Michael felt a tad frozen where he stood. It was killing him not knowing what Morgan was talking about. She was acting a bit strange as well. She was mumbling around and seemed nervous. That wasn’t something he was used to with her. Why couldn’t she just tell him? Michael always found that to be much easier. People should always just say what they mean. Of course that would mean that Michael would have to admit to Morgan that he liked her. …Okay so he had no grounds to complain at the moment…

Before there was anything he could do, Morgan had left the room saying something about being upstairs in ten minutes. Now his curiosity was running like wildfire. What was she doing? What all did this involve? Was this some elaborate prank she was going to pull on him? Nothing he came up with made any sense. If only he could read minds. Well, technically he could but she would know what he was doing. He didn’t want to invade her privacy and then have her actually be mad at him.

Needing to move around, and thinking that it would be best to get out of the leader’s private space, Michael went up the stairs and then had no idea where to go. What could he do to occupy his time for ten minutes? The only thing he could think of to do was walk, which ended up to be more like pacing. He tried not to think of what Morgan was up to. If he continued to do so then he would just drive himself insane.

Once the ten minutes were up, Michael felt the built up anxious feeling hit him. Now he simply had to find Morgan and hopefully this whole thing would be explained. He thought the obvious place for her to be would be her room. He found the door shut. Normally, he would knock on the door and wait for her to answer but that wasn’t the case today. No. Today he was too curious to wait any longer. He knocked on the door and then simply opened the door. What he saw made him stop in his tracks. There was Morgan in a stunning dress but also wearing her combat boots which just made it more her. A smile crossed his face instantly at seeing her. She was so beautiful and the need to speak these words was strong but he had to crush them done. It wasn’t like she got dressed up for him.

”Wow, you look….amazing.” He felt he had to catch himself from staring at her too long. It was hard to take his eyes off of her. ”So…uh…what’s the special occasion?”

(oh Michael, you silly boy)

When Angela nearly snapped at him for one of his previous comments, Travis became confused. He wasn’t really sure what he said to make her seem so upset. All said was what he thought was true. Sure if there wasn’t any werewolves and vampires then I’d probably doing something more human like sitting in a stuffy office from 9-5 living a boring life. As bad as having these monsters exist, it was nice to have an exciting job like this. Plus, if he didn’t have this job, then he would have never met Angela, and that was something he would certainly not want to miss. Meeting Angela was probably one of the best things that has happened in his life, but he wasn’t going to actually say that to her.

Expressing his love to her would just be too embarrassing for him. He felt like the nerdy kid in school who had a crush on the perfect cheerleader who was way out of his league. Of course, this wasn’t high school, but he still didn’t want to say anything about his secret love for her. Instead he tried to focus on what she said next about wanting to inform the boss about Mitch before telling the others.
Yeah, that probably would be the right idea. Travis could only imagine the craziness that would ensue once everyone found out about what Mitch did. “I think you’re right. He would want to know about this.” Travis paused as he thought of what to say next.

The silence was too weird for him to deal with, so he felt the need to say something.
“So what do you plan on telling the boss? Do you think he’ll be angry? If you want, I can go with you, so uh, you’re not alone” Travis almost immediately regretted saying the last thing that came out of his mouth. “Um, so other than running into Mitch, how was your night?” He wanted to change the subject and hoped that by asking about her night he didn’t step on too many toes. Right now he felt like he was walking on thin ice by everything he was saying and wished he never said anything.

Hearing the door open, Morgan felt her heart begin to pound within her breast. Torn between staring at the floor or being bold and raising her chin to look at Michael’s face, Morgan ended up keeping her face somewhere in-between. Look up, don’t give away your discomfort! He can sense that you know. Biting down on her lip, Morgan was so surprised when Michael complimented her that she wasn’t sure whether or not she should believe his words. It wasn’t like she thought she was ugly…it was just so strange to be complimented…by Michael about looks. Feeling very awkward, Morgan’s hands began to fidget behind her back. Tugging at the fabric of her ruby dress just to feel the sensation of the fabric against the pads of her fingers.

So…uh…what‘s the special occasion?” Morgan’s face would have paled over if it was possible; at any rate, her facial features became muddled in asphyxiated perplexity. ‘
Oh crud…I don‘t have an occasion…’ Regretting the fancy-ish dress she had chosen from her closet, Morgan nibbled on her bottom lip and fidgeted for a moment before thinking of a reasonable explanation and offering her good friend a smile. Walking towards her little bed, Morgan sat down on the edge of it and patted the spot beside her. Hoping he would sit down at her little pat gesture, Morgan just kept looking down at her out-of-place shoes hoping that Michael was still staring at her for a good reason. Spill, girl, he’s waiting for a reply. Morgan nibbled her lip before raising her hand to push a few strands of her hair away from her face and actually show her face so that he could see the little smile she offered.

Well…we haven‘t really talked for a while now. At least it feels like weeks, so us talking again, is something to be happy about…”, Morgan had more to say, but in the last minute found that she was too afraid to mention what she was going to state. Feeling like a coward, when she wasn’t in every area except this, Morgan clamped her eyes shut. just GO already? Morgan certainly wanted to, but forgot everything she had planned on saying. Reaching out, Morgan tried to grab Michael’s hand and hold it. Maybe he would get the idea before being wierded out by the awkward ‘closeness’. Failing at the last minute, Just go! Okay, I‘ll go.

Um…You asked me about something Rameses told you?”, Tempted to play dumb, Morgan knew that she would just be drawing it out and giving in to her embarrassing lack of confidence. It was better to get it out instead of dance around the subject…but boy, did she want to keep dancing around it. Go! Morgan clamped her eyes shut for a split second before breathing in a breath so that she would have the ability to speak more words.

Ilikeyou.”, Spitting it out much to fast for the average human to comprehend, Morgan half hoped that Michael wouldn’t hear it, make a confused face, and say: What was that? so that she could make up something else to cover her mistake. ‘ Oh GOD! I shouldn’t have said anything!’ Leaning away as if she expected a playful pat or smack on the face, Morgan tugged at the sleeve of her red hoodie to hide her hands within the sleeves like a spider retreating into it’s little burrow. Every nerve in her body zinging on edge from vulnerability for saying such a thing.

    Leo Rookery

    User Image
Leo Rookery had been busy with work for weeks now. Of course, not many people who apart of the group knew this. He had some secret plans that he was working on and only a few people could be trusted with some of the information. He, and he alone, knew everything about what he was up to and he wanted to keep it that way, for now. If anyone was to find out about it before they were educated enough, they might find him crazy and ruin everything. Genius such as this had to be eased in.

It had all started with Mitch, his first successful DNA change. Of course, there had been other failed ones, they usually ended in death or Rookery simply killed them or rather ‘put them out of their misery’. The one success wasn’t enough. He had been hoping that Mitch would be able to help him find a perfect specimen for the next level. The first few weeks that Mitch was away, Rookery had received word from him on little things but lately, he wasn’t receiving anything. Rookery had been afraid of such a thing happening. It wasn’t like he wanted to lose Mitch, he was one of the best, but he couldn’t expect a werewolf to stick around. That was all Mitch was now, one of them.

Rookery had been keeping his eye on Angela since she returned from her trip out. He knew something was wrong with the way she was acting. He couldn’t exactly go up to her and ask her straight out. She wouldn’t respond. After taking her in at the young age of fourteen, Rookery had learned Angela’s behaviors. You had to let her tell her story when she wanted to. If you tried to coax it out of her too soon, then she would lash out and you would never discover the truth. So he just watched her out of the corner of his eye. He had taken up ‘camp’ in the security room where cameras all over the base could be found. He discovered Angela in the training room and once more, found that Travis was in there with her. Now Travis was quite the solider, granted, he was no Mitch, but still fairly decent. He listened to their conversation for awhile before deciding to pay the two a visit.

When he reached the training room, Rookery was able to catch Travis wondering aloud, what his reaction would be to finding out about Mitch. He couldn’t help but chuckle at that. The way he spoke, it was as if the two were his children and they had done something wrong. That was far from the case. The two of them had done nothing wrong. Mitch was the one who should be punished and he will be…in time.

He didn’t waste any time waiting for Angela to continue the conversation before entering the room. ”I doubt Angela will have much to say considering the night is still young.” Anglea’s eyes immediately glanced up at him and Rookery could see the pain in her eyes. Now Rookery might not be Angela’s real father but he at times considered her like a daughter. If he were to ever have a daughter, he would want her to be strong like Angela. It didn’t please him at all to see her like this.

”Sir, I have something I have to tell you.” She stood up and boldly faced him, ready to put the mission first and her feelings second, a great attribute in a fighter. He lifted his hand to stop her. ”I know that you ran into Mitch today. I hope you are not offended but I overheard some of what the two of you have been talking about in the security room.” He didn’t add that the ‘overhearing’ had been intentional. ”I’m sad to say that I’ve suspected as such for a long time. Still, I’m sorry that you had to find out in such a way, Angela. I know the two of you were close and it pains me that you had to deal with him blindly. But Mitch is a werewolf now. He doesn’t think the way we do anymore. His mind has been warped. He is nothing more than a beast now and we know how beast like him must be dealt with.” He paused briefly letting the idea sink in. The two of them would have to accept this new idea of Mitch being the enemy.

"Mitch will have to be made an example of and we will deal with him in time. For the moment, I think it will be best if we do not tell the others. I don’t want to cause panic for everyone else. I don’t think many people would sleep easy if they knew Mitch had joined the enemy. Everyone knows how skilled he is. It will be best if we wait to say anything until we have captured and dealt with him.” He waited for the two to agree with him. He couldn’t have either of them going around speaking what they knew. ”It will be kept a secret between the three of us, is that clear?”

”Yes, sir.” Still strong as ever. Rookery knew she could get through this and he knew that Travis would help her. It was good that she had a friend with him. Angela didn’t socialize on friendly terms with many people. ”Good. Travis?” Waiting on Travis’s answer now, Rookery hoped the boy would be smart about this.

”Well…we haven‘t really talked for a while now. At least it feels like weeks, so us talking again, is something to be happy about…” This confused Michael quite a bit. So talking because they hadn’t talked in awhile was means for dressing up? Michael wasn’t too sure when that became common knowledge. Should he have been dressed up? He was so confused that he was ready to just fall to his knees, begging Morgan for mercy to just explain everything. He knew he couldn’t do that. He would just have to suck it up. Let Morgan say whatever she needed to say and try and be patient so she could say it when she wanted to. Although, this waiting around was killing him.

After a bit of silence, Morgan brought Ramses. So was this whole mystery going to be solved now? He couldn’t see why Ramses hadn’t just told him from the beginning. It would have helped him out so much to go into this whole mess knowing everything. Part of him thought Ramses did this whole thing on purpose to just torture him. He seemed like the type of guy who would find enjoyment in the torture Michael was enduring.

While he was waiting for the answer to his question, Michael couldn’t help but curse himself. Why did he have to complicate his amazing friendship with Morgan by developing feelings for her? Why couldn’t he just look at her the way he always did, like his best friend? Part of him wondered if telling Morgan his feelings, if that would make it less uneasy around her. Maybe if he told her what was going through his head, this whole problem would disappear.

Lost in his thoughts, Michael almost missed what Morgan had said. He tuned in just in time to hear something he thought wasn’t possible to be true. ”I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you. I thought you said that you liked me and that can’t be right.” Michael then realized what he just said and tried to fix the situation. ”I mean, not saying that you don’t like me as a friend. I mean, you gotta. We are best friends, after all. Not that I’m speaking for you. If you don’t want me for a best friend, that’s fine. I should have just said that I consider you my best friend. Anyway, you can’t like me as more than a friend because that would mean that I’m dreaming and did I really just say that to you?” After the train wreck that came out of his mouth, Michael just froze. He basically told Morgan that he had a crush on her. He couldn’t believe that he just did that. Well if Ramses was listening in, in anyway, he probably got a huge kick out of that.

((Hey guys, I think a time skip will be coming up and I think we’ll skip ahead a week or two? That way we can have interesting things happen…
Also, sorry that this post is kinda strange.))

I‘m sorry, I didn‘t hear you.”, Had Morgan been a warewolf, her ears would have drooped. Great…I thought you said you liked me and that can‘t be right.” Seemingly widening her eyes from shock, Morgan could only stare into the face of her best friend as he continued to blubber on incessantly. Her ebony hair falling down to frame her face, Morgan was half tempted to remove the red little bow holding some of her hair up in order to hide behind a curtain. As much as Michael tried to mend the situation…his comments were only making it worse. I’m not saying that you don’t like me…I mean you gotta. We are best friends, after all. Hearing his blubbering in a jumble, he could have very well just said: I don’t think of you that way, and I‘m trying to come up with an excuse so we don‘t have to stop being friends. But then he kept going! If you don’t want me for a best friend, that’s fine. I should have just said that I consider you my best friend.

Time stopped, even if only for a heartbeat. Stunned by those words rambling out of Michael’s mouth, Morgan instantly regretted everything she had tried to do to gear herself up to confess to him. ‘
Whats the point of dressing up? I just look ridiculous! And it was all for nothing…’ With fluid welling up within her chocolate brown eyes, her expression carried a strong resemblance to one that a person made after having been smacked in the face. Of course Michael was her best friend. He was her Michael, and a part of her heart would always think of him in an affectionate, brotherly, manner…But…’ Mean your dreaming? What do you mean?’ Confused beyond capacity, Morgan tried ever so hard not to cry. Ever so hard not to show Michael how much pain she was in. No doubt it was written all over her face; but, if he did happen to see tears he might never forgive himself and leave the room to wallow in remorse or guilt. Why should he have to suffer for not feeling the same way? Maybe Michael was just confused…babbling because he misunderstood what she was saying. Next time don’t take the cowards way out…use the word you meant to use! Swallowing her pride, Morgan raised her shaky hands to cup Michael’s jaw line and turn his head towards her face. Feeling like every fibre of her heart was crushed and on display, she had to close her eyes when their eyes met to keep any fluid from falling down her face.

N…no Michael…I…I don‘t think you understand…”, Feeling fluid rise up from within her throat as if to try and choke her words and salvage her pride, Morgan stopped speaking long enough to clamp her eyes shut. Unfortunately, even for being a vampire, the pain in her chest was just too great to ignore. It wasn’t the worst heartbreak she had ever experienced in believing that her best friend was ‘trying to be nice’ but it was a considerable blow to her heart nonetheless. Opening her glistening eyes, Morgan shifted her gaze away from Michael’s towards the floor. Their shared eye-contact had simply become too painful for her heart to casually endure. Looking into his eyes whilst trying not to weep would be the same as crying. Who could see how watery her eyes were and not come to the conclusion that she was in pain? Looking away simply so she could fool herself into thinking that Mike was oblivious to her inner torment, Morgan used a few seconds to compose herself enough to continue speaking. Her words now broken and wavering from the fluid gathering and rising within her throat. ‘ If we can‘t be friends we can‘t be friends…I‘m just going to be honest, and ruin everything instead of pretending…’ Letting go of the bottom lip she was nibbling, Morgan’s eyes flickered back toward’s Michaels face. As painful as it was to share eye-contact with him, she had to submit to the torment. It was the only way she could ever say the word she had hoped never to say again. All in all, that momentary pause only lasted three human seconds.

I think I love you…”, Waiting in painful suspense for some kind of shock or dismay to shine on his face, Morgan’s eyes began to water uncontrollably from the pain of expecting rejection. Blinded for a sheer second until the fluid fell down her right cheek, Morgan would have raised her hand to wipe it if not for her bedroom door slamming open. Seeing Rameses standing there with the most inquisitive expression on his face, Morgan felt absolutely mortified. Not only had she just exposed every facet of her heart to Michael; but, it had also been overheard by their leader. Feeling so very exposed; naked, Morgan wished she was sitting closer to the closet so that she wouldn’t have to make a leap and dash to have a suitable hiding place. Childish as the desire to hide was. Her owl eyes demanding the reason why Rameses had opened her door, the man closed it just as quickly. As if purposefully trying to break the intensity in the room. Successful in that regard, Morgan felt more mortified about Rameses entering and leaving to consider the possibility of Michael possibly giving her a reply. Distractions being the key to several pain reducing techniques, Morgan felt the temperature of the air begin to chill once more. Alone with Michael was almost unbearable, and Morgan tried ever so hard to think of an appropriate excuse so that he could flee this awkward situation, and thus enable her to hide about in her room and contemplate her mistakes. Unfortunately, the fluid in her throat made talking impossible, even if her brain could come up with a valid excuse.

Michael had the urge to rush out the door the instant he had regained the ability to move. How could he be such an idiot to basically confess his feelings to Morgan? And in a way like that? She probably thought he was an idiot all around and never wanted to be around except when she was looking for a good laugh. That was all Michael was ever good for. There were quite a few Vampires in the clan that thought he was nothing more than a joke. It had been going on pretty much his whole life. Yes, Michael at this most important moment in his life, was reflecting on the fact that he had been teased as a child. People thought of him as a goofball. He had wanted to prove himself, prove that he was just as much a vampire as anyone else, and to a little kid…that meant biting someone.

The night it all happened was still clear in his memory. Michael didn’t think he would ever forget it. At the moment it was simply the thrill of what he was about to do. Later when he looked back on it, he wasn’t sure what to think. He felt bad either way because he had hurt someone he cared about deeply, but had he not bitten her, Michael would never have truly met her. Worst, she would be the enemy. Michael shook his head of these thoughts. There was no point in thinking about ‘what if’s’. Nothing was going to change the past. What happened, happened. All they could do was move forward.

The feel of Morgan’s hands on his face brought Michael out of his thoughts. He had instantly been worried that he missed everything she said. A brief memory recall confirmed that she hadn’t said anything. He was relieved to know that. It didn’t take too long for the motion of Morgan moving his face to face hers to cease, it probably didn’t even take a full second. But to Michael, he was enjoying every moment of it. The touch of her hand on his skin was so soft and it felt so nice that Michael felt himself begin to smile slightly. That was, until he saw her face. Instantly, this brought every happy feeling he had crashing down. Morgan was in pain. Not a physical one but something was definitely wrong. Michael wanted to look for whoever it was that had hurt his Morgan but knew that it would be pointless. He already knew the culprit, him.

The guilt he felt just simply looking at Morgan was enough for Michael to want to just walk out in broad sunlight. How could he have done this? How could he have done this to the one person that mattered most? His hands went to her sides, as if to hold should something happen, to protect her and shield her from anything else that dare try to hurt her further.

Her words telling him that he didn’t understand hurt but Michael wouldn’t let that distract him from protecting her. Okay, he understood. She didn’t like him the way he liked her. It wasn’t too hard to understand at all. The fact that she choked on her words was just causing him to become angry at himself. She didn’t deserve to feel like this simply because she didn’t want to hurt him. He was such a jackass. He wanted to tell her that she didn’t need to continue to try and spare his feelings. That was when her last sentence came out.

’Love?’ For a moment Michael was convinced he was dreaming or that he simply hadn’t heard her right again. Maybe he should start questioning his hearing abilities. Something inside of him just about smacked him in the head. Of course there was nothing wrong with his hearing. He heard Morgan correctly. She thought that she loved him. And trying to convince himself that it was merely brotherly love or simply the love of a friend for another wasn’t going to work. Michael didn’t have time to say anything after getting over the shock. The door to Morgan’s room flew open causing him to turn at the sound. ’Rameses? Seriously?’ Why did he come in now? Before anything could be explained, Rameses was gone and once again Michael was alone with Morgan. ’No backing down now. Time to suck it up and do it.’ Why should this be hard to admit to Morgan? It should be easy. Still there was a part of Michael that thought Morgan was going to smile and say ‘just kidding’.

Taking a deep breath, Michael looked Morgan in the eye…and found her crying. It didn’t fit the situation at all but Michael let out a soft chuckle. Why in the world was she crying? Gently lifting his hand, he softly wiped the tear from her cheek. ”Why are you crying? Am I that horrible of a person to love?” He paused a moment before smiling at her. ”Don’t answer that.” Joking around again helped calm Michael down. This was who he was. He only hoped that Morgan wouldn’t be insulted by it. ”I don’t know if anyone’s told you this yet but I’ve had a crush on you for quite some time.”

Looking down to study the lines on her bedspread, Morgan could feel more fluid begin to cloud her vision. For a girl that never cried, this was horribly embarrassing. Unfortunately, the worst part about crying was that once the waterworks started, they refused to stop until the source was depleted. Rusty gears, as Morgan jokingly called it. Distracted by the tears and her bedspread, Morgan was taken aback when she felt Michael’s hands curve around her waist. Mike was trying to hold her. Blinking down the tears, Morgan raised her head to lock eyes with Michael, who seemed genuinely concerned. ‘ I‘m so sorry for worrying you.’ Feeling guilt begin to crawl up from her stomach, Morgan closed her eyes when she felt Michael’s thumb wipe away a tear from her cheek.

Why are you crying? Am I that horrible of a person to love?”, There was her Michael. Trying so hard not to laugh because she felt trapped within the knot of her tender, breaking, emotions, a half-stifled sound bubbled up in her throat. A strangled laugh breaking through that soon became a proper laugh the second the words: “Don‘t answer that.” flooded into her ears. Unable to keep from smiling a bold little smile, Morgan nibbled on her lip and braved herself to open her eyes and lift her chin to look into Michael’s eyes once more. The conversation seeming to become a hint more serious now.

I don‘t know if anyone‘s told you this yet but I‘ve had a crush on you for quite some time.”, Feeling butterflies in her stomach beginning to flutter, Morgan bit down on her lip as her right hand lifted to peel her hair behind her ear again. Stunned that he finally admitted to having felt something more than friendship, Morgan wasn’t sure what to say to that information. She had her suspicions every so often; but, she hadn’t dared to really believe in them until he finally admitted it to her. ‘
What do I say to that?’ To be honest, every response she could come up with didn’t involve words. A blush rising to her face, Morgan tried to think up something appropriate to say that didn’t make her sound like an idiot.

No…I mean, no one told me anything…but…I had hoped…that you would…”, Blushing for having tripped over her own words, Morgan knew two things that could happen. There could be more blushing conversation until one of them developed the courage to do something small, or she could just do something small and talk afterwards. Swallowing the fluid in her throat, Morgan scooted beside Michael so that she could fold her arms around him and then moved her body so that she was sitting with her legs on her bed. Laying down, she tried to pull her…friend, down with her (but not on top of her). Hopefully beside Michael, Morgan found that she was ultimately too shy to find the courage to kiss his mouth, so she just squeezed her friend in her arms like old times and nuzzled her face against his chest. A more intimate version of the hug they always used to do. ‘ Well…if he really likes me, and I really like him back, then…what do we do now? I‘ve never had a boyfriend before…are we a couple?’ Morgan didn’t know what to do besides keep laying here secretly hiding from a kiss that they both probably wanted. Completely unaware that Rameses had locked the door from the outside so that they could talk undisturbed.

Michael couldn’t explain the feeling he got when Morgan started laughing. He just seemed to swell with happiness. Her laugh always seemed so magical to him. The act of simply hearing it always lifted his spirits. Ever admitting any of these feelings to anyone would probably get him laughed at. He even realized that he sounded like some bad romance novel. This was one of the many reasons he hadn’t said anything before to Morgan. He had been worried that he would say something cheesy and dorky and then Morgan would simply laugh at him.

Another thing that kept the smile on Michael’s face was Morgan actually answering his question. It had been more of a rhetorical question. He hadn’t exactly told anyone of his crush on Morgan. That was something he had to keep hidden. He knew the instant that he told anyone, Morgan would soon find out. That was just how it would have turned out. He was happy that it had worked out the way it had. Granted, it wasn’t the smoothest, but overall it wasn’t a horrible way for the two of them to find out their little secrets.

In the short time before Morgan took action, Michael began to panic. What do they do now? He had never really been interested in any girl besides Morgan and since he had known her, he knew that she had never been in a relationship like this. What if she was depending on him to know what to do? He instantly felt like a fool for being less than knowledgeable on this subject.

His panic was taken from him when Morgan started to pull him down. His thoughts instantly went to what she was doing and he forgot about his panic for a second. Lying down on the bed next to her, he simply smiled. When she nuzzled her way into a hug, Michael was more than happy to wrap his arms around her and simply hold her. The feeling he got from this was more than he could have hoped for. If he had the choice, Michael would be happy simply staying that way with Morgan. Grabbing the small amount of courage that he actually had, Michael leaned down and kissed Morgan’s head. It definitely wasn’t the traditional kiss that would probably happen around other people had the same events transpired, but Michael was happy with it.

[[Rumples, do you think now would be a good time to have the time skip happen or did you want to continue for a bit longer? I wouldn't want to cut you short if you had an idea.]]

If it was possible to be warmed by an embrace the way a human body felt physical affection, Morgan's entire body would have flushed at that little kiss on her forehead. True, it wasn't anything from some gushy movie; but, it was more suitable for them, and it was enough to make Morgan bury her face in Michael's chest. If only to hide the emotional fluster on her face. ' Its a good thing we aren't saying anything else...' Cause she would be stuttering. Blushing with her aura instead, Morgan just hugged her cherished friend to her body like a clinging child. Holding him tenderly for a few minutes before a strange sound made Morgan turn her attention towards the door. The noise, was the click of the door being unlocked. ' Rameses...' Morgan pouted; realizing their little moment was probably over. At least, she was far too shy to contemplate doing anything else. Michael had broken the ice, and they were going to be alive for a very long time, so there was no reason to rush anything between them. They started off as strangers and slowly warmed up to being friends, and Morgan imagined their romance would blossom the same way.

    ~

A fortnight later, Morgan and Michael were out walking in the forest. Contrary to popular belief, the 'couple' wasn't on a romantic stroll. Nay, they were scouting the vampire territory, checking for the scents of humans or warewolves along the border line. It was a rather tedious task; but, it had to be done. Their safety depended upon it, and Morgan knew better than to argue with him. However, there was always a silver lining to any situation. Michael had been allowed to scout the land with her, (Rameses had insisted), and being near her...boyfriend, was a bright spot on her evening. Even if they had barely tried anything different than their prior relationship besides shyly holding hands. Still adjusting to their relationship, Morgan had yet to even try and hold his hand tonight. She was now 'seemingly' too preoccupied with the task at hand to pull her hands out of her pockets.

    "
Do you...notice anything out of place?", Shy as a housecat, Morgan looked up from the forest floor to pin her eyes upon Michael's face. Unable to hide the inevitable blush, Morgan could only smile as if she as wasn't embarrassed as she was. After all, by now, he had seen her blush enough times for it not to be a new occurance.

Michael looked around the perimeter of their land. There wasn’t anything that gave off any sign of danger and that was a good thing. He knew it was important to keep watch. The last thing they wanted would be for the enemy to find their home and attack sometime in the day when they would be defenseless. He never wanted to think that anyone would stoop that low but he had seen some horrible things that the werewolves did. He couldn’t let anything go past them. They might try anything to win this war.

Every so often, Michael found his eyes traveling over to Morgan. He still couldn’t believe that it had been two weeks already since he found out that she returned his feelings for her. He never got up the courage to ask Rameses about his little appearance that night and he figured that he would never know the actual reason. Things were moving slow, yes, but Michael was perfectly fine with that. In a way, it suited the two of them to take it slow. They had an amazing friendship and slowly easing into something more seemed like a good way to still keep their friendship safe.

Michael had his own reasons for being glad they were going slow. One was that he knew once they started to get more serious, he wouldn’t be able to keep secrets from her. And at the moment he had a big one. Michael was still nervous about talking to Rameses about it. What if he thought Michael was horrible for doing what he did? Still, getting advice from their leader was the best thing he could think of. The more time he had, however, the better.

Michael turned to face Morgan when she spoke. ”I haven’t seen anything yet. You?” He couldn’t help but wonder how much longer they would have to be out here. Surely Rameses couldn’t expect them to stay out there all night. One thing Michael wanted to do was check up on Arraine. She seemed to be adjusting to living with them nicely. He liked being able to be a friend for her. He also felt a little responsible for her considering he was the one that found her.

User Image Selena felt like a caged animal. She was itching to just go out for a run. How was this different than any other day? Simple. It wasn’t. She felt like this every day and that was the problem. She hated feeling trapped inside her own house. Her brother hadn’t been home for two days because her father had sent him off on a mission. Did he send her? No. The bitterness she was feeling on being left behind was plain to anyone who crossed her path. It was mostly insulting to think that her dad didn’t trust her with any of the missions. She wasn’t too young. Her brother had been doing missions when he was about two years younger than she was now. She couldn’t only assume that her father was being sexist.

Looking out of the window, Selena saw the moon rise. There were only a few more days till the full moon. Four to be precise. At least when it was full her father couldn’t keep her inside. She would be able to run around with the others in full wolf form. Could she wait the entire four days? It seemed like a daunting task. Four days seemed like months from now. Selena was even thinking about maybe going for a run without speaking with her father. She could be back before he even realized she was missing. Of course, that could have consequences if he found out.

The idea of speaking with her mother was appealing. Her mother seemed to be the only one that could change her father’s mind. Maybe if she simply talked to her mother and showed her how she felt then her mother would make her dad change his mind. Now Selena finally found herself wishing to see her mother cross her path.

It’s been two weeks, since his encounter with Angela, but for some reason, it still haunts Mitch’s thoughts. The way she acted when she saw him, and then the way he just left like that. Everything she said was true. He was a traitor, he did turn his back on what he used to fight for, but everything he said was also true. The werewolves are fighting just as much as the humans are, and it’s not easy on them either. They were fighting the same fight, for the same reasons, just on opposite sides. If they all, even the vampires, just realized this, then maybe this war will end. If instead of trying to kill each other, they all got to see what it was like in each other’s shoes, then they would see just how much alike they all are.

Mitch didn’t feel like a traitor. Yes he did turn his back on his old life, his human friends, and his original alliance, but it’s not like he is fighting against them. He isn’t going off and killing or hurting any of his fellow hunters. Instead, he is neutral territory. He fights for no one. As far as he knows, he is the only one who has ever lived in two different lives before. Sure there were humans that turned into vampires and werewolves, but for them it was more involuntary. They didn’t have a mission like he did, and they didn’t see things the way he does. From his time with the werewolves, he has seen the struggles they go through and feels for them. If I was turned into a vampire, I bet I would still feel the same.

Maybe Mitch is the key to ending the war, but that was unlikely. This war has been going on for centuries, and it will take more than one person to end it. It would be more likely that he dies just for trying. With Angela on his mind, Mitch walked through the halls of the house that Devin’s family lived in. He was kind enough to accept him despite who he was before, and let him live with them. At first Mitch was hesitant, not sure it was a trap, but then he warmed up to the idea. After all, it was his mission to spy on them. There most likely aren’t many people in the house this time of night. Everyone would be out in the night trying to get some fresh air before the morning.

Mitch was about to head out himself to get a run in before the sun rose, when he came across Selena wandering the halls. She was always stuck inside, even during the night, because of Devin’s orders. Mitch could tell that he was just trying to keep her safe, but keeping her locked up like this wasn’t good for her. Mitch could see her longing for going outside and running through the forest, and he could see her jealousy when her father would let her brother go on missions, but not her. He felt bad for her, but also kept his distance. He could tell Selena didn’t like him very much, so he stayed away from her. Tonight was different though, so he walked over to her. “It’s a beautiful night for a run. You should come with me.”

He knew her father would most likely forbid it, but maybe if she wasn’t alone, he would agree. After his confrontation with Angela, Mitch felt the need to tell Devin about it. He told him that she asked him to come back, and that he refused. By telling him, Mitch hoped it would gain more trust from Devin. What Mitch neglected to tell him was that he was now probably the most wanted werewolf out there. “Maybe if you tell your father that I would accompany you, he would be more lenient. Of course, it is up to you whether you want to come or not.” Mitch figured she’d do anything to go out, but there was also the chance that she didn’t trust him enough to be alone with him.

User ImageSelena couldn’t help but just stare at the moon. It was so beautiful the way it just stood out against the night sky. It was only slightly less than a perfect circle at the moment. So close to being completely full. To be cooped up on a night like this was criminal. That would be what she would tell her father. Only problem is that he would dismiss her accusation as being overly dramatic. Maybe it was and maybe it wasn’t. All Selena knew was that she was starting to go insane. Pacing would only make matters worse but her legs still twitched to do just the thing.

Hearing footsteps behind her, Selena was about to turn to see for herself who was approaching when they spoke. Mitch. His voice stood out to her even though he hadn’t been with them for a long amount of time. Mitch, the ex-hunter. Since day one, Selena hadn’t trusted this guy. She was surprised that her father actually allowed him to stay. He should have torn Mitch’s throat out. Nothing had gone wrong since Mitch had arrived but still, Selena felt uneasy. One of the reason was simply that Selena had seen Mitch in action when he was a hunter.

Her older brother was sympathetic to Selena being cooped up. He would often sneak her out while their father had his back turned. On one particular occasion, they came across Mitch and another hunter. Mitch would remember any of this, she was fairly certain. They had been in their wolf forms. The other hunter and Mitch had attacked them. They got away but not without some wounds. That was probably when her father started to become as strict as he was with her. Selena’s brother had also been punished for endangering the two of them.

Hearing Mitch’s proposition, Selena had mixed feelings about. On one hand, she wanted to laugh at him at the very idea of going anywhere with him. On the other hand, any excuse to get out of the house, Selena would jump at the chance. Her suspicious eyes looked him over briefly and then once out the window. Letting out a little sigh, she turned to him. ”Alright, I’ll take you up on that offer. But I’m not going to give my father the chance to say no.” Grabbing his hand she started to lead out of the house. The faster they could get away without her father seeing, the better. She wasn’t too worried about being alone with Mitch. She was pretty confident that she could handle herself against him. He was a new werewolf after all and probably didn’t have totally control over anything. Definitely no match for someone who had been training since the age of five.

After a ways out, Selena stopped and turned toward Mitch. ”Why would you even offer to help me out? We don’t like each other.” She was curious and determined to hear his answer.

I don't want to change the world ~ I just want to leave it colder

User ImageIn the two weeks since she had last seen Mitch, Angela had kept herself busy. It was getting to a point where she refused to allow herself to think anything of Mitch. So far, it was working out well… at least, to her standards. When Angela was upset about something, she pushed herself into her work. Her way of thinking was that if she could keep her mind off of her upsetting thoughts, then the day would come where she could forget about them completely. Next time she saw Mitch, Angela was determined to think of him only as what he was, a monster.

Lucky for her, Rookery had been keeping both herself and Ted busy with a new assignment. They would need to capture a vampire and a werewolf, keep them alive and bring them back to the base. The problem was that they had to find a specific vampire and a specific werewolf. Rookery had given them a profile for each. Angela wasn’t sure exactly how he had gotten this information but there was no use asking. Any time she tired he would simply dismiss it and tell her that it was a need-to-know bases. Angela didn’t care too much in the end. It just gave her more work.

Having Ted by her side helped as well. He was a good friend she could talk to. Not that she talked to him much about anything besides work-related items. The only other thing in her life besides work had been Mitch and that topic was forbidden at the moment. He didn’t seem to mind this, at least, Angela didn’t notice anything that would prove otherwise. She might not admit it, but Angela was grateful for how her friend stuck by her.

Once night had fallen, Angela was up and ready to go out in search for one of their targets. All their supplies were already packed. The only thing Angela needed before heading out was her partner, Ted. Going to his quarters, she knocked on his door. ”Ted, hurry up. We need to get started.”

[[hope this is okay with you, Katelyn. If you would like me to change anything, let me know.]]
