The phone he was holding up to the whisp gave a sudden buzz as a new message lit up the screen, and Seiji had to fight off the goofy grin that so easily took over his features when he noticed the name attached to it. Jack damn, it was actually annoying how terribly into that girl he already was. Sure, he could play it cool all he wanted, but that didn't make his pulse behave whenever she sent him a message or touched him. She was so warm.. Forcing the grin away, the boil frowned and tapped the screen to bring up the message, then read it twice over. "Huh, Seems a student went over board on Junko's boat, but they got her back. Hope that doesn't happen here." He tapped the screen again so he could type out a message of his own. New message to Junko It's good you got her back, and a fish? Weird. So what's it like having normal hair for a change? Glad you're doing well and hope to see you soon. Might let Jove use my phone to send you and Yaya texts later. He hit send, then pocket his phone as he watched A boil he hadn't actually seen yet jump overboard. Well, so much hoping. Or not. Was he fishing? As Calder and then Lizzy both joined in he had to assume they were. And from what they were saying he could only go on to assume that they were now in charge of their own meals. Great. "We'll text the girls later, ok Jove?" He grinned up at the whisp before holding his hand up to him so he could help him down. He'd do the same to Alessa as well. "Let's go see if we can catch dinner." Then an idea struck him, and he looked up at the many ropes hanging from the rigging. "Light bulb." Climbing up a bit, he used his clawed hand to cut a few lengths of robe free from the tangled mass, then collected himself a long piece. With a little creative knot tying he ended up with a net. Not a particularly awesome net, but a net all the same. Jumping back down to the deck, he'd pause to assist the other two, then wander over to the rail to toss the net in, letting it sink a bit before hoisting it back up with the.. leash, for lack of a better word.

"It's alright. I don't really want to be here all that much either, honestly... Although it really could be worse. Home, the place I came from before I got sent here... Well, Amityville, not here. Anyways. Home was by the sea so... I'm kind of used to... This." She brought a hand up, waving through the salty air before making a gesture towards the sea itself.
"Fishing, though? Ugh, no." Her nose wrinkled at the very thought. Fish were scaly and disgusting and while some of her kind considered them delightful raw and slimy, she preferred hers nicely cooked (at least one of the reasons why her parents had sent her off, she was sure). "I mean... I know some of the basics. I've watched other harpies do it, but..."
Aldara paused for a moment, glancing down at hands that, due to her skull pin, were not tipped in talons and from there right down to feet covered in shoes. She wouldn't admit it out loud, but maybe her parents had been right. She was pretty darn useless as she was at the moment.
No. No. She wasn't going to remain useless. She wasn't going to prove her mother right by admitting that she was of no worth whatsoever when she wasn't using the 'best' of her harpy attributes.
Momentarily ignoring the canine boil in favor of her own mental snit-fit, Aldara snatched up a nearby piece of rotting rope, attaching it hastily to her belt just in case her attempt failed (someone would pull her back up, right?). She kicked off her shoes, giving her toes a little wriggle on the damp deck before pushing herself up onto the rail and diving off. Provided all went as planned, she would just spread her wings and swoop down and grab whatever fish happened to be stupid enough to be skimming the surface at the time and then she would head right back up to the boat as though nothing had happened. She would be victorious!
Either that or incredibly stupid, a good bit cranky, and considerably more damp than she had been when she'd made her first attempt. Hopefully, hopefully, if her wings failed someone would pull her back up...

Jove waved down at Alessa enthusiastically, Seiji's words about summing up his feelings too. He hadn't been seasick himself, but it had been very troubling when Alessa had shown obvious signs of not holding up too well. How was he supposed to protect her when he couldn't even see what was ailing her? The pup was all contented tail wags as she joined them in the rigging.
His silent expression of pleasure only increased as Seiji held out the phone, the possibility of getting in contact with his long lost friends made the pup almost wiggle in delight. He might not end up having much to say, but just sending something and getting a response was enough for one who valued the presence of others regardless of how much they said.
Once everyone started coming up with devices for acquiring food, Jove watched Seiji's actions with unrestrained curiosity. He didn't have to eat but there was no denying he would enjoy a nice dinner that didn't involve travel rations. The wisp had gotten tired of those after the second day and had stopped eating entirely. Being an entirely unknowledgeable sort, he didn't exactly understand what fishing had to do with eating dinner, but the process of making a net intrigued him regardless.
He scrambled down to the deck after his friend, ignoring the offer of help as he did, his attention fully focused on what Seiji would do with the net. When Seiji threw it overboard, Jove dashed right to the rail and leaned over the edge to see it fall into the water. Unfortunately not a second later, the rotting wood under his palms gave out under his diminutive weight, and next thing the pup knew he was flailing midair and then splashing into the water next to the older boil's net.
With big, startled eyes, he dog-paddled back towards the ship and clung to the pits and grooves in the rotting hull. The little ghost took a minute to figuratively catch his breath. He wasn't hurt, and it wouldn't be hard to climb back up, not with the state the boat was in, but he was still a little shocked at the fall.
Unknown to the little canine, his scarf and fluffy tail drifting along in the water with the ship was a decent lure for a big, bold fish.

After some time, Cricket finally surfaced for 'air' from the depths of the boat, watching idly as the students went about their task. However, it seemed that a couple of students unearthed a little something special when they hooked something.
Thackery somehow managed to hook a fish that had a little bit of cargo with it. Very...soggy cargo. However, that may have been to his benefit when it was surfaced.

Very, very soggy.
Elaphe also seemed to get a fish that coughed up a little something special. Very...very special.

Soggy. And probably not worth much because the box wouldn't open.
However, for Calder, Lizzy, Seiji, Aldara, and Jove, their own fishing exploits would reward the each with a silver pumpkin seed. What lucky fishing!
Cricket didn't seem too very impressed, but none the less, it hadn't been too bad of a yield... and it was with that she finally consulted the glowing marks on her arms.
"Would you two lovelies like some work?"
......... Run while you still can(Cricket's next post will be her teacher-effect. I'll give you all time to respond to what is happening first though. Also, Nyet, Han, I'd say I need your minipet accounts, but I know them. For those curious: It was those who were closest to my rolls who got the minipets! C: )

Sure, Elaphe might have noticed all the looks of disbelief and uncertainty in his wake, but that didn't mean he'd show it! ... Or at least, he waited 'til he'd plunged far beneath the surface to frown, immediately second guessing everything he'd just done as the nerves took hold. Had jumping overboard been a good idea at all? Everyone seemed so nervous, but... no, no; he was a water monster, Jackdammit, and if there was one time for him to shine, it was here, right now, in a big open sea like this. He wasn't half as streamlined as he should've been, but at least his lungs still worked underwater, and just being back in his own territory left the Nguruvilu feeling much more at home.
He sucked in a deep breath full of saltwater, squared his shoulders, and plunged down deeper, keeping a watchful eye on the shadow of the boat...
It was approximately thirty minutes later that he finally resurfaced with a terribly undignified splutter, hauling himself back up on deck and straining to drag some... rather large... swimming thing in his wake. It looked like some flopping mutant hybrid between a large fish and a small shark-- near as long as HE was tall-- and judging by how grouchy and disheveled he looked (... not to mention a few conspicuous bites and rips in his pants), the battle had not been an easy one. With a hiss, he unceremoniously dumped the creature in front of him and, in a last show of victory, gave it a good kick in the side.
"........................."
Had it only puked up a box at his feet, he probably wouldn't have been as frowny, but the puddle of chunky, multicolored bile that splattered all over his pant legs and bare feet made graceful handling just a little difficult. In fact, he looked very much like someone who'd just french kissed a lemon.
Was fate just trying to prevent him from ever looking good?

exclaim Fishies Go Pook Pook Pook exclaim Soon after he had finished swabbing the deck, Hobknocker went to the mess hall to find something to eat. He had to keep his appetite in check less he try to sneak off with one of the students. The last thing he wanted was to accidentally find his teeth embedded into some student's brain. It was entirely possible for him to trip, fall, and bite someone on the head, right? As luck would have it, he found a barrel full of dead fish. After stuffing his face with one of them, he carried an armful out to the deck. They smelled horrible and some were questionably discolored but he paid them no mind. He went back downstairs to grab a few paint kits he had snuggled aboard and dropped them down with the fish. "Hey guys," he called out with a big grin. The few teeth he still had was yellow and chipped. "It's time to paint the dead fishes. One per student, but hey, if I end up liking them, there could be some prizes!" What student wouldn't jump at the chance to color a dead fish? It seemed like a great idea! Just imagine the colorful meals that could come from them! Rules+ Simply color/decorate the image above and post it in this thread. Please add a small roleplay blurb of your student painting the fish! + You can color this digitally or print it and color it traditionally. It really doesn't matter how you decorate it. + Concept will count for more than artistic skill. + This mini-event will close at 1pm EST (8 hours from the time of this post)

The fish she thought she had spotted in the water when she'd 'swooped' down (the one she thought she had spotted, at the very least) had been a flop. Her 'swoop' had turned into a bit of flailing resulting in the clumsy snag of a silver seed along with a dazed harpy smacking into the side of a boat, dangling from a rope for a moment before pulling herself up. "Well that sucked." She muttered softly to herself as she sprawled out on the deck for a moment, eyes lingering on the seed in her hand for a bit before her attention was drawn to the Hobknocker. Fish. He wanted them to paint fish. "Ugh..." ... ... ... Aldara had picked up her fish, staring at it with disgust for a good bit as she tried to figure out just how she could turn it into something other than a grey, gross, scaly mess. In the end she snatched up some paint and a few brushes, putting every ounce of fashion and design talent she thought she had into making it beautiful.

He didn't catch a fish. He wanted a fish. He was HUNGRY. It tore him up he couldn't swim and he watched the other boil, looking for signs of him when he had last submerged many minutes ago. It was nearly half an hour since the boy came up, but it felt like HOURS to Calder. Aside from some weeds that, surprisingly had a silver pumpkin seed in it, he had caught no food. Instead, he wondered if there was buried treasure after seeing that seed and wished he could dive down into the water and see for himself. Instead, the long waiting made him sleeping and he held his makeshift rod as he thought about buried treasure and swimming in the reef.
When the TOT came up, he jerked away, yawning and perking up at the smell of fish. Still hungry, he pulled up his line and went over, watching as the boil from before moved up with a fish he caught himself that hurked up a big box. Seemed the wildlife here tended to eat badly. Still, Calder could smell the water on him and wanted so badly just to give him a hug to take some of that water from him.
Instead, he watched as the zombie dumped a load of rather past-expiration fish and set down paints. Seemed it was Arts and Crafts time with some of the oddest materials.
While some students plopped down, Calder took some greens and found a nice spot to sit, before looking at his fish. It wasn't TOO discolored to eat, was it? What was the rule? Sickly Green, life is keen. Fuzzy Mold, Just too old. He couldn’t decide what color it was between, and sighed, picking out his paints. Still hungry and head fuzzy with the smell of water, ocean, and fresh fish and wood, he started to really think of home. Taking his paints, he started to idly color it green – well, more green. Then he added stripes and soon he had the one design that ruled all others. PLAID!

(( Woo, momma. I'm lagging a bit on doing my daily fail. OOPS. OH WELL. I'll do the event stuff later tonight as to not interupt the event, buuuttt... CRICKET RELEASES THE LEVIATHAN ))
It seemed that for all the stamina the 'crew' had lost that day, Cricket was going to be making it back up. Certainly she didn't seem like she was enjoying it, but the process itself was fun to watch. The woman held up one arm, the centipede-shaped-markings peeling themselves from her 'flesh' (it was ectoplasm, to be exact) and seeming to start glowing. Cricket glowed a touch more herself before she released the two centipedes on the floor of the deck and let them skitter away.
The centipedes made a quick round while the students went about painting their fish. So...very special
Each student has recovered 5HP (So basically the loss of HP from the last event has been countered, ha ha)

Oddly enough, a silver pumpkin seed dropped out of the mouth of her fish, and Lizzy proudly pocketed it; it was like looting your kill! She stared long and hard at the now barely twitching fish, however, and decided to toss it overboard, letting it back into the ocean. She would rather not eat it... She'll just live off the boat's FEAR for now. As she left the porthole to go below deck again, her attention was caught by the boat's ToT guide; painting? That's an interesting activity to pass the time! While the thought of using a smelly, decomposing dead fish as a canvas might be less than appealing to most, Lizzy got to work almost immediately, finding the 'canvas' rather interesting.
She first painted the body a dull green, as the fish scales reminded her of Chuppi. Idly, she wondered how the monster was faring on her boat, and her thoughts soon wandered over to another adorable ghoul friend - Amrita. Lizzy couldn't help but frown slightly with worry as she dipped her brush into some off white paint, painting the right side of the fish's face to resemble a partially exposed skull, just like Amrita's face, completed with a black circle for the eye socket. Of course, thinking about Amrita brought her thoughts to another friend who was on the same boat as her - Jericho.
She had asked the red dragon to take care of Amrita in her stead, and she trusted him, but... She couldn't help but worry! Still, there was a soft smile on her lips as she painted the fins of the fish red, completed with some black stripes, designed to resemble the wings on his natural form, which she first saw a close-up of after the Scarentine's party... Although Scarentine also made her think of poor Arachne. She was stuck on a boat with that Demon boil, who was the last person she would want to see right now... Her smile faded as she took a thin brush, painting a red spider web on the end of the fish before flipping it over and painting a small heart below the eye on the other side, like Arachne's birthmark.
Scarentine contained good memories too, of course. Such as her success with setting Tess up with a date! Thinking of the legless ghoul, Lizzy decided to cut the tail of the fish off; hopefully the ToT guide won't mind... Although she then remembered that talk she had with Tess after the party, and the conclusion of that talk - which involved a most irritating puppy puppy-like reaper. Pausing, she frowned, then smiled, then frowned again at the thought of Mac. Meanwhile, the dorsal fin of the fish was painted brown with some purple - his hair was his most distinguishing feature. She found it rather fabulous actually, not that she would ever admit it to him.
Now her fish looks so mixed up... Like a Patchwork. Like Christof.

... Great, staring at the fish made her miss her friends even more, even the irritating one and the rather creepy one.

"Nice, nice fishies indeed." Hobknocker was clearly impressed. They all looked good enough to eat. He scooped them up, intending to place them back into the barrel he had pulled them out of. Surely the ship cook would be as impressed as he when he spotted them laying against the other dead fishes.
"Aldara, Calder and Lizzy, you each get a silver pumpkin seed for your colorful contributions!" He fished around in his pockets and pulled out some silver pumpkin seeds, throwing one at each of them. Without another word, carried the fish back downstairs.

In no time, Calder now had 2 pumpkin seeds to rub together. Sure, he was hungry, but at least he was a little richer and for some reason, felt a tad bit better. Pocketing his seeds, he watched the TOT pirate leave, taking his smelly art with him. As he did, Calder turned to look at the big fish Elaphe caught and came over, looking at the fight and then back at the boil. Well, it was his catch and as nature dictated, his to devour. Frowning, he turned about and clambered back up on his crates, taking his fishing rod and wondering if he really could catch anything. After three minutes, he huffed and tossed his fishing pole to the side, putting his elbows on his knees and setting his head in his hands. He was feeling restless and strained, and he needed a vent other than just STARING at the water he couldn't have.
Stepping off the crates, he went to pace about the deck for a while.

Jove falling overboard had been unexpected and damn near panic inducing. Thankfully they hadn't been going very fast, and the smaller boil had managed to gab hold of the side of the ship. Of course that was only a minor comfort as he watched the little whisp. "Jove! Get back up here!" Sure others had jumped overboard and been alright, but they were bigger, and he hadn't been watched to ask over them. He also hadn't spent the entirety of their trip thus far getting to know them. It made a difference.
Leaning as far as the railing allowed, the ghost boil held a hand down to the pup, ready to hoist him up the remainder of the way the very second he had something to hold onto.
Screw coloring, he had a whisp to reel in.

Charlie had actually been pretty quiet and calm during the trip so far. The first day he'd amused him self with the pirate crap but now that was getting lame and boring. The pink haired demon now found him self mopping around the ship feeling a little yearning for land.
The demon wandered over to Lizzy and sighed.
"Are we there yet..." He tugged on her dress like a child trying to get its mothers attention.

Jove looked up, sodden ears perking as much as possible as he heard Seiji shouting down to him. Letting go with one hand he waved, just to reassure his friend that he was perfectly fine down there. The other ghost sounded anxious for some reason...
The little wisp eyed the hull above him, and slowly started picking his way up the ship. There were enough pockmarks for his fingers and toes to grip on, although he would have made faster progress had it not been for the water soaked into his fur and clothing. A couple times his grip slipped on the slimy wood and likely gave his friend the ghost equivalent of a heart attack. It wasn't too long before he was within range of Seiji's grasp, mostly oblivious to the emotional turmoil he had caused his friend.
