Personality: Siren's Sorrow is basically mute(hence an ironic name). He/she finds his/herself to be more of a sideline character in the family, and doesn't seem to mind much. He/she takes this ability to easily eavesdrop on others, fascinated with others and their conversations. Though it doesn't look like it from his/her stoic face, he/she loves his/her family, and will be present whenever he/she can even if he/she has nothing to contribute. He/she often muses to his/herself mentally and uses 'spirits' as an explanation for how the world works when Echo doesn't explain things to the foals. He/she accepts their father's ways and doesn't try to get his attention knowing that he/she doesn't have a chance and sees Resonance as a poor, pathetic being trying to strive for what he'll never be. He/she accepts Midnight, but as he/she ages wonders how being a man manipulater is a "perfect" personality when their parents aren't like that.
It's not uncommon for Siren to silently stalk family members as his/her form of comfort and companionship.
Short Prompt Response:
Resonance visited today. We were all happy to see him, though I do feel a little sorry for him when our father ignores him. Every stallion wants his father's approval, but the spirits don't smile upon my older brother. I stayed near him for a bit, but he isn't used to my quietness and went after our Father again. He'll never learn.

Father barely acknowledged us when our older sister was around. It's the markings, Mother has told us. The more you have, the better you are in his eyes. It's so strange, but it's what the spirits told him to like, I suppose. Father doesn't talk to me much, but I would rather watch him with the others anyways. If we're not how Father wants us to be, then will we be like Res? I'll just have to keep an eye on my siblings so that they don't end up broken like he is. Hopefully they'll be able to accept our mother's love if Father doesn't pay them much more mind than he does me or Res. She lacks standards, but someone has to or we would all be kalonas.

Name: Aurora’s Refrain (female), Evenfall (male)

Personality: Sorry for writing two, I had two very different characters in mind based on gender and figured I’d just write about them both, just in case! wink
If Female: Aurora is always seeking approval, whether it’s from her siblings, mother, or peers, but most of all from her father, perhaps because she knows that he is the most unlikely source of acceptance of all. Aurora may or may not be of interest to her father, but regardless of how much attention he really does pay her, it’s never enough for her. Every interaction will leave her seeking more approval, and every time he distances himself, she feels utterly devastated. The opinions of others matter a great deal to her, but daddy’s the only one who can completely shut her down with so much as a disappointed sigh.

To compensate for her feelings of inadequacy, Aurora tries very hard to make an impression on everyone. She’s not the fastest, most beautiful, or the most skilled at anything, but she tries with everything she’s got to stand out, giving everything she does 110% effort, especially if it‘s something her family cares about. Deep down, she feels that if she can meet her father’s approval, he might hang around the family more, and she believes this will make her supremely happy. In truth however, she may never be satisfied because of her deeply-rooted insecurities.

If Male: Evenfall takes after his father - or what his father used to be like before he chilled out, anyway. Evenfall is strange and even as a young foal prefers to distance himself from others. As he grows he’ll only get creepier, preferring to keep to himself and speak very rarely. He will never be the type to lose his temper and yell, rather he broods and glowers, lashing out violently when whoever upsets him doesn’t suspect it.
There are very few things that truly make Evenfall happy - and even fewer that he’ll openly admit to. He likes to observe others without them noticing him, taking great pleasure in the fact that he can hide himself from them. He also likes to see raw emotions - particularly unhappy ones - and often tries to provoke others into showing them so that he can be amused. He’s fascinated by these mostly because he himself feels very little. Evenfall rarely smiles, and when it does it’s usually faked.

Evenfall prefers the evening - you’ll almost never catch him out in the open in broad daylight. He has no aversion to sunlight, but he hates being so exposed and obvious - at night he blends in much better. His mother and sister(s) are the only ones he has any real feelings towards, and though he will never really show it, they’re the only ones who could ask him to do something and have a chance of him actually doing it. Everyone else, as far as he’s concerned (and this includes his dad and his brother(s)), are not important to this cold, strange stallion.

Short Prompt Response: (Female POV)
Aurora could never understand why Dradneos didn’t act more fatherly towards his offspring. Her mother was happy to care for them; why did he seem so distant all the time? Aurora thought it was unfair, but that didn’t stop her from trying to change things. Her mind was always going over what she might have done to displease her father each time she felt he was especially estranged to her. No doubt he had a reason. Was it because she was so weak?…

It was nighttime, and the sky was clear. She enjoyed these times because she liked looking at the stars, but also because most of her family would be asleep, leaving her alone with her thoughts. She loved her big family, but the ability to occasionally slip off to be alone was nice, too. Though usually, these moments were not as peaceful as she would have liked. Her mind was filled with the days events, going over everything she had done and wondering what it might have been today that her father had disapproved of.

“Was it that I was too cheerful? I know that can wear him thin sometimes.” Aurora spoke quietly to herself, standing in the shadow of some nearby trees, “Did I speak too much? Maybe that irritated him…”

Nearby, she heard a rustle of dry grass. Lifting her head and staring into the darkness, she could just make out the shape of a stallion… it was her father, leaving again. She sighed, and felt the weight of her disappointment so greatly that it seemed to crush her. Why? she thought to herself dejectedly, Why can’t I be one of the ones that makes him want to stay?

Name: Night’s Wonder

Personality:
Foal: Night is a trickster, from the moment his basket pops, he’s constantly teasing his siblings, even the older ones. He has no real malicious intent at this young age, but does begin to see the difference between how his parents treat their children. He begins to respect the cool indifference that his father pays to his older brother, and begins to adapt that as well, following Dradneos around, trying to act just like him.

Adult: When Night matures, he still idolizes his father, still trying to be like him. He still does pranks, but now as they are directed towards his siblings, it is to sabotage them, so he can be in the spotlight. If he can incapacitate his other siblings at least a little, then he will be the star son that he deserves to be. He will gain his fathers love and respect, no matter how he goes about it. The Night will go on forever.
Short Prompt Response:
Night walked through the forest, squinting in the sunlight. It was too bright, he preferred the cool darkness of the night for which he was named. The stallion watched his father talking to his elder sister and jealousy flooded through him, but, also a sense of satisfaction. His other siblings didn’t have the determination he had to be close to their father. Sure, his other sister had more of his markings, and he seemed to like her much more than him…but it wasn’t difficult to upstage her, flinging mud onto her coat, jutting in front of her, trying so hard to prove to his father that he was the best. He may not have had the right looks, but he had the spirit. He wasn’t content to just become a mama’s boy, no. That was a job for his sister and his older brother, even if the latter wasn’t ever really around. Res was to be avoided. He didn’t deserve fathers’ love. No. Only Midnight and Night did. He grinned, going towards his father and elder sister, towards the people that he aspired to be like. His idols.

Personality: Vesper is a very gentle soul who is always looking for the approval of others. She is also mommy's girl through and through. Even though Vesper is always looking for others approval she is a bit of a smart mouth. She always gets herself in trouble because she won't step down from a possible fight.
Dempster is a very quite soquili who rely's on himself more then others. He doesn't feel like he belongs with either of his parents, which he seems to share with his brother. However, he very critical of others (either good or bad). He is not much of a fighter, but he will protect anyone he deems worthy of it.

Dempster watched as his father cooed over his older sister Midnight's Whisper. They looked almost identical to him, in more then just thier looks. Somehow, their personalities were exactly the same as well as their views on life. He laid silently on the soft grass as he usually did and just watched everything around him. Dempster hardly spoke to anyone except for his older brother, which wasn't anything personally against his mother or other siblings. But he seen things in the world 'outside' of thier home. He longed to visit other places, but he knew he wouldn't stay long in them. It was just the journey to get their that excited him. After a few moments Dempster realized he was daydreaming once again. He seemed to do that very often. Dempster looked over at his mother with curiousity. Even though her mate treated most of their children with distain she had stayed with him. Could love really be that strong? He contemplated this for a moment. Maybe it could. Maybe there was more to his father then he understood at the moment. A small grin crossed his muzzle as he pulled himself onto his feet. Maybe Dradneos didn't mean to treat some of his children better then the others. Dempster nodded for a moment. Yes, his father probably did it because he felt a stronger kinship with those that looked more like him. Maybe this was his 'epic journey'. Dempster looked up at the night sky. "That must be why." He said as he tried to convince himself that it wasn't anything personally against him and his other siblings.
