@ amburger and fries: Thats soo pretty !! I love how you did the colouring of that drawing!!!! You take illustration? is that your major in school?
@ Om: I think your off to a good start : ) the posing is nice and I love the hair hehe. Hmmm for helpfull critics I would say that his hand that on the rock, the nuckles/fingures are to straight, if you put your hand in the same position as his you'll notice that there little variation in the length for each fingure. Another thing I would point out for the colourig is most of your colours seem a little uniform, as in all the same colour just lighter or darker versions of them. I would suggest trying to add some more colours in the skin, cloths and even hair, even if its just a little, to add more dynamic colours to your image : ) I can't wait to see the final version ^o^ !!!
@Inferno: I think your sketch is very lovely : ) If you have difficulty drawing fur maybe try clumping the fur up more then drawing individual strands. what do you think?

Ty Kai! : 3 Do you have any specific examples of color you think would go good with each..? With the hair I was considering making the ends of a few strands a dirty blodish color since someone with dreads that color growing out that long would have been bleached some by the sun (accourding to my fiance, and he's the only person I know who's had dreads). Other than that, I considered trying to make his shorts somewhat camo... but your suggestions really help! I'd really love to hear what you think. * u *b

Just to give it a more rich colour variation to it. but still soft to not take away from the brown hair. Yellow strands in the hair would go well as well. In the pants I would try putting som soft dark blue taints in it. To contrast with the skin and hair with cool colours, but still keep your colours dark enough so that we can feel the volumes. And the skin I would add a veriaty of colours in a new layer, and then play around with the opacity of your laters. Add some cold colours in the shaded sections and some warm colours in the lighted areas. And then bring down the opacity of your layer, and have the colours kinda merge lightly into the base colours.

Awesome, awesome. Thanks so much for taking the time to explain in greater detail, it'll really come in handy and I just love it! <3 While waiting, though, I began working on that background because I was thinking of submitting this into this month's contest... Right now I am in a bit of pain. ; v ; I may try to play with some of the things you mentioned and even update this picture if I think I'm able to really grasp it and take it places, but so far... I'm almost satisfied with calling this done. At least for now. I NEED a break, ahhaaa... But here's what I've done; latest updated version: If I submit this to the contest topic and do end up updating even more with your suggestions, can I repost with the new vamped up version later? I just want to know I have something up for now.

Hey!!! what a difference the background makes : D !!! it really closes in our attention more on the character!!! good thinking!!!!
As for submitting in the contest, yes you can re-update it as much as you want, up until midnight of jan 31st 2011 3nodding I'd just ask that if you do repost, to replace the old image with the new one. Cause I'll be taging posts with page numbers so that the guild captain can see the images quickly

This little thing didn't take as long as the others. I was honestly bored and wanted to try to play with the lighting of this pic. Tell me whatcha think? Also, say I spent more time on the actual sketch itself (I just colored an old sketch I'd done of one of my privious avi's) how much do you think I could sell simple little things like this for if I started a short-term, temp shop?
