The more Static talked the more difficult it was for Shani to control herself. By the end of his inspection, and at the request for her to open her mouth, she was at her limit. She had to curl up into a tight ball, her body shaking, and cling with every ounce of her willpower to her resolution not to laugh.
((*trying hard not to cackle*))

Oh, no. Shani was shaking and in the fetal position. This was not good! Static checked her for signs of a fever again, but she didn't feel hot. What if her kind's body temperature ran a little cooler? Static cursed himself fot not thinking of that sooner. "Shani, I think you have a fever, I'm going to go search the forest for a few herbs, it shouldn't take long. Stay here and try to keep yourself warm."
Static dashed off into the forest at top speed, making a list of all the things he would need for medicine. He hurridly searched for the nessisary ingredients, but it was hard with so much winter decay.
((Static you are such a fail! I think Shani could use this time to "cure herself" XP))

Shani waited until the sound of Static's footfalls had faded into the distance, then let out the roar of laughter she'd been holding in. She tried to get as much of it out as thoroughly as possible, rolling on the ground and laughing until she cried and her stomach started to hurt. Really, that had been one of the funniest things she'd gone through in quite some time.
The intense session of laughter had tired the vixen out. Without meaning to, still half-curled up on the ground chuckling, Shani fell into a light sleep.
((lol My brain went through a dozen fun ways Static could respond to coming back and finding Shani napping.))

Static returned a short while later carrying sever different herbs in his mouth. Welll, maybe 'returned' was an understatement, a more suited word would be 'sprinted'. Shani was lying down, which was good, she needed to conserve her strength. As he got closer he realised her closed eyes and blank expression. Static went into panic mode. She'd fainted! It was likely if her fever was sever enough.
Quickly crushing up the herbs and adding water, Static made a paste. He grimaced at the awful smell. It if tasted half as bad as it smelt, Shani might gag in the process. After he had made the paste he rolled it all up in a leaf.
Static gently manuvered Shani's head up and mouth open. He then squeezed in the foul medicine. "Shani! Shani, wake up! You'll get better now"
(( was this one of them? ))

When one pictures being awakened by extreme concern and care, one does not usually picture the manner of awakening to be sputtering while a very bitter paste is forced into one's mouth. Certainly Shani had never pictured it like that, though that was, unfortunately, what was happening now. Poor Static. He probably got some of that paste sprayed on his face...
Shani groaned and stood up, grimacing as the full taste of the medicine hit her. "Next time, just tap my shoulder. It's a much kinder way to wake me up," she said, wrinkling her nose a little and trying to get her bearings back.
((XD Well I pictured that he thought she might have died, but this was funny too!))

"That medicine works fast." Static murmered before tackle-hugging his grumpy patient. "I was worried. You were uncontious and with fever" He said before the smell and taste of the medicine kicked in. Static gaged and disengaged himself from Shani, washing his mouth out with the water from the river.
"That is...not a pleasent taste..." he spluttered. Still rinsing his mouth. In a way, static was proud of himself, he had never used his knowlege to heal someone before, other than himself that is.
((can't. stop. giggling rofl for a smart fox you sure are dumb Static.))

Shani blinked, then smiled and tilted her head. "Of course I was unconscious. That tends to happen when you take naps. I'm pretty sure I don't have a fever either, at least not the last time I checked." Thankfully Shani had gotten most of her giggles under control by now, otherwise she might have started up again at how completely convinced Static was that she had been sick.
That and how he was spluttering on his own medicine...
((lol Way to go, Shani. You totally corrupted that wall of pure logic, and made him delusional...))

Not a fever...? Then what was wrong with her? Static shot her a quizzical look."You were shaking and curled up in the fetal position. You had no injuries, so it was logical that it was something else. The likely possibility was some sort of illness. Syptoms of a fever seemed a good match" He said, embarrased
What was more embarrasing is that at the slightest possibilty of Shani being sick or injured sent Static into a worried fret. He paniced and dropped everything to help her. Even now when he thought it over, he supposed he had jumped to conclusions.

Shani chuckled, and butted her head against Static. "A fever would have set in more gradually. A suddenly onset of curling up and shaking would be more indicative of a poisoning. In which case it would be been a good idea for me to expell anything in my stomach at the time, but I haven't eaten since our hunting trip."
Shani took a couple steps back so she could grin at Static. "I was fine. Just saw something funny, didn't want you thinking I was laughing at you."

"Oh...well, ok...uhh" Static stammered, more than a little embarrased. Why didn't I think of that?! He should have known. More importantly he should have thought things over before leaping at the wrong conclusions.
"This has never happend to me before. I-" It became very difficult for him to continue speaking, but he pushed on "I thought you had an ailment and jumped to conclusions. The wrong conclusions." Dieties, why was this so hard?
"That reminds me, how many petals did you end up collecting?" Static actually couldn't make his mind up on what he wanted if he ended up winning, so hopefully Shani had more.

Another bubble of laughter threatened to escape from Shani's throat, but she managed to turn it into a single, loud cough. Static was just so unbelieveably adorable when he got embarassed like that, really.
At the mention of flowers Shani remember the entire reason why the whole laughing fest had come up. "Ah, only two. Looks like I hit a pretty barren stretch of land." She shrugged. "My fault for exploring rather than sticking to tried and true, but I find the unknown to be very enticing."

Static guessed Shani still must have the awful taste of his medicine in her mouth, the memory making him embarrased all over again. "I guess we have that in common" he chuckled, also remembering his enthusiasm to find out all about Shani's sub-speicies shortly after they met.
"So I collected the most then...but i don't know what i want as a prize..." Static didn't want anything, really. He was happy with what he had and couldn't think of anything that would make it better. He eyed Shani for a moment. Except maybe... Static blushed and looked away.

"Hmm?" Shani had watched Static as he spoke, and hadn't missed the blush and pointed looking away. She crept forward closer, so that they were hardly and inch apart, and lowered herself to the ground that that even if Static didn't face her she could still glance up at him.
"What? You can tell me, I won't laugh."

If it was possible for Static's heart to explode, it probably would have. Damn it, did she have to be so close? So, he went to peices when he thought something was wrong, that didn't mean anything, did it? Static was lying to himself and he knew it. "I want to keep seeing you."
Place Static in the same place with a fox he did not like, and he wouldn't be dulling it down and find it difficult to tell them just how much he disliked them. Shouldn't it be the same with an opposite scenario? Obviously not he concluded. "I am fond of you". He mentally kicked himself. Static wanted to back away, but he was rooted to the spot; his legs wouldn't obey him.

Oooh. Suddenly it made a whole lot more sense. A wide grin crossed Shani's face.
She had a bit of an unfair advantage in this situation. First off she was a lot more in tune with her emotional self, and seemed to have less trouble being open and honest. Granted Static seemed to be doing remarkably well, but she was willing to bet this was all a huge challenge for him.
Of course she found she was quite fond of the male as well, but that didn't mean she was going to let him off the teasing hook just yet.
"Oh? What kind of fond are we talking about here?"
