I've flown a million miles just to find a magic seed A white flower with the power to bring life to me You're so exotic my whole body fluttering Constantly craving for a taste of your sticky sweet
Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina had let her mind drift from one random subject to another. Right now she was thinking about how she could improve the aloe vera plant. Maybe she could tweak it, make it better suited to helping with burns and minor cuts. Possibly have it help heal cuts quicker. That would be quite helpful in many a situation.
Lina's train of thought had been interrupted when she heard a sudden splash and what sounded like something swimming. A few moment's later, she heard Ryul swear. It had been Kowe. She didn't know exactly what had happened, but she laughed quietly to herself. She could only imagine what had happened. Before too long, she heard the swimming of Kowe go past her, and he probably went ashore. Though, she could still hear swimming. She figured it was Ryul returning.
Sure enough, before too long, she heard his voice nearby. Lina sat up and looked at him. "I'm fine...I have aloe in my greenhouse..." Then she examined him, her eyes focusing after being closed for awhile. "Ryul...are those cuts on your chest?" She asked curiously. That's certainly what they looked like. Maybe what the ruckus had been about was Kowe jumping on Ryul. If that was the case, it was a definite possibility that Kowe accidentally scratched Ryul as he pounced on him, or as he swam away. She looked at him with a concerned gaze. Lina hoped he wasn't hurt. Being male, he'd probably just shrug it off, though. Name: Jack Welston Allignment: Steamer Tier: Undercity
Character:
Jack loooked back to see if the Professor was chasing them, but instead saw Mit, struggling with her gun. "Here, let me take that." Jack too the gun off Mit's shoulders and carried it. "Sorry about that. You came a long way and by the sound of your yelling, it seemed like I had you worried." Jack teased. "I'll explain it all when we are at my house. Too many trackers are around." Jack holds Mit's hand. "Don't let go of my hand. It's already enough to get lost here, and the crowd just makes it worse." Jack quickly looked around to see where everyone was going, but it seemed as though it was in a different part of the Undercity. There's still such a big crowd... He kept walking through the crowd, and finally finds the alley. He pulls Mit and himself into the alley. "It's unusually crowded today... I wonder what's up."

❝Shadow Flame❞  ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul smirked. "What don't you have in that greenhouse?" he said, smirking. Then she mentioned the cuts on his chest. He was confused for a moment. What cuts? He looked down at his chest. Sure enough there were slices where Kowe had landed on him. He hadn't even noticed them. He raised a hand to the cuts. They were bleeding a bit. "Huh. I guess they are," he said. "Damn wolf." He looked up to see her concerned look. "Why do you look so worried? They're just cuts," he said. He turned to look at where Kowe was now laying on the grass and sighed. "Sometimes I wonder if he's secretly trying to kill me," he said, attempting a smile. It didn't quite reach his eyes. He turned to look at Lina again.  {{Sorry for the short post. Writer's Block. sweatdrop }}

Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina rolled her eyes at him. She was planning on building another one soon. One would be for cold tempered plants, the other for warm. That way she could grow year round inside her little greenhouses. However, she was concerned as he noticed the cuts on his chest.
They didn't look too deep, but still. She was going to worry. "I don't think he's secretly trying to kill you..." She stated simply, sliding off the rock and back into the water. She, too, took a glance back at Kowe. "Animals don't tend to realize they hurt the ones they love. They just think that they are as durable as they are..." She added before turning back to look at him. She had been right though, he did just shrug his injuries off.
"If they get to bothering you too much, I can make a salve to help them heal better, faster..." Lina offered. She wasn't sure if he'd take her up on that, but she felt better just putting the offer out there. After all, he was her friend, she'd help him in any way she could. That's what friends did.
"So, what were you thinking about out there? I know it wasn't about getting sneak attacked by Kowe..." She said the last part teasingly. Lina was curious as to why he had to go off. But, if he said he didn't want to talk about it, she wouldn't press the issue. That's the way she worked. Maybe she could help him out with his thoughts, get a new perspective on them. Plus, it would get her mind off of plants again. . ❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul smirked. "I think he knows exactly what he's doing," he said jokingly. He glanced down at the cuts again. "They're fine for now. I haven't started whining yet have I?" he joked. When she asked what he was thinking about, he hesitated. He knew she was curious, but he couldn't tell her what he was thinking. As far as he knew, she thought of him as just a friend. If he told her what he'd been thinking about, there was a chance it could ruin their friendship. He didn't want that to happen. She was the only one he could relax around. If he ruined their friendship, he's be alone again. If she left, he'd go back to the cold-hearted man he was before. He attempted another smile. "Just thinking about the past," he said. It was true enough. He'd been thinking about the effect she had on him and the way he was before she came along.

Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina shook her head at him. "Men..." She said simply. It seemed they all shrugged off injuries. They could be missing an arm and they'd be all like 'Oh, it's just a scratch..'. Of course she joked like this around him on a regular basis. So he'd know she wasn't serious. "Hey, at least I didn't offer to 'kiss it and make it feel better...'" She pointed out, making herself float in the water.
Floating like a lily pad, that's what she was doing as she listened to his response to her question. "Wow...that was real specific..." She stated sarcastically. "If you want to be vague like that, I won't press it...But I'm a big girl, I can handle the truth..." She stated, looking up at the sky. Ultimately it was up to him on whether or not he explained further. After a while, she'd forget about it, and not think about it again.
After a few minutes, she had drifted out to the deeper part of the lake. Lina only realized that after she went to stand up, and she couldn't feel anything but water beneath her. To top it off, she couldn't even see the bottom. Uh oh. There went the little panic within her head. Crap. Now she had to try and calm herself down mentally so she could actually get to shore. As it was, she did her best to make herself float once again. . ❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul was quiet as he followed her out. When he could no longer feel the ground, he started kicking his legs rhythmically. He noticed her slightly panicked look. It was subtle. She was doing a good job at trying to hide it. He swam over to her and grabbed her. He slid one arm under her legs and had the other arm supporting her upper body. "Calm down," he said. "Do you trust me?" he asked with a slight smile. He kept the two of them afloat.

Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina blushed as he wrapped his arms under her legs and around her upper body, almost cradle holding her, making sure she stayed afloat. It embarrassed her that he had to come to her aid. Of course he knew of her little phobia, but still. Lina did her best to calm down once he had a hold of her. She took deep breaths to try and ensure that it happened, but she wasn't so sure it would work.
Then came a question. One he shouldn't have had to ask. Lina bit her lip barely before answering. "Of course I do...don't you already know that?" She answered in another question for him. She felt bad that he had to ask that question. That she hadn't shown him enough that she indeed trusted him. The calming down thing had been beginning to work, but it stopped as soon as she realized that there was nothing holding him up to hold her up.
Lina took her arms and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. She also buried her head into the crook of his neck, closing her eyes. She'd be able to feel when he could touch the bottom through the vibrations. Only then would she feel better. She didn't know exactly why she had this silly fear about deep water, but it was there. It was something she was embarrassed about. Something she wasn't sure she could change. . ❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul laughed when she wrapped her arms around his neck. He angled his legs so that when he kicked his legs, he'd take them closer to shore. He knew that she trusted him, but hearing her say it made him feel good. A few minutes later, his feet touched the ground. He backed up some more until she was half out of the water before he stopped walking. "There, now, that wasn't too bad right?" he asked, smiling. He didn't let her go, waiting for her to unwrap her arms from his neck. He could feel her breath hot on his neck. It sent a slight shiver down his spine. He hoped that she didn't notice that, but knew that she would. She could feel vibrations like he could feel the pulse of fire. Most people didn't think too much about fire and thought it was just a destructive element. Whenever he handled fire, he could feel the pulse of it, like it had a heart. He hoped she didn't put too much thought into his slight shiver. He wasn't sure he wanted to explain what he was thinking to her.

Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina was a bit frustrated that he laughed at her, but she shrugged it off. She wouldn't truly be focused on anything but the depth of the water until she felt his feet hit ground. She felt stupid that something like that bugged her so much. She didn't know if she'd ever get over it. She breathed a sigh of relief when she felt his feet begin to walk rather than swim under the water.
Lina pulled her head away from the crook of his neck, not willing to let go just yet. However, that wasn't before she felt a shiver pass through him. "Are you cold?" She asked instinctively. That was usually the reason why she shivered, so it made sense to her. The water was quite cold compared to the sun's warmth. She didn't even register his question until her mind replayed it in her head. "Umm...no, it wasn't too bad..." She stated, referring more to Ryul carrying her than the actual trip out of the deep water.
Wait? Why would he be cold? He could control fire, a hot element. Even as their skin was touching, she could feel that he wasn't truly cold. Warmer than her. She opened her mouth to make a statement pointing that out. But something stopped her mentally. She thought about it a minute. Could it have been her that made him shiver? She blushed slightly at the thought. No, why would he shiver because of her? He didn't like her in that way, right? . ❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ She didn't let go of his neck, and he didn't let her go either. She asked if he was cold. She had felt his shiver then. How could he explain that? He couldn't say that he was cold, since she'd call him out on the lie. With them touching as they were, it would be too obvious of a lie. He couldn't exactly tell her that feeling her breath on him had caused it either. The only real solution he could see was to just not answer, but he'd been avoiding her questions all afternoon. Not to mention the fact that he was being abnormally quiet. His eyes showed his uncertainty. He should have known that it would get to this point eventually. She was one of the very few people he really cared about. The only one he could trust. The only one who had been able to change the way he used to be. He knew he couldn't tell her the truth. He wouldn't let himself ruin this friendship.
His expression lightened and his eyes no longer showed uncertainty. He was good at hiding how he felt. He could have been feeling his worst and no one would know. "What do you expect? Your breath was cold on my neck," he said with a light chuckle. He wouldn't let her know what he was thinking. He couldn't.

.:Mit:. Steamer Mit huffed. Yeah, long way indeed... she thought sarcastically. She blushed a little as Jack took her gun from her, and held her hand to lead her through the thick crowd. Of course I was worried! I mean, it's not like you're my friend or anything... The two Steamers ducked into an alleyway to escape the crowds, and Mit leaned against the dirty wall, panting heavily. Running wasn't healthy for her, not after carrying the heavy gun around. Although it had become considerably easier once Jack had stepped in to assist her, it still took a toll on her. Mit looked up as Jack voiced his comment about this mysterious event that seemed to be drawing everyone out of their homes. "Yeah, I noticed that, too." she squeaked, inwardly cursing her girly voice. "It was such a hassle to get to your factory from the Terminal... man, you're lucky I like you so much, Jack. I wouldn't have gone through that for anyone in a million years... except for Junebug, but she's a robot." She looked outside the alley and saw the swarming multitudes of people around her. She turned over her shoulder. "So... what do we do now?"
~ Who am I? I can't decide which way to run... ~

I've flown a million miles just to find a magic seed A white flower with the power to bring life to me You're so exotic my whole body fluttering Constantly craving for a taste of your sticky sweet
Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina thought about it for a minute, while he remained quiet. Would it be a bad thing if he liked her as more than friends? 'No' The little voice in her head replied. The blush on her face reflected that answer. It wasn't like she always saw him as just a friend. When they first met, Lina had found him quite attractive, even if it seemed he was a bit distant with others. She knew how he could be.
However, since it had seemed that all he was interested in was a friendship, she ignored any defying feelings about that. Anything that she felt that suggested more. It had been the best thing. She'd rather have him in her life as a friend than not at all. He answered her question, and she raised her eyebrows. Her breath was cold on his neck?
"The only way possible that my breath would have been cool on your neck was if I was mouth breathing, and trying to make my breath cold. That my dear friend, did not happen...." Lina stated, calling him out on his lie. Why did he have to cover up something as little as a shiver? It hurt her a little, and it also confused her.
Lina bit her lip. Why did he have to be so frustrating at times?. Maybe there was a way to see if the reason why he was being so shady was her. She pulled herself up, using her arms that were still around his neck, and kissed him on the cheek. Her lips lingered on his skin a moment before she removed them. "Thank you..." She said, referring to him 'rescuing' her from the deep water. ❝Shadow Flame❞ ◢Яyul Șamison◤ Ryul sighed when she called him out. He figured she wouldn't be fooled that easily, but it was worth a shot. He blushed lightly when she kissed him and he hated himself for it. Why did he have to react like that? He frowned for a moment, then put on a smile for her. "Anytime," he said. He kicked himself internally for blushing. Though it was hardly his fault. He guessed that she hadn't done that just to thank him. The fact that her lips had lingered there for a moment told him that she was looking for a result of some sort. He resisted the urge to glare at her for it. She wanted a result and she'd gotten it. He didn't say anything for a moment, trying to decide what to do. He didn't want to ruin their friendship, but he could hardly hide how he felt, not now that he had reacted so obviously to her kiss. He didn't know what to do. Take the risk on their friendship or play it safe? He sighed and looked at her, unsure. He leaned over to gently kiss her on her cheek, much like she'd done to him. He didn't linger like she did. He pulled back after a second and looked at her, gauging her reaction.

Melina Nadine Larkspur Lina spotted the blush that came to Ryul's cheeks after her lips had left them. It was actually a shock to her. She hadn't really been expecting him to react at all. However, it did reaffirm her suspicions about earlier, just a bit though. She wasn't too sure on how he'd react further. Feeling a bit stupid, Lina was about to unwrap her arms from around him.
However, that plan changed as he leaned towards her and kissed her quickly on the cheek, which instantly flushed a bright crimson. Was he just returning the gesture, just to be nice. Or, was it to show that he liked her as more than a friend? Oh, snap! Lina didn't know. Quick, what should she do? Agh! " I'm sorry if Iseeemabit forward..." She said quickly, jumbling some of her words together. That caused her to blush even more.
Now she was just stuck there in his arms. Maybe she should move herself away from him. Lina quickly swung her legs out of his grasp and fully into the water. A moment later, she removed her arms from around his neck, taking a step back. "I'm so sorry...I know you probably only think of me as a friend, and I don't want to jeopardize our friendship by being all crazy like this...So I'm just gonna go back to my greenhouse and hope you forget all about this..." She said quickly, except making sure she was making her words clear.
With that, Lina turned and started trying to make her way quickly back to shore. It was sort of difficult though, with the water slowing her down. She was sure that the redness of her cheeks wouldn't disappear anytime soon. Great.
