He was right; they weren't the right sort of mushrooms. Ren frowned at them briefly, tilting his head as he scrutinized them more closely. Unfortunately they weren't glowing like they should have been, which meant that they were the wrong kind. But at least he'd gotten a little bit of interest from Jove; his little brother had given them an appreciative look before trotting away, and it made Ren stupidly pleased.
Around him a few others were gathering up more mushrooms, and it seemed as if some had found a few that Jove liked. Junko he saw hand some to a pleased looking Jove, as well as Tomoko and Tess. Ren glanced down at the mushrooms still in his hand, then gave a shrug, tossing them over his shoulder as went to find more. Even if he was having slight difficulties here (but only slight) the fact that people had found mushrooms for Jove anyway was a pleasant thought. He found a few more mushrooms underneath a wide oak tree that might be it, but he didn't really look closely at them.
Ren stepped over to Tybalt, draping himself obnoxiously over the black dog's shoulder to peer down at...well, it looked like a mushroom.
"What is that?" he asked, glancing over at Jove and holding the mushrooms out to him, raising an eyebrow as if to silently ask What about these?
Then he got a closer look at said mushrooms. And let out a muffled snort of laughter, which he hastily covered up, glancing back at Jove. He shook his head quickly, then gestured to Tybalt, mouthing HE FOUND THEM, NOT ME and stashed the mushrooms behind his back, away from the prying eyes of younger boils who did not need to see...well, that.

Jove took a second to watch Tomoko playing with the ball she always seemed to carry, holding it up to the mushrooms and giving it a shake. The pup was curious about that ball, why she always carried it around and why it shined and sparkled, but he knew better than to pry into things that could be very sensitive topics. His tail wagged, pleased she seemed to be enjoying herself at the moment.
Trotting back over to where Ren and Tybalt stood, he eyed the sad little mushrooms the black dog had carried back. They were... sort of mushrooms. The pup eyed them like he would expect them to sprout spider legs and walk right off the other boil's hand at any minute.
He looked over at Ren to see what his brother had found, except his brother was now trying not to laugh. And not showing him the mushrooms. The pup frowned. He leaned over, trying to peer around the gryphon's side to see what it was he apparently wasn't going to be shown. He whined at the evasion, and grumpily trotted off to someone who would be more forthcoming.
Seiji. The other ghost may have been overprotective at times, but he was very forthcoming! Crouching down next to the thin, spindly mushrooms, Jove snorted once he recognized them. Grabbing the whole group of them in his hands, he gave an uncharacteristically firm tug, the patch of mushrooms resisting in earnest. When they finally came out of the ground, Jove fell right back onto his tail. Then he let go of the mushrooms, which were attached to the head of a squat, ugly toad, and watched the thing hop off with an amused ear-perk.
Then he trotted back over to Ren, to see if his brother would show him those mushrooms now!

Sheridan was glad that Jove had liked the mushrooms he'd found, or at least he assumed he had since the little foxfire had carried a handful off to the wagon, though he was still uncertain what made them the right or wrong mushrooms or if they were the type that glowed.
Maybe he should ask, he almost did so, expect that his attention was suddenly captivated by something else. The little kitsune girl, what was she holding? He blinked, staring at it from a distance, a curious tilt of his head. Fascinating.
Hmm?
A presence felt at his side, his head turned, a curious blink. Briefly he wondered about the girl's legs, or lack thereof, the dismissed the thought.
"Hello."

Tybalt realized too late to see what the gryphon was doing and ended up only making low grumbling sound of annoyance when Ren draped himself over his shoulder. He could tolerate him for so long, he supposed. However, what he couldn't tolerate was the laughter. For some reason, it sounded annoying. More so than usual. Like when someone laughed at an inside joke, or a joke that you just simply did not understand, and in his case, it was the latter.
"What do you mean what is it?" He asked confused, but realized it was better not to ask and instead deliberately moved out from underneath Ren, without warning; allowing him to fall if he wasn't quick enough to catch himself. Fine. Whatever. He would just go look for a different one. Ren could keep that one, he decided and wandered off again.
It didn't take long too find, well... something. In fact it only took a matter of minutes before he returned with another oddly coloured mushroom and tossed it over to Jove. Waiting patiently to see if it was what he was looking for, or if he should go back and look for something else.
"This maybe?" He asked, making a face when said mushroom moved a little. Uhh... did that thing have legs...?

Tess turned towards the dragon boil in mild surprise. "U-um, hello," she answered lamely, "I didn't catch your name? I'm Tess," she introduced, as if she hadn't already said her name earlier on. Way to go, Tess, way to go. "Are you going to keep looking for mushrooms?" she asked him. Was she stalling from going back to the dorms? The winged vampire's hesitance to leave seemed to suggest so.

"Sheridan."
The greeting was polite even though brief, a short bow of his head. However her question had caught him off guard.
"I haven't decided yet, it is peaceful out here."
His gaze turned skyward, toward a few specks of starlight just barely peeking through the trees. Well, mostly peaceful anyway, but despite the arguing between two members of the group, it was still quieter than his room was likely to be amidst the chaos of his pets.
"Are you okay?"
Sheridan gave her a curious glance, she seemed...nervous about something?

((Sorry for the late response! ^^;; ))
LW followed the pup and her best friend silently, glancing around them as they walked. She did love being out here, though she wasn't sure if she liked being with a crowd. Wasn't this just asking for some sort of trouble? And since when was she afraid of a little trouble?! She snorted at herself and let her gaze fall to the hand holding her wrist. The she-wolf really had missed Ren. Maybe...maybe she would start stopping by to say hey again?
Nose twitching as everyone moved to start searching, LW followed slowly behind the gryphon at first, watching as he bent down to pluck up some mushrooms. Sadly, Jove confirmed they weren't the right ones. Her tail swished behind her a little as the she-wolf went on a mission to find some mushrooms. Sniffing around, she stalked towards a scattering of small plants at the base of a young tree. Crouching down and sniffing, she brushed back the leaves to the plants and discovered what looked like mushrooms.
Not wanting to pick them up, LW turned to look over her shoulder and call out to the pup in a small voice, still not quite herself yet. "Hey pup! Are these the ones you are looking for?" She gestured towards the few mushrooms nestled under the plants where she was crouched.

"No, Jove," Ren said teasingly. "You can't see the - oof."
Tybalt, being Tybalt, had stepped out from in front of him, and Ren had staggered forward abruptly, nearly toppling over. He managed to catch himself at the last second, nearly falling on top of Jove in the process. Casting a disgruntled and exasperated glare back at the dog, Ren pushed his long hair away from his face and glanced down at the mushrooms in his hand.
"Oops," he said hastily, grinning down at his little brother, quickly throwing the mushrooms over his shoulder. "Nothing to see here, nope!"
Patting the top of Jove's head affectionately, Ren moved to stand next to LW, peering over her shoulder. "Hey," he said, quirking a brow. "Those look like nice ones; where'd you get those?"
He knelt down, rummaging in the underbrush before pulling out yet another handful of mushrooms, these ones encrusted in dirt and grime. Brushing a few off, he slanted a curious glance towards his little brother. "These look familiar..?" he said questioningly. "Are these the right ones?"

The pup yipped slightly and darted out of the way as Ren nearly fell on him, he had been too busy trying to peer around the gryphon to notice what Tybalt had planned. Thus, in the pup's eyes, it was just Ren being silly and clumsy. And still not showing him the mushrooms.
He frowned, and turned around just in time to catch whatever it was the black dog threw at him. At first glance it was like any other mushroom, but... The pup flung it out of his hands with an exaggerated gesture, and then an almost comical shudder ran from his head to the tip of his tail not a second later. Whatever it was Tybalt had found, the pup hadn't enjoyed in the slightest.
Jove's good ear fell when he heard LW call out, and hunched his shoulders much the same way a young child would when called an embarrassing pet name. Hopefully it wouldn't spread... He might have been a pup, but with all the responsibilities of highschool and whatnot he tried so hard to act grown up! He looked over with an almost sulky expression, which brightened immediately when he saw the mushrooms in question. And Ren found some too!
He wagged his tail and dug at the ground with great enthusiasm, gathering up quite an armful of pale mushrooms. This was good. Depending on how well the mushrooms settled in after the shock of being relocated, he might actually be able to stay in his own room that very night!

Glancing up over her shoulder, a familiar head of pale gold was peering down. It was pretty much impossible for LW not to smile at her best friend. He always seemed to manage to pull them out of her, even when she felt down or not quite herself. "From under there." She pointed towards the plants she'd been looking under, letting her tail curl around her legs while Ren knelt down to take a look. Violet eyes brightened when he found even more of the mushrooms in the underbrush. Looking back over her shoulder, she sought out the pup.
LW didn't miss the way the pup's ear seemed to fall when she called him by the name she was used to referring to him as. Whoops. Maybe she could...refrain from doing so when surrounded by so many people? Nah! He could just continue to give her that adorable sulky expression of his. Which made her lips twitch into a smile. Not that his expression remained sulky for long. Apparently she had found the right type of mushrooms. As had Ren. Looked like they had been searching in the right place! Smiling at the pup, she felt herself relaxing a little more and some of her usual spunk surfacing.
Tugging lightly at Jove's tail, LW stepped back out of the way while he dug up an armful. "Glad to have been some help." She said and winked before letting her gaze fall to the gryphon. Her tail smacked against him playfully. "You can't do anything without me, can you?" LW teased both of them.

((FFFFF Holy crap dudes I'm sorry I haven't replied in like...FOREVER! forgetfulness coupled with work makes me lag like anything @.@))
"Yeah..I think I'll give the next one a miss" The idea of another field trip of any kind made her Shiver. No...she was still intent on hiding in her room for as long as possible. But Astra was glad to see sheridan was none the worse for wear from the hole experience, even if she didn't learn anything from it, except how to sit there and cry your eyes out like a baby
Astra then hovered backwards upon seeing Maritess approach the group. She hadn't met her before, but she did remember the ghoul from groanspring. she sad she had pretty wings! So she waved to her in greeting, also feeling confused about her question. Did they really need a teacher permission to be out here?
As more and more students popped up (including a cute kitsume, a long haired ghoul whom she faintly remembered from class, and the red dog whom she helped scared tybalt), she floated here and there, her attention becoming more focused on the surrounding trees and plants as she analysed the terrain for any good dark and damp plac- Aha! she whizzed off to a nearby tree believing she saw a nice damp spot, but when she looked closer all she could see was mold. "Aww...oh well" she was hoping to prove herself a good mushroom finder by finding one right off the bat.
Flying back to where everyone else was, the fairy ghoul found that they had all begun the search while she had been absent. Ahh, she didn't want to be left behind! She flew off again in a different direction, darting around trees and under logs and rotten leaves in search of the elusive fungi. It took a little time, but eventually she came across a few mushrooms hiding inside a tree log.
"Yay, I finaly found some!" she cheered happily, looking around for the ghost pup so he could confirm if these were the ones he wanted. Spying him nearby with everyone else, she waved her arms to try get his attention. "Hey jove, I found some mushrooms!" she called out
((I'ma stick around some more so I canz rp with everyone <3 when...I actually remember to POST))

Why did he keep finding animals?! With a startled grunt the boil backed way from the toad, lip curling slightly in disgust. Ok, clearly he sucked at mushroom hunting if he couldn't discern the difference between a fungus and a critter. It was.. frustrating, and vaguely humiliating, and if it had been for almost anyone else he would have simply gone back to the school.
This was Jove though, and the ghost boil cared greatly for the small whisp, and he'd put up with a lot to help him out. "Ok.. take three." Brushing fingers though his hair, he strode around the massive tree carcass until he was around near the decaying branches. Peeking between the moss covered boughs until something pale and milky caught his eye.
Now these he was pretty sure were mushrooms. Perhaps not the ones he wanted, but definitely mushrooms. They were tall with little round caps and a small fringe along the base. "Got another bunch here Jove. Think these are actually fungus this time."

So that wasn't what he needed either, huh? Which made him wonder... Just how many kinds of mushrooms did this forest have exactly and what kind was Jove looking for? No one had really explained anything to him... Perhaps he would have to ask about it once he got back from his current search.
Wrinkling his nose, Tybalt pawed through the dirt and uncovered another find. This one was green and it looked impressive... but to be honest, he wasn't even sure what colour he was looking for. It certainly looked better than the others... but that smell... Maybe Jove was making stink bombs? That might be it? Maybe... Whatever the reason, the black dog plucked it up off the ground; holding it as far away from his nose as he could before he made his way back to the others. Moving more quickly than he normally would have and tossed it on the ground once he found them. Whoever was unfortunate enough to be standing close by, might have been assaulted by a strong and awful smell. Especially those with a strong sense of smell.
"Hey, curiosity got the better of me. Why do you need mushrooms anyways?" He asked, waving at the air in a futile attempt to make the stench go away.

What? Was there something wrong with his stupid mushrooms? West waited until Jove had turned and trotted off before briefly sticking his tongue out at the retreating ghost. Peh.
His narrowed eyes darted around the area, taking in the sorts of growths the younger boil seemed pleased by, but he was almost immediately sidetracked by the interaction between Tybalt and Ren. Sadly, when their argument failed to escalate beyond grumbling and a handful of verbal taunts, West lost interest. He left his rejected mushrooms and strolled off toward an untouched bit of this section of forest. Leaves, acorns, dead thing, string... ah, there. The demon continued strolling casually toward what looked like another patch of mushrooms. He didn't want to seem too eager, but now that he had started, he was determined to find something.
"'Ere. Come look," he called out, pointing down at his find.

Jove whined at the tug on his tail. That was definitely off limits! With a huffy sigh he trotted off to go see what Astra had found. When he crouched down to take a look inside the log, he was delighted by what he saw. Those mushrooms were bright enough to cast a soft glow on the rotting wood, reflecting off the shiny shells of beetles and slimy grubs as they went about their business. Undeterred by the insect life, the pup got down on his hands and knees and wiggled far enough into the log to dig up a few.
With a happy tail wag for the ghoul, he twitched one ear to dislodge a beetle and then trotted over to Seiji. By that point he was happily covered in dirt and detritus. The boil's find was indeed mushrooms! With another tail wag he motioned enthusiastically with one arm for Seiji to bring them over to the wagon, trusting the other ghost would unearth them carefully. It didn't even occur to him that his friend might do otherwise.
He was depositing his mushrooms in the wagon next to the others when a terrible smell caught his attention. Had West unearthed another one of those stinky mushrooms? When the ghost realized it was Tybalt carrying the thing straight towards him, he clamped both dirty hands over his nose and took a couple steps back. Definitely not what he was looking for.
The pup turned right around and headed the other way, briefly pausing to look at West's latest discovery, but it didn't really seem to interest him. He was more intent on using the demon as a barrier between himself and that smell.
