xxxxxFive listened to the speech, worried and afraid. She didn't want to be here. She wanted something soft to curl up into to, or something big to hug and cry into. Looking down at her outfit, she felt hollow and empty, just a copy of her newfound friends. Were they friends? Five wasn't sure, but she certainly assumed they were. After all, they were all experiencing this together, right? "Hi Seven, I'm ..." she stopped for am moment, realizing she couldn't even recall it herself. She glanced over to a bag and saw a bag with a strange 'Y' and the roman numeral 'V' or 5. "Oh! Right, I'm five!" She nodded with a strange conviction, as if that really was her name, and not just a series of letters and numbers.

xxxxx"B-base camp? Dodge?" she said worriedly. Five honestly didn't understand a word the boy was saying. She did, however, notice that the bag sitting by her feet still hadn't been open. With trepidation, she reached into a bag and pulled out ...

xxxxxA gun.

xxxxxShe dropped it, surprisingly herself with just how scared she was. She had only seen pictures of guns, and was always taught by her mother that guns were bad. Guns were bad!

xxxxx"Wh-what is that here for? Seven I don't get it," she whispered. She had mentioned seven's name, but it wasn't really directed at him. It was directed at herself more than anyone corporeal, really. With that phrase, she began to tear up. After all, she was only a little girl. All she had known was the playground and playing tag, never guns. Never, ever guns. Killing people was out of the question.

xxxxxClutching her bag, she slid it away from her, as a new group of people entered the building. Still teared up, she said, "I don't understand and I want to go home!" By now she was bawling on the cold cement floor, afraid to even look at the other members of her squadron.

Seven nodded. Yes yes, Two was getting it!

"Great! So...one more, maybe? Groups of three sound nice." There didn't seem to be that many shadows out in the fog and someone did say that small groups would be best. In reality he was glad that Two decided to join him; going alone was probably something he would have done...and even he knew that was stupid.

"So, who else wants to g---" Seven paused, turning to look at twelve. In lieu of a grin, he raised a gloved hand to give a thumbs up. "Great! Twelve, welcome to the group. Lets go, yeah?"

Gamma Seven disappeared outside.

Nodding to Seven, he glanced back at the rest of the group. It seemed like Five was a little confused with their situation, but one of the others could work on briefing her. He wanted to see just who the blue team was.. if that was the blue team. It seemed like a pretty safe assumption. Drawing out his weapon just in case, he went on and followed Gamma Seven out.

"Back into the rabbit hole we go.." he murmured before wondering why the hell he just said that.

8 stayed behind, if not only because teams of three were indeed enough. She eyed the childlike sobbing in the corner and looked away. They had to stay strong, if they were going to survive. Thirteen was not many people. Those who were not willing to bring their gun with them, rubber pellets or not, were going to end up on the sadder side. She was all for her team, but not if they were only going to weigh them down. What if the other team heard?

She hugged herself again and remained in her corner. 12 and 2 would come back, right? They had to...

Oh s**t, there were people? There were people! Three very suddenly stopped kicking the remaining cots and took off out the tent after the other.

((G3 is headed out to be totally diplomatic with the blue team. Totally.))

She'd actually been keen on staying put where she was, but it seemed 12 had been volunteered to go out into the fog again. So, standing, she bid a final wave into the tent, before stepping out through the flap and back out into the fog.

Four watched as the scouting team came back, the first thought on her mind was to ask for the map back. She had found it, and taken the initiative to take it in the first place, she thought she deserved to have it back. That was easier said than done, not knowing who held onto the map now.

She didn't even have a chance to ask as most the people left again. Sighing she watched their departing backs, what were the chances her map was walking out with one of them. She was just about to follow after them when the sound of crying of all things reached her ears. Turning she stared at Five incredulously, was she seriously crying? That wouldn't help anyone, if anything it made the situation worse.

Her eyes flicked to the gun that had been pushed away, did she not want it? "There is no going home." She crossed the tent and bent down quickly picking the gun up, if Five didn't want it she wasn't going to let it go to waste. "You're not going to survive if you keep crying like that." She shook her head, eyes hard behind her gas mask, this wasn't a place for children.

The gun was slid into her belt on the opposite hip as her dagger and she looked around. "Hey, Eight, do you know where the map is?"

8 lifted the paper in her hands. The rest of what had once been her group has left, and in enough of a rush to leave her and 1 alone with the map. She just as quickly tugged it back to her chest, though, and shook her head.

"You can't have it back. If they're gone for good, we can take it together, but you can't have it back." What were the chances that 4 would take it and run off with it again? Sure, it didn't have all that much use yet, but who knew? In fact, she sat down under the tent and began to pick dirt out from between the street cobbles.

"From what I saw, we're about here," she said, smearing a little streak of brown on the map, "and the other team, they might be blue, they're somewhere over here."

If she made herself useful, maybe they'd keep her around, right?

"The fog is too thick to try and find our way out just yet, but if it clears we should be able to move further. There are... probably more teams. They probably have the same initiative."

Four frowned behind her gas mask, hands on her hips. She had a feeling she wasn't going to get the map back when she had first let it go. For a moment she thought about fighting about it and demanding it back, but it wasn't worth it. It was a map, and while it could lead them places that didn't really help when they were on an island with no way off.

She moved closer to Eight and the map looking down at it as she pointed out where they were. Another team? Maybe now would be a good time to bring up Nine's suggestion of attacking in a group. Although, a group of them had just gone out to talk to the others, so maybe not. She nodded, her arms crossing over her chest as she studied the map. "I'd guess there's at least two more groups at each landmark marked on the map so that's what? Eight more groups? And if they all have twelve people..." She trailed off doing the math, surprised that she remembered her times tables. "Ninety-six people total. That seems like a lot." She bit her lip, maybe her math was wrong, or maybe they weren't that many other groups. Taking ninety-six down to thirteen would be a lot of death.

Only thirteen.

"There probably are, and they're more likely to deal with each other than with us first," 8 postulated. Ninety-six seemed like a pretty decent estimate for the amount of people they had been with initially. To be one of the survivors was a slim chance, and she steeled herself for the inevitable.

By the end of this week, she would be a murderer.

"It might even be a good idea to stand our ground until we're approached directly. Let them destroy themselves from the inside. There's eight of us now, that's a good group for defending, but not so much for attacking. Unless we want to break into four and four. 12 and 2... they were good assets, and they've gone now for who knows how long. When this probationary period is up, we may be in trouble."

Four nodded when Eight mentioned that the other groups would probably thin each other out. She hadn't thought about that, and it took a bit of her anxiousness away, they wouldn't have to kill all ninety-six people themselves. But she knew now, looking at the numbers that there was no way she would make it through the week without killing someone. It didn't bother her all that much, honestly. In a situation where her life was on the line she was going to save herself.

"Maybe, I'm not sure how long we could get away with just staying in the tent though. And I'm wary of that other team that's close to us, they could attack us at any moment." Just because they hadn't yet didn't mean they wouldn't. She looked around the tent and then back to Eight, she had lost track of who had left and who had stayed, not committing numbers to faces quite yet. "We should wait while longer and see if the others come back. Then we can split into two groups of six, or three groups of four. Even if we split up I still think we should all stick somewhat close together. That way if we get attacked the others can come and help." Honestly Four felt better having eleven people at her back than just three. There was more of a chance of her staying alive if she was in a larger group.

She glanced at the tent with a contemplative look nobody could see. "I wonder if the others are friendly, or if they just went and got themselves killed going out after them."

Nine had watched as the group that had gone scouting returned. She was waiting for a moment for everyone to be quiet so that she could try and get the plan across to them all. There was never a moment when everyone was quiet, and before long people were leaving again.

In a bout of frustration, Nine stood as tall as she could (which was pretty tall granted) and shouted as loud as the mask would let her, "AYVERYBODY! Pay Attenzion! Ve need zink a plan. Ve moost survive!" She hoped she had everyone's attention who was left in the tent now, "If ve vant survive, ve moost keel ayveryone else first." The second half of the sentence came out in a horrific tone, eery, like she was not unfamiliar with death.

The next part of her speech had more of a concrete plan of action involved, now if only she could communicate it better. "Ve moost move like groop, togezer ve take ozers out. Ve vill find dem, ve vill live."

xxxxxFive was shocked at the new girl's apparent bluntness. Not going home? she thought. Rather, she thought, before it was pushed off by another thought. The gun. What would she do about it? Would she take it? Would she leave it?

xxxxxShe looked over to the two girls, now talking at the table. You're not going to survive if you keep crying like that. The brisque woman's words repeated over and over in her head. Sniffling she stood up and grabbed the bag. As though it was death itself (which, ironically, it was) she nodded and said, "I ... I'll take it ma'am." Five took the gun from the lady and rolled it around in her hands a bit. Her hands were rather tiny, being a child and all, but the gun fit nicely in between her pointer finger and her thumb. As though it was made just for her.

xxxxxFive's hands were shaking.

xxxxxDetermined, she stuffed the gun back into a pocket on her armor, hoping to drown out the thunderous noise it seemed to make in her mind. Getting up, she grabbed her backpack and slung it over her shoulders. It seemed like all of this new gear she was receiving weighed more and more on her with each piece. Especially the handgun. She could feel it, knocking against the outer side of her thigh. She was practically terrified that it would go off right then and there and blast her leg off.

xxxxxThe woman was right, this was no place for a child. The two adults, apparently called four and eight, began talking of attacking each other like it was a daily task, like brushing your teeth or petting your cat. "W-wait! You don't mean to say you're really going to attack people, are you! I mean ... I mean ... that's ..." She looked down, ashamed. She teared up again, but promised herself she wouldn't cry in front of the four lady. Not a second time.

"I agree," 8 nodded, her hands trembling softly. Would she be able to stab someone to death? They were just numbers, she assured herself. Numbers just like her.

"I doubt they've gotten themselves killed, at least this quickly," she continued, looking out toward the tent flap. They had mostly seemed like perfectly reasonable individuals and well-armed ones at that. Perhaps they were making allies, which could be a curse and a blessing. "It didn't look like a whole lot of the other team. They would be evenly-matched at best."

Of course, her attention was then drawn to their loudly-screaming companion.

"This group is too large. Even I agree. We'll wait and see if 2, 3 and 12 return, and then we can decide." She was biased toward certain members of their squad, and it was obvious.

Eleven, who'd been silent through the whole exchange, looked up, "....Being on our own is not going to do us any good. I for one intend on looking out for myself and my teammates....I'm not going to go rushing out there headlong though. It doesn't seem wise."
