( sorry, I disappeared, guys! Q A Q had to go get betas orzorz sorrysorry to barge in orz )

To be entirely honest with herself, Theta-two was extremely relieved to hear a voice return her call. Stumbling in the general direction of possibly-friendly-person-number-one, she twisted and felt her way through the fog until Theta-nine was clear and visible before her. Panting slightly, she shifted her knapsack, Excalibur in hand, and opened her mouth to say something. Only, she wasn't sure what. So she settled on, "How ya doin'?" Which, in retrospect, sounded like some lame pick up line, and was pretty damn stupid. Fumbling a bit, the girl straightened, hands flying to tangle in the hair that she couldn't reach and swearing when she realized that her habits-from-a-past-she-didn't-remember were going to drive her insane. "Do you know where we are? The fog is going to drive me up a wall."

Of course, idle conversation didn't last long when someone else started up. Snapping her head up, the girl peered into the fog, barely making out the figure of another gas mask trooper and... evil minion creature number one. "Hey," She started in a slightly jittery tone, reaching out to tug at Theta-nine's arm without really thinking too much. Hopefully he wouldn't stab her, or do something equally crazy. "Hey, hey, hey, what the ******** are those things?" Realizing her hands and their placement, she quickly reeled back, though she did manage to shimmy after the other when he started to rummage through the backpack and walk towards the other gas mask person. Delta-four, she called herself. Peeking from around the Theta's shoulder, she gave a wave, even though she doubted the other had been talking to her in the first place. Maybe she had been social in her past life. Or maybe she just didn't want to be alone.

Heart skipping a beat when a new voice called out, Theta-two's head snapped up. "Nope," She mumbled, her head starting to ache from all the numbers. Slinking towards Delta-six, she offered another wave, though she didn't come into the others personal space, not wanting to make her jump. "Theta-two," She announced with a confident, amiable, if not a bit shaky tone. "Pleasure, I think." Of course, the pleasure only lasted a few seconds before the girl started speaking to Delta-four, her voice rising into a fit of hysterics that Theta-two hadn't thought possible before. Quickly enough, she shied back to Theta-nine's side.

"Uhm,"
She said to him after a long moment of contemplation. "Do you mind if I tag along? Being alone.. doesn't sound like much fun out here right now. And I mean, you all seem..." She paused then, struggling over a word. "... Yeah" Okay, so she didn't know where she was going with that, and her conversation skills might have needed a bit of practice, but at least she was getting somewhere. Silencing herself, she simply listened to the others words, waiting for a reason to pipe up again. After all, maybe they knew more than she did, and in a place where information seemed to be a key to survival, who didn't want a piece of that?

"Delta Twelve! Are you okay?" At the sound of his voice, she turned and greeted him with a weak wave. "A lot of us seem to be finding our way here..."

Hearing Theta Nine's reply, D6 scanned the surrounding area for a sign of these creatures, but saw none. "But we should head back towards where the lighthouse was, then, if these creatures are attacking here." To be honest, she felt safer in the area they were before, closer to base camp. As she continued to glance suspiciously around her for any signs of attack, she noticed Theta-two approaching, and took a step back before thinking.

"D-delta Six." She gave a feeble smile. "I hope so. I think we should head towards the lighthouse near the base camps, if you want to come with us?" In the back of her mind, the notion emerged that any of these Thetas might be feigning friendliness. But what stopped the Deltas from attacking each other, either? They weren't bound by some sort of team pact; if anything, she was glad to hear someone who seemed as shaken as she was. As she extended her hand in an open gesture, a shadow seemed to emerge out of the fog, leaping towards Theta Two.

Just as the dumb shadow monster didn't wait for her to finish her peaceful conversation with her not so peaceful comrade's, she didn't waste any time in reacting to... that... thing. Screaming as soon as the slippery figure launched towards her and grazed her arm, Theta-two reached back and whipped out Excalibur like an ace, crime fighting knight of the twentieth century and... held it like a baseball bat. Well, whoever said stakes couldn't be used for more than one thing? "Stupid monster!" She swore, a vivid, colorful curse coming after her sudden war cry, and swung. Hopefully, she didn't miss. When a crack sounded in her ears, she opened an eye she hadn't known she'd closed to stare at the stake as it connected with the thick black of the shadowy slither-thing, which had already been stuck with a dagger by - by a Delta? Blinking, the girl forgot the danger for a moment and turned to Delta-six. "Thanks." She said, out of breath and entirely sincere. "You saved my a**, thank you, holy s**t."

Theta-two might have been rash and prideful, but there was no doubt that she was shaken just as bad as the others might have been.

"I'm doing okay," Theta Nine told Theta Two, all jovial good cheer. "Hope you are too."

No stabbing occurred, even after she tugged at his sleeve. Though he didn't think he had known Theta Two in whatever life they had had before they got stuck on the island, the gesture and even her jittery manner were familiar to him (/why/ were they familiar? his mind wondered), and that was welcome in these strange parts.

Theta Nine reached out to give her shoulder a reassuring pat, a gesture as reflexive as his thwarted attempt to rake a hand through his hair had been. "And I don't mind at all if you tag along." Pause. "Er, as long as you don't attack me." He gestured to Excalibur. Catching a snippet of the Deltas' talk, he added, "Anyway, let's get out of --"

It was too late.

He spotted the creature leaping toward the other Theta. His eyes went round behind the teal glass of his goggles as he shouted, "Watch out!" He even threw out a hand in a warding gesture, for what little good it would do.

Abruptly abashed, Theta Nine let his hand drop, though he clenched it into a fist, ready to fight. But Theta Two was closer to the creature, and he wasn't convinced that he could attack it without getting in her way. Group fights against a single opponent could be more trouble than they were worth, with fighters on the same team getting in each other's way. Now why did he know that? The question nagged at him, even as he shouted advice. "Punch it hard in the stomach!" It'd worked for him, at least!

The monster hadn't had a chance. The two had brought it to its knees and with a hideous silent wail the creature disappeared back into the black fog.

Delta Six breathed a sigh of relief at the disappearance of the monster. Giving Theta-Two a weak smile, in part amused at the girl's colorful swearing in spite of the situation, she replied, "We could all use allies at a time like this."

"We should definitely get going now," she said as she began to walk-- hopefully-- in a direction of the lighthouse. In the opposite direction from the monster, at least.

As she took a step, another monster appeared out of the fog and scratched across the arm that had been burnt before, by the acrid smoke. Delta Six let out a gasp of pain and slashed wildly as she fell to the ground.

Without looking back, Delta Six stumbled back to her feet and began to run. She hoped at least someone she had met in that fog-covered area would come with her, but didn't wait to find out.

At the very least, these monsters weren't as deadly as the flaming horse from before, and she was glad to find out that they weren't following- and if they were, they didn't attack.

[Delta two entering hiding.]

Delta two, feeling tired, from long hours of wandering after the fight...not a scratch on him, but still he felt like cattle walking around like this…of course hiding didn’t help him survive any, but whatever was his only argument for that. So waiting was the game.

Delta Four watched as the others slashed at the shadows, her hand on the hilt of her dagger. "I suggest we move in a group, out of here. Somehow, I feel like they're attacking quicker, and what if these are all little children? Big Momma shouldn't be far behind." Giving an unsettled grunt, Delta Four offered a hand to the one that had fallen, wanting to help her stand up without delay.

(( Argh, too late? XD;; Four tried to help Six up... should I change it? ))

When Theta-nine replied with such a jovial sort of tone, some of the anxiety seemed to melt from Theta-two's mind. That they were able to act like this in the middle of survivor-meets-lost--and-has-a-love-child gave her a bit of relief. That they were able to talk at all without knifing each other was even more welcoming. What she'd seen back with the pendant, how they'd turned on each other without even an ounce of remorse kept with her the entire time, surging through her veins and racking her faith in humanity, even though she couldn't help but trust Nine for now, her heart hammering in her chest.

"Well,"
She said teasingly, waving a hand at the other and smiling even though he couldn't see it. "I'm doing alright as I can be, yeah? I'm still alive, thats enough for me." Giving a slight shrug, she kept herself close to Theta-nine, if only because he'd given her reason enough to trust that he wouldn't take her out once she turned her back. Maybe they'd known each other in the past life. Maybe they'd even chilled like buddies once or twice in a corner cafe. But that was absurd, and she shook the thought from her head as fast as it had come in. She didn't know a thing about herself, but it was easy enough to understand that there were billions of people on the planet, and the idea that Theta-two had once known Theta-nine in a past life was about as possible as her having been Batman before she'd had her memories dropped off a cliff and into oblivion. No, she convinced herself it was just nerves that made her trust him now. She didn't even realize how jittery she'd become, how much sanity had probably dropped off her back when she'd first seen the twenty-foot fire horse in action.

"Thanks,"
She mumbled when he patted her, though at the pause and the words after, she couldn't help but laugh and playfully punch his shoulder, as much as she could at least, with them both cloaked in armor. "What, afraid you'll get beaten up by a girl?" She asked jokingly, though her tone sobered quickly enough. "Dont worry, boyo, I'm not gonna attack you. You're pretty okay, yeah?"

It was then that the creature attacked, and that she forgot for a moment about their talk to get rid of it. She heard his voice in the back of her head, the Watch Out, and the punch it line. And she very nearly reeled her fist back to take aim when the thing disappeared back into the black fog with a terrifying screech. Panting slightly, she lowered Excalibur and her arm, her body full of shakes as she shook her head. It was only a few moments before another one came, but this time it was for Delta-six.

"Woah, watch out!"
She screamed, in the same manner that Theta-nine had. Only this time, she wasn't quick enough to return the favor that the girl had,, only watching in shock as it disappeared back into the fog, away from the dagger that pierced its skin. "Hey!" She called, waving her arms. "Are you alright?" But Delta-six was running already, and running away. Her heart hammered in worry, in sympathy as well, as the girl who'd helped save her a** disappeared back into the fog as quickly as she had appeared.

Turning her head as Delta-four spoke, the girl shook off her erratic heartbeat and twisted her lips softly behind her mask. "... Yeah, lets not wait for the big daddies to come out and beat us up, huh?" She rubbed her gas mask clad head and stared between Theta-nine and Delta-four. "Which way should we go?" She asked finally, fidgeting a bit closer to the two. Her eyes turned quickly to Theta-nine. "You're coming too, right?" She asked, nearly hopeful. If they split up now, life would go on until one of the bigger, badder meanies tried to eat her up. Or another gas mask clone. But for now, she could only hope that they'd stick together for a little while. She didn't quite catch the movement in the shadows yet, the new Delta who'd entered the area. If she had, she would have offered out her hand for help. If she had, she would have hoped that one more person had come who she could trust for the moment.

Delta Four grimaced behind the mask as Six got up, not even realizing that she was offering to help her up, and just... ran. It didn't sit well with Delta Four, and it seemed to her that that girl was always running off. "She's going to end up a lot worse if she doesn't stop and look at her surroundings..." She sighed, pushing aside the worry that accompanied her about Delta Six.

"This... doesn't bode well." She shook her head, offering a hand out now for the other two. "Shall we leave together? Easier to watch each other's backs if we do that." She glanced to the side, looking for any stray shadows, keeping her eye out just in case they got ambushed. Again.

Theta Nine didn't so much as flinch at that punch to his armored shoulder. Getting beaten up by a girl? "Not a chance," he replied, amusement brightening his voice even if his face couldn't be seen. As for him being pretty okay, he nodded. "Hey, I like to think so, at least."

The two battles were over almost as soon as they began, even before he could punch one of the creatures. Off went Delta Six, to his concern. "Hope she'll be okay, wherever she's headed," he stated. "But yeah, let's not wait around." An easy nod went toward Theta Two. "I'll come with, sure." Turning slightly, he tried to sight around, but gave up after he realized that there was simply more fog as far as the eye could see. "I don't know where your squad started, Delta Four, but I figure the lighthouse is as good a landmark as any." And more neutral territory than the Theta home base was, besides. "Unless anyone's got a better idea?"

Glancing over at Delta-four, the Theta couldn't help but tilt one shoulder up, a smile unseen by everyone else. "I'm sure she'll be fine... Maybe we'll see her later, huh?" She dipped her head, the gas mask heavy on her face. "Maybe she's got some secret a** kicking skills she just doesn't remember from her past life." Theta-two joked wryly, if only to pause and think of how nice that would be. Returning Excalibur to her knapsack, the girl straightened out and looked over to Delta-four. "Together sounds nice. Don't wanna be alone, yeah? Especially not with the monsters in the dark."

When Theta-nine commented again, Theta-two couldn't help but wear a s**t eating grin under her mask. "Yeah? I bet I could prove you wrong, boyo." Chuckling slightly, she nudged him before stepping between the Delta and the Theta, the girl glanced between the two, stretching her arms above her head. "Yeah, well. You haven't proved yourself anything bad yet, huh?" When the other confirmed that he'd come, the girl dropped her arms and felt a slight relief crawl into her system. That made three in their mismatched group so far. Three was better than one. "The lighthouse?" She mimicked, tilting her head towards the fog. "It sounds good to me. Then again, just being on the move is probably the best idea for now, with all the beastie's in the dark. Its just a matter of finding other places in this damned fog." Brushing her hands over her front, the girl looked between the two. "Off we go then?"
