Mercury jumped up beside Amaidi, throwing salt water from his feet as he did so. He let his eyes adjust to the dimmer light and looked around. The cave was small, just big enough to hold two or three foxes comfortably. Any more than that and you'd be pushing for leg room.
The sound of water gently beating against rock sounded from outside. It seemed the tide was rising. "It's nice, perfectly suited to waiting out weather." Mercury peered out the cave as the water that slowly inched higher. "Does the water ever get in?"

Amaidi giggled and quickly moved out of the way from the splashing salt water waiting until mercury got used to the poor lighting. "ah it does a little at the entrance at the cave but not any deeper. So as long as you remember to be careful when you leave the cave. I would hate to see you trip and break or sprain something."

Mercury assumed a snooty posture, though he almost ruined it by grinning. "I'll have you know my reflexes, while not of the highest standards, are quite superb!"

Amaidi rolled her eyes and when Mercury was looking the other way proceeded to tackle him to the ground. She licked the top of his nose before rolling off smirking at him. "Oh and so what is this about superb reflexes." she laughed.

"You have a very nonthreatening aura, it shouldn't count. Exception that proves the rule, and all that other stuff," he stuttered, blushing a little. It surprised Mercury slightly, because until that moment he hadn't realized how much he let him guard down around Amaidi. He rarely felt as comfortable around other foxes.
Of course, now he was very damp and tasted of salt. Sensing an opportunity to get a bit of revenge, albiet slightly, Mercury stood up and shook himself, spraying a fine mist of ocean water in every direction.

Amaidi's hackles raised slightly as she let out a light growl at being sprayed before she decided to dip her paw in a puddle right next to her and splash him back. "uhuh, but thats the best part. I seem all innocent so I dont register... I am sure the rabbits would agree with you." she teased.

Mercury teased her right back. "At least the butterflies are on to your game. They know I won't be all sneaky and pounce when they least expect it!" He wagged his rainbow-tipped tail as a reminder. Even in the dim light with all the fog about and nighttime steadily approaching, the colors seemed to shimmer.

Amaidi laughed. "yeah I suppose you got me there. Yep I have to be careful about those butterflies" she smiled spacing out a bit to look at the way the dim light played with Mercury's colors. They where very pretty she decided again.

((I'm having brain deaths on this, think we're nearing the end?))
Mercury flashed a small, reflex smile and turned to look out of the cave mouth. "It's getting a bit dark. Think we should stay here for the night or move somewhere else?"
He didn't mind where they actually went, as long as he got to spend more time with Amaidi. He wasn't sure yet where he wanted their relationship to go, he just knew he wanted to get to know her better.

(lol... yep we just need to get to page six and we can count it for a breeding)
Amaidi looked around the place and thought about the answer for a while. "we should stay here I suppose. High tide comes in pretty soon and it makes it rather hard to get out." she yawned pushing the thought if her dad found out he was likely to have a cow. Well the old saying what he doesnt know wont hurt him came to mind and she pushed the thought to the back of her mind.

Mercury was having a similar thought at that moment. What Runaiu would say if she found out he was staying with a female. The clear response in his head made him chuckle.
"Are we gonna wake up wet," he asked. If tide was still coming in and there was already water in the cave, he wasn't sure how high up it would rise. He'd heard the water could go up many feet.

"Nope not at all the place where I put the straw and material for the bed is up on a slightly higher edge. Its never gotten wet even when I some times find myself stuck in here as a storm rolls in. Staying in the cave is always scary then but I never get wet. I even have a little barricade I moved in to keep the wet wind from getting me in the really bad storms." Amaidi told him.

"Sounds like you've spent many a night in this cave." Moving further into the gloom Mercury saw (or more accurately smelt) the heap of dried planets and female fox scent that confirmed a bed. The smell was only slightly faint, strong enough to warn other animals off from making their den here.
A yawn involuntarily escaped him. It wasn't the time that made him sleeply, in was the closed-in, dream-like feeling the fog lent to the landscape. Mercury shook his head, trying to cast the spell off, feeling slightly embarassed.

Amaidi nodded and looked out towards the ocean. It looked calm at the moment but there was a sort of wet feeling to the air. It was different than the breeze the sea normally brought it. There would probably be a storm some time in the future but not to night it didnt seem to be that close. "ah yes, I really like this place, I come here a lot to calm down, and often get caught in storms. They calm me down weirdly enough." she told him. 'but now this place makes me really happy. So I will look forward to seeing it again. even if I am still here." she smiled.

"I enjoy listening to storms, but not being in them. I never had a proper shelter, so I always got soaking wet when large storms hit," Mercury laughed.
Looking at the sleeping space again he felt his face grow hot with a blush he was almost sure was showing even through his black fur. "So are we sharing, or-," he trailed off as shyness cut off his ability to speak.
