Christof was still sidling his way towards Sin, a look of intent in his eyes as suddenly his path was cut off by a kelpie. The bubbly expression quickly popped into a scowl as he focused on Calder. What, now? But he needed to ask the demoness to be his partner before anyone else whisked in...
He sighed and gave a snort as though demanding he say it right then and there if it really couldn't wait.

Calder watched as his friend scowled, causing Calder to have half a mind to just forget what he was about to ask and go sulk with whoever he managed to get paired up with, but..NO. This was important! It was now or never, and a opportunity to test his friend like this wasn't about ot happen just any old day now.
Standing, he noticed that Christof looked set on staying there. He wouldn't move. At all. "Why aren't you moving? I...I can't ask you..." He looked around, very aware of everyone else around them and leaning in. "...I can't tell you here." This close, a flush was evident on the pale boil's cheeks. A blush - from a boil who had no problem stripping down during Truth or Dare and who usually had no problem being loud and attracting attention. Ears turning a bit down, the kelpie glanced around several more times, a little on edge. Was he nervous? NO!
Maybe.
...just a wee bit.

Still looking exasperated, the hunchback made a "Get on with it" sort of gesture. Was Sin looking this way? He shifted to try to see around Calder anxiously.

Oh great. Chrsitof wasn’t even budging. What if someone else heard, but now he was waiting for it and he couldn’t’ back out now! Glancing, Calder flushed more, starting to twist his fingers. Looking about and chewing on his bottom lip as he wringed his hands. “So …like, you’re my best bud and all and this is a whole lesson on trust and everything and that got me to thinking about who I can trust here. Ya see, I don’t want to trust just anyone with this or whatever may happen, not that anything is going to happen. The professor said we’re all safe so this shouldn’t be a serious thing or anything. Like, really fun without the whole stress of competition against your owners because they have partners and will be fine and not hate you for just finishing class. So since this is a lesson and classwork and important, I thought you might want to be my partner because I’m really good with swimming. Now you’re probably not and that’s not a bad thing because you don’t have to swim because….well, ya know that one time you broke your foot? I wasn’t there, but you thought I wasn’t there but I actually was. Cause…”
Calder’s words were more than just over the place and considering how well he could speak and express his thoughts on most days, this was something. Having given up on twisting his fingers, he now went to taking a lock of his long hair and petting and twisting it as he spoke. “…because that time you were with some horse and you thought it was a horse and you seemed to have a really good time racing and everything. I thought that you might be okay with that happening again, but more like right now cause you see that really wasn’t just a horse because it was actually me…and I don’t know if you ever wanted to do that again because if you did, we could do it now and see if you were okay with it because if you were then maybe we could do it more again sometime but ya know only if you wanted to and that’s like no pressure on you or anything cause I don’t want to not be your friend and I’m not sure if you’d just like to ride a horse instead or maybe just dragons since that’s seems to be the it thing and I’m not really that amazing looking compared to other monsters and that might embarrass you.” He pulled on his hair a bit, having spent most of the time looking around, at the ground, at his hair and occasionally glancing at Chrsitof.
“….so maybe if you want, you could be my partner and…ya know… ride me.”

Christof stared. And blinked.
That was a lot of words.
And a lot of things he already knew. Did Calder... REALLY think he was a moron? A random white horse in the middle of the night wearing a tarton scarf. Was he kidding?
Just... humor him.
He gave a pained glance from where Sin still stood, alone, without a partner. Would Mistress be jealous?
He glanced back to Calder's meek but hopeful expression and sagged.
Probably not.
With a sigh and a roll of his eyes he nodded. Fiiiiiiine.
If it really meant he got to go ZOOM again... that made the whole class assignment that much more appealing.
Scruff yipped at his ankles, happily trying once more to gnaw on Calder's hoof in approval.

Calder stopped messing with his hair and looked, blinked, and then tested if it was true. "Really? You don't mind or anything?" The Igor probably had no idea how important just agreeing had been to the kelpie, but he gave a soft, meek smile unlike the large, spontaneous ones he often had.

Partners, huh?
Astra had listened to the instructions for their class, looking at the courses and then at all the other students. She had just enough time to consider which course to take, when a mental scream caused her to jump out of her skin and take to the air before realizing what was going on. Riley was appearing very upset about the tentacles, and for a minute she remained confused until the situation seemed...somewhat resolved? She wasn't sure, but the gesture riley made didn't seem reassuring...
But now she had a problem to consider. Which route would she take? The air one seemed obvious, but considering Ryu didn't have wings, she doubted he could fly. And carrying him across a chasm when they may have to fight didn't seem like a good idea. And even if he could...it would be tiresome for her to try and get him to cross off his own accord. So she would have to take the land route...
Another glance around the class made her even more nervous. She needed a partner for this, so who could she go with? The people she wanted to go with had already chosen or were about to, and she didn't know anyone else. She wondered glumly if everyone but her would get a partner, or if anyone would be upset with chosing her...Hmph! it didn't matter, she figured it out somehow!
((Feel free to partner up with Astra if you'd like, I don't mind at all, but I'm only able to post during the night until the weekend so I'm not avaiable during the day ^^ wink )

Alcyone milled about trying to get Eri to hurry up. Why did she have to get such an apathetic minipet? He couldn't talk but it was obvious what kind of message he was sending her. Glaring at him, Alcie turned her attention to the professor as he told them the instructions for this class. Those nauticals seemed... interesting but she definitely didn't want to subject Eri to getting his FEAR sucked out of him.
Glancing at the map again, Alcyone wasn't sure which path she was going to take. Obviously she was more comfortable in the water but she didn't know any other students that would be interested in pairing up with her. So she was guessing that she was going to end up going the land route. Looking away from the course, Alcie knew that she needed to find a partner. She scanned the group of students and she noticed Sin in the distance and waved to her fellow ghoul. "Hello there Sin!"

West took note of Jericho's glare and growl, trying all the while to look as disinterested as possible, and doing so with a moderate amount of success. Very curious. He hadn't had much interaction with Calder, but if the dragon didn't like him... Well, it was something to think about, at least.
"Yep," West replied, vaguely implying he'd watch Jericho's back as well. He glanced at the firebreathing cat with about as much approval as he bestowed upon any minipet, which was to say not very much. At least it was angry.
"Cannit fight?" he asked, gesturing at Flamethrower.

Almost immediately, Aksaja had thought of asking his fellow dragon about joining him on the air course, but apparently Jericho was a bit faster on the uptake and already asked West. Theeeere went that idea. Aksaja sighed, as he felt like they would have made a good team. Looking around with a slight frown, the lightning dragon wondered who else he could ask. He didn't want to swim, and going by land would surely be slower than flying and thus allow for more attacks. Still, if there was no other choice, he'd take that. Siiigh.
Riley was out, since Malodore was here too and it was probably a foregone conclusion that she would team up with it . . . once she was done freaking out, that was. As for other flyers . . . .
He sort of remembered meeting the tiny fairy-like girl, Astra, but he had no idea how fast she could fly and her small size seemed like it might be a factor in that. Ren and Sin were already paired up, as well as most of the others. But, oh there was Israfel. Aksaja really had no idea if those little wings of his meant he could fly or not. But . . . might as well ask. Sure, it was blunt but hopefully the Siren remembered him from the boats - thought Aksaja definitely knew better than to suggest the water course to him thanks to that lovely trip.
"Israfel," he called, waving a bit. "Can you fly, or are those just decorative?" He gestured toward the small-ish feathered wings the other sported on his back.

"Yeah he can. Though he's probably used to fighting off cannon cats," Jericho nodded. Even if they were just cannon cats, it was still some experience. Experience he was sure Riley was appreciative for. At the mention of the cats, Flamethrower looked around, as if expecting some in the area. When he saw none, he went back to squirming and attempting to gnaw at his handler's fingers in order to be released.
"What about yours?" he asked while looking at the one West had brought. Soon after asking, he glanced to the side to see Israfel in the area. Birdbrain seemed to be eying the aerial course. If that was the case, the dragon would have to make a note of keeping an eye on him if possible. It would be nice to see if his little flight student was getting anywhere with the lessons they had been having.

Trust? Trust...oh...that wasn't good. Not that Pantaloons didn't trust her, her minipet obeyed her...most of the time...and he had always trusted her to keep him safe, fed, loved. She trusted Pantaloons to be on her side...even when he did cause problems. No the bond with her minipet wasn't what worried her, it was the bond with her fellow students. Riley would have been Sin's partner of choice, Riley was a good Demon, a true ally, a friend, she could be trusted. Except she knew better then to even ask, Riley would partner with Malodore. Her eyes slid to Christof and she felt a slight frown form on her lips, she wanted to trust the hunchback. Christof had been there with a helping hand during the Christmas fiasco, he had set her date up with Barth for Scarentines, he was a good igor...the best. Sin wanted Christof on her side badly, but it seemed his loyalty to Riley held him firm, she had started to think he wasn't going to accept her offer.
She watched as Calder motioned Christof over...Calder wouldn't be a bad partner, she had helped him with his drowning lessons after all. Maybe she would ask him if he felt confident enough to take on the water...nope too late. She watched as Christof and Calder paired off and sighed to herself, why was her pool of trustees so tiny? She liked a lot of her classmates...she just didn't trust them, maybe it was a demon thing?
Then she spotted Alcie and smiled walking over and glancing at Eri. "Your mini make you late again?" She shook her head and gave a wry smile before casually tossing off an offer to partner up. Sin wasn't about to sound desperate. "Care to stroll the land lane with me? I'm sure we can handle it...we've always managed everything else fine together."

Giggling slightly, Alcyone nodded after tossing one last glare at Eri. "Yeah, he just likes taking his time even if it makes me late." She really hadn't seen Vivi or anybody else so catching sight of Sin sent a wave of relief through her. Trust wasn't something she thought about too much since she kept most people at an arm's length anyway. Everybody was pretty much on the same level except for Sin since she knew her best. "Sure. I don't know many students that would be eager to take the water route anyway and I can't fly anyway." Hopefully her clumsiness wouldn't be her downfall in this class.
"I've got your back!" Winking playfully, Alcie looked back out to the course and wondered how those nautilus things attacked. The idea of something being able to suck FEAR out of her minipet scared her greatly. Eri wasn't exactly the perfect mini but she still cared about him. Having him around had a comforting effect on her for some reason. He didn't speak much but when he did, Alcie always seemed to feel much better.

Sin smiled warmly at her friend glad that she had agreed to go by land. Oh sure Alcyone would be right at home in the water and Sin was a fair enough swimmer but against tentacles that sucked the fear out of you? Forget those odds. Better to stay on land especially since from the center path they could technically jump either way if they really had to. Sin was still a young Demon her wings at current were pretty useless except for balance and giving her little pushes. She glanced nervously at the pit and decided if they were being pushed either way she'd rather fall in the water.
Her gaze moved back to Alcie and then Eri. "Don't worry Pantaloons will keep Eri safe, won't you Pantaloons?" She tickled the chubby Unmentionables tummy and then let him go. The impish minipet hovered in the air and eyed Eri a long moment before nodding and grinning. He moved his hands in a triangle shape...no not triangle...panty a panty shape.
Sin sighed and then laughed "Yes yes if you do good I'll re-open my dresser..."

She felt...almost out of place just standing there now. Her arms cradled her mimic to her and made sure to keep him hidden from sight of any that would be frightened or unnerved by them. BB was 'lovingly' nibbling on the fingers of one hand while she let them trail along his little fluffy tail. LW just stared off at the three choices of paths they had. And then all but jumped out of her skin when their professor appeared on a...purple tentacle? Jacking hell! So they were having a class that was like a survival test! The she-wolf's shoulders drooped. Well, she could try and tackle this on her own...at least that way she wasn't-
Oh great. They needed to find partners? Her mind immediately thought of her best friend. But, after glancing back over at the boils, she crossed him off her list. The puppy obviously needed him more.
LW sighed and looked down at her pet. He was glaring at the tentacle that Professor Malcolm sat upon. So, gryphon out, she had two options: the land path or the...water...path. Water. Violet eyes lit up for the first time since she had stepped into this room. Looking back towards the boils, her gaze went to one particular nix. Well, since Ren and Jove were taken, that meant Gabrian was all hers!
