.

...Or would she?

Annis couldn't help but consider the idea, rolling it around in her head. If she could draw all the arrow fire, dodge it and keep it trained on her, then the others would be able to much more easily take out the remaining soldiers. It'd be risky, but...

The Raven looked around at the others. "How many archers are left? They're the biggest thing keeping me from getting off the ground, and if I can do that, I can scout further into the city or get out of here to warn the others and find a weak point in the walls." She paused to rush forward, slicing down a pair of swordsmen rushing at their small cluster, then flicked blood off of the blades of her knives, grinning in... was that excitement again? "Cleric. I don't remember your name, sorry. How far can that Warp staff go, actually?"

Chince was looking up and counting. It seemed that there were at least eight arrows volleying through the air at any point in time, usually landing in where the group had just been standing, or plugging itself into the wall. At any given moment, as far as she coud tell there were enough archers to achieve a continuous fire. The counting and thinking was slowing down her energy, bringing back some of her old accent, but not all of it.

"Cleric, is warp able to teleport up?" Chince wondered out loud. She had never heard of anyone using a warp to get a Laguz airborne, but if it worked, the confusion would hopefully draw the fire away from her long enough to gain altitude without risking getting shot from take off.

Regardless of the answer, Chince moved in to gaurd Lena's flank as two gaurds ran through the side street. She drove her sword through the street kicking up some dirt and sparks, then burst through, dispatching one with her sword while trying to trip up the other with a well placed kick. As soon as she had her sword back out of the first one, she ended the second.

She found it odd that there was no longer any emotional objection, or conflicting morals to cutting open another person.

Ziaram

You may call me useless for the fact that I am learning swordsmanship with my left arm

He looked over at Mia when she mentioned that he reminded her of someone from where she was from, and started to wonder why she had brought that up. However, his thoughts were soon cut off by the fact they were still under attack. Though they were soon joined by Chince, who had run from where she originally had been to join them. That really hadn't seemed like a smart idea, since they were now congregating in a large group. At least there are three others that aren't here, so we aren't all together.

Though Chince had asked Ziaram where they should meet up, there was no reason for him to answer really since around the corner came Annis and Horatio. Annis went over to take care of Lena, so he took a look at their surroundings. We have plenty of force down here to deal with these soldiers. However...those archers.

His attention was taken away from the thoughts of the archers when Lena brought up the fact that she had a warp staff and a physic staff. That got him thinking, and a smile came to his face again. "That may help out after all. If you can get two of us up onto the walls, we can handle the archers, which can lead one of us to get out there and calling for reinforcements." Of course, by one other he was talking about Annis.

He looked over to Mia, watching her fight with the windblade she had. Damn do I miss having a ranged weapon. No matter, I'll get one again someday. Right now I have to focus on using the sword I have. Turning back to Lena, he motioned up towards one of the houses. "If you can, get me up there. I'll be fine facing off against the archers up there."

My memories are doubting me...

There didn't seem to be very many enemy soldiers left to fight, Annis reflected as she flicked excess blood off of the blade of one knife. The girl from before with the funny sentence structure - who was now speaking quite normally, which in itself was extremely weird, who would ever think that a person speaking normally could be so bizarre? - was already attacking what few enemy soldiers were left on the ground, sword flashing in the noonday sunlight.

The black-haired punk was there too, leaping in on her idea. Ah, well, it was decent enough to get two people up, anyway. And if she could teleport up Ziaram and draw the archers' fire, if necessary, she could just fly up and help him finish them off while they were distracted. Annis neatly dodged an arrow flying for her shoulder and pushed forward, propelling herself across the ground with a powerful leap before digging both knives into his throat. She neatly pushed away and yanked her daggers out, avoiding the spray of blood before turning to face Mia and Lena. "Get him--" she said, pointing at Ziaram with one knife to show her intended subject, "--up onto the roof so he can take out the archers up there. I can't fly unless he draws their fire, or I'll be as good as dead and my wings turned into a pincushion. We can handle the rest of the soldiers down here while you do that."

She turned to the rest of the soldiers. There seemed to be so few of them now, still fighting back against such a little attachment of Learanian soldiers. A grin of near-maniacal glee spread across her lips, knives glinting in the light as she pushed forward again, dipping and ducking and slicing sharp steel through cloth and flesh. "C'mon! You guys can't put up a better fight than this? Guess Mordache's training leaves a lot to be desired, ne?" she spat once against the ground and rubbed a gloved hand idly at a small cut across one cheek before parrying a sword thrust. A nice, square kick put some good distance between him and herself. Someone else could finish him off, Annis was busy dodging arrows now, giggling again to herself as they all seemed to be just unable to hit her anywhere near her wings.

What a bunch of pussies.

Lena took a deep breath and nodded at her companions. The buildings were tall, but she had been able to warp Julian through a forest long ago, so she had faith she could get Ziaram up there safely.

"Relax your muscles." she commanded getting out her dtaff and paralleling it to Ziaram's body. "If you ever get hurt, don't hesitate to call out. If nothing else, be sure to distract them and Annis with hopefully be able to get some." with that said she turned to the laguz and the swordsman. "Be careful."

Lena then warped Ziaram to the building roofs before he could say anything back. All she could do then was keep a watchful eye out for her companions and strike some enemies with a few spells.

... knowing I have the power to help."

He nodded to her that he would be careful, and the next thing he knew was that he was on the roof of a building. So far it looked like the plan was going well. All he had to do was draw the archer's attention towards himself. Well as long as he wouldn't turn into a pincushion, things would go well.

Facing the closest archer near him, who was a little shocked that someone had appeared right there, he slashed diagonally down the archers chest, dropping him right there. He continued to charge at the archers, doing what he could to dodge arrows being shot at him and slashing at their arms, chests, or any other spot he could hit. He just had to continue till they were all gone.

Annis grinned, laughing breathlessly as she flicked more blood off of her blades with a quick jerk of the wrist. "Ha-ha! You don't have to worry about me too much, kid!" She was cautious, though, and backed up near the rest of the group again as Ziaram was teleported instantaneously from his position on the ground to the nearest rooftop. She let him work for a few minutes, cutting through archers like they were made of tissue paper. He was working quickly, and the volume of arrows flying through the air was severely decreasing... Annis grinned again, the biggest s**t-eating grin she'd shown that day. Time to die, ******** wings unfolded as she leaped up into the air, and with a powerful beat, she was rising up. Her wings cleaved at the air as she rose higher and higher, up to the rooftops, and she was sweeping across the remaining archers, both daggers flashing in the light. She had really picked up speed now, so Annis simply had to hope that they couldn't fire off before she could finish taking out the few remaining archers on those rooftops. And once they were gone, they should all be gone.

The Raven grinned back at the others, neatly landing on the ground a few minutes later. She used her thumb to rub a fleck of blood off of her cheek. "That should be all of 'em, right?"
