Hearing Aruna approve his analogy, Ki found himself quiet pleased. It was nice to have a fox around that would listen to him and agree with his views. It was also nice to have a fox around who was just as interested in his thoughts as she was hers.
Ki couldn't help but laugh at Aruna's last question. Not just chuckle like he had been, but actually laugh. His laugh was almost too bright and happy to belong to his breed of foxes. "No," Ki started once his laugh had calmed. "No, I am not above all that. There have already been a few rare occasions where I have let my emotions run wild and escape me." His face fell and a sudden seriousness washed over him. He thought back to the fights with his father and brothers and how he had reacted.
"But it is because I have lost control that I have a better grip on my emotions now." He shrugged off the memories and returned his attention back to the vixen. "I hear the day your emotions run from you." He said with a smile. "I bet your fire will rival that of any 'Daeva."

Ki's laugh shocked her at first, but as that wore off Aruna smiled and waited for him to respond. His laugh warmed her somehow, more so than the flames licking at his paws. It was a surprisingly wonderful sound, and Aruna felt as if she could listen to it for ages. It was the sound of pure happiness, in her opinion.
Ki calmed though, and soon worried her with the sudden change in mood. She was about to apologize, in the event that she brought up any painful memories, but he continued before she knew what to say. She was glad to see that he turned optimistic about whatever he had been thinking about, and smiled at his comment. "Let's hope no one that I'm particularly fond of will be caught in the crossfire, should that happen," she responded.

"I'm not sure about caught in the crossfire, but I sure hope someone you're fond of is around to help you regain your senses." Ki responded after a moment of thought. Thinking about Aruna going to pieces without anyone around to help her was not something he enjoyed picturing in his mind.
"I can't imagine a situation that would push you over the edge though." stated the 'Daeva with a smile. He felt like he could talk to Aruna forever, which was a good thing because on foot the journey back to Kurai would take forever. He flexed his wings reflexively and an idea formed in his mind.
"Say, Aruna, have you ever flown before?" His normal wicked grin made itself present on his muzzle.

"Yes, that would be helpful," she said, nodding and smiling in response. "But you're right, and I hope nothing ever does do that to me. Hopefully any outbursts of emotion won't be caused by anything too terrible. It could very well be an outburst of happiness."
Aruna was off in her mind thinking randomly optimistic thoughts when she heard Ki's question. "No..." Aruna answered slowly. She then noticed the look on his face. "No," she repeated, but this time more firmly and for a different reason. "I can't... We can't... fly there..." Her own stuttering annoyed her, and she ended with an angry huff and resolute shake of her head.

Ki's grin widened at her lack of speech. He trotted in front of her and laid down, blocking her path. Ki had carried things much larger than Aruna home before so he was confident in his ability to carry her in flight.
"Would you like to try?" Ki asked ignoring her protest. "Promise I won't drop you." His wings twitched and opened expectantly. It was clear that she wasn't too keen on the idea, but most foxes weren't their first time flying. Ki believe it was because they were afraid to try something different, and for a normal fox, flying was definitely different.
But if Aruna truly insisted on walking, he would walk. Although he would be sure to bug her about flying the entire way there. And maybe some once they actually did get there.

Aruna glared half-heartedly when Ki decided to block her path. "No," she repeated, though inwardly she was debating with herself. She exactly didn't doubt Ki's ability to keep her safe, but she was still scared to try it. But another part of her grew stronger as she thought. The feeling of flight, though not of falling, was probably quite grand. And if she was so sure Ki wouldn't drop her, then there was no reason to refuse. Right? Still, everything was always much easier in theory.
Sighing, stepping up towards Ki, her glare quickly fading, Aruna relented. "How exactly are you going to be carrying me?" She asked. "I assume I just... climb aboard." She went about doing so as best as she could. Eventually she manuevered herself around until her head was just about his neck, and she was facing the same direction as him. Somehow, it only just occured to her how massive he was.
With a deep breath, she said, "I guess I'm ready now."

Ki's wicked grin turned into a soft smile as he slowly won Aruna over. He nodded as she asked about climbing aboard and sat very still as she nestled herself on his neck, between his wings. She was so warm and so light. Ki enjoyed the feeling of being so close to her. When he thought about it, this was the closest he'd ever been with a fox outside of his family. The thought made his cheeks warm and the fire around his paws flare up.
Ki stood gently, testing Aruna's weight. He scanned the little bit of rocky mountain they had below them and calculated the easiest way to get airborne. Hopefully Aruna wouldn't mind too much if he dove off the side. Ki flexed his wings open and gave them a few test beatings.
"Don't be so tense." He said over his shoulder with a playful voice. "I'm going to start at a run to get you used to not being on the ground." Ki said as he began walking down the rugged terrain, slowly picking up pace. He drew his wings into him to get a faster run going.
"Hope you're ready because here we go." Ki ran straight towards a ledge and launched himself off of it. He allowed them to drop a little, but not enough to really terrify the vixen clinging to his neck. His wings beat the air, stabilizing them and carrying them off in the direction of Kurai.

Aruna nodded at Ki's first words, but it didn't change anything. She couldn't just loosen up, especially after he started running. She felt her grip grow tighter and tighter as he ran faster. And with each bound, her heart beat into her rib cage. Trying to get used to the feeling, she looked ahead and noticed that he was running them straight off the cliff. Instinctively, Aruna hid her face against the warm fur at Ki's neck and tightly shut her eyes. She could still feel, though. The air rushing around her, Ki's running leap off the cliff, the beating of his wings.
Then everything was calmer. They were calmly flying through the air. Aruna slowly opened her eyes and raised her head back up. She had to supress a gasp at the sights. All of her previous fears gone, smiled and breathed in the fresh air. "Wow," was all she could say at first. "Everything is so small down there." Sure enough, it seemed they dwarfed rolling hills, giant trees, and large lakes bellow. She looked down at Ki and almost blushed, knowing that the flame on her ear grew a little brighter. She was glad he couldn't see her at the moment. "Well, I can't say that I'm not glad you dragged me into this," she finally added.
