She let go of his tail, dancing back into the open air of the outside. She danced back a drop more, baiting the trap. She would be done with him...

He dodged, managing to avoid the full brunt of the force though it did grace him. He lunged at her again.

With a smirk, Namir pressed his advantage, only to stumble back when a pebble hit his head.
"Well, well, w'at 'ave we 'ere?" another voice called out as the Imp sauntered forward, toying with another pebble under his hoof.

"Goddess? W'at goddess?" Paelor asked, curious. While he didn't have a problem distracting a predator, he wasn't going to risk his neck for a stranger.

"Mary, Run!" Taphos called as she raced from hiding and scrambled up onto the back of her deity.
"And abandon my child when he has come to my aid?" Mary asked, fire in her eyes. "Never!"
"It's not..." Taphos scrambled for a thought, an idea, inspiration, anything. Ironically enough, she silently prayed to Mary for it, and then... she had it. "It isn't abandoning the child, it's a test! A trial by fire!"
Mary hesitated, conflicted. This could be seen as a trial....

Paelor tossed the pebble at the skinwalker before jumping to the side and diving under a bush that was too narrow for the skinwalker to follow.
Furious that his newest prey had eluded him, Namir turned on Mary again.

"My Goddess, might I recommend running now, and rewarding the child after?"
"An excellent idea, disciple Taphos." Mary turned and fled, mirror swinging around her rear to defend it like a mobile shield, adrenaline letting her run on her twisted leg, though pain shot through her such as she had not felt since she had been mortal. Truly that had been no ordinary foe!

Namir started to give chase, giving in to his baser instincts, only to stop just before leaving sight of his primary goals. The carvings he had been studying. Ah, well.... if the foolish mare or that half pint returned, he'd deal with them then.
