Claire was completely oblivious to both the young man on the bench and what he was currently looking at (luckily for him). Violet eyes watched the Absol as she flew into the bush, wincing slightly internally. That had to hurt..
Zeus, however, merely grinned maliciously and righted himself, noting that the two Bite attacks in succession had hurt his left hind leg enough to cause him to limp. He growled, cheeks sparking, before he launched another Thunderbolt at his opponent.
The sort-of familiar smell was back, and getting stronger. It was.. it was.... What was it? He frowned, ears twitching as he stood on his back legs and lifted his nose into the air to get a better whiff of it. It was...
...chocolate. And not just any chocolate, it was the same delicious, expensive fancy chocolate he'd almost died in (and would have been quite happy to die in it too, if it hadn't been for Mr. Scar-man). Zeus quickly whipped his head around, green eyes wide as he searched for the source of the -- there. With an excited "chu!" he abandoned the battle and bolted off towards the pretentious young man on the bench. The Pikachu had never seen this man anywhere on the base before, so he felt it safe to assume he was fully allowed to jump on him and steal his chocolate, and that's exactly what he would do. When he was close enough - limp or no limp, thank you very much - he jumped up and attempted to land at least in his lap, but preferably on his arms so it would be easier to get his prize.

The Thunderbolt was almost enough to knock Tortie out, but she clung onto consciousness (mostly through sheer bloodymindedness) and continued struggling against the confines of the bush. No dumb stinking rat was going to get another cheap shot at her! When she did manage to extricate herself, however, the electric type was not where she expected it to be. It was, in fact, in the process of leaping onto a male human she didn't recognize. In the middle of a battle? Really? Well fine, she'd take advantage of his lapse in concentration... or maybe she'd just have a bit of a rest. Panting heavily the Absol sat down, her head drooping wearily; just a bit of a rest and she'd be ready to go again.
As Zeus made his sudden diversion, Aulus raised an eyebrow and gave a snort of amusement. "Yea," he smirked at Claire, "just let him do what he wants!" Sniggering to himself, the scarred man moved over to Tortie and squirted her first with a paralyse-heal and then with a super potion; might as well take advantage of Zeus' chocolate fixation.
The young man on the bench was much less amused than Aulus; when the sparking beast sprung at him he gave a yelp of shock and dropped his chocolate, springing away from his assailant. "Hey," he cried in indignation, reaching to his belt and grabbing a pair of pokeballs, "what the hell do you think you're doing? Charmeleon, Growlithe, go!" As the two fire types appeared, the not so chilled poser gestured frantically towards the pikachu. "Keep that thing away from me!" he ordered. "Little s**t's probably rabid or something!"

At first when Zeus ran off in the middle of the battle for chocolate (no surprise there), Claire was immediately irritated with him. But, upon seeing the target - or the one who held the target, anyway - she changed her mind. Especially when he loosed two unique pokemon, though the Charmeleon definitely had more distinctive markings. "I will," she retorted with a light smirk as Aulus commented on what should have been an embarrassment. Obviously it wasn't.
Zeus didn't care about the human or his two fire-types. All he cared about was the chocolate he'd dropped in the process of getting away from him. With an elated cry, the chubby Pikachu quickly grabbed the chocolate in his mouth and ducked underneath the bench to devour his prize. Slowly, of course. He wanted to savor it.
The Growlithe appeared with ears perked and tail up, ready for -- oh. A Pikachu? Well that was boring. She sat down on her fluffy rump with a huff, reaching a hind leg up to scratch at an ear as her eyes shut to better enjoy the feeling. Even though her eyes were shut, her nose was working perfectly. Mm, the park. The grass and trees always smelled lovely. She could also pick out the smell of chocolate, the offending Pikachu, two different types of potions (though she wasn't quite sure which they were exactly), the Charmeleon beside her, her new owner, two other humans, and.. an Absol, though the potions had almost blocked that scent out, as had.. bushes? Hmm, they'd probably been battling or something. She was glad her new owner hadn't made her battle yet. Her nose was much more useful, in her opinion. Once her hind paw was back on the ground, two bright orange eyes peered up at the two humans curiously. They were always so full of different smells, though these two had a lot of similar smells on them. The usual human smells, as well as car and delicious food. Mmm, food.. On that thought, she turned to her owner and looked up at him hopefully. "Gwurr?"

Tortie had been ready to jump back into the fight when two strange pokemon appeared. A rumbling growl began at the back of her throat, and she put the battle out of mind for now; what had the fire types been let out for? Was their trainer planning to battle against her or the rat? If they both went for the rat, she supposed she'd jump in; it was an ally after all, and the strangers were not.
Hu. Nice. Aulus studied the pair of pokemon thoughtfully, wondering if he could get away with knocking the pink-shirted p***k on his arse and taking the pokeballs. Probably not; it was broad daylight, and the trainer looked like a squealer. Pity, he would have liked to get his hands on both of them. Still, even if he couldn't steal from the expensively dressed wanker he could at least intimidate him a bit. "Hey; watch how you talk about my friend's pokemon, you little poof," he growled, not actually stalking over to the other man but definitely giving the impression that he might be considering it. "You don't want to make me angry," he added, "for clichéd reasons you can probably guess at."
"Hey! You can't talk to me like that!" the orange-tanned young man cried, sounding as though he was about an inch from stamping his foot in a tantrum. "And would somebody control that Pikachu? It's eating my chocolate! I hope one of you is planning to pay for it!"
Beside the indignant human, the Charmeleon gave a slight sigh and closed its eyes. Humiliating. How he loathed that whining tone of voice, where was his trainer's pride?

"I could certainly stop him if you want," Claire started, clearly unperturbed by him insulting Zeus - she did it all the time, after all - and put her hands on her hips. "But I didn't think you'd want to eat that chocolate still after it had not only fallen on the grass, but now it has Pikachu slobber all over it. You'd still eat it after all that? That's disgusting, but I guess some people..." Here she shrugged nonchalantly, letting him finish the sentence for himself and hoping he took offense to it and pointedly avoiding the topic of who would be paying for it. Arceus, he sounded like a whiny 10 year old. Had he no shame? Though, Aulus stepping in and getting all growly at the pretentious idiot was mildly amusing and she couldn't help but wonder why he'd done it.
Zeus, despite the arguing and whining, continued to happily devour the chocolate. Mmmm... He was in heaven.
The Growlithe, upon being completely ignored by the whiny young man, allowed her ears - actually her whole countenance - to droop considerably in disappointment. This lasted for just a few moments before she turned to the fire-type next to her, tilting her head slightly. "ever. I want to find something.>" That's what her nose was for, after all.

"I don't want to eat it, I want you to pay for it!" the pink-shirted man squawked. After a glance between the two trainers and their pokemon, however, he folded his arms and kicked sullenly at a pebble; he didn't think his pair would be much of a match for the Absol and Pikachu after watching their battle... Well, seeing their battle in the background whilst looking at the woman's tuchus. "Forget it," he muttered, "I'll just get another."
"Damn right you will," Aulus sneered, looking the smaller man up and down disdainfully, "and you'll stop whining like a little girl too if you like your fancy sunglasses in one piece." It was ages since he'd broken anyone's glasses, sun or otherwise. He probably shouldn't go around causing too much of a fuss, but even if he couldn't do anything physical he reserved the right to berate stupid little poofters like this. Tortie seemed to have similar feelings; she had turned her attention away from the two fire types and was now glaring at their trainer. Hu, maybe she found his voice as annoying as he did. Feeling rather fond of her at that moment in time, Aulus patted the dark type absent-mindedly on the head.
Giving another sigh the Charlemon opened his eyes and turned to his companion. he responded, He was not one to disobey orders or to encourage others to do so, but the only orders they had been given were to keep the Pikachu away, and it seemed it was doing that of its own accord. If it did make a move for their trainer he would stop it but it didn't look like it would, and the less time Growlithe spent around their trainer the better. She should not have such a master inflicted upon her. Nor should he.

"" She asked, jumping up to all fours in a slight play-stance with her big fluffy tail waving. Well, if he thought so, then she would find the best, most interesting smelling stick she could! So, before he could reply, she quickly barked "" before jumping onto the bench and then over the back of it in one swift motion, and within a moment had disappeared into the bushes. It had been between her and the nearest copse of trees, after all, and going around it would have taken far too much time. Plus she may or may not have been a little excited at the prospect of finding a stick.
"Good," Claire said as she watched the Growlithe jump over the bench and into the trees with an eyebrow slightly raised, curious as to where the brightly colored canine was off to. "I wasn't going to pay for it anyway." Why would she?
The chubby Pikachu finally finished the heavenly bar of chocolate, and he flopped onto his back on the grass with a contented sigh. He stayed like that a moment before shoving his paws onto his face, attempting to get every taste of chocolate off his face and paws. There was a reason his owner never watched him while he ate.

the Charmelon sighed, lifting his head to look up at his trainer. Why had he been sold to this man? He could scarcely imagine a worse master.
"Hey," the pink-shirted man exclaimed as one his two pokemon took off. "Growlithe where do you think you're going; get back here!"
As the puppy pokemon vanished into the bushes, Aulus rolled his eyes. "Really good control you've got there," he sneered, "world class stuff. When you manage to get your little pet back are you going to sod off and let the grown-ups alone? I for one am already sick to the back teeth of the sight of you, you gel-haired orange poof." He supposed there wasn't much hope of the battle carrying on with Zeus full of chocolate, but he didn't care much about that; he just wanted the little whiny s**t out of his sight.

The phrase 'gel-haired orange poof' made Claire snicker lightly as she leaned her weight onto one foot. He really was sort of orange, wasn't he? She never understood what was so appealing about tanning, fake or otherwise. It was all just a quicker, one-way ticket to skin cancer.
Oh! He wanted her to come back! Copious amounts of rustling, as well as a trail of shaking bushes, were the result of the Growlithe attempting to get back to her new master as quickly as possible. She finally sprang out of the bushes, a thick stick clamped tightly in her teeth - the most interesting smelling one she could find in such short a time; she loved challenges! - with her fluffy tail wagging. She didn't seem to notice that her glossy, well-groomed coat was now covered in leaves and twigs. She happily pranced back to the irritating young man she was forced to call a master and proudly set the stick by his feet before setting bright orange eyes at him. "Growf!" She'd gotten a stick! He'd be pleased now, right?

A scowl spread across the young man's face as his newest pokemon reappeared, and he took both her pokeball and his Charmeleon's pokeball from his belt. "Return, both of you," he commanded, and red beams of light enveloped the two fire types. Still scowling he clipped the two pokeballsback to his belt. Giving a slight huff he shouldered his bag, turned his back on Aulus and Claire and started to stalk off.
By Aulus' side, Tortie was thinking. They stole pokemon now, and those were good looking pokemon. He wasn't paying enough attention to her. Hu. Well, he'd regret that in a minute. Nobody was watching her... Grinning to herself Tortie vanished from view with a Faint Attack and raced towards the target. Instead of attacking him, however, she grabbed the pokeballs from his belt and rushed back over to her trainer. Only a moment after she had started her manoeuvre she was visible once more, back where she'd started. Now, however, she had two pokeballs in her mouth. Her trainer was going to be so pleased with her, and feel so stupid for ignoring her for the human female.
"Hu," Aulus reached down to stroke Tortie's head as the stupid little poser got further away, "well at least he's gone. What a little priss."

"Mmh, good riddance," she replied with a roll of her eyes. That kid seriously needed to tone down his tanning bed usage. "I felt like I was getting skin cancer just looking at him. Zeus, feel like continuing your battle now that you've stuffed yourself?" She asked the Pikachu as he limped over, but in response he simply flopped onto his back on the grass.
"Chuu," he sighed and flung his short arms over his eyes. He just ate, why would he want to battle now? Humans were so dumb sometimes.
"Guess that's a no." Oh well. She rolled her eyes at him before peering first at Tortie, then at Aulus. "So what now?"

"Uhh... I don't know," the red-eyed man shrugged, "I guess we could go-"
Tortie was chocking on something. "What's wrong girl?" Aulus dropped to his knees beside his pokemon and laid a hand on her bony shoulders, worry etched onto his scarred face. She hadn't eaten anything recently, she didn't get hairballs so what could be in her throat?
A moment later his question was answered; giving an almighty cough, the Absol spat out a pair of pokeballs before turning to her trainer with a look that was half embarrassed half triumphant. How did he like her now? It would have been better if she hadn't half inhaled one and been able to turn them over at a more dramatic moment, but she supposed this was still better than nothing.
Aulus stared at the two red and white spheres in silence for some moments, a grin slowly spreading across his face. "Nice job Tortie," he murmured, picking up the slightly saliva-covered capsules and wiping them clean on the leg of his trousers before slipping them away in a pocket. "Looks like you're better at our job than I am," he added, ruffling her mane and beaming like a proud papa. Two new pokemon. Today was turning out well!

One moment he was in the middle of suggesting something, and the next Tortie was choking on.. something. But what? Her brow furrowed as she leaned down a bit - not like she could really do anything, but it was a subconscious is-there-something-I-can-do reaction nonetheless - but after a moment it was obvious there wasn't anything to do, as the pair of slobbery pokeballs plopped onto the grass.
"Looks like she is better than you at your job," she agreed with a slight chuckle, straightening up again. The chubby Pikachu sat up as soon as he heard coughing - he didn't want to get puked on, after all - and caught a glimpse of the balls before they slid into the scar-man's pocket. Where did she get those? He had, like the humans, completely missed the Absol's sneaky thievery. "Anyway, what now?" Now that Tortie wasn't choking on stolen pokeballs, that is.

"Hu?" Aulus looked up from making a fuss of Tortie, trying to get his train of thought back on track. "Oh yea, right," he nodded slightly, "I was going to suggest we go off to the outpost. My bike's there, and my camera. I don't know when I'm going to get an afternoon off again, so I'd like to go for a ride and take some pictures... If you don't mind taking me there in the car. You can come ride with me or whatever if you want." So long as he got to go he didn't really care if heh ad to offer Claire a little bribe. He missed the open road. It had been rough in places - sleeping in a different place each night, sometimes out under the stars - but liberating too. He'd had worries, but at least they hadn't been ethical ones. Maybe he should just have gone home, but if he'd done that, he wouldn't ever have seen Claire again... And that mattered why? Ugh, whatever, he'd made his bed and now he had to sleep in it, for better or for worse.
Humm, yes, this was better. Tortie rumbled contentedly; her trainer might be looking at and speaking to the human female but he was still stroking her. He knew now how valuable and important she was and how much he should appreciate her. He would take those two pokemon back to the big secret den and hand them in and he would look very good indeed and it was all because of her. It was only right that he lavished attention upon her, she would bring great things to him.

"Oh, sure," she replied with a shrug. "Sounds good to me." They were going all over Camphoreon today, weren't they? Oh well, it wasn't like it was a big deal or anything. It was nice to be off base, and she was sure he felt infinitely more glad to be out in the city again. It wasn't as if trainees got to go to the city whenever they wanted, after all, and before coming to Team Rocket, Aulus hadn't seemed to really stay in one place too long. She couldn't help but wonder how he was adjusting, though he seemed to be fine with everything so far. She didn't blame him for wanting to go for a ride on his bike again, either.
Though, what 'come ride with me' entailed completely escaped her, and this was that she'd be riding on the bike with him in very close quarters. Touching him. Again. For better or worse, the thought didn't occur to her at all, and as she walked past the bench she extended her hand towards it. Zeus, picking up on the hint, quickly jumped to his feet and ran to the bench, hopping onto it after a brief moment of trouble due to his hip, and thereafter jumped onto her arm before proceeding to clamber up onto her shoulder.
