Requiem made notice of Birhan's feet, so when she noticed the other girl approaching, she knew to be ready to take a step back or dodge. The tactic proved successful. As she made her next move, so did Requiem as she took a quick step back, dodging the blow.
Of course, now Birhan could do the same. Hoping to deflect that technique, she got back in range of Birhan's fists, but didn't attack. She waited a few seconds, staying on guard, before delivering a punch to to her trainer's gut.

Requiem would learn, with experience, that it wasn't just feet that gave an opponent's moves away. Fists, shoulders, eye movement... all of them could be easy tells, if you knew what to look for and the other person didn't know to hide them.
So even though the fist aimed at Birhan's stomach didn't involve any movement of Requiem's feet, the redhead still saw it coming and dodged.
"That's good," she encouraged. "You have to try new things and shake up your opponent, very nice!"
Of course, improvement deserved less holding back. Birhan's fist snapped out at Requiem's jaw.

Requiem wasn't sure what happened. Did she block? She didn't mean to - it was more a reflexive flinch. But whatever it was, her movement deflected the blow from hitting her face, and instead was blocked by her own fist. It hurt a bit, but nothing unmanageable.
'I guess that's how you block," she laughed. She knew she was holding her fists near her face for some reason. She gave her wrist a slight shake, as if to brush off the pain and then delivered a punch with her other fist.

((Sorry guys! I was sleeping!))
Sirius had watched the fight with pure fascination, she had never seen two senshi fight before. Any training she had been given was purely verbal. It didn't surprise her that Nemesis had won, she had met the senshi not long after being awakened and she wasn't one someone easily forgot. Other then Nemesis and Scylla who had been seen at meetings a few times she didn't recognise any of the others. The small introductions she heard were useful and watching the fight was also useful.
Had she heard someone ask whether she wanted to fight yet? Nope she had been concentrating too much on how both girls had fought and was replaying the fight in her head. It was only once two more senshi were getting in the ring did she realise it had been her turn.
"Oh rubbish, we can fight next." She turned to Eutrope with a smile. She was going to have to pay more attention though the idea of fighting a boy worried her slightly. Weren't boys suppose to be stronger anyway? She pushed it from her mind and watched as Requiem and Birhan fought. She watched how they both moved and tried to guess what the next person would do. She didn't want to look too stupid while fighting up there.

"Told you instinct was a big part of fighting," Birhan cheered the other girl on. After all, every body tried to avoid being hit if it could. Hers ducked away from Requiem's latest punch. "I'll show you some blocks later, so you don't hurt your wrists or hands trying to protect the rest of you."
For now, the battle was still going. Actually, it had gone for longer than Birhan had expected. Ares would have to be pleased about that, Requiem was getting a good deal of experience out of this.
"Let's finish this up, if we can," Birhan said. She could see Sirius moving out of the corner of her eye. The other recruits must be getting antsy with nothing to do. Darting in close to Requiem, Birhan aimed a punch for her stomach.

Couldn't really be defined as a waste of time, thought Super Sailor Gunn, watching the fights; everyone was actually advancing really quickly, her included. Ares might be a rank down on the power scale, but she was definitely at least equal in fighting experience. She agreed with the analysis that Nemesis had mostly been lucky; Nemesis had waltzed in fresh, and Ares had been going the longest out of all of them.
She set down the weights she'd been lifting and joined the crowd by the ring, face blank enough until she spotted Euterpe and heard his ridiculous comments. Would he ever not piss her off? The boxing ring was rounded until she stood next to him; without looking, she ground her heel into his foot. "Hello, Euterpe. Why in the world are you being embarrassing?"
This was her place. She was already more powerful than her sometimes-friend, sometimes-teammate, and felt it was required to make sure he knew it.

Requiem tucked in her stomach and popped her a** out, narrowly dodging Birhan's blow by essentially bending over.
"I could use some blocking tips," she laughed. "I feel like I'm going to pull a muscle if I keep finding new ways to dodge like this." If she didn't pull a muscle, she certainly would just wear herself out soon. Her arms already felt tired from so many punches with little impact.
She mustered up some energy and let out another punch toward Birhan's chest.

"It's-- nice to meet you too Gunn-- and Sirius." Euterpe had to spit out the words through gritted teeth, through a stiff smile. The note of pain was evident in his voice, hardly trying to keep the pain back. He extended his hand to mess up her perfectly styled hair, knowing that the rich and haughty senshi put serious effort into her looks, in an effort to annoy or divert her.
"I wasn't being embarrassing. I was enjoying the show." He argued, trying to pull away his boot from Gunn's painful and concentrated action of grinding. A few seconds passed, as if the action had little effect on him. But unlike Nemesis, he wasn't as skilledat keeping up a facade at the moment. "Haha.. ha." Apparently, at this point, he couldn't take it anymore. "Okayokay-- I've got a really painful bottle of disinfectant at home and I'm not afraid to use it." He warned Gunn with a light but defensive tone, his smile faltering, his eyebrows creased in worry. He was referencing to the visits Gunn made frequently for first-aid.
Euterpe may have held potential in terms of power-- but personality? Not something that was advised.

HP: 3 - 5 = 0 SAILOR REQUIEM IS VICTORIOUS! Birhan laughed, enjoying Requiem's unusual dodging methods. "Okay, we'll work on it after we're done here." The other girl was growing in leaps and bounds. Either confidence or just repetition of movement was giving her greater strength. The punch that landed smack in the middle of Birhan's chest left her wheezing for breath. One hand came up to pause the battle. Birhan recounted the hits made. Straightening up, she shot Requiem a huge grin. "That's match point to you, I do believe. Told you we were gonna make you awesome!" Of course, Requiem had had that in her all along. But it was a pretty damn good feeling to be helping someone reach their potential. "That means Sirius and Euterpe are up!" she called, vaulting herself out of the ring.

Requiem was overjoyed at her victory. Not only did she prove herself of having some level of talent to her superiors in the Blood Moon Court, but she proved to herself that she was capable. She could help but raise her arms in the air and hop up and down with a stupid grin across her face. The victory dance was short lived, as its not that easy to jump like that in heeled shoes, and she ended up toppling over, falling into the ropes of the ring to catch her fall.
Albeit embarrassed, she was still grinning like an idiot as she climbed out of the ring.
"That was fun," she said to Birhan, raising up one hand for a high-five.

Birhan obliged, slapping her hand against Requiem's. She then punched it into the air. "Okay, let's see you other cadets do that well, yeah?"
If it was possible. Birhan was feeling a little smug that their fight had gone so well. Sure, she'd lost, but she'd handicapped herself and it had still been close. Not a humiliating defeat, which made all the difference between the reactions of Birhan and Ares on losing.
"Grab yourself a bottle of water," she advised Requiem. "You'll be more dehydrated than you think you are, after that. We'll take a short break to watch these guys, then we can run you through a few blocks."
With that, Birhan was off and moving to get some water for herself. To the amusement of others, she was still bouncing as she went...

As the fight progressed, Ares slowly pushed her bruised ego to the backburner, instead allowing herself to get caught up in the battle before her. Birhan was definitely taking it easy on Requiem, but she was still giving it enough to be challenging. With the Caddy Corps, the Blood Moon Court tried to wield a gentler hand. They were just as much about self-improvement as world dominance, after all.
Ares clapped at the side of the ring. "It seems today is a day of upsets," she said, avoiding Nemesis's eye and instead smiling up at Requiem. She looked a bit like a proud parent. "Well done, Cadet." If they could teach their recruits to look at fighting as fun, then it would be much easier to get them to patrol until all hours of the night and to make painful sacrifices in the name of the greater good. Her eyes flashed to Birhan with a look of approval. It was a stroke of luck that they had found her. Besides her obvious physical prowess and unique power, the red-haired senshi brought a lot to the ISS, had since the moment she first joined up.
Perched at the side of the ring, Ares waited for Euterpe and Sirius to enter the ring. Would they show as much skill as Requiem had? "Come on, Euterpe and Sirius! Show us how it's done -- that is... unless you need more time to gain your bearings for battle." There was a certain taunt in her words, as if not getting in the ring was saying something about their worthiness. "If you don't act fast, one of these warhawks will beat you to it!" Gray eyes moved to Gunn, then Scylla. Plenty of the more seasoned members were itching to spar. She could feel it in the air.

The attempt at mussing her hair was withstood with dignity. This was not a place for her to indulge her sudden desire to scold the less experienced senshi, though the extra weight she leaned onto poor Euterpe's foot surely got the point across. Once he threatened her, though, she just sighed and obligingly lifted her foot, patted Euterpe at the small of his back. "As if it could get any more painful than before," she grumped.
"Go show off, huh? All kinds of pretty girls for you to make eyes at here."
Was that a note of jealousy in her voice?
She offered up a high-five to the cadet who'd just left the ring--Requiem, who could shut someone up in a coffin. A useful power, she guessed, since it'd take an enemy out of the way for a while.
Gunn met Ares's gaze levelly, then turned to look to the senshi of the kraken. Her expression of distaste maybe wasn't appropriate for a member of the ISS looking at a mercenary, but she had serious issues with Scylla--stemming from a stolen kill, mostly, but destroying youma was ******** important and she'd had it on the run. "Any time the ring's open," she said.
Which was now. "Sirius? Euterpe? Gonna get a move on?"

"You mean pretty and dangerous?" Euterpe retorted, Gunn being one of them. He had no doubt, if you pissed any of these girls off, you'd end up on the ground within only an inch of your life. (Look at Gunn, Ares and Nemesis. If they weren't bad enough, add the rest.) Euterpe eyes Requiem warily, he passed her on the way in-- She shut him in that coffin at the ball, didn't she? He had bad memories of that coffin. Traumatizing, one could say. Who male would be when a certain female negaverse agent stabbed through the coffin, almost removing his life goal?
But the fault laid directly with the senshi who had done it originally.
He walked into the ring reluctantly, sighing his heart out. He was a pacifist-- meaningless fighting was meaningless. (It was practice but still meaningless. Euterpe had enough fighting ability under his belt, damnit.) Not that he couldn't hit a girl. That wasn't the issue. If a girl deserved it, she had it coming. But the effort-- Of course, the silly male thought he could spend the day cruising."You know, if she doesn't really want to do it, I'd happily opt out. Really."
He sounded like a wuss and he didn't care.

Sirius smiled and listened as everyone said that it was their turn. She entered the ring after Euterpe and just rolled her eyes.
"Scared a girl is going to beat you?"
She hadn't met this senshi before and so in all honesty she had no idea what to make of him but he seemed like a boy and slightly... she couldn't find the word to describe it. She just wasn't sure about him and that was enough to make her want to find out. She was just curious like that.
"You ready?"
She didn't wait for an answer they were both in the ring and so she assumed that meant he was ready. She didn't know how hard they were suppose to be fighting but if he had been the negaverse she wouldn't have asked if he were ready and so she threw a punch at him, aiming for his jaw.
