Hazel did let out a happy and playful giggle as she dodged the majority of the splash with a bounding leap to the side. “The only thing out here that seems to be trying to get me is you,” she teased, dancing back to the river bank and dipping her own paw in the water to send a retaliatory splash right back at Tokala, black eyes glittering with even more laughter as she giggled again.
She did feel like she had an unfair advantage, her only having to carry a rabbit while Tokala had an entire adult doe with him, but if he wanted to start a water war then that was his fault! Her tail wagged while she waited to see what he might do next; she couldn’t remember having this much fun, really, for a long time. It wasn’t like she avoiding others, not really, but it seemed like she never ran into anyone either.

She didn't! His mouth open as the water hit him. He looked at Hazel and her giggling eyes. Should he play like he got something in his eye?
He dropped his ears down, yipping in fake pain and pawing at his eye. "It hurts! Something is in my eye!!!"
Tokala dropped to the ground, doing his best to make it look like he was trying to get the item out of his eye. Really he was just waiting to see how close Hazel would get.

Hazel instantly started freaking out. “Oh my gosh, are you okay,” she fussed, going from playful to guilt-ridden in that one sentence, eyes full of concern and ears dropping with guilt. She took several steps closer, dancing with indecision. Should she get closer and try to help, or would she just get in the way and make things worse.
“I’m sorry, I’m really sorry,” she said, ears drooping until they were practically hanging and her head bowed like she expecated Tokala to turn around and lash at her. “I didn’t mean to get anything in your eye, I thought it was just water with nothing in it. Are you going to be okay? Do you need any help or something?”
Hazel danced anxiously in place, taking just a couple more steps forward and standing there a little awkwardly. It wasn’t like she could wipe something out of a person’s eye, but she still wished she could help somehow.

It was working, she really thought he was hurt! Keeping his head down, Tokala continued to cry in pain. "I should be fine." A glance at her from under his paws made him feel bad. Her body language told him to end it. As she stepped closer, the blue/green fox jumped up and tackled her. "Gotcha!" His eyes shining with mirth.

Hazel let out a little squeak and lay there for a moment in stunned surprise, then suddenly wiggled around and gave Tokala a n** on his muzzle. A bit harder than she normally would have done, but then again the male had just tricked her into thinking he was hurt so it was totally warranted in her mind.
“Meanie,” she exclaimed, struggling free of the tangle of limbs (with a little whack of her tail for good measure) and straightening up. She gave Tokala a pitiful look with her giant black eyes. “I thought you were really hurt and that it was my fault! That was totally a mean trick to pull.
She was sure he’d meant no harm in his trip, and that was the only reason why Hazel hadn’t just stormed off. Not that she had a huge amount of personal experience to draw upon or anything, but she’d often heard that men did things they thought was hilarious and women often didn’t see the joke.
