++Squad 4 Guard: Lux of the White Rose++

Lux pulled the full ten feet of his blade from the ground and slung the massive sword over his shoulder before mounting his horse. He put a hand through his mane. Lux rode without reins and a saddle he felt they were cumbersome to the beast. They walked in the direction the other two had left in time to hear Shalrien's comment about time. " I personally think we all need to relax when we get back, after loosing Mal a night at a nice inn would do us all great." he said, knowing full well that they weren't likely to agree, but the process to get a new handler and sync them to Lady Mayu would take a while.

Mayu Nikita
Squad 4's Vestec

Mayu noticed the other two moving, listening to the grass shift beneath their feet. Heading over to her mare, she swung up onto her back lightly, some of her jewelry tinkling as she did. Her head remained lowered, still feeling like she was intruding a little between her two guards. It wasn't like she was a third wheel, but it was similar to that feeling. Ok... they've moved on, just..... just don't worry about it. It's their business, they'll deal with it as they will.

Hearing Lux, she nodded a little, thinking over what she could do to try to make everyone feel better. "Most definitely." She agreed softly, a particular song finally hitting her. It was something one of the elders in her village had taught her whenever they had to bury their dead. It was the first of three songs that would be sung, the last accompanied with a dance and usually instruments. Although the others wouldn't be able to understand the words, they would understand the gist of it.

Taking a moment, she took a deep breath, and began to sing. The first of the three songs started as a prayer of sorts for the well-being of the soul as it passed on. Initially it was rather solemn, but then it became quite light-hearted and bright. First you prayed that no harm would befall them, and such. Then you hoped that they were enjoying merriment and good company. Her native tongue came easily, the melody flowing and winding through the air. The end of this first song would lead into the second, but she planned on saving that for later when they weren't on the move. Perhaps if they found a village on the way and stayed at an inn she would sing it then. But for now, she let the song flow through her body and out into the air, feeling it wrap around the trio as they made their way towards the capital.

Rosa Zabójca
Squad 12's Guard

User Image

After they had been moving for a while, nothing really happened as of yet. The tree's had begun to disperse, opening up onto a road that winded between two farms fields. In the distance was their destination, a quaint sort of town that was pretty nondescript besides it's general cozy sort of feel.

As if she wasn't already on high alert, Rosa took a deep breath, expanding her senses further as if she didn't have them stretched enough already. "Everyone be alert. Our report said that there only seemed to be one wandering about, but it may have spread." She called, not mentioning that she felt like something was off. Normally during the day you'd see people out in the fields, but she didn't really see anyone.

Once they got to the outskirts of the town, she saw there were a few people wandering around, but they obviously were concerned about something, glancing about as if death might swoop down upon them at any given second. She even saw a few men standing guard in the more populated sections such as the market. At least they are trying to do something on their own about.

Iren Loun

'Irene'

Iren moved back, away from the males face,
"I feel nothing" she stated in disappointment but not in surprise. This was at least the fifth time she had tried to bond with Vestec, though all had ended the same way. Iren started to question her compatibility with another Vestec, it seemed as though she had no deep ties with any of them.

She left the elders as the mumbled some of the same questions she questioned herself, walking towards the stables.
"I'm going for a ride" she said turning around to face them, placing a soft smile of her face before entering the stables and going out of sight. Immediately her smile faded as she walked down the small isle, admiring the horses they kept at such high quality despite the constant attacks going on everywhere. Never ending bloodshed and sorrows, though she quickly changed her minds subject as she reached her favourite horse.
"I knew you were here" she talked to it, clambering over the gate to its pen and walking towards the horse. Iren was glad they hadn't used him on errands or other business today as usual since she loved riding him.
She'd named him Calico, after the horse she had when she was a kid, not in comparison but as a new life.

Walking him out of the stables by the rains, she turned and headed away from the central of the city she lived in, turning to the woods and vast spaces she rode in a lot.
Quickly jumping onto Calico’s back, Iren gently tapped his sides and cantered off.
She rode down the sides of the town and headed to the large like, just beyond the trees. It was in a massive clearing, mostly made when Deathwalkers came, though the ashes they left had created beautiful flowers which they used to commemorate the dead.
"Just a typical day" she said quietly as she slowed the horse to a slow trot, closing her eyes in the breeze she breathing the air in deeply. She trusted Calico with the way since he knew these woods almost better than she did, as well as almost being her personal horse that she only used.
Well, most of the time.

Amaya
Squad 12's Vestec

User ImageAs they approached the next village they were assigned to, squad 12 seemed on edge, though Rosa did the most. Amaya was beginning to look a little pale, a sign that there were indeed deathwalkers nearby as she took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. "They're definitely here..." Amaya murmured tiredly, already beginning to be affected.

Rosa Zabójca
Squad 12's Guard

User Image

Rosa swung down off her horse first, ignoring the stares that she was getting from some of the villagers. She knew it was about her clothes but like she really cared. They were easy to move around in and they hardly inhibited her. She let go of Jack's reigns, the stallion snorting as she walked over to Amaya and offered a hand. "Any idea which direction they are in?" She asked her softly, glancing up as she sensed movement near them.

It was a young girl of about 8, staring at them from about 20 feet away from them. Rosa let one hand hang at her side, resting on the hilt of a hidden dagger just to be safe.

"Are you here for the scary things?" She asked softly, standing very still where she was. "We don't get many visitors nowadays."

Now she was on edge, she wasn't sure if this girl was a threat or if she was just calm in the face of the steady destruction of her town. Nodding to the girl, Rosa turned to face her, waiting to see if Amaya sensed anything or not from the girl.

Gondin
Squad 12's Guard

User Image

Gondin began scanning the town as they went, spotting an inn, a shop for supplies, a blacksmith, etc. With everyone else looking primarily for the threats, he figured his not-so-keen senses could at least take note of the important locals.

He reached over both shoulders and checked to be sure both of his swords were clear in their sheathes and kept one eye closely on his companions. He would just have to react quickly the second he got a signal from them.

Shalrien and Shade
Guard and unofficial guard of Squad 4

User ImageIt had been a few days since they left to head back to the capital, and finally they had arrived. Various groups milled about, some waiting for orders, others preparing to start their new journey or even their first one. As squad four moved through the crowds, it quickly became apparent to everyone that their handler was missing. Shalrien refused to look anyone in the eye, simply staring ahead as they approached the main building.

When they arrived at the steps of the main building where the ones in charge of the entire organization resided, squad four was greeted by then two guards in charge of the rest of the guards in the organization. Shade growled lightly, not liking their presence as they approached Shalrien. "Who is the guard in charge of this squad?" The first guard asked. The two men were huge, almost towering over the horses as they stood perfectly still, waiting for their answer. "I am." Shalrien said as she slid off Shade. The cat was about to follow as the men motioned for Shalrien to follow them, but the second guard now stepped in the way. "No one else enters, wait out here for your guard to return." He said, his voice booming as he shoved Shade back towards the others. Shade hissed, but Shalrien turned and smiled softly at the cat. "It'll be alright Shade...just wait here." She said before the guards led her off, disappearing inside.

It was an hour before the doors opened again, and when they did, they only opened briefly for a pair of arms to throw Shalrien out and down the steps. When Shalrien stopped tumbling down the stone stairs, she groaned as Shade ran over to help her up. Shalrien had a black eye, busted lip, several bruises all over her body, and now a few cuts and scrapes from her fall down the stairs. "They said that we'll begin to search for a new handler tomorrow, tonight we rest." Shalrien murmured as she used Shade to keep herself on her feet.

Amaya
Squad 12's Vestec

User ImageNodding Rosa in thanks as the woman helped her off her horse, Amaya glanced over to the little girl before a dark look crossed her face. "Disgusting..." She murmured as she stared at the little girl, able to sense what she really was, though it would be much easier to tell how many were about when Senel activated her powers. "Senel...now." She said quickly as people began to gather around them, making Amaya extremely nervous about how many were deathwalkers and how many were just normal people.

Iren Loun

'Irene'

Iren stopped her horse completely and gently slid down Calico's side and to the ground, light on her feet as she bent her legs slightly.
"Why is it these days are so long, let so short lived?" she asked to no one but herself, although she looked to Calico who obediently walked by her side with no assistance of rains.
She smiled, looking back up ahead of them at the quickly setting sun. It would be dark soon, a time of being where no one wants to be alone. She sighed in the cooling day as she turned 60' to the right and started heading back slowly, at her own pace. If it got too dark she could always canter her way back, especially since Calico was one of the fastest horses she knew.
"I'll make it back in time, though i can't imagine they'll be happy" she said to the horse who also seemed to sense the time slipping faster, Iren hated it when they got mad at her. She quickened her pace into a fast walk, gradually getting faster and then into a run. Though she wasn't running in fear as much as she was running for the pure joy of it. Calico easily matched her speed though she could run fast, jumping over the rocks and dents in the soil as not too trip.
Iren could see the lights of the edge of the city now, and she slowed again jogging slightly with her horse, avoiding the eyes of the guards of the wall area.
She slipped past most people unseen and into the stable where she removed Calico's riding gear and grabbed his brush. Iren walked to his side and pushed her body weight up so that she sat on the edge of his stall, able to reach the whole of his back and begun brushing him slowly.

Mayu Nikita
Squad 4's Vestec

User Image

Mayu glanced around as they made their way into the capital, the team seeming calmer than before. She was certainly more at peace after having done some prayers as was customary to their people. Watching as the two guards approached, she straightened up on her mare who pawed at the ground. Stroking her neck, she shushed her gently, her lips tightening a bit. Frowning when they told them that only Shalrien could enter, she opened her mouth to speak out, but then fell silent as Shade was rejected as well. Sliding off of her horse, she walked over to Shade with Marianne in tow, her hand sliding over his silky fur.

While they waited, she amused herself by watching the people go by, doing her best to ignore the stares that she received. She knew these people were used to seeing various Silver Guard troops, but it was probably still a rarity to see a Vestec Nia so close. The way she was dressed probably didn't help either, but it couldn't be helped now. Her ears perked up as she heard the movement right before the doors opened. Jumping to her feet, she ran forward to Shalrien, feeling worry rise up in her chest. Even though Shade had it under control, she still offered an arm to her guard, a frown creasing her lips in concern. "Alright. Do you want me to help you with the bruises or anything once we get to an inn?" She asked, glancing around to the crowd, able to hear what some of them were murmuring.

Turning away from Shalrien for the moment, her hands clenched into fists at her sides, anger for once creasing her brows. "Hey! Mind your own business you abdul shok!" She snapped, startling people before turning to Marianne and jumping up onto her back. "Lets go and get you rested up." She spoke to Shalrien with a soft warmth, giving her a small smile before she set her mare to a trot towards the nearest inn.

Gondin
Squad 12's Guard

Gondin had picked up on what was going on. He didn't need any more hints. He quickly got off his horse and walked over to stand next to Amaya. Positioning himself to be sure he and Rosa had her flanked. He didn't go in to any sort of combat stance. If they really did have deathwalkers around he didn't need to set them off before they had vision. So he did his best to look unassuming and casual, even adding to the act by asking a nearby villager where the nicest Inn was in the town, making up the excuse on the fly that they were just passing through. But all the while he was tensed and ready to spring in to combat.

Rosa Zabójca
Squad 12's Guard

User Image

When she saw Amaya's face darken, Rosa drew out her dagger, holding it almost parallel to her arm. Bending her knee's, she was ready to strike, grimacing as people began to close in. Obviously the little girl was one, but the rest..... she had no idea.

"Hey... You are here for them aren't you? Are there many? Can you tell? Do you know where they are?" The little girl asked, taking a step forward with each question.

"Shut up." Rosa muttered, personally having no patience for the little brat's games. She had a throwing needle ready, but the only reason she paused was because she wasn't sure how the others would react if she struck down the one. Would they swarm? Would they pause? Would they blend into the crowd by freaking out along with the rest of the actual humans? Would they all transform right then and there? s**t...... Goddammit Senel, what the hell are you waiting for? Looking to the handler, she sensed someone get too close, gritting her teeth. Bending her knee, she kicked him square in the chest, hard. It all happened in a second, his body going flying back into another person. "Everyone, BACK THE HELL OFF!" She roared, a steely glint in her eyes. She was in no mood for games.

++Squad 4 Guard: Lux of the White Rose++

Lux had spend most of the trip back to the capital in silence. His silence was broken only after they reached the capital and people began giving them strange looks, He heard comments about how they were missing a handler and missing a person. his agitation grew with each aside comment and remark he heard. he cursed his hearing. As they approached the main building two men 'greeted' them. When asked who their leader was Shalrien had stepped forward, the two took her inside. After what seemed like a lifetime she emerged, if that's what you could call it. They threw her out of the door and she tumbled down the steps. she got up and used Shad almost as a crutch. Lady Mayu mentioned getting them to an inn. Lux nodded and finally spoke, " I know a great one in the upper-class part of town." He smiled hoping to lighten the mood a bit.
