Bouncing Delphine gently on one knee to try to stave off any tears, Kay listened to the others talk about Polar. "Um sure I guess." she answered a little concerned about meeting this big non-dog creature but too embarassed about Delphi's tanty to say no.
Delphine relaxed as her mama bounced her and as she noticed Thylassa was more interested in playing with her mama's tail then worrying about her fin puffing display.
"Actually it's probably partly the fish bit to." Kay went back to answer Gullien's earlier question, she drew Delphi into a quick hug before bouncing her again. "Lionfish are agressive predators." She sighed as she watched Delphi begin to smile again. "Poor kid has a heck of alot of predatorial instinct to fight against I think."
"Bloo" Delphine burbled as she was bounced. Hey she was bouncing like Roo did! She waved at her mama and then at Thylassa to show off more than anything, but also as if to acknowledge things were fine again.

Thylassa ignored Defi's gesture and climbed out of the fountain, using Gullien as a stepladder despite the ninja's complaints. "Me get Pola'. " she informed Gullien and Kay, rather proudly and proceeded to suit deed to words, running down the hall on blue bare feet.
Gullien watched her run off for a moment, before snapping her gaze over to Kay, her expression suddenly rather more aware than it had been. "You're trying to get a vision who made Delphine... Tell me exactly why you want to try to hunt down someone powerful enough to create life and callous enough to abandon it. Is it just curiosity or do you really want to bring down a powerful mage on yourself?" To want to actively seek something like that... the kind of person that could create and abandon children like Delphine and Thylassa... It seemed a fool's errand to her and one that was likely to get them all in trouble. Did Kay really want to alert someone with that kind of power to this shop's location?
Thylassa wandered down the hall. She couldn't read the names on the doors yet, but there were symbols there to help. Her's was the door with the big eyeball. Same eyeball as she had on her doorkey, probably. She shrugged as she pushed the door open. Somebody liked eyeballs, probably. "Pola'! Here boy!"

Delphi huffed and kicked her legs as Lassa walked away. She wished that she could walk too. Or atleast crawl, that would be something. Then she could do things on her own, like find out where her mama had stashed the fishies.
Kay stopped boucing Delphine out of shock at Gullien's sudden change of tone. "Well it's not really like that." She said bringing Delphine in for a hug and feeling slightly like she'd had a talking to from a teacher. "It's more like finding a memory attatched to an object. I used to do it alot with things like letters and jewlery that belonged to people who'd died." She paused for a moment, "But then again I haven't really tried it on a living thing for quite some time, and never on anything sentient. Or inherently magical..." She mentally cursed herself for her stupidity, if she'd actually tried it on Delphine, for all intents and purposes a magical being - anything could have happenned. And damn she hated feeling stupid.
Delphine had been preocupied with contemplating wether Roo would like a dip in the fountain, but she paused as she heard her mama's voice trail off. She sounded sad? "Ma" Delphi said gently reaching up to pat her mama on the cheek. Hey she shouldn't ever be sad when she had someone as smart and beautiful as Delphine to look after!
At the gentle tap on her cheek Kay looked down. "Thanks chicken" she said tapping Delphi on the nose causing the mishap to go cross-eyed.

Diehard_Dreamer "Salem!" Catherine smiled, clapping her hands together happily. "You made it! Thank gods." The idea of being alone with so many children scared her.
Garreth came towars the open door. "Hi!"
Hovering in midair Aphrodite, grabbed Ike's finger and began to pull. "Come on, let's help my mama. Rhad's making popcorn." Rhad's frown quickly became a smile as he watched the mishap struggle to bring in the far larger squirell mishap into the room. Catching sight of the albino his stomache flipped, shaking his head. Ugh, he did not like this feeling of his stomach being in some sort of psychological knot. Damn you emotions!
Leonie bounced about, flinging herself onto the couch. "I wanna watch My Neighbor Totoro!"

"Hey, Cath-baby. I'm happy to see you too." He had a hard time keeping himself from laughing. Cath looked so releived to see him. It was cute.
Cato on the other hand had taken his hand back and stood on his own, looking Ike over curiously. "Mine..." He uttered softly. What was his? The soft tail that he was now holding between his second pair of hands. Gently he pet the white one's tail, even following him if he moved. Pulling the tail away without warning would be a bad idea however. He was only petting with one hand. He'd already learned how to control his hands and so had the other one sticking to fur. If Ike pulled too hard he was going to have a good sized bald patch.

Rhadamanthus blinked, hisintense glare aimed at the spider mishap from across the apartment. How dare he claim Ike!
Leonie blinked, her little hooves up in the air. She sighed bored, grabbing the remote she turned on the large TV, flipping through the channels until cartoons were on.

Aphrodite sighed, letting go of the squirell mishap's finger, and flying back into the apartment. If he was just going to stand there, she might as wel just let him.
Catherine hugged Salem tightly, buryign her face into his chest. "Thank you."

Hey she shouldn't ever be sad when she had someone as smart and beautiful as Delphine to look after! At the gentle tap on her cheek Kay looked down. "Thanks chicken" she said tapping Delphi on the nose causing the mishap to go cross-eyed. Sooo... Kay didn't actually know what Seer-ing Delphine would do? That was... not a particularly great thing. She shrugged up at the other girl. What Kay wanted to do with Delphine was Kay's business, really, but she'd prefer not to have to fend off something that Kay attracted. "You may want to think more about this plan then. Have you asked around? Talked to Maggie? It sounds as though she has some magical ability. I'm sure there are other Guardians here that has magical experance as well." Maybe. Probably. "At the least, there is a huge library here. It might have some advice. It's one thing if you want to look for whoever created Delphine, that's your business. But is it really wise to do it without knowing the consequences? There are a lot of children here and most of them very young. This place has many magics in it, but I don't know how strong it is. Tactically it's... eh." She flopped one hand. The place really wasn't that well fortified non-magically. A weak spot. "Besides... assuming the person who created is harmless... what would you do with them? What would you do if they wanted Delphine back?" She glanced over at Kay, waiting for the other's reactions. Would she still go ahead? Looking for things... she'd learned long ago you never found what you wanted."Pola'!" Lassa cheered as polar bear-puffin griffin trotted eagerly to the door. He barked happily at her, sniffing at her feet. Or something. Whatever sniffing without a nose was. "Wan' go play, Pola'?" She asked, throwing her arms around his neck. The griffin cocked his head Lassa, fixing her with one black eye. Lassa figeted as the griffin appeared to think, and cheered as he nodded firmly. Pola' quickly took the lead, trotting out the door and then kicking it closed behind the both of them. Lassa followed him back down the hall to Kay and Gul-len, wet footmarks in her wake. She didn't really wanna go back, even with Pola'. Unfair. She didn't do anything and Defi was all mean and roaring at her. Well... just roaring. It wasn't like Defi bite her or tried to pull her eyes or anything. And Kay and Gu-len didn't look upset, either, really. Maybe Defi roars meant something diff'rent than Sabriel roars and Pola' roars. And Defi was a baby.... Lassa nodded, having convinced herself quite quickly to like Defi again. After all, Defi WAS a baby. Ye had to be nice ta babies.

Kay sighed sadly again. "Guess I didn't think things through very well." Her ears perked up at the mention of a library. "The library sounds like a good idea. And so does atlot of reasearching before I do anything. And waiting until Delphine is older and I understand her and mishaps better?" She smiled ruefully at Gullien. "I guess there's alot I've got to learn about everything here." She said grabbing a wayward Roo before he could take a plunge into the fountain. "I suppose I haven't quite got over the whole Seer attitude thing." Kay sighed handing Roo back to Delphine. "You know that we know absolutely everything about anything and always know more than anyone else."
Dephine snuggled Roo quickly as he was handed back to her. The almost as quickly she was holding him upside down by a leg over the fountain again. Surely Roo would like to swim, his big feet could make huuge splashies! Before she could however her eyes went suddenly huge and her tail puffed out. "Ah!" She squeaked grabbing onto her mummy's shirt tightly and in the process letting go of Roo. The poor plushie ended up headfirst in the fountain.
The seer jumped slightly as Delphine tried to bury herself in her shirt, poking her awkwardly with her spies in the process. She bent over to retrieve a sodden Roo from the fountain when she espied Thylassa comming back with something. Something big and scary looking. "Oh my." She said weakly hand letting go of Roo, who took a plunge into the foutain for the second time. "I.. I take it that's Polar?" She said slightly shakily turning to Gullien for some reassurance. Yup definately alot to learn.
Delphine peeked out to look at the scary thing again and this time noticed Thylassa standing near it. Her eyes bugged even wider. Was this 'Lass's friend? Had she bought him to eat Delphi for being mean??? "Ahh!" she whined hiding her face again. She didn't want to get eaten!

"Err...I'm coming, Di," Ike said and took a step forward, trying to follow the disappointed-looking little girl without dislocating his tail.

Had she bought him to eat Delphi for being mean??? "Ahh!" she whined hiding her face again. She didn't want to get eaten! Catching sight of the new people and Gullien, Polar warked happily, breaking into a humorous awkward run that was, all things considered, alarmingly fast. He made a weaving beeline towards Gullien, over Gullien and into the fountain with a mightly splash and a rather gleeful bellow. "POLAR!" Gullien bellowed back, standing up and shoving the griffin away from her and the other two unfortunates by the fountain. Typical bad timing. She'd have to talk more to Kay about this Seer thing later. "Ugh. Yeah, this is Polar. Polar, Kay and Delphine. Kay and Delphine, this is Polar. He's not our dog, but you can probably see why Lassa thinks he is." Recognizing his name, Polar warked again, fanning his wings in greeting and generating a wave that oh-so-coincidentally soaking everyone again. Standing at the height of a Labrador Retriever and proudly wearing a blue collar, it rather was apparent why Lassa considered Polar a dog. The eagerly wagging little tail rather completed the image.
Delphine didn't look too happy about Polar though... actually, neither did Kay. "Don't worry. He's utterly harmless. Capable of a fair amount of property damage, but harmless." She sat next to Kay on the fountain's rim, keeping herself between child and parent and the wayword griffin in the hopes that it might calm Delphine a little. Polar tried to press forward to smell the new people, but Gullien simply pushed him back with one foot and he huffed and turned his attention to the approaching Lassa. Harmless and smart enough to know when he wasn't quite wanted.Lassa puffed up the fountain. Pola' was fast! Proba'ly the two extra legs. Drapping herself over the rail she peered up eagerly at Delphine and Kay. "Dis is Pola'!" She exclaimed, having no idea that Gullien had already stolen her thunder. "He's a dog. He eats kibble! And.... uh, fish." Oops. Defi was a fish. "But o'ly little ones. That are all fish, no people parts!" She clammered awkwardly into the fountain, climbing onto Gullien's lap and peering at the hiding Defi. "Defi no like dogs?"

Kay eyed Polar warily, he did seem to be well trained and Gullien did trust him with Thylassa, but he was still large and Kay had never been a dog person, apparently this passed over onto not-really-dogs too. She gave a sigh and petted Delphine's head reasurringly, "It's ok sweetie, look, it's just 'Lassa's friend."
"Bah!" Delphine waved an arm at Lassa, while still keeping her face mostly hidden. "No isshie!" She wailed still obviously frightened that Lassa was going to feed her to her giant friend.
"I guess she's a bit scared." Kay replied to Thylassa, "She hasn't really seen anyone like Polar before." And neither have I, she thought to herself. Kay cuddled Delphine again. Should she leave? Delphine was rather scared, but then again it would be rude, and Polar was harmless, so maybe it would be good to stay and help Delphine not be scared anymore?
Apparently Delphine had decided that if Polar was going to eat her he would have done so by now, as she peeped around to look at him then at Thylassa. "Poowa?" she asked the other Mishap slowlys. "Et ishie?"

"Little fishie." Thylassa demonstarted with her hands, getting a little bit anxious. She'd wanted to show off, not scare Defi. "Real little. Like... tiny little." The space between the hands got smaller and smaller with each revision of fish size. "Defi WAY too big." She threw out her arms to indicate the way and peered hopefully at Delphine.
"Polar can be a little alarming." Gullien agreed, watching the griffin cheerfully chewing on a piece of decorative metalwork. And... then pulling it off. Oops. "He's harmless though. He's actually saved Lassa's life once, so I think that would qualify him on the helpful side of things, really. He won't touch you, Delphine." Gullied added. "Polar won't eat anything that talks. Just give him a chance. Do you want to try to pet him?" She addressed the last question to both Kay and Delphine.

Delphi blinked at Thylassa's explaination. Polar ate little fishies like she did? She manuvered herself around on her mama's lap to get a better look at Polar. He wasn't that scary looking she decided. Kind of fluffy like... Roo... "Woo!"
Kay relaxed rather alot more when Gullien mentioned him saving Thylassa's life, if he'd done something that brave and heroic then he couldn't be all that bad. She became distracted at Delphi's loud exclaimation. "Oh bu..bugspray!" She managed remembering poor Roo was still in the fountain. Lifting up the waterlogged plushie she wrang out as much of the water as she could and sat him down with a wet sounding smack on the edge of the foutain.
Delphi reached out a tiny hand to poke Roo. He was wetter than all of them! She gave the plushie a proud pat on the head and turned back to inspect Polar again.
"Um sure we'd love to pet him." Kay answered Gullien, seeing Delphine had finally settled down. "Wouldn't we Delphi?"

"Pola'!" Lassa gestured the griffin towards them, wrapping one small hand in his collar as he waded over, the chunk of metal still firmly clamped in his mouth. "He likes havin' his head scratched." She told Kay and Defi, squirming to pull Pola' towards them while still remaining in Gullien's lap, finally ending up sprawled half across the griffin. "But he doesn' like his beak touch'd. So dun do it. Do it like this!" She demonstrated, scratching lightly at the top of Pola's head. He closed his eyes, making deep throated noises of appreciation as she rubbed. "Now you do it!" Lassa demanded of her captive audience.
The stuffed toy made a rather... unpleasant noise as it squished down on the fountain rim and Gullien winced. Hopefully the plush was more resilent than most. She absent-mindly captured one small blue leg before it could kick the plush right back into the water. "I take it you've found the store here?" She nodded at the roo. "I'm pretty sure I've seen someone like him there. Have you explored much of the HQ yet?" Found the minishop but not the library... well, that was reasonable. Babies required diapers long before they required books. Books made lousey diapers too.
