"Yeah..." Zink nodded, at least he wasn't the only one feeling awkward just at the moment. "Do you want your hands wrapped so I'm not picking cheese out of the cuts or after?" he asked, it was as much a distraction effort, a deflection effort as the shrug.
"yeah...she was the one with the blue hair, with the winged Fabio wana-be." He grumbled. "Castor...emphasis on a**."
He picked up his pizza and took another bite, cool enough to eat now anyhow, bite two and he offered the till recently captive vodka bottle to Ever.
"I have to get Lyra brought to our side... or they'll kill her for what she did... but if I do that she'll forget...everything. Some... magic boobietrap of being a senshi or something."
"...It is ridiculous that you can irritate me so damned much but I am still enjoying your company... how the hell do you do that."

Ever shrugged off the bandaging for now in favor of devouring more pizza. It was possible he hadn't been eating a whole lot since the battle had ended; mostly he'd been holed up, mostly smashed, smoking and reading his book. With that though, his eyes twitched around Zac in search of it, to make sure that he hadn't lost his page...
The question hit and Ever blinked up, surprise turning into something entirely too pleased. Delighted. As far as he was concerned, both irritating Zac and being pleasant company were good things. Together, they were just about perfect, really.
"I don't know, but pretty common reaction, anyway." He offered a flash of a grin, shaking his head and biting off one end of his crust. "You feel any better, anyway?"

Zac blinked and looked a little surprised. "...yeah...actually." He admitted.
"Well...you know except for the ribs..." but he said it more like a joke.
"What about you?" He looked back at Ever and watched him eat a while. He stole the breadstick he'd peeled out of the pizza and just let Ever dig in for a while.
".... They don't actually -do- anything with broken ribs do they? I think they just trussed up Scheelite like a roast."

"Mmm, I don't remember, mostly they were focused on my nose..." That, at least, they had tried to do something about. Several days too late. Ever made a noise and shifted where he sat, polishing off his pizza and curling his hands around the now-greasy towel. He tried to avoid the worst of the mess.
"Couldn't you, ah. Couldn't you pop a little...energy...thing?" What were they really called, anyway? Ever had danced around the word 'pearl' due to other unfortunate connotations but..."It helps, doesn't it?"

"Yeah...eventually..." He shifted on the bed. "I have two star seeds...those would really help but...ugh." He made a face. "Thanks no... seen how people act on those things." He shook his head and prodded gingerly at his side.
"Besides... you have to be careful, if something is out of whack you don't want it to heal FASTER and out of whack." He shrugged, eventually... I handed out most of what I had tonight, I was making rounds."

"I don't have anything." Which was saying something for Ever, who usually went out every night prowling anyway. Never hurt him to pick up a little something while he was out. He tugged his legs up against his chest, perched not quite on the edge of the bed, his expression fading toward serious again. Thinking.
"You need help? With your mentor, or your sister, or..." Or he didn't really know. Other friends could have offered better distractions: television or movies or video games. Those weren't Ever's speciality.

"Honestly... I don't know what I'd ask for." He said shaking his head and drawing his own knees up or starting to, Apparently it was uncomfortable enough to change his mind. "Not with them anyhow..."
He waved a hand vaguely. "All I... all I have are more questions, questions they raised, questions I raised... am I doing the right thing, are they doing the right thing, everyone has strength of conviction but am I asking the RIGHT questions, are they answering the wrong ones... "
He flicked at a curled up napkin, trying to distract himself. "....Everyone leaves eventually, Just... it hurt more when Lina left...and god... I never thought that Beth would be in the equation."

"Are you -- ahm." Ever reached for the bottle, mostly to see how much was lefti - and the answer was not a whole lot. He'd been working his way through that supply for a while, now, and it was starting to run low. He took a brief swig, anyway, before handing it back.
An awkward push nudged the pizza box out of the way, so he could slide slowly down on his elbows and huff out a sigh. "Where do you live? Alone?"

"...Hillworth dorms...no room mate...not anymore." He replied and after a moments pause took the bottle and took a small sip and made another face. Clearly not a fan of the taste, but at least accepting of the effects.
"... Unless you mean where else... suburbs, apothecary street... not alone, I only -wish-." He sighed. "When I am home I take care of mother, otherwise she'd live on TV dinners, Gin, Whiskey and preaching about...well...everything." He shook his head and looked tired, at least it was 'just tired' now though not quite so 'crushed by the world'.
"... You should let me do something about the hands before I go." He chided again, he was little if not stubborn.

Ever waved off the help, shaking his head a little; if he'd desperately needed some aid, he could always have shown his palms to his landlady. He suspect she would have been the nosy type to poke and prod and cluck her tongue...
"I meant. Hum. I meant, where are you going after this?" It was an awkward question on his tongue, and it left Ever flustered. Remarkably so. Unsure exactly how to broach this subject, or if Zac would mock him for even trying. "I meant, are you going to go home alone."
There was a pause, his toes curling uncomfortably around the edge of the bed. "Because you shouldn't."

Zac blinked at him, confused for a moment as it flew right over his head, at least for the first few moments. "I'm not going to get -mugged, but I can teleport if your...." he started to reply and then blinked again, frowned and stared suspiciously at Ever leaning slightly away from him. No doubt part of him was thinking back to the drunken kiss.
"... Unless that's not what you were thinking." He said with that same suspicious look on his face.
He stared at him a moment longer but not really long enough for Ever to counter. "...What WERE you thinking... you're not thinking what I'm thinking you're thinking...right?"
Not that that really gave much indication on what he thought Ever might be thinking.

Ever looked too serious for this to be anything more than innocent concern, his eyes shadowed in a way that said worry instead of humor, hands still curled around their towel. "I mean you shouldn't go home alone. Because you're a thinker. I know how thinkers get."
Obviously, though, Zac didn't know how thinkers got, so Ever made a sharp noise and sat up a little straighter, head tipped to the side. "You'll go sit at the dark and work yourself in circles, worrying at every little doubt like a loose tooth. No?"

He opened his mouth like he might make a rather loud protest that he most certanly would NOT do such a thing...
But it closed with a dull click, teeth against teeth as he swallowed a large chunk of ego.
"....I hate you." He said and took another sip of Vodka. The tone in his voice very much indicated that his 'hatred' was little more than irritation, half at Ever for knowing, and more at himself for being 'transparent.'
Truth was he'd been worrying doubts like scabs and loose teeth for some time now...it was a wonder he was still functional.
"And I don't sit in the dark... I need the light to read my notes!" He countered, like that helped anything.

"Hnn, yes, that's so much better." He shook his head a little, straightening the rest of the way to rest elbows on his knees again and just watch Zac. Ever was quiet for a remarkably long time before his eyes flicked around the room.
"Not, of course, that I'm suggesting you should stay here, instead. I mean, it'd suck to stay here. I just..." He dug and floundered, licking his lips and resting his chin on one arm. "Find someone to go hang out with, instead of heading home."

"... like my plethora of friends right?"
There was more than a little sarcasm in that but he at least looked apologetic the moment it slipped out.
"It's really not -that- bad here..." He offered... "... I mean I room at Hillworth, we're lucky we get beds instead of cots."
Yes he was at least partially teasing but still.
"...I mean...Dem is rooming with Paragonite... Beth is...um.. well, she's in the negaverse... and home is..." he waved a hand and glanced at the bottle before offering it back to Ever.
"... Home is where the heart is... still looking for that I guess."
