"He's very young. I wouldn't risk it until he's old enough to understand the risks. ...So I suggest you keep that medallion very, very safe. ...At least, outside the high power balance of the caravan. ...I think that's the safest place, where people may not be able to corrupt him even with the medallion." she put her hand up in a cautionary gesture. "But please don't take my word for that. ...Just, be very cautious. I know you have Kale's best interests at heart always.'

Marissa nodded while she listened; her eyes were kept low and she stared at the tabletop. "I understand," she muttered. "Your words are locked safely in my heart, Oqaia." Standing slowly, she lifted a dozing Kale onto her hip (she noticed abesently that he was getting heavier). Awkwardly, she pulled Oq into a swift embrace, trying not to disturb her son as she did so. "I trust you, and will heed what you say with all care," she assured. "It is only that...the situation...is..." she quieted, blinking hard as if to clear her thoughts. She instead bent over the table, studying the aged pages before her.

"Do you mind...if I borrow this book?"

"It's Valelldia's... but I don't think she'd mind. Please, take it." She closed the tome slowly, and handed the volume up to Marissa before she showed the woman out. The remains of the embrace lingered as she watched Marissa go- hoping- praying... that they'd done some good that night...

The young rabbit girl sat on the floor of the wagon, painting some goose eggs. Once they were dry and she was content with their appearance, she placed them in white cloth bags that her mother made. Opening the door, she snuck out into the night and secretly delivered each egg.

After the ordering, Lorelei debated over just who to go to with her... uniquie problem. After a few moments, she decided on Oqaia. While she knew Val well enough, she supposed, Oqaia would always hold a special place in Lor's heart, from helping Vanna's first appearance all those months ago, sitting by the fire.

Smiling wistfully at the memory, and holding a sleeping Vanna in her arms, Lorelei knocked.

Oqaia had been doing something that was very strange for a gypsy... but all too familiar to a girl who had grown up in the city. She was rolling her hair in rags, hopeful that it would take a rounded, pleasant shape by morning. So when she threw open her wagon door to find Lorelei and the sleeping, fae like Vanna in her arms, her first thought was not one of cooing smiles or greetings for the happy pair- but rather, a pinkish blush that rather matched her hair as she realized how she must look.

"Lorelei..." she spoke softly, so as not to wake the babe. "Come on in! Sorry to be all at angles..." She stepped back, giving the redheaded woman entrance to Blessed Change.

Lorelei smiled at Oq's odd appearance. She'd never had to curl her hair like that - the rampant curls were all natural, and helped along by her braid.

"Good evening," she whispered back, shifting Vanna slightly in her arms. "I have a bit of an odd request for you... I seem to be in need of... well... an exorcist of some sort."

"Oh goodness. Well... oh." Oqaia was stunned. "Now there's something I never thought would be said. Hold on, let me look in one of the books Val gave me. Come in, sit down."

Her hair was forgotten as she pulled one of the massive tomes of spells and information that she had borrowed from Valelldia back when Marissa needed to know about Queen Firos. This was not the same book- this was an old plainsgypsy spell and incantation book- filled with rather straitforward spells that made daily life easier. Things to the nature of self-cleaning wagon spells, spells to help groom animals... even one to summon workers and helpers to build wagons, dig wells- and other such. It was near the front of the book, and Oqaia copied it to a piece of parchment to give to Lorelei.

"It's a plainsgypsy spell. It summons a ... helper for the job you require. They will come in no more than one day- winds will spirit them here, if they come from afar- and if they are near, they will simply feel pulled to come. I... suppose." She pressed the parchment into Lorelei's hand. "Simply try it, and don't forget to say it backwards to send them home once they have completed the task."

Lorelei took the paper. "Thank you... I'll put Vanna with Voltaire and Annjette for a night or two while I wait for the... helper. It's too late for me to concentrate now, but I'll send for him in the morning. Thank you, though - the whole ordeal has been running my nerves ragged."

Lorelei inclined her head and curtsied slightly. "I'll be back soon to tell you if all went well, or..." With a shrug, she backed towards the door. "Have a good night's sleep, Oqaia - after tonight's ceremony, you surely need it!"

And then the redhead was gone, heading for Voltaire's wagon with a stirring Vanna in her arms.

Caroline slinks across the wagon circle just barely after dark had fallen, although her movements are countered by her skirt, merrily jingling quietly as she moves. Rolling her eyes, she just walks now.
She comes to Blessed Change and raps on the door, when admitted, she takes a seat opposite Oqaia. She'd never really met this woman, Val's..half-sister or some such, but the other caravan members had told her to ask Oqaia if Val was busy.
She takes a deep breath. "Could ye....could ye ask the Meij what can be done to let Rojiza speak? I know it's tearin' her apart inside."

Oqaia did not have the crystal ball that her sister had- nor would she have been able to understand its depths if she did. That was a magic that was as of yet beyond her powers. However, she had her long-seeing runes, a silver-bottomed scrying bowl, and numerous fortune-telling books laid out on the floor of Blessed Change.

"Alright..." Oq said, kneeling down amidst the books and casting the runes. Squiggly lines... a pair of horns- rose rune... what did they mean? "Oh... sorry..." she apologized, "I have to look one of those up." So she sat on the floor of her wagon, thumbing through a book.

"Oh... not antlers. Okay.... but... that... hm." She sat there a long time- still not completely sure... until she leaned over nearer the window to take a book off her shelf- and she caught her reflection in the scrying bowl.

But... it wasn't her reflection. She had never had chestnut-brown hair. Oqaia sat and stared into the bowl, rolling it gently around as the image solidified. She stared at the image- Rojiza, and then saw a visual meaning of the runes. Only then did she look to Caroline with confidence.

"The meij sees three paths for Rojiza. One, a prophecy of guilt. Music punishes her, and keeps her voice from her. The second- she has no need for guilt, and she shall grow into her birthright at the hands of a travelling man. The third- her guilt is consumed by forgiveness when she is qiute older.... and she finds her voice when a boy's choice is made."

Caroline sighs. "I think the Meij is in cahootz with my Banya," she mutters darkly, but with good humor. "Well, Miss Oqaia, thank ye kindly." She stands and curtsies. "I'll remember the Meij's message. Do come visit Ro an' I sometime, eh? We'll have tea." She exits the wagon and goes back to her own, heavy-hearted but buoyed by hope.

Lor approached Oqaia's wagon, thinking over what Heather and Marissa had said. She was scared to hear more of her child's future, but... if there was a way to prevent it, it would be best to know more.

Climbing the steps, she knocked. It may have been better to visit Val, but Lorelei was much more comfortable with Oqaia. Besides - the Meij would reveal what it wanted to reveal, wouldn't it? It didn't matter who the medium was for that - it only mattered when it came to interpretation, she supposed.

"Hello Lorelei!" Oqaia was pleased to see the woman she considered her friend at her wagon door. "Come in, make yourself comfortable." When they were both inside, Oqaia took a seat near her own boon table and offered Lorelei a seat.

"What can I do for you?"

Lorelei sat down, smiling a little, if uneasily. "Well, the ghost problem is all over, I dare say. Thank you so much for your help with that... if you don't mind, I have something... more to ask. I'm sure you know of the recent multitude of Banya prophecies?

"I don't think mine is as immediately important as those who are worried about the forest, but after hearing how others have had their fortunes illuminated... well, I want a deeper insight into Vanna's future, as well as my own. Aleysius mentioned betrayal on the water..."
