hobbies: Magie's absolute favourite hobbie is writing. She is not sure why she enjoys it so much, but it is most likely because she has difficulty talking to people, and so instead pours out her emotions onto paper. For this reason Magie keeps a journal, in which she writes down her feelings about events, but not necessarily about the events themselves. While there is little doubt that she could be an amazing fictional writer due to her imagination, Magie prefers to write about non-fictional events.
Magie's favourite class, and an enjoyable hobby of hers, is potions. Something about creating concoctions from completely different materials sparks her interest and curiosity. Unlike most students, she does not enjoy making potions for the product, but for the chemistry behind it. She excels at the class because of her knowledge behind the theory. Because it is difficult for Magie to make potions at home where there are no magical ingredients, or in her own dormitory, she spends most of her spare time in the potions classroom performing the same reactions over and over until she has a solid grasp on it.
One of Magie's most surprising and unexpected hobby is singing. She herself cannot identify why she enjoys singing, there is no science or logic behind it besides simply anatomy, which she rarely enjoys. Singing soothes Magie, some things are better expressed through song than paper in her opinion. Despite her practice, Magie is not an amazing singer. She is not bad, of course, and many enjoy listening to her, but there are certainly better. It does not bother her though, all that matters is that she enjoys it, who cares what others think? wardrobe: Magie generally prefers dresses and skirts to pants, often choosing to wear warm colours with gold accents. Around the school she wears the regular school uniform - black vest with golden trims, black pleated skirt and a black cloak. She often wears a black headband in her hair when she hasn't got it tied back, and she keeps her cloak closed with a golden broach her mother gave to her when she left for Hogwarts. She often wears black ballet flats with the white uniform socks, however these tends to slip and roll down and she simply doesn't feel the need to pull them back up again.
other: Even though she doesn't often get the chance to wear it, Magie loves her black witch hat. She wears it as much as possible and even felt so attached as to customize it with a golden gem which hangs neatly off the tip.school details house: Hufflepuff

hated classes: None, Magie can see potential knowledge in all fields... even Divination. The exception is flying. As the only subject that requires something other than knowledge, it is not surprising that Magie loathes flying. She sees no appeal to flying around aimlessly when you could be studying. While the theory behind flying would normally intrigue Magie, the physical part of the class is so off-putting she puts little effort into reading about it. It doesn't help that she isn't nearly as naturally inclined to the sport as most others.

• • • • details personality While it takes Magie a long time to warm up to people, once she has become attached to them she is extremely loyal. Nothing can shake her belief in someone's personality and strengths once she has assessed them for long enough, meaning that any rumours she may hear of people that conflict with these are shrugged off. This makes her one of the greatest allies to have, because while she is not very physically loving, Magie will never leave someone's side once she is there. The only way that Magie would ever abandon a friend would be if she personally saw physical evidence of any bad deeds they may carry out.
Because of her more logical mindset, Magie is very patient with others. She sees little value in hurrying someone along if it will prove to have lesser quality results or frustrate the person. Even in some of the most stressful situations Magie is patient, especially with others, and is willing to spend hours ironing out any problems people may have. The only situation in which she may be a little more rushed would be if others were in danger and someone was taking too long to make a decision. In such a scenario she would rush in and help them, and most likely apologize for doing so afterwards.
Magie sees the good in everyone, but can also see the faults in others, causing her to be unusually just for her age. Like many other Hufflepuffs she wants fair play for everyone, but this isn't necessarily because of her compassion. Nothing bothers Magie more than injustice, especially if by giving someone else an advantage others are put in risk. She is very protective in this way, even if she doesn't show it. She may have difficulty showing it but Magie does love people and is very caring deep down. For this reason she wants everyone to have a fair chance to show how amazing they can be. history On the twenty ninth of February, a child was born who would change the world. Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but who knows? Even as a baby Magie had a spark of life like no other. She learned to walk and talk at an incredibly young age, and was reading almost as quickly. She wanted knowledge. Never had her parents seen such a curious child, one that was constantly asking questions and contemplating her surroundings. It was no surprise, really, that Magie became a little anti-social. She wasn't interested in people, other than how they work. Why bother with the drama created by mood swings when you can try and find out what causes them? Even with her loving parents and friendly brother she rarely left her room. It wasn't that she didn't love or appreciate them - she knew how lucky she was to have them and wouldn't know what to do without them - she just didn't feel the need to build relationships when you could build intelligence. That's not to say she didn't like people, she certainly accepted any friendship that came her way, she just had better things to do than try to get to know them.
It didn't help that Magie's father was locally famous for his music; people around the neighbourhood were always approaching her and attempting to be her friend so they could go home and meet him. She just shrugged them off, and at one point to satisfy them arranged for her father to do a live a performance at the local auditorium. This just caused more fans pawing over her. Although she was home-schooled, as most magical children are, her parents often forced Magie to attend social conventions with them. They insisted that she needed the social interaction, so she would always have to tag along to her father's shows. These events were always despised by her, especially when Simon was away at Hogwarts resulting in her having to endure them alone. Then the miracle letter arrived.
Something to take Magie away from her annoying neighbours! Hogwarts offered her a chance to not only escape from the place where most people knew her family, but to also gain a huge amount of knowledge that she previously did not have access to. Neither Magie nor her brother had any idea about their father's pure blood heritage as he never used magic in the household, and while Simon was confronted by his ability to wield magic, Magie was not even fazed. She begged her parents to let her go and eventually her mother caved in. Ecstatic at the thought of escaping popularity and a gaining of wisdom she counted down the days to her departure. With a swift goodbye to her parents and brother she was on the train and heading for Hogwarts, her future.
the sorting: Besides her great grandparents, all of Magie's magical family had been sorted into Gryffindor for their bravery, loyalty and thirst for adventure. Even Simon had been sorted into the lion's house. However, everyone knew Magie would be different. Everyone knew that Magie would be put in Ravenclaw. With her love for knowledge being the number one thing driving her, where else could she possibly be placed? Despite everyone telling her this, Magie did not stress over which house she was sorted in. It was just a colour after all, and there were friendly people in all of them - even Slytherin. So on that day she simply sat on the stool, placed the hat on her head and waited for judgement. Without hesitation the hat called Huffelpuff. If her parents had been there they would have fainted from shock. Hufflepuff? Wasn't that for those caring people who can't stand not being around others? With a small smile Magie hopped off the stool to join her housemates, not surprised in the slightest. Later she would write in her journal, describing how she was not surprised the hat could see through her shyness and realize that, deep down, Magie could not survive without other people, and that she would give up knowledge any day to save the ones she loved. other strengths: Independent, Knowledgeable, Loyal, Caring, Easy to get Along With

likes: Not surprisingly, Maige loves books. Be they fictional or non-fictional, she can gain enjoyment and appreciate all pieces of texts. There is one exception; poetry. Magie never understood poetry, especially ones that follow no mathematical structure. She feels that anything you can express through poetry could be beautifully described in a solid piece of text. She loves to bury herself in books, and has spent most of her life by herself reading. This can make her appear antisocial despite her love for people.
More than anything else in the world, Magie loves knowledge. Few things in life make her happier than gaining new knowledge. It does not matter what it is about, she loves to know about everything. Magie has a lot of facts and theories stored in her head that can be both handy and useless. It does not matter; the fact that she knows it is what is important. Luckily she does not love blurting out what she knows so she does not appear as a know-it-all. Magie's thirst for knowledge is probably what led to her love for books. Also, there is nothing that she finds more alluring than someone who also appreciates and contains knowledge.
Not surprisingly, Magie loves privacy. It's not that she doesn't love people and spending time with them, she just feels so awkward around others. Who feels uncomfortable around themselves and a pile of books? Privacy allows her to express whatever she wants, in whichever way she wants, and hates when people don't respect her desire for it. Of course Magie would never request privacy from others and simply enjoys whatever little amount of alone time she can get. Unfortunately she is rather shy and dislikes people knowing much about her, leading to people finding it difficult to get close to her. Once Magie shows you her writings, you know you're in!
dislikes: Strangers frighten Magie to the point that she cannot speak. No one - not even Magie - knows why she hates strangers so much. Maybe it's the lack of information she has, maybe it's because she hasn't had time to analyze them or maybe it's just because she is innately shy. Whatever it is, she has never been able to talk to new people and for this reason lacks friends. This does disappoint her because she loves people, she just hates that stage that leads to friendship. It's a rather cruel thing, really.
Because of her fear of strangers, Magie strongly dislikes social conventions. She will go if she has to, and won't necessarily have a bad time, it's just that she'd rather be back in her dormitory reading. If she is to ever get to know someone it's more likely that it's because they are alone together than if she is at a big event where she is overwhelmed by the presence of people she doesn't know. Despite this Magie does love dressing up in fancy dresses and whatnot, so this is an advantage to attending social gatherings.
Magie loves knowledge, so on the contrast, she hates obliviousness. She understands if people cannot know what she would like them to, but when others have the ability and resources to learn but choose not to.. that really aggravates her. Why not learn as much as you can? This lack of motivation to learn usually leads to them being oblivious about what she's talking about, meaning she can't have an intellectual conversation with them, resulting in a very frustrated Magie.

accessories: A little yellow bow on her shell. It surprised Magie how much the snail liked the identification, and she always seems distressed when it falls off. details Magie discovered Anna one day while she was examining the environment of their backyard. It was during a weird phase Magie was going through where she was obsessed behind the science of nature. Annabelle, being a more special snail than most, immediately caught the little girl's attention. She didn't see the creatures often, and so she adopted and caged the snail for dissection. But when she saw the cute little thing examining its new home, Magie knew she couldn't harm it. They've been 'friends' ever since, her parents only allowing her to keep it because they knew Magie couldn't maintain the upkeep of any other pet.
Anna has a lot of personality for a snail! People don't expect much from even magical snails, and honestly there probably are better familiars out there. But Anna is loyal to Magie, and although all she really does is explore her bed, she will always be there for her. • • • •
