The sudden sound of someone hitting something startled him. Judging from the mumbling that followed, it was apparently a man. "Hello?" Kiyoshi called out into the darkened room. "Is anyone there?" He regretted doing so right afterwards. Didn't the booklet say that the objective was to kill each other? What if this person had a weapon with him? Most likely he did. Kiyoshi suspected that he was probably the only person who was unarmed. And thus he began backing towards the wall. How come this person didn't show up on the tracking device beforehand? That must have meant that not everyone was there yet or that the device was broken. If the first scenario was true, that would explain why there were only about ten blue dots when there had been much more than that in the room. Drowning in the sound of his own heartbeat, Kiyoshi trembled as he moved, trying to avoid casting a shadow on the walls with the faint moonlight flowing in through the stained glass windows. There had to be an exit near the stage. If he could find it, at least he could run away if the other man was dangerous.

Max looked up when someone called out. Did they really start two people in the same building? Was everyone else here or are the people running this thing just thirsty for some quick bloodshed? He was about to answer the person, but thought better of it. They were supposed to be killing each other. He picked up his scythe, probably the most useless weapon he could think of, and slowly made his way out of the pews.
As he made his way to the center aisle, he realized why the person had called out. What if they wanted a truce? There were a lot of people to kill, and teaming up would make things a bit easier. "Hello out there!" Max called, waiting for his echo to die off before continuing. "What do you say to a truce? You and I work together for now, try to thin the herd before they thin us?"
He thought he saw movement, and gripped his scythe in both hands.

"I am unarmed." Kiyoshi replied, stepping forward slightly. What if that man had a gun? he thought. Probably smarter to have not said anything at all, but now he gave away his location anyway and even admitted that he was unarmed. It was probably too late to undo that. At least he was close to the back wall. He could hide behind the podium and even the large metal cross if the shooting started. The person didn't sound like he was lying when he asked for a truce. Having worked his entire life in business, Kiyoshi was pretty good at telling when someone was lying. He shined a flashlight beam onto the person who had stepped into the center aisle, just in case. "Please don't have a gun," he prayed. "Please don't have a gun."When he saw the man's weapon, he gave a sigh of relief. It was just a scythe, another relatively useless weapon. As long as he kept his distance, he should be fine. "I got a tracking device." he told the man, placing his "weapon" into the flashlight's beam so that he could see it clearly. "Please, put down that weapon so we can talk.":// Useless weapons for the win!

Max raised a hand to shield his eyes from the flashlight. He didn't realize how dark it was in the church until the light nearly blinded him. "They gave you a tracking device?" He asked as the man pointed the light at it. "What'd they give you for a weapon?" The thought of that being his weapon occurred to him, but he dismissed it. Sure it would let him find people, but what was he supposed to do then? Kill them with a rock? It was a laughable idea, but at the same, Max saw an opportunity. This guy could help him find the others before they found him. Or, Max could kill him now, and take the tracker for himself.
No, even if this man had to use a rock, he could help fight. Two would be better against one, even if everyone else was issues farm implements like Max. He didn't put the scythe down, he wasn't that stupid or trusting. He instead placed the end of the shaft on the ground, holding the tool with his other hand like a staff. He wouldn't be able to swing quickly, but he didn't think he would have to at the moment.

"The tracking device is my weapon. We all got 4 things right? Water, a flashlight, a booklet, and well the tracking device is my last one." Kiyoshi really hoped that he could trust this guy. He could probably last longer in the game if he just went around avoiding people. But he wasn't exactly good at sports. He spent his life behind a desk. This entire game was a disadvantage to him. So really, it was only a matter of time before he was killed. He was hoping he would be able to use his skill of persuasion to get by, but usually, he only needed to convince people in situations where killing the other person was not a preferable option. Right now, he really had no idea what he was doing. He dumped the contents of his bag out in front of him, just so Max could see that he truly was not lying when he said that he didn't have anything else.

Phaedre OoO Axis OoO Deveroux An apathetic genius: Axis became aware first of the sharp edge of something digging into her side. She felt the world spin as she tried to stand. Confused, she tried to find the ground to push herself up. Then her sight cleared and she saw it some twenty feet below her. Clutching the edge of the plank of wood her lower half was perched on, she managed to scramble backwards until she was in a kneeling position. Heart hammering in her chest, Axis had no breath for a tirade against sadistic scientists who thought the top of a book shelf was a good landing point. Convienently forgetting, of course, that it had been her idea. Get them right from the start, she had said. The sooner they realize they're in hell, the better. The others had laughed, still lying to themselves about the nature of the project. Shaking her head, she looked around for her bag. It was no where in sight. Groaning, she peered over the edge of the bookcase. It was there on the floor, twenty feet down. Grumbling, Axis started the climb down. Though her demeanor would never suggest it, her shaking hands belied her fear. Heights were not her strong suit. Dropping the last foot or so, she glanced around the dimly lit area. A library. She wondered breifly if there was any useful information located in the books but decided against it. Too time consuming. Opening her bag, she looked inside then paused. A machine gun. Automatic fire meant aiming was little issue. A good weapon for someone who had never held one before. Smile slightly, her mood well improved, Axis, slung the gun over her shoulder and adjusted the strap for fit. There. Something less to worry about. She rifled through the bag for a minute then froze. Someone else was here. Will solve your problems. Will not tell you the answers. R1:

Max couldn't even try to stifle his laugh when he realized his original thought had been right. He'd woken up in a church, been given a scythe, told to kill everyone else there, and the first person he meets doesn't even have a weapon. "Oh-ho, my God, dude!" He laughed, holding a hand to his head. "Yeah, I got four things too, but they just gave you a tracker for a weapon?" He wanted to take pity on the guy, but did that mean putting him out of his misery, or helping him?
When he'd finally stopped laughing he'd decided. He couldn't be that heartless yet. "Alright, alright. You're sticking with me for now. At least until we can get you a proper weapon."

Kiyoshi smiled weakly at the man's laughter. If he were really to go with this person, he could end up dead. If he didn't, he could end up dead anyway. There really wasn't much of a choice. In a way, it was really funny. But he'd rather this not be happening to him. "Thank you." He answered. "My name is Kiyoshi. We should go find some food first if we don't want to end up starving."

"I was just thinking the same thing." Max said. "So whadya say we get out of here? I doubt there's going to be anything to eat in a church." With a smile he jerked his thumb over his shoulder at the main doors. As he turned to lave, he remembered to introduce himself. "The name's Max, by the way."

"There's a school and some houses nearby." Kiyoshi stated, examining his map. "We might be able to find food in one of those places. I doubt the library really has anything to eat. Some knives or something would be nice too. And a first aid kit." Kiyoshi tried to think of anything else they may need to find. Their weapons didn't exactly put them at an advantage, but being more prepared may give them a larger one. And besides, if they are able to find some flammable liquids or string, they may be able to make some traps.
He shook the thought out of his head. He couldn't believe that he was actually thinking of killing people, people he had just met a few minutes ago. This place was really changing them, wasn't it?

Tempest decided to go to the library first. It was close to the school and the first building on the map. Maybe there were some people in here. Holding his crossbow up in front of him, he carefully pushed the heavy oaken doors open to reveal large rows of books in front of him, a wonderful stage, filled with many places to hide and shoot from. The best thing about this game was that if he died, there would be no respawn button. That made it all the more challenging. Swinging his bag, now heavy with supplies, food and a first aid kit (extra health), some clothes (extra armor), and a few knives and other liquids he had found in the kitchen and bathrooms, a few stacks of matches, a lighter, making his bag just light enough to carry. He wondered who the first person he'd meet would be as he accidentally let the oak doors fall closed with a loud crash giving away his position. Immediately he retreated to a corner of the room, surrounded by bookshelves, and waited.

"You kidding me?" Harper replied, lifting her goggles momentarily as her character loaded into the game, a process that usually took all of five seconds. "It's not like there's anything else for me to do around here besides torturing these wimpy little, sub-human bottle-suckers." She put her goggles back over her eyes and sighed, her fingers flying automatically over the keys before leaning back and watching her 'ghost' character float up, taking the entire realm into a bird's eye view.
She lifted her goggles quickly to check her tracker. There were two in the church, a couple in that house, one in the library, and one in the school... they seemed to be getting along nicely, since there hadn't been any running, or dying, for that matter. Bottle-suckers. That'd been pretty ingenious.
Let's see... she thought mischievously. Where can I meddle now? A church...? No, that's too obvious. Ah! There's movement on the tracker! Someone's heading to the library! Hm... smart boy... but then again, not so smart. Let's see... ooh! More movement!
"I live for company," she replied as the General scooted up next to her. She grabbed a second pair of goggles and tossed them to him casually. "How about dinner and a movie?" she offered with a smirk. "I'm sure I restocked the minibar before all of this, so there should be some stuff for you to nosh on while you watch me pulverize these losers." Her voice filled with glee as she said this, a dangerous sign that she was beginning to get into her job. "Did I ever mention how much I love my job? I mean... how much I love my job now. By the way, do you think I should attack these guys with the fairytale curse, or with the flesh-eating history books?" She giggled. "Both!" she squealed before Owen could answer.
Swish and flick, she thought as she typed in a few more passcodes, and evil grin on her face as she leered at the computer. Let the Games begin.
-
Library, library, library... Harper thought as she flew through the treetops and towards the library, and her first victims. I've always hated studying, and this game only made it worse... She landed silently on the roof and smirked. Going down... she thought as she drifted effortlessly through the roof, using her umbrella to float down silently, landing behind Axis.
"Hello," she said with a cheerful wave, breaking the silence with her high-pitched voice. "Welcome to the Game! It seems you have company, Phaedre Deveroux, or should I call you Axis? Did you know your new friend one of the most dangerous players here? Be sure to kill him before he kills you, or things might end badly!"
Harper giggled before disappearing in a puff of smoke. She reappeared behind Tempest, ruffling her hair slightly before twirling her umbrella and greeting him as she had Axis.
"Hi there!" she squealed. "Welcome to the Game! Tempest, right? You should know that she's coming to get you, so be on your guard, teehee!" And she vanished. It wasn't much to go by, but it was enough to scare them both, and cause a little drama. Yay, drama! Teehee!

The general laughed at Harper's invitation to dinner and grabbed some beer from the minibar. "You want something?" He asked Harper, but she didn't seem to hear him. She was giggling about something fairy tales and history related. Owen went back to his seat and put on the goggles, leaning back in his chair, drinking beer and watching the evaluation. It was a pretty good way to relax. He wondered if Harper was gonna be doing this for a few days straight or something. There's gotta be someone to relieve her. But then, looking at how excited she seemed, he could see her lasting a few sleepless days and nights. Harper was telling Axis something, trying to scare her. Owen wondered who got Axis into this game. Of course when she was working for the World Government, he was still a lieutenant, but you can't lead a black ops team full of the world's finest spies and soldiers without knowing something like that. That was essentially what the World Secret Service was, a black-ops team. Anyway, whoever got her into the game had to have pulled some massive strings. It was definitely an inside job. Instead of doing the loyal thing of reporting this to the reps right away, Owen chose to wait, see what happens. Maybe that'll leave some clues about whatever these people are planning, whoever they are. He thought about who else there could be to question. Who else knew Axis and about the evaluation? Most of the people who had helped built it were dead, so the list was rather short. His teams had seen to it personally. He wondered how much Harper knew. "Hey Harper?" He began, trying to think of the most casual way to bring this up. "How did you get into this proctoring business anyway?":// Dear Count, Sorry if my post is not very clear. Kiyoshi is waiting for Max to decide where to go. I just realized it could be a bit ambiguous. >.<

((No, I understood it, I've just been in a bit of a depression recently and haven't been able to write anywhere.))
"Yeah, a library would be pretty useless right now, as always, and I'd rather not go back to school. Max said, rubbing his chin as he thought more about their situation. A few days ago he'd been nothing more than a mechanic trying to run a junkyard, his only worry outside of money being angry customers. The only times he'd had to pick up a weapon was to fend of thieves trying to steal from his scrap piles. And even then, the sight of a crowbar or the sound of a round being chambered into a shotgun usually sent them running. Here, he was expected to kill people. The thought didn't bother him as much as he knew it should, but maybe it hadn't really sunk in yet. "Let's check out those houses. There's bound to be some goodies in one of them. Even a kitchen knife would be better than your current weapon situation. As it is, though, I guess I'll lead, you just tell me where we're going and keep an eye on that scanner."

"Agreed" Kiyoshi replied, turning the scanner back on. "There seems to be no people around that area at the moment." He kept watching the scanner as they headed out the door, but still kept Max in his perhipherals. He could trust him, right? That's what his intuition told him. His intuition usually didn't lie. Still, it didn't hurt to be a bit more careful. "So where are you from?" Kiyoshi asked. At least they could use this bit of time to get to know each other.
:// Aww. Feel better. Hug. If you don't mind me asking, did something happen? You usually reply at a ridiculously fast rate so I was a bit worried this time when you didn't.
