Tony cleared his throat and sat up. He was supposed to be the one drinking the other under the table, wasn't he? Unfortunately, he had been dumb about it, and was beyond the point of inebriation where he could actually pose a threat in a drinking contest.
It probably wasn't a good idea at this point.
"Oh, I'll be fine. I've stumbled home through worse," he mumbled, flashing a toothy grin. He wasn't going to take his car, at least, not so dumb as to think that was a good idea, even now. Not that walking would be much better. He was a magnet for all things bad, and would likely get himself into trouble the moment he stepped outside the library.
"Or I'll sleep on the couch," he said thoughtfully, looking at his cup, debating more.
"What about you?" He asked, looking up. A flash of his normal concern, the smile fading a moment so he could make sure Ever wouldn't go wandering into a street and get hit by a car.

"Mmm, I can manage the subway." He pulled on his cigarette again, shifting just a little -- bumping shoulder to shoulder, and holding out his left hand, palm-up, toward Tony. Wiggled his fingers once, meaningfully, with both eyebrows raised. His eyes were still laughing, but otherwise he looked very serious, yes.
"...gimme your keys." Another little wiggle. "You can sleep on the couch, and I'll give them back tomorrow."

After almost toppling over when he was nudged, Tony looked indignant.
"Why should I give you my keys? Who says you won't just take my car?" He shook his head defiantly. He was not about to let Ever trick him out of his keys, if that was indeed what he intended to do. Not that Tony was suspicious, per se, he was just possessive. They were his car keys.
He didn't feel like sharing them right now. He shoved his hands into his pockets, to protect his keys.
"And you shouldn't go on a subway when you're drunk and alone. That's a stupid idea. You take the couch, and I'll find one of the other chairs. There's a lot of them." There were. He often found people napping all over the library, and had to make sure everyone got out before he locked up.
Sometimes people camped under tables.

"I've slept in the library before, you can have the couch." It was an absent admission, dropped carelessly -- but was also probably rather telling. It sounded like Ever had done it more than once, and it left Tony to wonder if he meant during the day or if he'd been a table camper himself. His hand was still shoved out, shoulder against Tony's, fingers wriggling.
"And you don't need to worry about your car. I don't drive. Don't even have my permit. In fact, I don't think I've been in a car in....months." He offered a flash of a smile, both eyebrows raised. "Give them to me and I'll pour you another drink?"

"You've slept in the library before?"
That could mean many things. To Tony, it smacked of something sad. Like he hadn't been able to sleep anywhere else, like many of the homeless people who wander in to spent their day in relative comfort. Tony never stopped them, but he did pity them. Even when they smelled, which he was thinking about now, and when they had gross bare feet and he worried about the carpets even though he knew it was wrong to, when there was a person suffering right before his eyes.
These thoughts were troubling and he shook them off immediately, lifting his cup and remembering it was empty.
"Well, see that you don't take it anywhere," he grumped, and only because he was promised more booze as a present for playing along. He dropped his keys, after an epic battle with his pocket to free them from its wicked grasp, into Ever's open hand. Well, close to it, he missed his aim slightly and they landed on the side of his palm, slipping down.
He held his cup expectantly. Of course, one more drink might well put him out.

Ever took the keys and nabbed the cup, fumbling his way up to stand, slapping at the counter for support, cigarette between his lips again. Only now did he realize just how drunk he really was, and maybe it wasn't a good idea to go home after all. The subway would make him dizzy at best, and sick at worst, and...
"...hmmph. Not going anywhere." He'd just stick around here, and curl up somewhere. For now, though, he went to pour Tony another drink.
Of water.
He poured himself one, too, pressing a cup into Tony's hand.

Tony watched as Ever stood, grinning broadly.
"And you say I'm drunk!" He hooted, shaking his head. That just made him dizzy, and he toppled sideways a bit when he tried to stand up to show Ever how it was done. He bumped into Ever, though he tried drunkenly not to knock him over.
He took the cup as it was offered to him, frowning at the clearly not alcohol heavy drink inside.
"I feel cheated, sir," he informed his drinking pal in a very serious tone, but a glint in his eye that said he was not too upset. He imagined Ever was just trying to keep him from throwing up, or something, though he was probably a bit late on that front. He leaned back on the counter again, closing his eyes and trying not to fall to sleep.

Ever made an amused and worried sound as Tony bumped into him, his drink sloshing over down his front -- actually probably a good thing, maybe it'd wash away some of the alcohol he'd spilled there earlier, leave him smelling less like a drunk. It took him a moment to stabilize, resettle, leaning against the counter and squinting at Tony.
"Drink it, Tony." In demonstration, he downed his own in several long gulps, shaking his head as he swallowed. "...and I'll get you to the couch so you can sleep, some."

Tony frowned. He kept making deals with Ever, it seemed. But he was too drunk to really care. He drank the water and sighed, tossing the cup aside. It wasn't exactly empty, but he had enough of it to not mind the spill.
He took a very deep breath.
"Alright, alright," he grumbled, moving to try and stand. It was an incredibly arduous process, and he had to focus a lot more on the simple action than he might have liked. His leg wasn't helping, making him wobble as he put his weight on it. Wobble further, at any rate.
With a laugh, he threw his arm around Ever, grinning ear to ear. He was groggy and dizzy, but still in a very good mood. "This was awesome. Definitely a good idea."

Ever stumbled as Tony's weight settled against him, made a sharp noise of surprise -- he hadn't been as prepared as he'd thought -- and dropped his own cup in favor of clutching at the man's waist. It took him a moment to catch his balance, to focus on his feet, licking his lips and struggling to think...
"Um. Okay." This had been a bad idea, but now he was committed to it, hauling Tony along one step at a time toward the promised couch, with one look shot back toward the pizza. He'd clean up after. Maybe.
"We should do this again. Really, really should." His tone turned teasing as they got closer, just a little winded. "Except I should get you drunk and then start asking questions about your past, instead of the other way around..."

Tony laughed at the idea, nodding his head a few too many times, like he got lost in the rhythm of it. By the end of the exceptionally long nodding sequence his head was drooping forward on his chest, lulled toward Ever as they walked to the sofa.
He had almost nodded himself to sleep.
"I'd be game to do it again, definitely. Hell, it's not like you or I can get fired for it, right?" Well, he technically could, but the higher ups mostly just left him to himself these days. This was his library, for all intents and purposes, and there was absolutely no way they would find out about drunken nights in.
The library didn't exactly have security cameras. Who would rob a library? The security guard often left before Tony even did, when he did deign to show up at all. Maybe once a week, if they were lucky. No, the only real security was the magnetized sensors that beeped if someone tried to leave with a book without checking it out.
"Ah... sofa," he said thickly. Someone needed a nap.

"Yes, this is a sofa." And Ever pushed him down onto it, less than gracefully letting Tony slide out of his arms and bonelessly into the cushions. He settled against the arm himself, struggling to catch his breath, and swiped both hands up over his hair.
"You are heavier than you look, Tony." It was a teasing grumble, his eyes flicking sideways to see if the man was still awake -- and if he was looking back at Ever, too. Though, why he cared was harder to explain. He licked his lips and tried to decide what to do with himself. The wisest move would probably be to take himself elsewhere while he was still comfortably drunk but...
"Blanket? You need a blanket?" He could find excuses to stick around a little.

Tony flopped down onto the sofa. He had forgotten how criminally comfortable the couch could be.
Many times in the past he had worked too late and fallen to sleep on the sofa. In fact, he kept an extra pair of clothes in the extra office just in case he did pull one of those 'all night working' escapades. The thought to bring those clothes and store them had always been innocent, completely work related, but when Carol found them a couple years back she had given him such a hard time about it he still blushed thinking about it.
She, apparently, had taken a different meaning to him keeping extra clothes here.
"It's all muscle," he protested, when he was told he was heavy. It wasn't, of course: he was fairly squishy. Working on it, but still. He grinned at Ever, locking eyes with him teasingly. "Maybe you're just weaker than you think." He was leaning back on the sofa now that Ever had escaped him, though he was watching as keenly as someone whose vision was sufficiently blurred could.
Moving, he flopped down onto the arm of the sofa, almost hitting Ever since he had decided to lay his head down on the arm Ever was resting on.
"Eh," he said, as far as the blanket was concerned. That was all he offered on that subject, curling up on the sofa.

It'd be harder for Ever to be weaker than he looked, he thought, but he didn't mention it -- just watched tony for another moment before his eyes flicked up to the library around them, instead. He kept licking his lips, much too focused on them, fidgety and uncertain.
After just another moment, he pushed himself up to weave around the desk, to hunt down Tony's coat -- and his own, for that matter. It took him longer than it should have, and by the time he got back, Tony would likely be three quarters asleep.
Ever huffed out a sigh and dropped Tony's coat over him, leaning down to tug the edges into place. And, because he could, and maybe because he didn't think Tony would remember in the morning anyway, and mostly because he was drunk too, he stole a kiss while he was there.
It was chaste, at least. He pulled away before the man could protest.
