As Marlo hovered over the booth, he was joined by his brother, his odly, alone, brother.
"Going to get a fish for the apartment?"
Marlo remained silent.
"DO IT."
Marlo's eye roll was obvious, even under his mask. "We don't need a pet."
"Yes we do."
"No we don't."
"Yes, we do."
"Then you get the damn fish."
"I can't. I've got to run." Elzo shoved a stick in Marlo's hands.
The younger sibling sighed.

Fish. Fish. Carter was fine with his one and only pet, but a fish? He peered into the tank, staring. These... These wish were AWESOME! He wanted one. It didn't matter that he never had a fish before. Nor did it matter that most likely one of his fish would somehow find its way to a very special swirly place that leads to fish heaven, but the fish didn't need to know about that. He took a deep breath and aimed for a fish.

Delphine Amary was on a mission. After checking her phone calender, she realized that her brother's birthday was less than a month away. She wouldn't be caught dead without giving him a present (if she didn't get him something beforehand then he'd hint at her what he DID want, and well, she didn't want to get him what he wanted). Delphine was looking for the easiest game with the most impressive prizes. Abnormal fish seemed like a decent prize. Scooping them up seemed to be easy. This was a game Delphine could win. She'd hand her brother a pretty... ugly fish, and he'd be satisfied.
Of course, who would honestly expect her to go above and beyond the call of duty for her brother's birthday? Damon would just be happy that she even remembered to plug it into her cell phone planner so that she could wish him a happy birthday on the correct day. Delphine could still remember the previous year when their father had embarrassingly wished Damon a happy birthday two months earlier than the actual day.
She loved her father sometimes. He was a walking piggy bank. "I am beginning to think that I really will enjoy this carnival," she mused aloud, preparing to scoop up her first fish.

...okay, so Carter really just wanted to see the horde of fish go after the scooper and devour it again. He beamed at the attendant and requested his fish to be placed in a bat tank. Pleased with his prize, Carter wandered off to check out the rest of the carnival.
That poor little fish didn't know what it was getting into.

Deep breath. It was time to call upon her honed senses. She had been fighting youma and negaversers alike for months now, she could certainly conquer this fish tank. If only she could be powered up right now, then these fish wouldn't even stand a chance. The murky water would make it more difficult (and did call upon a certain squeamish side of her - what the hell was IN that water, fish crap?), but Delphine was sure that in the end she would be faced with nothing but success. Hell, if she got a fish, it even came with a neat FISH TANK.
Damon would be happy, he wouldn't have to buy one. All Delphine would have to do is supply him with some fish food, and Damon's birthday present would be set.
It was time. Sucking a soft breath, she swept her little paddle into the water, hoping to succeed in catching SOMETHING.

Or, he would pull out nothing at all. His rod looked like it had been eaten. Taking another he jabbed it into the water.
Maybe he could skewer one by 'accident'.

Nope, just another eaten rod. He glared at the murky water. Glared. It mocked him. Looking at the fish he HAD won, it opened it's mouth and started swimming on it's side.
Exotic goldfish indeed. It was most definitely going on Elzo's side of the counter. Marlo had named it already though.
"Tard".

"Aha!" she cried out triumphantly (embarrassingly so). She had managed to snag one of the little bastards. Wait... was it radioactive? She was pretty sure something was wrong with it to make it glow like that. Delphine wanted to ask one of the people running the booth if it would survive another month or not, which would be long enough for Damon to have it so that Delphine didn't have to get him another present. After she had successfully trapped the poor fish, she didn't really want anything more to do with it.
Someone help her, please, she didn't want to touch its green slimey... glowy scales. She just wanted to catch another. If this one died, well, maybe the next one WOULDN'T. She had to catch another, for security reasons. If she could catch one, another one wouldn't be that much more difficult. This was like playing a video game on the 'easy' level.
Braving herself for another attempt, she honed in on the water, and tried to snatch out another fish.

Nothing.
"Bull s**t," she hissed irritably. How was this one defunct fish going to survive long enough? It looked like it was ready to commit suicide from being so lonely. It needed COMPANIONS, other nasty little fish to cheer it up. She glanced to her side, watching sourly as someone managed to catch their first fish. Oh, it was on. Delphine needed another fish, so if the first one died she wouldn't be struggling to find her brother a birthday present on the day of his birthday.
"Come on, I am sooo trying to do something nice for once." She was doing something nice for all of the wrong reasons, but hey, it was a step in the right direction. No one should criticize her for doing something good for her brother, no matter if she was just covering her own a**.
With a little growl of irritation, she tried her hand at this game one last time.

That was it. She was doomed. It seemed once the first one fell victim to her hand, all the others suddenly developed BRAINS enough to avoid getting caught. She had caught the ONLY retard fish in the whole ******** tank. Lifting her hand, she ran it through her dark blue bangs with a heavy sigh. Maybe, by some miracle, the fish would live long enough that she could pass it into Damon's hands. If she was even luckier, Damon would feel guilty for letting Delphine's present die.
"Could I have a bat tank, please?" she requested politely. She just wanted to get the fish into a stable environment before it turned over on its back and died. OH GOD, it looked like it was starting to do that now. DON'T DIE fish, she needed you to live just a little bit longer!

Eve wasn't much of a fish person. Honestly? She wasn't much of a pet person really; she had never kept any pets before. The only living thing she had taken care of were plants, and flowers were easier than dogs or cats. And fish were kind of boring. All they did was swim all day. At least plants had legitimate excuses; they couldn't exactly move or talk. Fish just blubbed while kittens meowed and dogs barked. Also, her father didn't like the idea of pets shedding all over the place, which made Eve sulk and promise herself she would get her own pet someday.
But, Eve thought, since she was going to move out, why not get some fish to keep her mother company? Sure, they just swam around and you just had to feed them so they were pretty low maintenance. It would be a good way to bring up the fact that she was moving out anyway. Eve had debated it during the days she had moved back from the Crystal dorms; it was so difficult to sneak in and out and hide bruises from her parents. She felt so terribly guilty hiding things from them, and it was time for her to be independent anyway.
...When she got a roommate. Staying by herself sounded like it would utterly boring.
Anyway! She was going to try her hand at this! Besides, the game looked kind of fun anyway!
