Seeing nothing dangerous besides, well, the sparking robot, Julian flew back up, not out of the hole, but just high enough to be heard over the sounds above when he called out. It was a loud, neutral-sounding screech followed by a series of twitters. Hopefully Tahki, or anyone for that matter, would get that as an okay sign. At least there wasn't any danger down here, not yet anyways.

But there was no way out, none that he could see. He flapped back down, eyes narrowing as he tried to make out the walls. Upstairs there was a door, but they couldn't get out. There was a hole in the roof, but even he was too big to risk it, in either form. They could try putting the fire out with the snow, but he couldn't help with that, either. And the best way to put it out was to smother it, anyways.

What were they going to do?

With the yellow robot suffering more damage than his fellow Halloween Town denizens, the monster horse thought the battle was going very well. If it just weren't for the pesky fire (which he thought would be dealt with once the mechanical menace was rendered defunct), he might even have thought they were well on their way to victory. His attention was divided between the robot, and keeping out of the way of the gryphon and undead ghoul who were dive-bombing to gather weapons. And of course every now and again he checked back on Amrita, as well as spotting the canine-and-now-humanoid-ghoul, and the boil with another snowball cannon near her. Good, she was alright, despite the fire.

As he breathed a sigh of relief, it happened.

There was an explosion by the Eastern wall. Petro did not see who or what could have caused it, having been too focused on other things, but the resulting blast caused many things to happen in a very short span of time. The roof caved in, and he found his hooved feet clattering noisily backwards, out of the way of falling debris and snow. Just in time it seemed, because the floor near the robot suddenly gave way, taking the mechanical construct down into a dark hole.

He still held his weapon, though he was leaning on it as if it were some sort of bulky cane, and would have moved to investigate when the high keening from the canine-ghoul and Amrita all but tore at his hearing. Equine ears pressed flat against his head, trying in vain to block out the painful sound. It didn't work, thankfully, because otherwise he would have missed the call for help. Then the winged boil swooped down into the void, which made Petro do a double-take before his attention was once again drawn back by Amrita.

Now Petro would have been torn on what to do, but too much happened in too short a time so coherent thought went out the window and instincts kicked in. And his instincts were telling him that someone was in need of help and it was coming from the Western wall rather than the hole the boil disappeared into. Still carrying the cannon (as well as his other things), the horse monster charged towards the screams.

Hooves pounded against the floor, and when brown eyes spotted the burning piece of debris in front of the crying vetala, he disregarded the fact it was just slightly larger than a casketball. Even if the size wouldn't normally warrant the kind of reaction the undead ghoul was making, it was still upsetting the small ghoul (probably because it was on fire) and that just wouldn't do! Without breaking his stride, he kicked the offending piece of rubble as far away from Amrita as possible. It wouldn't hit anyone else. Probably.

"You hurt?" he asked, Amrita mostly. It eventually occurred to Petro to extend this concern to the boil with the cannon then the other ghoul who was... was she trying to bury herself in the snow? Ears suddenly flicked at the sound of twittering, it didn't sound particularly alarmed but the roar of the fire was a stronger contender for his attention.

Maybe they needed to pile on more snow? He hefted his canon back onto his shoulder, aimed at the fire, but stayed his hand on pulling the trigger, "Hold our ground or down the hole?" he asked.

((ooc: I asked Enoh if the burning piece of rubble size is okay and she says yes.))

Screams caught the earwings of Israfel and one of them bugged out his bright blue eyes. Amrita. Too far to get to her, the siren's own concern become his own safety. His and Lucien's. Unable to tho think of what to do, Israfel looked to the gnomes. They were from the school right. They were natural born survivors right? They had to be to deal with Miss Hellma after all.

The only gnome present was the gnome who had started the fire in the first place. Finding him was a bit of a trouble until one realized that the chubby lamp over there was just a gnome wearing a lampshade and doing a piss-poor job of acting like an inanimate object, what with the smoke curling from its head.

"D-don't look at me!" It squeaked, flailing as soon as it was looked at, "You kids are on your own!"

There was another slew of curses from the skinwalker as the fire raged onward, engulfing all the snow he had launched as if it were a tasty snack, even going as far as to burn faster than it had been before. And to make matters worse, Nuk had watched in slow motion as Israfel threw his flask into the flame, knowing even before it had hit the explosion that would result -- he was not oblivious to the makings of a molotav cocktail. Having only half a second to raise his arm to his face, he hissed as it exploded, bracing himself as glass and wood began to shatter, feeling a few pieces of debris grace by his body, cutting superficially at his skin. But that was not all. The cracking of wood continued even after the explosion had sounded, prompting him to lower his hand out of curiosity, staring blankly as the roof started to collapse, crashing into the top of the robot.

As quickly as it had come, the robot was gone, crashing through the floor into the darkness beneath.

For a good long while, Nuk just stood there staring at the gaping hole that had resulted, momentarily oblivious of the fire that was crackling merrily. What the jacking s**t. Just like that, the game had changed, and frankly, he didn't like it. He would have preferred a battle to the raging inferno that was threatening consume him, and he couldn't help but scowl angrily at the hole, as if it was all the robot's fault. Of course, he knew that even if the robot hadn't fallen through the floor the fire would still be there, still about to engulf them, and that he should be thankful to the siren. Still, he'd only been in one fight besides this one in this whole trip, and the skinwalker was feeling kind of antsy -- he wanted to pound the living JOY out of something!

It was only after a good few minutes of angry staring at the skinwalker finally looked away, jerking his head in the direction of the chaos that had begun to ensue, eyebrows furrowed. Shehk had gone batshit, clearly past panicked as she dove into the pile of snow that had fallen through the hole in the ceiling, her terrified wailing still filling the air. Amrita, a ghoul he was only briefly familiar with, was screaming much like Shehk was now, and he didn't fail to note that the common factor was their undead quality. Israfel seemed to need more guidance, seemingly looking towards the door where the gnomes were likely waiting outside (the helpful little buggers.) The only one who seemed at all calm was the horse-monster, Nuk watching as he tried to comfort Amrita, kicking away a burning piece of rubble (he also didn't fail to notice the snow-bazooka that he held also, approving greatly.) The little owl-kid he had fought in battle of the bands had abandoned ship, and he scowled harder at him -- way to abandon the team.

But first thing was first -- he needed to calm down Shehk, although he knew it was probably fruitless with the fire around. Crossing the distance between him and the snowpile in a few large strides, he reached into the snow to grab the Pricolici out of snow and pull her into a standing position, throwing the strap of his weapon over his shoulder and holding her in both arms, aiming to both protect her and still her likely-thrashing form. Glancing over at Petro, he nodded his head towards the two by the wall, getting in on the discussion. "Well we can't stay here," He growled, trying to keep the Pricolici from hurting herself, or hurting him for that matter, "Unless we like our skin extra crispy."

Personally, he didn't really like the idea of falling through the floor again. He'd done that once -- the tile floor in the Other bathroom had crumbled beneath his feet as he'd tried to rescue Shehk and had gotten lost for hours in the labyrinth beneath the school. Needless to say he didn't particularly want to do that again. This wasn't Halloweentown, and it wasn't the school -- if they got lost, no one would know where to look... hell, were they even sure someone WOULD look? They had declared war on Christmastown, had tried to raid Sandy Claws' workshop! Would Hellma send out search parties? And draw attention to herself?! Hell no! When their crispy and/or hopelessly-lost and lifeless bodies were found, she'd claim they were just a bunch of hoodlums who had gotten some crazy notion of fame and glory in their head! He knew how cheats thought!

Glancing back down at the hole, Nuk scowled, baring his teeth in an annoyed look and reaching up to rub his sore shoulder, rolling it a few times to try to work out the kinks, damage courtesy of the snow bazooka.

"I vote down the hole. It beats burning to a crisp, and maybe these two'll be able to function."

((Permission to GM Sammy from Mili))

A freaking pit? The white gryphoness almost reared away from the damn thing but remembered that her and Sammy had the safety of flight. It was a very good thing too because Tahki wasn't so sure she wanted to dive down in the depths of that pit.

However, it seemed Sammy did.

"Take care of Shehk Nuk!" The gryphoness looked up at the female zombie as she called out to her friend. Wait what was she planning? Oh no. Into the hole? Were they really?

Sammy turned to Julian and shouted, "Bird force will enter the hole, Tahki let me grab some wood to make a torch and some extra ones if the first burns out!"

The gryphon had gotten her answer. With a sigh Tahki dipped down lower for Sammy to grab some wood.

(( phone post go! Forgive odd typos! ))

As Tahki dipped down Sammy was already leaping off her back heading for the remains of a shattered table. The legs looked thick enough to hold and would hold a good blaze for a while. Sammy gathered four table legs befre dipping the first to ignite it. "Alright we'll lead Julian you stick close if you can hold a table leg take and light a spare alright?"

Turning again to Nuk Sammy unslung her lightstrand. "Use this if yu follow us. Try and find more rope to addto the lights to make a good rope if you do." Sammy tosses her tangled lights to Nuk. "Alright in to the breach..." Carefully climbing onto Tahki she held the torch high. "when ever your ready."

Yiiieeee!!

Shehk made a very surprised noise as she was plucked from her snow-pile, thrashing and continuing to scream the entire way. Truly, she had been learning from Banshees or Mandragoras or something. Or she just had good screaming-lungs due to the lack of needing air.... or wait, she still was breathing while shrieking. Then again, shrieking required -some- sort of propulsion on their part.

So maybe she -did- breathe sometimes.

However, it wasn't a surprise that even when she was scooped up, she flailed and kicked and hissed and nearly threw herself back down into the snow before the option of 'ON FEET' was taken away. As Nuk had assumed, Shehk continued to thrash about even when scooped up... though her immediate reaction was to grab Nukpana's shoulders...
.....
........

And find the first exposed area of Flesh she could.

With her teeth.

Which had actually first met with a few mouthfuls of fur before she found something a little more flesh and gnawed onto it, not really inclined to let go while she growled.... Indeed, Shehk had just bitten him. And this wasn't like a love-bite either. (She never did love-bites. Bites were all about pain with the Pricolici.... well... okay, they were about drawing blood. -Blood- was her thing..).

Perhaps it was more fortunate that Shehk didn't also have claws to go with her fangs. It probably would have saved Nuk some battle scars.

It didn't seem to matter to Petro that he didn't know most of the students' names. What with the fire and all, could anyone really blame him? This wasn't the best moment to be exchanging pleasantries, even he could see that. Again, equine ears twitched, this time towards the sound of a female voice. Raising his eyes skyward, he spied Tahki and the other undead ghoul grab for table legs? Oh, they were going to light them! Smart move, very smart!

And with the skinwalker pretty much making it clear they either go down or end up roasted, Petro gave the other boil a wordless nod. He adjusted his things and slung the cannon around his shoulder. He turned to Amrita, despite how time was of the essence, he couldn't just pick her up without warning! What if it upset her further? And yes, this train of thought was mostly due to his upbringing and partly because of the other ghoul who was currently being less-than-agreeable with her rescue. "Can you function? If not, may I carry you?" he hoped that if he were forced to carry her, she wouldn't touch his mane.

Lucien watched with shock as the ceiling collapsed and fell onto the machine, causing it to fall through the floor. Was it... dead? Lucien thought cautiously. He looked at the gaping hole in the floor, and the mass of snow that that had fallen from the new skylight in the ceiling. Neither of them looked very safe and Lucien slowly looked to the other option... the east door. That DEFINITELY didn't look safe, leaving the air spirit to curl his toes into the floor and groan. What was he going to do? He definitely did not approve of roast chicken.

Immediately, he looked for Israfel to make sure his bird was safe. Upon learning he was, Lucien was able to uncurl his toes from the floor in relief. What was Israfel looking at though? Lucien was not sure and his eyes slowly went in the direction of a gnome that had starting flailing and then announcing they were all on their own. Go figure. Lucien knew gnomes were useless creeps. Doing exactly as the gnome said, Lucien didn't look at it as he walked by and accidentally kicked it as he walked by it to get to Israfel. He grabbed Israfel's hand and pulled him over towards the rest of the group.

"We should all stick together," Lucien said. After all, they had done it before and it had worked well to get them all here in the first place and stand strong against the mecha threat. Where they all went together from there, he didn't really care as long as they didn't stay here. Anywhere away from the fire seemed like a lovely idea.

Lucien squeezed firmly onto Israfel's hand as he watched everyone from the ones preparing to go into the hole to, with small interest, Nukpana and Shehk. He didn't say anything, but he gave them a small head tilt as he watched their behaviour.

The bird was freaking out. Cannot escape to the sky. Cannot crash through wall. DIVE DOWN.

So without thinking too much, Israfel jumped down, using his wings to slow his fall. "IDONTWANNADIEEEEE" If onlye he was not prone to acting so rashly, he might have heard what his fellow students were planning.

Oh for the love of...
Julian flew back up to the hole after finding no exit in the room. He had a feeling part of it was because of the changing levels of light whenever the robot sparked. And it seemed that no one had heard him earlier, since the only one who came through the hole was... well, an idiot screaming at the top of his lungs that he didn't want to die.

Julian passed him (Israfel) on his way up to perk on the edge of the hole and screech at the other students. He waved a wing out at the hole then shook one foot free, holding it up and bending his talons into his best attempt at an okay symbol. He screeched once more with a tone of haste in it while he latched his claws back onto his lights.

That done, he dove back down into the hole, getting even more anxious to just go home. Maybe... Just maybe he'd be able to ride back with Tahki this time. If they were riding, of course. It had taken a train-ride to get them to the tree portal to this world in the first place.

Amrita managed to scramble to her backwards feet just in time for Petro to kick the offending piece of debris away from her. The Undead child looked up in a rather jerky head motion to her saviour, the poor thing practically hyperventilating with fear. If there was one thing that could make most undead flip their s**t, it was fire; it certainly didn't help that the Vetala was in a child's body, borrowing a child's (albeit rotting) brain.

Almost immediately Amrita shuffled forward to cling to Petro's leg, the sense of security that her hero gave her outweighing the discomfort that she was clinging to the leg of someone dressed only in a loincloth. Dress (or lack thereof) was not important by far; he'd saved her from that particular fire, and she'd be JOY'd if she was going to let her saviour go. Nothing else seemed to register with her. Not the decisions that were being made, not the truely heroic feats of a fellow undead that was using Tahki as a mount, not the siren's nearly equal freakout; nothing registered, but the flames that were getting closer. It was all she could focus on, despite still crying pathetically and cling-hugging onto Petro's leg. Well, that was until she saw something else, and made a distressed and high pitched 'nnnnngh' noise.

"Uppleaseuppleasenow!" Amrita responded in a clear panic. She didn't even hear his question, it just happened to coincide with another small (probably about the size of a penstrictor) piece of debris rolling to a halt half a foot from her backwards feet.

But hey, at least she was polite?
PostPosted: Mon Dec 27, 2010 8:11 pm

That pretty much answered Petro's questions. He leaned down, just low enough to scoop up the small, undead ghoul to cradle her against his chest. He breathed a silent sigh of relief, given her height, she'd only be able to cling to his neck. Good. He wasn't as prone to lashing out if that portion of his mane was touched. He may be antsy and be likely to snap but at least he wouldn't drop her. He hoped.

"How far do the tangle of lights reach? he asked the first boil (Julian) who'd braved the pit, eying the hole where the pair of ghouls had prepared to go down and this other boil had jumped into while screaming at the top of his lungs something akin to not wanting to die. Petro would have made to lunge to grab the winged boil except he was already carrying Amrita and between a freaking out boil and a very upset ghoul it was no contest whom he would fret over. Of course, his version of fretting over was to distance her from the cause of her distress. Which were the various pieces of rubble that had caught on fire. Carefully, hooves moved closer to the hole where, apart from the torches Tahki and her rider had with them, didn't seem to have any signs of fire.

Nuk's hand automatically went up to catch the lights that were tossed at him, still battling with a flailing Shehk with the other. It took him a minute to take his eyes off the Pricolici, ("Shehk, no, SHEHK DON-- OW ") quickly glancing up at Sammy and Tahki, watching them for half a second. They seemed to be getting ready to go down the whole as well, his eyes flicking to the makeshift torch before he had to turn his attention back to Shehk, no time to really reply with much more than a 'Yeah thanks ok sweet owstopkicking!' before tossing the lights over his opposite shoulder. Of course, seeming to sense his preoccupation with an almost supernatural accuracy, Shehk took this opportunity to dig her teeth into his shoulder, biting down hard.

"OW, s**t."

The exclamation wasn't the first the skinwalker had uttered that night, but it certainly was the most surprised. Almost immediately he jerked his shoulder back, feeling the tips of her canines tear at his flesh, giving him twin cuts on the junction between his neck and shoulder as he shoved her instinctively. His hand immediately went to cut, touching it for a second before pulling it back to stare at the blood on his fingers, cursing under his breath and half scowling at her, reaching for her again. "Don't bite me, I'll bite you back," he growled under his breath, ignoring any more attempts to get away as he wrapped his arm around her again, tighter this time. And he wouldn't let go again.

Although it had been his downfall last time, he glanced up again as Petro spoke up, doing a double-take at Lucien when he noticed the curious look he was giving he and Shehk, making a face before nodding at the horse-monster. "That's a good idea," he half-grunted, sliding the lights off his shoulder and looking around for something to tie the end of the lights to. There wasn't much, it seemed -- the wood was all burning away, so much so it looked like anything they used would quickly be gone -- but they had to take what they got. The door seemed the most sturdy, and Nuk looped the end around it before tying it (with a lot of effort -- Shehk wasn't making things easy) around his waist.

"Lets blow this popsicle stand," he said to no one in particular, and, without much hesitation, wrapped his other arm tightly around the Pricolici and leaped down into the hole.
