Timothy had been awake for hours. Obviously he had not been through the ordeal that had worn at Avery. But he'd been content to lay there, Avery snuggled against him, various famous love songs (and a few of his own creation) going through his head.
He softly stroked a bit of Avery's hair with his hand, wondering if this was what love was. It probably wasn't, but Timothy was infatuated and even lustful towards Avery. Still, at the moment, the most important part to him right now was that all he wanted, was to be with Avery.

Avery slept very well for someone who was curled up inside a burrow with someone who was half skunk. One of his arms was draped across Timothy, and he was curled up against his side, Avery's head resting on Timothy's shoulder. He shifted slightly at the first touch on his hair, turning his face to nuzzle the soft fur, thinking - for a moment - that he was back at home, safe in his bed with lots of soft pillows and stuffed animals.
Of course, after a few moments, he opened his eyes, and reality came back to him in a rush. I'm really trapped on an island. Will I ever get used to this? he wondered sleepily, as he slowly woke up. He felt someone stroking his hair (and boy, did that feel nice), and he lifted his head off Timothy's shoulder to look at him, and he offered a small smile to the other boy. "Um... g'morning..." the words were mumbled, as he wasn't fully awake quite yet.

Timothy realized Avery was stirring and he pulled his hand away from Avery's hair. Embarrased, he pulled his hand away as quickly as he could.
"H...h...hey. Good morning, did you ummm sleep alright?" Timothy was very embarrased and he had to admit in a way, disappointed. But it was nice to see Avery awake.

Avery stretched as much as he could, and yawned, rubbing his eyes before he replied. "Yeah... for the most part. Did you?" he asked, reaching up to rub the sore spot on the back of his neck. He made a face then, and looked down at his hand. "Ew... I forgot about the candy necklace. Gross, it's all sticky now," he sighed, carefully pulling the candy necklace off, making sure not to get any of his hair caught in it. The salt water and the rain had caused all the colors to wash off. Avery glanced around for a place to put it, then decided to just stick the necklace into his pocket, then wiped his hand off on his pants.

"Yeah... I slept... really well." Timothy grinned a bit. "But what a night eh?" Timothy still heard rain outside, it hadn't stopped.
"Sooner or later we are gonna have to get uncomfortable again to get food. But I can hold out a bit longer." Timothy noticed Avery hadn't really made any motion to pull away at all.

"Yeah, I know..." Avery sighed. "I can hold out for a little longer, too." He really didn't want to go out in the rain, but he was hungry. "I wonder how long the rain is going to last... I want to try and find Rex sometime later... I feel bad that I just abandoned him, even though I didn't do it on purpose. Will you come with me, or do you want to stay here?" Avery looked at Timothy, hoping he'd go with him. He really didn't want to wander around the forest alone. Who knows what he would run into?

Timothy started to worry, he wanted to go with Avery. But he didn't want to run into Vasile either, not this conflicted about his own thoughts. "I... I'll walk with you for a bit, when we find someone though, I'll go look for food for us."
Timothy smiled, it seemed like a decent idea. He hoped he'd be okay finding Avery again after this. He really wanted to stay with him, but he wasn't feeling comfortable with contact with anyone else till he sorted this all out.
Timothy helped Avery crawl out of the burrow, and back into the rain.
((Posting so that you can go RP, you can say that when you find someone to RP with Timothy sort of walks off as we are approaching them.))

"Alright, that sounds like a good plan. We'll probably end up at Ambrose's camp or something, so you can meet up there," Avery smiled at him. "Thanks."
He crawled out of the burrow with him, and helped him to stand back up when they got outside. Avery sighed at once again getting all wet, but he continued on anyway, walking with Timothy into the forest and the rain.

R o l e - P l a y _____________/ Welcome to the Wild: In which Avery is reunited with Colche and Rex, and finally find Ambrose's camp.
Avery Calder Avery felt like he had been walking for hours, even though he hasn't been walking for that long at all. The rain seemed like it would never end, and his legs ached from all the bruises and cuts he still had. He was hungry, having only eaten a small bit of jerky last night. He hoped Timothy would be able to find food for them and make it back to Ambrose's camp safely. The problem was... Avery didn't know where Ambrose's camp was, either. Now he was alone, lost, wet, and hungry... today was not shaping up to be a good day, either. Avery sighed heavily, but he kept walking. He figured if he just kept walking straight, he'd get somewhere eventually... no point in stopping now, to just keep getting rained on. "Hello!!?" he yelled out as loud as he could into the woods. Maybe someone would hear him, and come to his rescue... Avery could only hope. Colche "rainrain go away come again another day!" Despite her slight sniffles, Colche had decided to step out of her lean to and go for a wander in the jungle. She was a little confused about Ambrose at the moment and hadn't yet had a chance to question him about 'the lady' but she guessed she would find out eventually. Her arms were empty as she padded along though, her rabbit, as usual had wandered off while she slept. It was a good excuse to go and play in the jungle despite the rain. Something told her that her bunny would be back at 'number seventeen' her home if she went looking for him. The rain wasn't too bad now, you got used to it after a bit and the cheetah told her it was just 'the rainey season' Something instinctual told her that this was the time when the plants would get pretty and the 'beasts' would come back. She wasn't exactly sure what the beasts where, but she had the urge to look for them.
However she didn't come accross any 'beasts' just a somone who looked lost. Her mind went in to a turmoil as she looked at Avery, was this a boy or a girl? She always had problems, but she had'nt felt so conflicted as to whether somone was male or female for a while now. Biting her tongue in confusion she stepped through thre undergrowth seemingly not noticing any scrapes against her ancles "Hai" she smiled tilting her catty head and grinning, her huge blue eyes full of a deep, aviid curiosity. Avery Calder Avery nearly jumped when Colche stepped through the undergrowth and spoke to him. He hadn't expected calling out for help to actually work, and yet here the cheetah-girl was. He remembered meeting her briefly at the beach, but she hadn't stayed there long. If she didn't seem so innocent, Avery might have been afraid of her because of her claws. "Uh... hello there," Avery said. Why wasn't she wearing any clothes..? he wondered to himself. "Heh, I didn't think calling out to someone would work!" he smiled at Colche. "Do you know where Ambrose's camp is? I'm trying to find someone... oh! I don't think I got your name when we met on the beach? I'm Avery." Colche Colche continued to look at him, upon hearing his voice though she was pretty convinced boy, the name though, didn't strike ehr as male "Boy or girl?" she tilted her head softly looking at him her brow creasing and her tongue sticking out between her teeth, it was hard to decide. Avery spoke a whole lot, she caught, the baics of waht he was asking though "Me be Colche" she smiled innocently, with a little giggle. Her tongue stuck out once again as she pondered what else he was trying to ask "Ambrose uhmn..follow leader" shesmiles, still pondering Averys gender. her eyes were full of a sweet, innocent confusion as to the blond mans sexual identity. he really did look to girly to be a man, but he sounded like a man, maybe Avery was a bit of both. Until her question was answred she would be happy to beleive the blond was a bit of both. Giggling softly she wiggledehr stump of a tail "follow leader" she stated again padding off through the jungle, resisting, trying very hard to resist any way, breaking in to a run. The cheetah wanted to run, she just had toshow Avery Ambroses camp though before she challanegd him to a race. The rain didn't seem to hinder her much now, her fur, though wet seemed to bve sticking on end obviously keeping her body warm. She sneezed once though shaking her head she glanced back at Avery with a childish grin. still, she could play follow the leader with Avery right? Follow the leader after all meant she could lead Avery where ever she wanted to, it wasn't a mean stunt on her part at all, she just wanted to play, they would end up at Ambroses camp..eventuually. Avery Calder Avery raised his eyebrows in surprise, then laughed a little. This isn't the first time people couldn't figure out what his gender is, after all. "I'm a boy," he said, grinning at her. "Nice to meet you, Colche." When Colche told him to follow and began walking away, Avery had no choice but to go after her. It was better than wandering aimlessly, and she seemed to know where Ambrose's camp was, at least. Maybe they already have food there, he hoped. And maybe Rex was there too. "Alright, I'm right behind you," he said, following after her. "Is Ambrose's camp far away..?" Avery certainly hoped not... but he had no idea where it was, so Colche could lead him anywhere for as long as she wanted, and he wouldn't know she was just playing a game with him. Colche Colche was listening but his words didn't really register with her. She paused and tilted her head at him "Boy" her brow creased and she walked around him "Not fuzzy" sticking her tongue out, she looked, for a breif moment, a little frightened, but Ambrose had said noone would hurt her here, even if they werent' fuzzy. Nodding her head she smiled lightly "Ambrose, follow" she stated again her tiny stub of a tail twitching, maybe this game ould wait til later, just incase Avery wasn't a good man, she didn't know him, Ambrose would know. She started walking then, changing her direction entirely, the long way around didn't seem so much fun any more.
Turning to look at Avery, her only real scars that now remained on her body were on her chest, white lines penetrating the whorles that had formed since her first change. Noone really asked her about them any more. They were the reason why Colche made a direct beeline for the camp, that old, remembered fear, things had changed since the duplexses had locked. Without Aubrey here, would she be safe from men? She had never thought about it before, but her fears slowly creapt in to her mind as she padded along. She didn't know Avery at all, was he a bad man? or a good man like Ambrose? Avery Calder "Well, of course I'm not fuzzy," Avery said, "why would I be?" He noticed that she looked nervous for a moment, but he couldn't understand why. She was the one with claws, after all... if anyone should be nervous, it should be him. Avery was confused when they suddenly changed directons. Where was Colche leading him? Being a nineteen year old boy, he couldn't help glancing down at her chest when she turned to face him, and he noticed the scars. He felt a little uncomfortable asking about them, though. "Hey... d'you, uh, want to borrow my shirt and pants?" he offered as he followed her. He felt that she needed his clothes more than he did, and he had boxers on underneath anyway. He was glad for it this time, as he sometimes didn't wear anything underneath at all. "What happened to your clothes, anyway?" Colche Colche's ears twitched a little as he spoke "Cloths?" she tilted her head questioningly, it was nothing short of a mirricle for Colche to wear clothes at any time any way "Duplex" she stated simply pushing through the trees quietly her tail twitching nervously. She didn't quite get the rest of his sencence, her gaze twitching upwards as a bolt of lightning stretched accross the air "uhmm" she mumbled pouting a bit. Her huge, baby blue eyes searching for the source of the strange light.
She stayed still for only a moment though before she continued walking her legs trembled as she went, should she run? She could run faster than anyone, if she ran Avery wouldn't be able to catch her. But what if he was a good man? She would upset him then. The conflict going on in her head made her frown and bite her lip. What if Aubrey didn't come back would she be locked in the dark again? Would the bad men come back? Would she ever get to run on the beach again?
No, no, she had to be brave Aubrey had said so. Licking her already wet lips she smiled nervously at Avery "Ambrose soon" she wispered her ears twitching lat against her head. Rex Vadnais Rex had been tramping through the jungle for quite some time now, being sure to follow Awen's directions he'd mapped in his mind. He could only assume that he was going the right way since he really didn't have the slightest idea about the total size of the isladn or where in the world he was right now. His quick dip in the lake had soothed his wounds quite a bit and his neck didn't hurt anymore, but those ailments were replaced by the sniffing and running of his nose.
Stepping over logs and bushes, thwacking through the brush to clear a primative path, he continued on his way. He'd passed a few berry bushes and temporarily settled his roaring stomach, but he knew he'd be hungry again soon.
Then, he heard some voices coming up from behind. More islanders? He hoped it wouldn't be someone angry, he imagined a black man mixed with a tiger bounding through thicket, claws extended and fangs bared. He did see a cat... but it was no Jamal. That naked girl he'd met quickly on the beach and Avery fumbled towards him, "Guys!" He exclaimed, then turned back catch them, "I'm so glad you're all right!" Avery Calder Avery glanced around when he heard someone call out. The voice sounded familiar... and then he spotted Rex coming toward them. He felt relieved, and he hurried past Colche to meet up with Rex, immediately hugging the other man. "Rex!" he let go after a moment, stepping back to look at him. "I'm glad you're okay, too. I've been worried!" He felt like he owed Rex everything. If it weren't for him, he might have drowned out at sea... and it was because of him that Rex was here now, stuck on this island. He was glad to be reunited with someone that was familiar, and human. "I guess you weren't able to find Ambrose's camp, huh? Sorry we got seperated... I heard a stream and wanted to wash up in fresh water, but then I got lost." Colche Colche stood Silently as Avery pushed past her to greet the other man. Her ears flattened tightly against ehr head now as she waited. Her tail flickered behind her, the tiny stump twitching sparodically. Should she approach the two without Ambrose there? Her whole body spoke of feeling defencive then and she glanced around looking for an escape route. What if they were both bad men? She had that experience before. Nibbling her bottom lip nervously she stood still, trying to stay quiet though unfortunately perhaps, she sneezed, a loud, cute little sneeze which would certainly attract the attention of the other two.
her ;arge blue eyes rested upon them botha nd she trembled, Trembled for the first time in a very long time, but the shiver wasnt't from the cold of the rain, it was a touch of the unknown, fear of old times. She wanted Aubrey. Swallowing hard, she tried to stand tall while she continued to shiver, she had to be brave, noone would do anything unless she said so, Aubrey had said so all that time ago. They had to be good men, they had to be didn't they? Ambrose had said so.
Ambrose, of course, the camp wasn't too far away, if she could get them going quickly enough, Ambrose would protect her, if they were bad men, Ambrose would protect her. Rex Vadnais He was so relieved to see the two, he hugged Avery back, patting him, then pulled away and said, "Yeah! I went into the jungle after I wrung out my clothes and you were gone! I ended up on the other side of the island and met a girl who I stay with for the ni--" His sentence was interupted by a rather large sneeze. Rex turned to colche, "Oh! Bless you!"
He beamed, she looked so dang cute standing there in the rain while recouperating from her sneeze. Then he turned to her, remembering that there was something different about this girl. "Hey, I'm Rex, remember? We met on the beach, what was your name again?" He hunkered down a bit since he knew he must seem pretty big to this girl and gave another friendly smile. Avery Calder Avery looked back at Colche too when she sneezed, and he couldn't help thinking she looked adorable. "Bless you," he said as he went back over to her. "She was leading me to Ambrose's camp," Avery explained to Rex, smiling. He felt suddenly much better, especially that he was with Rex again and, although he didn't understand why considering they were trapped on an island, Rex appeared to be in a pretty good mood. Colche Colche was silent for a long moment watching rex, he bent down though and she looked down at him her ears twitching a little. He had every chance to attack her now, but he was smiling. They never smiled, at least, not in a friendly manner "Colche" she stated, her words as usual limited. She half smiled though she still looked a little frightened at the prospect of having two men around her now, two men she didn't know "Ambrose, nearly" she knew the words didn't fit quite right, but she took a step backwards towards Ambroses camp. She faintly remembered these men at last. Ian had seemed to know them and they hadn't hurt the deer man. "Me is Colche, Rex" she spoke in that paused, childish manner, she would definately feel better once she was back in Ambroses camp.
She realised though that neither man had hurt her yet, so despite the slight look of distrust in those huge, deep blue eyes she managed a tiny smile "Follow, Ambrose" she nodded a bit waiting for them though she still looked tense and nervous, she had definately relaxed a little. Rex Vadnais "Oh, you were going there too? I take it we both won't get our navigation merit badge, eh?" Rex playfully punched Avery in the shoulder, perhaps a bit than he meant it to be. "Ho'crap," he projected, "I didn't mean to hit you that hard, sorry." He blushed, not wanting to seem like an a**. "But yeah, i was going to his camp as well, the girl in the lake gave me directions." In any other context, that sentence would've just sounded weird.
Rex saw the cheetah cower and slightly stiffen. Cautious, he slowed his steps and spoke a bit softer as though talking to a baby or an animal, even though he knew that this girl was perfectly human on the inside. Or is she? Maybe she grew up here on the island as an unloved experiment and was never taught proper english. This island set his imagination on fire, but if someone could turn people into animals and pluck them from the outside world, this was a highly plausible thought in his mind.
"Colche? That a cute name," Rex whispered, "yeah, I remember now. The elk guy... Ian? He told us your name." Then the girl turned to go to Ambrose's camp, "Oh! Are you going to show us the way? Well that's nice of you, I was worried about getting lost again." He stood upright once more and and followed her bee-line path through the scrub. Avery Calder Avery nearly fell over when Rex punched him in the shoulder, and he rubbed his sore arm. Well, what's another bruise anyway? He grinned a bit at Rex. "Um... it's okay, don't worry about it, heh heh." He tried not to roll his eyes. Some people just didn't know their own strength... and Avery was definately not the strong type. "Wait - what do you mean by 'girl in the lake'?" Avery supposed he shouldn't be surprised. Maybe someone was part fish or something. He shuddered a bit at the idea of being stuck in a lake, and he followed after Colche. Colche Colche looked at rex when he said her name was cute, she knew that word, lots of people said it to her "thanyou" she smiled brightly a slight giggle escaping her now. She liked the word cute it was very endering to the slender femme. A crack of lightning lit up the sky again and she paused, perhaps too quickly cause she bumped in to rex. Her ears tightened against her head as she looked up at the big guy, the scars down her chest visable in the bright, momentary light. She knew she shouldn't be frightebned of the lightning, it had been going for ages, but every time the sky flashed she felt scared it was coming after her. Perhaps in a way, the 'bright light' reminded her all too familiarily of her past though bumping in to the big guy didn't particularily make it any better, she was sheilded from the worst of the skies fireworks.
She said no more though she did stay still for a long moment, searching the skies to make sure the lightning wasn't coming back before she steppe away from rex. She looked at him, frightened, he wouldn't hurt her fotr that would he? they were so clsoe to Ambroses camp now, so very close. They wouldn't hurt her, Aubrey had said so. Rex Vadnais Yup, he knew it'd sound weird, "Oh, a girl named Awen, she's real nice a pretty helpful. But the poor girl seem pretty confided to the lake since she's turning into a manta ray." His heart sunk at the thought of being stuck there for however long you were going to be on the island. Forever? Maybe being a fish wouldn't be so great after all.
Rex looked to the sky as well when the lightning disturbed the dark skies, then Colche bumped into him, he looked down at her and grinned, slowly figuring that the friendliest approach possible was the best for this girl. "The lightning can be scary, huh? I used to be afraid of it, too." He reach his hand across her shoulders and and rubbed the fur, "it'll be okay though." He looked forward into the jungle and continued to move forward. Avery Calder Avery jumped a little too when he heard the thunder; not that he was afraid of it, but he was just taken by surprise. He would have told Colche that lightning strikes the tallest things around, but then he remembered; they were surrounded by trees... and he suddenly felt a little uneasy. "A manta ray girl, huh? That kinda sucks... I'd hate to be trapped in a lake forever," he said. Colche Colche nodded softly "scary" she moved a little doggedly away from his touch on ehr shoulder, but when she realised he wasn't grabbing her she gave a slight, throaty puurr before she walked on. Ambroses camp was nearlly in view now, the lean toos visable through the trees. Giving a soft sigh of releif she looked at the ttwo men "Ambrose" she stated decideingshe wouldn't go wandeirng in to the jungle alone again, certainly until seh knew these two men any way. She ahd to make double sure they were nice. Rex Vadnais "Yeah, I'd feel so... caged," Rex mumbled as he saw the rudimentary lean-to's through passing between the trees. "Well, what do we have here?" Finally, they'd made it to the camp. the thought of remote civiliation made him remember how cold and sick he was. he sniffed once more and sighed, "it looks like we finally made it," he yawned, feeling exhausted after hiking through the rain all day, "and not a minute too late." The thunder rumbled in the distance and he felt a slight breeze pick up, hopefully things wouldn't get worse.
Rex turned and looked at Avery, "Home-wet-home, eh?" while the rain sure was a downer, everything had a positive spin. Now where was Ambrose and everyone else? He'd said they had a pretty big camp. Avery Calder "Thank god," Avery sighed in relief. "I'm so tired. And wet." Avery quickly made his way to the nearest lean-to, crawling under it to get out of the rain. He was hungry, too, but he could wait it out for now. Getting out of the rain was more important right now. He scooted over to allow room for both Rex and Colche. He glanced around, hoping for a blanket of some sort, but even if he could find one it would probably be soaking wet by now, too. Colche Colche only paused for a moment, her inhabitions forgotten she dove head first in to the lean to, scrunching as close as possible to the trees the lean to was up against, she gave a soft, airy puurr. If she was to be attacked, it would have happened by now right? yes, and with ambrose near by she would be safe. She knew full well if she snuggled up between these two guys she would be warmer and drier than she was alone so she sighed lightly and closed those big blue eyes. A little stroll had certainly become an adventure. Already her fur and hair were starting to dry out as she sat snuggled in the lean to, happy, for now, feeling safe and protected even if it wasn't by the two guys she was going to be closest to for the night. Rex Vadnais Rex, too, scrambled into the small hut and flopped onto the floor with the others. Friends like these were the best to have to help you through hard times, and he was glad that they were here to help and comfort him. He snuggled in tight, trying to feel the body heat of his comrades. He recalled the night before and how nice it felt to have Antony curled against his body. The linked this to Julie, sleeping with himn under the sheets of their small bed in his old apartment. Julie.. These thoughts danced in his head while his eyelids drooped with sleep. Hopefully his cold wouldn't get any worse...

R o l e - P l a y _____________/ Welcome to the Wild: In which Avery meets the Emelyn, the hedgehog girl.
Emelyn The mosquito had been alive for 12 days, 3 hours, and 27 minutes. She had bitten, in her life, numerous wild boar, birds, and other assorted animals. Never before, however, had she smelled so sweet... so unique a fragrance as that of mixed-breed blood. Was it a hedgehog, or was it something more- something, larger, sweeter, more like a human? It was intoxicating, and she soared towards the smell, blinded by her insatiable desire. The landing was... soft, downy, though her tiny legs could hardly feel the difference. There was tawn-colored fur wherever she looked, and she extended her proboscis, slipping it down through the skin and latching onto the thin river of rich blood. With her first sip, she almost sighed. And then she was smacked. Emelyn hissed under her breath at the bloody remnant of the 12 day, 3 hours and 28 minute old mosquito on her stomach. She wondered if the blood would stain her fur, and she knelt back down to the river- where she'd been standing before 'the massacre', and rubbed that square down with water, until all that was left of the mosquito were a few crumbled legs... floating downstream. That was the ninth time that she'd gotten bitten by one insect or another. It was infuriating to her, and a part of her wished that she could rescind her offer of a shirt to Cassidy, and cover herself up again. She had been walking about in her white, lacy bra for days- weeks- and although she was now slightly covered in her furry down, it wasn't enough to hold the nature at bay. Avery Calder Avery tried and tried, but he found he just could not sleep. He was too hungry, and he wasn't drying fast enough for his liking. After much debating with himself, he decided to try and find food. He carefully climbed out of the lean-to, making sure not to disturb Rex and Colche, and back into the rain. He noticed someone crouching down by the river - someone he hasn't met before. Avery walked over to the figure slowly, not sure what would happen if he startled this person. "Um... hello," Avery said, peering at her. What kind of animal is she turning into..? "Who are you..?" Emelyn Em stood, startled by the sound of an unfamiliar voice, but somehow not scared- and she turned. The voice belonged to a man... a human, with long blonde hair and not an animal change to his name. Emelyn sighed, realizing she must be a sight, with her proto-quills at attention from being so summarily startled, tawny tan fur covering her body, which was covered only by jeans... and a white bra. She ran her fingers gingerly through the mess of quills atop her head. "Emelyn. ...I hope I didn't startle you," she said, her meaning lying in that although he had been the one to see her first... obviously, she wasn't quite 'the girl next door'. Avery Calder Avery couldn't help looking her up and down, noticing her fur and quills. "No, not really," he smiled a little at her. "I didn't mean to sneak up on you. My name is Avery... it's nice to meet you." He wanted to ask what kind of animal she was turning into, but he wasn't sure if that would be considered rude or not. Avery was soaking wet (obviously, since it was still raining), and he had cuts and bruises on his arms, stomach and face. He shivered a little from the cold. "Hey, um... do you know if there's any food around here?" Emelyn Emelyn shook her head. "I don't know, honestly." She came out from beneath the canopy of trees, into the clearing- and was amazed at how much rain could soak her in a matter of seconds. She'd soon go back into a lean-to- that was for certain. "I've been eating grubs and other things," she explained, almost apologetic. "...But it's nice to meet you too." She realized she'd forgotten about that particular pleasantry. Something about his.. not being upset by her animalistic form suggested to her that she wasn't the first he'd come across. "How long have you been on the island?" Em said, brushing the raindrops futilely out of her eyes. Avery Calder Avery raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Grubs? You mean like... bugs?" He shuddered at the thought. "Oh, I only washed up on shore yesterday... I, er, fell off a cruise liner," Avery said. "Someone tried to save me, but he ended up washing up on shore too, and now we're both stuck here." He looked a bit guilty, biting his lower lip. "So... er, how long have you been here? A few months, I imagine?" he guessed. All the others that have been transformed seemed to have been here for a while. Emelyn "I don't know how long it's been anymore..." Em said, noticing Avery's cuts and bruises for the first time, and wondering if he was alright, "but let's just say I was in the first 'wave'." ...She paused, and sighed, resolute not to ignore the 'elephant' of obviousness. "In case you were wondering..." she waved her hands over her face and body two-second strokes. "Hedgehog." She said quietly. Avery Calder "Oh, yeah... I was thinking, you know - porcupine," Avery said, blushing a little. "Er. Sorry. I... don't really know how to act about all of this. I don't mean to be rude." He cleared his throat, and tried to change the subject. "So, do you think the rain will let up anytime soon? It's been coming down pretty hard ever since it started... at this rate, everyone'll get sick from being stuck outside..." Do storms last longer on tropical islands..?Emelyn Em shook her head, and rain came flying off her quills in every direction. ...It didn't matter. It was still falling down all around her. She had since forgotten about the mosquito- that tiny bloodsucker that had flown down out of a tree, protected in the shade. But truly, if she had thought on it, she would have realized that killing it wasn't so terrible as if it had been a sunny day. The mosquito would have never survived this fierce cavalcade of rain anyway, were she to venture out from beneath the tree's canopy after her meal. "I... I don't know about the rain. A part of me thinks it won't ever stop. ...But that's probably just my emotional part," she said, only half-joking. "And it's alright. You're not being rude. If anything, you're taking everything... very well." She wondered if he'd been explained what was going on. "Who else have you met?" She asked curiously. Avery Calder Avery laughed a little. "Well, I didn't take it very well at first... and truthfully I still feel nervous around... changed people," he said, trying to think of a way to describe them without offending her. "I've met... uh... there was a girl with some scales, I can't remember her name. And Ambrose, the wolf man... then Colche and Ian too... and Timothy, I stayed with him for a while in his burrow. But I was worried about Rex - he is the guy who tried to rescue me - so I left the burrow to try and find him, and ended up here with Colche's help. Tim said he was going to find food and meet up later." He gently rubbed the back of his neck, not wanting to irritate the wound there. "And don't worry, it feels like the rain is never going to end to me, too - so it's not just you. It's got to end eventually, though - right?" Avery smiled at her. Emelyn A smile can tell a lot about how a person is feeling inside, whether it's a wide-open crescent moon of white that speaks to pure joy... or the half-hearted, sad tug at the corners of Em's mouth that explained how little faith she really had in anything turning out right. "Expect the unexpected here." She said softly. Avery Calder "Yeah... I'm kind of gathering that much," Avery murmured. "It's like some sort of... nightmare." He told himself he wouldn't get emotional again. He hasn't counted how many times he broke down and cried so far, but he knew it was more than twice, at least. Crying won't get him off this island, after all. "Well, what do you say we get out of this rain, then?" Emelyn Em nodded, and darted for her lean-to. She didn't know if Avery was following her, or if he'd return back to the one he'd been sharing with... one of the cavalcade of people he seemed to have already met. Avery Calder Avery thought about following her, but he decided to go back into the lean-to he was sharing with Rex and Colche instead. He crawled back in carefully, settling down back by Colche's side again and snuggling up to get warm. Finally, he closed his eyes and was able to fall asleep this time.

R o l e - P l a y _____________/ Welcome to the Wild: In which a transformation is observed for the first time.
Colche Colche awoke very slowly. An uncomfortable itching was spreading accross her legs , reaching her claws sown she raked at the uncomfortabl;e heat thatw as spreading fronm her back in a line down her legs. "Mmmunuh" she mumbled, still sleepy, the heat inside the little lean to made her smile a little, the two guys, one on either side of her, had kept her warm and dry through the damp night "nyah" she muttered, her brow creasing as at last, her eyes decided they had to be open. "hnn" she itched irritably at her calves twitching this way and that, bumping in tot he two men, certainly waking them for she moved so irratically.
Sleepy blue eyes were soon wider than a pair of dish plates though and she cried out, her voice not human, it was the sound of an injured animal, the call of a big cat in dire pain. Her legs, her calves and toes were starting, ever so slowly to elongate as the hot, burning itching continued to run down her arms and legs. "owah!" she called looking around herself frantically, where was Aubrey? Was she back in the dark place again? No, she was on the island but Aubrey wasn't there "Aubrey!" she cried, large, wet tears rolling down her cheeks as she thrashed about inside the tiny lean to, her new changes slowly taking place. "Aweh!" Avery Calder Avery did not wake immediately. In fact, he tried to stay asleep as long as possible, dreaming of being at home, in his warm and dry bed. But the constant shifting and twitching from Colche didn't let him stay asleep for long; he woke slowly, yawing. At Colche's first cry, his eyes flew open and he jerked his body away from her in surprise, staring at her in shock. "What the--" the words died on his lips when he saw what was happening to the girl. Avery watched, horrified, as her body began changing. What the ******** is going on!? What the hell is happening to her!? Avery was too shocked and afraid to help her, and he stayed as far away as he could get from her inside the lean-to. He knew he should try and do something to help, but he just couldn't make his body move. Colche Tears continued to run down her cheeks as she finally felt a movement beside ehr and huge, innocent, frightened blue eyes looked at Avery, her body was tence, her mucles taught, the sinew in ehr legs looking like it would snap at any second. She croed out again, rolling to her knees, her hair dangling down in long, ropey lines, hiding the expression upon her face. "argnayw!" The sound was a cross between a yowl and a human ouch, her fingers raked and dug deeply in to the soil beneath the lean to, her back arching painfully as something tugged at her back end.
Looking at Avery in an obstenate fashion she realised it wasn't him pulling, any dreams of the beach and running with the wind had been dashed from her mind as her tail started to slowly, surely, elongate. She caleld out and cried softly, whispering for Aubrey every so often in a tight, strangled, childish cry of a voice "uhmmuweh" she sniffled, the lightning sharp pains which ran up and down her spine making her moan until her throat was dry and sore.
At last it seemed her tail had grown to it's expance, touching the ground though it lay still, it burnt painfully, the newly formed bones soft and sore. Managing to stay kneeling was becoming a chore, her body trembled,s he was frightened, sore, exhausted but it wasn't over quite yet, her face started to ich, to grow that short, kitty muzzle, the fur stretching accross ehr face coveruing her cheeks and forehead, her ears shifting slightly moving towards the top of her head, the fur sprouting in thick plumes there. Finally, she piked up the scent of the people around her. The brawn, burly scent of rex, the sweet, slightly femenine scent of avery, the breath of wet bodies and wet fur, tangled against each other, the thick, heady scent of sweat filling the air surrounded by the mysty air of warmish, dampness upon the islands rich jungly soils.
Her tongue lolled from ehr moth as she panted, her eyes turned on the ground, her limbs dithering begging for heer to lay down once again but her body burned, she hurt all over, her mucles and bones felt like somone was pricking them with thousands of tiny needles. "uhmm" she managed to mumble, tears rolling tot he ground in large dropletts "Aubrey" she whispered just managing to hold herself up a little trembling heap inside the lean to "Aubrey.." Avery Calder Oh God, oh my God - she's changing, this is what they go through when they transform - how could someone do something so horrible to these people!? Thoughts raced through Avery's head as he sat, frozen in place from fear. He watched the woman crying in front of him, fur growing over more of her body, tail growing longer and even her claws appeared sharper, more threatening - at least to him. He could only just see her face through her long hair, the muzzle growing and nose changing. What should I do!? Avery thought, panicked. Who can help her? Could anyone help her? When Colche's transformation appeared to slow down, Avery slowly moved a little closer to the girl, reaching out a trembling hand and placing it on her furry shoulder. "Are you--" Avery's sentence broke off, and he swallowed thickly, trying to speak, his voice shaky. "Are you alright..?" he whispered, realizing what a stupid question that was only after he asked it. Of course she isn't alright... Colche Colche's breath came thick and heavy for a long, quiet time, her eyes bulging her chest obviously heaving. The touch on her shoulderthough braught her back to reality and though her eyes still streamed with tears she just, saw the person before her and colapsed in to their lap. Avery now, wheather he liked it or not, had a rather frightened cheetah girl flumped in his lap. She was awake, and gibbering, shivering helplessly like a child lost in the storm that still raged outside.
"where Aubrey? Where Aubrey?" she dithered hiding her little black nose in Averys lap. She was hot, and damp, weat permiated upon what little skin she now had left. "owowowowow" her voice came, muffled by Averys clothes. Of course, she hadn't heard a word Avery sad to her, she was lost and running a feaver, a combination of her time out in the rain and the transformation had made her very hot, her whole body burned and ached. She just wanted somone to tell her it was okay, to sleep a bit and just for Aubrey to be there, she was always there, when it happened. Avery Calder "Wha--" Avery was surprised when Colche collapsed into his lap, and at first he had no idea what to do. He reached down, very gently rubbing her back, not wanting to hurt the girl. "I... I have no idea who Aubrey is," he said, trying to stay calm. "But - it'll be okay, right? I mean - it looks like you've gone through this before... and you turned out alright, so..." he trailed off, and used his other hand to slide his fingers through her hair so it wasn't in her face and spread out all over the place. "Hey... it'll - it'll be okay," Avery told her, not sure if he really believed what he was saying. "It's all over now, right? It's okay..." Avery carefully moved out from under her, stretching his legs out to lay down beside her instead. He pulled the cheetah-girl into his arms, holding her close to his body and rubbing her furry back, trying to calm her down. "It's okay now," he murmured again. Colche Colche was silent while Avery spoke to her, his words were soothing to her furry ears even though se couldn't really understand what he was saying. She was so lost int he aching pain of herbody that she barely even noticed him getting out from under her, she only noticed when he pulled ehr in to his arms and she sobbed quietly, frightened and sore though the gentle fingers down her back left her feeling rather calmer than she had. "Want Aubrey" she whispered, through gentle sniffles her slender frame snuggling in close to the blond male, burying her face in his chest, her nose was a little sore but she could smell Avery so much more clearly now, he smelt of the jungle, of blood and the sweat of himself and others whom he had interacted with. She could even, faintly, smell herself. At last, she managed to quell her trembling ad her lengthier fith appendage gave it's first slow flicker which made ehr gringe. She remembered it was sore for many days after her first little stub, it was long now, how long would she be in pain for this time?
"Kay" she mumbled, snuggling tightly in to Avery "thank..yoo" she managed at last, a real word, besides Aubrey, amongst all the little murmurs of pain and quiet sobbing. "nice" the greatest of endeerments for colche were being layed upon Avery "Avery nice." Avery Calder Avery couldn't help but smile - she was so cute, despite the sharp teeth and claws. "You're welcome," he said, softly. "I think you're very nice, too." The way she spoke sounded very child like, yet she didn't look at all like a child. He wondered why she spoke that way; maybe she just never learned until she arrived on this island? It seemed to him that she didn't really understand him most of the time, or maybe she just wasn't listening when he spoke. He wanted to ask her why, but he thought asking 'why do you talk weird' would be rude - especially right now, after what she just had to go though. Avery continued rubbing her back gently, fingers sliding through her fur, trying to keep her calm. "So, who is Aubrey..?" Colche She'd never been asked that before. She partially understood it but it would mean explaining a few things "Aubrey, Colche, Saved" her voice was still very jittery, she was exhausted but she was so, sore all over, she didn't think she could sleep. For a moment she puurred, though it was interrupted by a little cough which was still a very human thing to do though it was closely followed by a kitty sneeze "owah" she mumbled, sneezing had jolted her body and spine, her tail seemed to agree with her unhappiness and made an attempt at a lash which was quickly subdued by another cry of pain "owowowow" she held tightly to Avery when these pains happened though, miraculously, she managed to keep her claws from cutting him. Avery Calder "Saved you? How did she save you..?" Avery asked, confused. He didn't think being brought to an island and transformed into an animal counted as ' saving' someone... what could be worse than that? He looked down at her when she sneezed, a worried look on his face when she cried out from the pain. "Bless you," he said. "You okay?" Avery didn't even think about her claws anymore, too concerned for her well-being to worry about them. He didn't think that she would hurt him. Colche Colche snuffled a few times and nods a little, dejected nod, hoping for no more sneezing, it huirttoo much. Taking a deep breath she looked to Avery, her huge deep blue eues staring at the guy before she spoke and lifted her left wrist to show him. The callus, though it had become alot smaller int he months of happy living on the island was still visable though it was obvious her fur would eventually engulf it and there would be no sign of her abuse. "Colche lived in dark, cold, scary place. Bad, bad men, scary bad men, make, not good scary. " Her brow furrowed a little, would he even understand that? she should reiterate maybe "Hurt much, all the time, hungry forever, til island. island home, happy, Colche Family island" she smiled weakly. despite the pain she was in,s eh kenw it wouldn't last forever then she could go back to beign a free spirit again. The isand was a much better place than the darkness and the men which came witht he bright light. Avery Calder Oh... well, maybe there were worse things than turning into an animal. Avery thought he understood what Colche was trying to tell him. Well, that would explain why she seemed nervous around Rex and I before... Avery thought. He smiled at her. "Then it's a good thing you're here now, huh? It doesn't seem like there are any bad men here. Do you know where Aubrey went?" Colche Colche frowned slightly, no she didn't know exactly, Aubrey had just told her that she was going away for a little while "Noas.." she pouted softly her big deep blue eyes lifting to look at Avery as she bit her bottom lip though she stopped doing this pretty quickly "ow" she frowned, ehr fangs had become very sharp, she was going to have to stop biting her lip when she was nervey. "Island Colche home" she whispers snzzling in to the guy once again, though she needed his chest a little like a big jkitty and the soft, airry puurr started rattling from her chest "Went with Moreau..no know where" after a moment more of snuggling her face in to his chest she looked up at Avery "nice men, island not hurt Colche, make happy..most time" she was of course exclueding the current situation, changing, being locked out of her plex. She wanted to go to the canteen and eat chocolate cake and cuddle up inside her plex but she couldn't. If aubrey was here, she would make it better, she always did. Avery Calder For all Avery knew, Aubrey and Moreau were just other people on the island that were being turned into animals as well. He wondered what kind of animals they were. "Well, I'm sure Aubrey and Moreau will be back sometime, and you'll get to see her soon," he said, smiling at Colche. "It's not like they can leave the island, right? So they have to be somewhere." When Colche snuggled up against him again and he heard her purring, he just couldn't help himself. "You're so cute!" Avery grinned, and he held her close, cuddling. The feline really was adorable. Colche Colche giggled softly as he called her cute, she really liked the word, it always made her smile and she did so now. It was a strange thing to see something with permanent tears smile perhaps but for a moment she looked happy until she remembered the pains in her spine. The pain usually left fairly swiftly, it was the change that hurt though she itched for days and her tail bone ached painfully for a long time. "Avery pretty" she stated with a little kittyish grin once again. One of the few words she loved to use for people she liked. Handsome simply wasn't in her vocabulary "Thankyous" she puurred once again, ehr large blue eyes resting in a slightly admireing manner upon the blond haired guy. Noone but Aubrey had ever comforted her after a change, it was nice, nice to know that someone she hardly even knew was willing to look after her. Avery Calder Avery was used to more people calling him pretty than handsome anyway, so it didn't bother him at all. "Thank you, too!" he smiled at her again. It was true they hardly knew each other at all, but Avery couldn't just sit by and do nothing when it had been obvious how much pain the girl was in. Running away and letting her go though the change alone would have been cruel, even though Avery had no idea what to expect after the fact. Thankfully, it seemed she didn't have the instincts to hunt and kill prey; otherwise, he would have been in big trouble for sticking around. Colche Colche gave a long, soft releife filled sigh as she snuggled closer in to Avery. It wasn't long before ehr breathing became soft, rythmical, she had obviously dozed off in his arms, exhausted from her change. What would happen after this change only time would tell. She had already had the longing wish to be alone, the lone cheetah, but the human part of ehr still wished and begged to be loved and cared for. She was dependant upon people and probably always would be. For now though, sleep and the chance to dream her childish dreams. She twitched a bit in her sleep, dark night mares creeping in to interrupt ehr happy reverie. They would pass and she would sleep on, too tired to be awake, too tired to be afraid.

On Duplex 32's door it says "Avery Calder" in a small posted sign. It looks just about hand written. The room is fully furnished for you when you arrive.

R o l e - P l a y _____________/ Welcome to the Wild: In which power is restored, and Avery meets two more islanders.
Awen Zyn The last thing Awen remembered was passing out beside Lauren and her hollow tree shelter. She had been muling over relationships she knew on the island while being cold and pelted with little bits of rain. She was away from the warmth that a companion would have had, even if it was just to share body heat and be away fro mthe rain for awhile.
When she awoke however Awen was completely submerged in hte middle of the lake. She jerked awake, her eyes wide her heart pounding. She was underwate, she couldn't breath. She tensed and trashed in a weak attempt to swim to the surface. She would die if she stayed down there, flashes of her dreams the faces of her dead parent rotting and decomposing in the water ran through her mind.
She felt faint. She started to feel dizzy, as though she would pass out. Then all of a sudden she took in a deep breath, but not through her eyes or mouth. It was her gills. For a moment she was confused.... and then she remembered she could breathe.
She wondered how she got to the lake anyway... She slowly swam towards the shore. Avery Calder Avery slowly woke up as the rain began to stop; he had been asleep in the lean-to with Colche for a while, and he was starting to feel very cramped... and very hungry. When did he last eat something? All I've eaten was that bit of jerky Timothy gave me in the burrow... I wonder where he is? He hasn't shown up at the camp yet, Avery wondered, feeling worried for his safety. He hoped Timothy was alright. Avery crawled out of the lean-to and stretched, before glancing around the camp. Maybe I should try and find him. Not sure which direction he should go, Avery picked a random place to start and just began walking. There seemed to always be someone that he would run into on this island, so he wasn't too worried about getting lost... again. He made his way through the forest slowly, until he stumbled out of some bushes to find... a lake? Well, that was the last thing he needed - more water. Avery was already still soaked from the rain. But maybe he could try to catch a fish. He did see movement in the water, after all... and he approached the lake, only to find what was swimming in there wasn't quite a fish at all. Awen Zyn It was something about her luck but Awen always seemed to surface at inopportune moments around islanders. Of course, in most cases this means she surfaces when they're taking a bath, but being around Aery in general at the moment probably wasn't the best of luck for either of them. She caught a sliver of light coloured hair from under the surface, but from under the water and because of the darkness she couldn't be sure who it was exactly. The colour and form distorted Awen smiled, it had to be Chubbs! She hadn't seen the poor boy in forever.
She surfaced with a big smile, but even with her vision temporarily blurred she could tell, this thin form wasn't her dear friend Chubbs. "Er....hey there!" Avery Calder Avery jumped and nearly fell over as he stepped back when the girl in the lake surfaced. He couldn't help but stare at here, even if it was rude of him. "Uh... h-hi," Avery stuttered. Really, why am I even shocked anymore, after seeing everything I have..? He shook his head a bit, trying to clear his thoughts, and he looked at the girl again. "Hello," he said, properly introducing himself this time. "I'm Avery... what's your name?" Awen Zyn Awen noted the stares he was giving her. She saw the surprise and even the hint of fear in his eyes, thoguh it was hard to see much she could see much more white around the iris than she would normally, so she figured. She tried to think if anyone had ever mentioned an Avery. Of course not, the way he was stumbling over his words.... It was obvious.
She laughed a little bit. "I'm Awen, sorry to scare you... You're with Rex right?" Avery Calder Rex... this must be the lady in the lake he had told me about, Avery thought. He relaxed a little, and smiled at her. "Nah, it's okay... I was just a little startled," he said. "And yeah, Rex and I both washed up on this island together... he told me that he ran into you, I think. He said he saw--" Avery trailed off when he noticed the town lights not far on the opposite side of the lake flicker a few times as the power was restored, and then stayed on, shining brightly. Didn't someone say there was no electricity..? "Hey... those light just came on, over in those buildings... I thought there was no power here..?" Awen Zyn "Oh my god!" Awen turn in the water and saw the light's final flicker and then stay on. They're back. Someone was in the village! Moreau? Or had an islander found a way to get inside the main building. She practically leapt from the water....which meant of course her flipper stubed on the shallow shore and she fell to the ground. "There isn't supposed to be." Her eyes were bright and shining.
Grabbing Avery's wrist she hauled him towards the building. "C'mon we gotta see what's happening here. I can grab chocolate bars and Skittles in my room too!" She added as more incentive, incase the guy was hungry. She almost drooled at the thought of skittles after so long. And Soul Calibur 3! She hadn't barely even started the file before all this crap happened!
She raced as quickly as she could with flippers, and dragging of Avery. The comm system. She could page the main building! Yes! First stop, Awen's room. Avery Calder He was surprised when Awen leaped out of the water and grabbed his wrist. What choice did he have but to follow her? Especially when she mentioned they would be getting food - well, it was candy, but that was definitely good enough for Avery. "Well, food sounds good to me!" He hurried as fast as he could to keep up with her as they ran to the buildings. Avery had no idea where exactly she was leading him, but if there was food to be found, he was not about to argue. Awen Zyn When they got to her duplex Awen skidded to a halt. "Number Twenty One, please don't be locked. C'mon, c'mon, c'mon..." She let go of the cross dresser's wrist and grabbed the door handle. A second's hesitation, a moment of silent prayer and.... The knob turned and she pushed her door open.
Awen stood in shock as the village light flooded into her dark room. It had been....months... She had half expected it to have been stuck shut still. But it had opened. Thank god it had opened!
She stepped forward slowly and clicked on the light. She blinked away the brightness and stared around her room. It smelt a little musty but it was home. That was her scrap book on the desk, her PS2 and TV, her parent's picture on the nightstand.
Awen couldn't help it. She was so overwhelmed tears started to roll down her cheeks. She turned around to Avery and smiled, though she was still crying. "Welcome to the Island man.... how the island is supposed to be."
She moved to one of her dressers and grabbed the stash of candy she kept in case of emergency midnight snack craving. She tossed a bag and skittles to the blond and grabbed a coffee crisp for herself. Tearing off the wrapper she took a large chomp. Joliette Rigiel Joliette trudges slowly into the village, light had just illuminated the night and that alone caused her to blink, she had gotten used to no artificial lights... Her yellow tongue flickers and she moved through the village , and then she notices it... an open door... Trudging towards 21 she quietly calls out "Hello?" Avery Calder Avery hadn't been stuck out in the wilderness as long as Awen had been, but he was still just as relieved to see the door open. Ever since he arrived, he has seen nothing but strange things, being forced to live out in the forest; no beds or anything... and it was truely a relief for him to see regular household items and electricity. Avery didn't even pause to think about what it might mean, that the doctors might be back and now was the time for him to try and escape. He caught the bag of skittles Awen tossed to him. "Thanks," he said, smiling at her and ripping open the package, quickly shaking some of the candy out into his hand to eat. He was starving. He paused when he heard someone call out behind him, and he turned around to peer outside, seeing a woman who looked... mostly human, with brown hair. Avery stepped outside of the duplex and smiled at the other girl. "Hey there!" Awen Zyn Awen grinned when she heard the voice but was already making her way to the intercom. "Hey Joli come on in! We've got candy!" She laughed and just was so happy to be back. Finally people could return to normal and put all of this survivor stuff left behind them. She still wondered though what made the electricity turn back on. Had someone gotten into the main compound? Were the doctors back?
She glanced a nervous eye at Avery. If the doctors were back that means him and Rex... But she sighed. Back to life as normal on the island. She couldn't let that dampen her spirits. She had chocolate!
"And hey a shower and PS2 and look heaters! God this is so....god!" She chuckled and pushed the intercom button. "Hello! Anyone in there?" She was just bursting with possitive energy now. "The power is back, like you don't already know! Whose in there then? Moreau? Chubbs hun did you break in?" Joliette Rigiel Joliette peers through the illumination at the male, her long yellow tongue flicked the air as she brought his scent to her "I've not met you... " she muses quietly and moves closer looking up at him, he stood a good foot taller then her, but that was nothing new, she was certain she was the shortest person on the isle. She peers around him looking at Awen "Your door was the only one I saw open... but I've picked up the scents of hte cafeteria" she says Avery Calder Thankfully, the scales on the other woman prepared him enough not to be too surprised when she flicked out her yellow tongue. "Yeah, I guess I'm kind of new on the island," Avery grinned a little at her. "I got washed up on shore... been here for a few days. My name is Avery... want some Skittles?" he offered, holding the bag out to Joliette. Awen Zyn Awen frowned when there was no responce to her call. Maybe it was just Chubbs, or another islander stumbling around trying to find everything. Maybe they hadn't heard, or didn't know how to respond to the intercom yet. Awen imagines this huge counsle with lots of flashing lights and buttons and a big screen, with Chubbs standing slack jaw looking up at the screen, hearing Awen but too confused by the mass of button to know where to start.
But wait a second.
Joliette said there was food in the cafeteria. Awen sniffed the air but she couldn't catch much. Her sense of smell had been dulle in the last change and all she could smell currently was the chocolate bar and the musty smell...and body odor, but who was counting anymore? No. If the cafe was up then there had to be staff.
She buzzed again.
"Hello? Moreau? Sabin? Err..Au-Audrey?" She had never formally met the woman so didn't quite remember her name.
She krept pressing the button again and again. "Helllooooo?"
Frowning when still there was no responce she turned back to the others. "Okay this is kind of creepy. Like...horror movie creepy." Not accounting for the fact that there were part human part creature people walking around the island and she was a mutant fish thing, of course. Joliette Rigiel Her forked tongue flicked once more as she looked at hte bag "All right, thanks" she says reaching and sticking her sharpclawed fingers into the bag pulling some out onto her hand "I'm Joliette" she replied quietly, saying her distinctly french name in her thick British accent. She gave a weak smile. "Awen, I don't think they are answering, it's still pretty quiet dispite the power on" Avery Calder Avery watched as Awen tried using the intercom, receiving no answer from whoever those people were she was trying to contact. "So... what... the lights and stuff just came back on by themselves?" Avery wondered; should he be surprised or not? Here he was, sharing candy with two women who were part animal... would weird things like power coming back on by itself really be that strange in comparison? "Well... maybe they just stepped out to get some food, too?" he suggested. The last thing he wanted to think about was horror movies on an island like this. Awen Zyn Awen frowned a little bit and shook her head. "I've never seen staff...besides the cafeteria lady... in the cafe before. And sure maybe the lights came back on by themselves. But food starting to cook by itself? I don't know...."
She grabbed another chunk from her chocolate bar and threw the wrapper in the garbage. She moved slowly to the door and looked out. "Well whatever... we can figure it out later.... For now I've got a comfy bed with my name on it."
She glanced between the two slowly. "I mean yay the powers back and all but comfy sheets is the best thing after all this. Besides I don't want to deal with this....horror movie right now. Course..." She laughed. "If this were a horror movie I'd probably be the first one to be bumped off." She grinned a bit then just melted it to a smile. "You guys can join me if you want? Er... in hte sleep thing not the ..dying..thing."
She blushed a little bit. "Just cuz er....Avery you don't have a bed...and Joli if you don't want to be alone..." Joliette Rigiel Joli shook her head "No, I want food, and my darkroom... thanks for the offer though" she looks at Avery "I'll show you where it is if you want" her voice was still quiet "candy is nice... but I need real food" Avery Calder Avery felt torn... real food, or sleep? He wanted both, badly... as well as a shower. "It's a touch choice... I think I'm going to go with sleep though, I'm pretty tired..." He had only just woke up not long ago, but he actually hadn't been sleeping for that long. Having to watch Colche's transformation was very stressful and nerve wracking. He hoped he wouldn't have to watch anyone else transform, either. "Thank you for the offer, though, Joliette," he smiled at her. Awen Zyn Awen nodded to Joli then again to Avery. "Alright then. I guess I'll see you tomorrow Joli? We can hook up and go tell the others, if they hadn't come back by then. And hey! Pancakes tomorrow! If they don't make 'em I will!" She grinned a little bit. "Sound good to you two?" Joliette Rigiel Joliette nods to both "All right... Uhm you'll probably find me int he darkroom.... it's the darkest duplex here" she motioned #28 down the way and stepped away from the door "Sleep well guys" the komodo woman says with one last flick of her tongue before turning and trudging away heading towards the boarded up duplex Avery Calder "God, pancakes sounds like heaven," Avery sighed happily just thinking about it. He waved goodbye to Joliette when she left, and then he turned to look at Awen. "Thanks for letting me stay here tonight, I appreciate it..." he glanced around the room, wondering where he would sleep. "Do you want me to sleep on the floor, or share the bed?" Avery smiled. "I don't mind either way... it's just nice to not be outside for once." Awen Zyn She shut the door slowly and grinned hearing Avery's exclaimation about pancakes. One of her absolute specialties were pancakes. She started for the bed before realising she could finally change into something other than self made jean shorts and a dirty old top. She smiled and walked over to her dresser as Avery asked the question.
She waved her hand dismissively. "No no, you can stay in the bed. It's a lot nicer, warmer. And um...besides.... Rex er..thought..." She glanced over her shoulder. "Aren't you....?" She shook her head and grabbed some pyjamas from her drawer. "Well it doesn't matter anyway. Um if you want to change into something dry.... I mean this might sound weird, but you can borrow some of my PJs? They probably won't fit perfect but er.... better than soppy wet stuff." Avery Calder Avery blinked, confused for a moment. "Rex thought what... oh!" he laughed a bit. "Yeah, kind of, I guess. I mean, I suppose you could say he's half right?" He shrugged. Was Rex going around telling everyone he was gay..?"Thanks, I'd love to borrow something dry." He bent down, pulling off his shoes and placing them over by the door, so as not to track dirt futher into the room. He walked over to Awen and peered into her drawer. "I'll wear whatever you can spare, I don't mind what it is." Awen Zyn When Avery offered to wear whatever a few rather humourous things came to mind as she shuffled through her clothes. But she would never go through with that and just rummaged with a smirk on her face. "Ah..." She found her pair of relatively unisex pyjamas. A navy blue long sleeve top and with a pair of blue striped pants. "I hope these are alright?" She asked offering them to the man. She gestured over to the other door. "Bathrooms in there if you like."
But Rex? He's half right? Well well well.... Awen was just finding so many open people these days wasn't she! Having already thought of Avery in some...interesting situation Awen suddenly got a flash of Rex in a similar fashion. The weirdest part was, it wasn't just something funny to appease her sense of humour. Somewhere deep down the manta grinned a little bit. It had not yet had the opportunity to deal with these sorts of things just yet. But now that it was in her head the manta made sure it stayed for awhile. The two newcomers and a 50% changeling? That would be....sweet.
A crimson tone came up to Awen's dull cheeks as she looked up at the blond, a little dazed look in her eye. What was she thinking!? She grabbed a pair of pink cow pyjamas and skooted away. "Um I'm gonna change too so..if you don't mind..." She gestured for the bathroom again. Avery Calder "Yeah, those are perfect," Avery said, taking the pajamas gratefully. "I'll go change in the bathroom then," he smiled. "You just let me know when you're decent, and I'll come back out," Avery winked at her and walked into the bathroom. He shut the door and quickly stripped out of his soaked clothes (including his boxers), laying them out over the side of the bathtub so they could dry out. Avery pulled on the borrowed pajamas. They were a little small, but it wasn't too bad. While he waited for Awen to change too, he decided to look in the mirror... Oh my god, I look terrible, Avery thought. He ran his fingers through his hair, trying to get tangles out and straighten his hair out a bit, then he turned on the sink and washed his face off. Well, at least that's a little better...Awen Zyn Awen blushed even more. A wink? Did he wink?? Oh by creation that wasn't helping her any. Once he shut the door she took a big breath. What were you doing Awen Sira Syn? What kind of girl are you anyway! You cannot very well have a grudge on Antony if you're going to be going arond like this! Well... Not that... you have a grudge on Antony anymore. That was being settled.
She sighed softly and just changed quickly. She put her wet, and rather ruined, clothes on the back of her chair. She doubted she would ever wear them again...but...it was a good enough place for now. She hear Avery was busy with water and stuff and figured he was cleaning up a little so too kthe time to get reaquainted with her room. "I'm good now Avery any time!"
When finally she got to her bed she sat on the side with the picture of her parents. She picked it up slowly and felt almost like the tears would return. It was a bright sunny day with the two of them posing before their boat. The boat they died in. She ran a thumb across teh glass surface of the frame. It had been so long. She often felt ashame of her fear of water when she looked at that picture, remembering how much her parents loved it. But without that fear to occupy Awen realised she felt quite empty. She didn't realise before just how much her parents death meant. She missed them, and thought life would be better with them of course. But she never thought of feeling so.....alone. Empty... Avery Calder With once last glance in the mirror, Avery opened the door and stepped back out into the room. "I feel better already... but I could definately use a shower tomorrow," he said, grinning... and then he noticed Awen sitting on her bed, looking at a photograph, and Avery's grin faded. He walked over to the bed and sat down beside her, leaning over to look at the photo she was holding in her hands. "Ah.. are they your parents?" Avery asked. He missed his parents too... he wondered what they were doing now. Were they trying to find him..? Awen Zyn Awen glanced over her shoulder, she had been lost in her own little world and forgotten about Avery for a second there. "Oh, um...yeah." She set the picture back down on her nightstand.
She smiled a little bit and attempted to change the subject, thoguh her tone remained semi-flat. "Oh hey, see now your hair looks much better. I have a brush on my desk..."
Brush. Yeah right. There was no way Awen was going to unknot her tangle mess anymore. Not that she was thinking much about that at the moment. Avery Calder "Huh? Oh, thanks," Avery said. He stood back up and went over to the desk and used Awen's brush to brush out his hair. He didn't spend a long time on it, figuring he could just really brush it out after a shower tomorrow. He really just wanted to get some sleep. When he was satisfied that he got rid of most of the tangles and he looked semi-decent, he put the brush back down and went back over to the bed, plopping down on it. "Thanks again for sharing your bed," Avery smiled, and he scooted back on the bed, laying down on the far side to give Awen room to lay down as well. He obviously had no problem with sharing beds with people. Awen Zyn "Hey no problem. Me beda et su beda." She...totally ruined that phrase but it was a joke damnit. Awen smiled a little bit and slid under the covers getting comfortable. Her large feet felt awkward under the coered and everything seemed a bit itch and dry. Definately not the sleeping conditions she had gotten used to since the change. But this was good, this was normal. It had looked so comfortable before, but now that she was in the confines of the sheets and comforter Awen wasn't so certain.
Soon enough though she had fallen sleep.
It wasn't a good night for the manta ray. It was too hot, too dry. Just after dawn Awen woke up, little flakes of her skin littering the bed. She rolled out of bed itching, scratching. She cleared her throat and even coughed a little bit. She stumbled over to the bathroom and with her pyjamas and everything stumbled into the shower. She cranked the water on and sighed softly feeling the nice water wetting her rubbery skin. She stepped on the plug stopper and let the tub slowly start to fill with the cleansing, cooling, calming water. She sat down slowly, litting the water wash over her. Surprisingly just being stuck jamed into the tub was more comfortable than being curled up in the unbreathing sheets of hte bed with Avery. Avery Calder Avery smiled at her and settled down, closing his eyes. He was relieved to finally be in a warm, dry bed; it did not take long for him to fall asleep. It was the first time since he arrived on the island that he has been able to lay down in a real bed. He slept well, and he dreamed of taking a nice hot shower, and eating real food.

R o l e - P l a y _____________/ In which Avery showers and contemplates.
Avery walked along the duplexes, glancing at each of the names as he passed them, until... Avery Calder. Duplex 32. So, they weren't lying... Avery pushed open the door to his duplex and stepped inside, flicking on the lights. He closed the door behind him as he looked around the room. It was very... plain, but better than nothing. First thing is first - Avery walked over to the bathroom, desperately wanting a shower. He pulled off the pyjama top he was wearing, folding it up and setting it aside. He reached into the shower and turned on the hot water, holding his hand under the spray until he felt the water warm up. Oh, God, that feels so good... he sighed appreciatively. He turned on the cold water as well, so he wouldn't burn himself, before he stripped out of the rest of his clothes and getting into the shower. Avery relaxed, letting the water run over his body. So... I am stuck here... and possibly injected as well. Injected. There was possibly something foreign in his body, and Avery had no idea what it would do to him. I am going to sue for so much money that I'll never have to work again, Avery thought angrily. Maybe... maybe Rex was wrong. He did say he wanted to talk about it later... so maybe there was a chance everything was fine...Avery decided to forget about that for now. He washed his hair and enjoyed the warm water for a while, then turned off the water and got out of the shower. He grabbed a towel, drying himself off, and then pulling on the pyjama pants he borrowed from Awen. He decided to forgo the shirt for now, and he went back out to the main room and over to the bed. Pulling back the blankets, Avery climbed into the bed, setting down for a nice, long nap.
