Scarath peeks over his shoulder and wing as the large bronze speaks to him. He trills happy to be noticed. 'That's alright and thank you! I'm Scarath and they have tasty food here. Have you tried it?' S'kor notices Scarath glancing back and peers around him. Seeing the bronze is the focus, he gives a chuckle. "Notice you when he got a moment eh? That was nice."

"Well Mine. Look and see the man who leads us by mistake alone," Brumath regarded S'raid thoughtfully, wondering what was passing between the bronze rider and the Weyrwoman. "He schmoozes around the golden brass of Trine as though the knots of a wingleader rested upon his shoulder," the brown observed, "Wherefor? Does he spy on them, them on him? Does he hope to gain, does he do secret deals?... We should watch them. They may know something we do not of the mission, or of some other matter. They may think to use what they know to gain something from Trine. Bribe or blackmail?"
F'itz shrugged internally, turning to look over at the bronze rider. "I think they are both too patriotic to leave Benden, or betray it if you were thinking that, my cynical friend," he said to his dragon, "but I agree it might be worth watching them both, I wouldn't put it past them to be buttering the gold riders up; that one's been a bundle of ambition since the moment I first saw him out on the sands with the newly hatched Galavanth... Ambition. Quite an ugly thing, really."
*****
"...That one. That is Alumath's crimson daughter. We must speak to her." Without even a pause, Moriath set off towards the rusty-hued dragonet.
Well, it was certainly a better idea than just standing around being useless. Nodding slightly, Kleos set off beside her bondmate, studying the crimson and the girl whose arms she was in carefully. The dragon was just as small and skinny as Moriath had been at birth, and the girl... Well actually the 'girl' looked like she might be older than Kleos herself was. Not much of a figure to speak of, but lovely russet hair, and dressed in handsome leathers... She had put a collar on her dragon? Mind suddenly boggled, Kleos slowed a little.
Moriath on the other hand had no such reserve; she continued at her own pace until she stood before the little crimson. "Greetings," she said with a slight bow of her head to the much smaller atypical, "I am Moriath, and Mine is Kleos. I am glad to meet you, though I wish the circumstances were happier."
Shaking her surprise aside, Kleos joined her dragon and bowed to the other crimson rider. "Greetings, rider," she swept a gracious bow, "my name is Kleos, and my lifemate is Moriath; honored to make your acquaintance." Those really were rather handsome clothes she had; she herself had chosen a somber grey shirt with darker grey britches for today, along with her usual huge, old, hardy metal toe-capped boots. Really she felt quite outclassed, but she didn't mind being outclassed by a pretty lady in the least... Funeral. This was not a chance to go off flirting. Besides, even if it wasn't the ruddy-haired young woman had a newly hatched dragon; there would be no romance for her for quite some time.

J'iura was having a hard time keeping his facial expression neutral. He had spotted the knot of ranking riders conferring awhile ago, and had gravitated nearby in case a too-loud word might reach his ears. What he had managed to hear threatened to pull a grin from the blackrider's mobile features, but a grin would be most inappropriate given the occasion. Abigail was certainly every bit the Weyrwoman, and J'iura found that he felt a stirring of pride when he thought about the future prospects of Trine under her leadership. Allies with Malvren? Benden leaving? It was all just as he would have liked it!
Likewise satisfied that the top brass wasn't getting too uncomfortably schmoozy with the Benden riders, J'iura looked around for Kelvari, who he had lost after arriving, and was mildly worried about. The girl had been a little too quiet since Impression...
- - - -
Kelvari, I am not hungry, we do not have to be near the food.
"My stomach grumbles too you know." The girl replied, looking down at the little dragon reproachfully.
But your stomach is not grumbling, you are just afraid. I do not understand why, this is our home and we should not be afraid in our home.
"That is pretty deep for a baby, did you pull that from Dannath?" Kel quipped, not really expecting a response since she was hoping for silence.
Dannath has taught me many things, but this I already know. My rider should talk with some of these Malvren riders, I also wish to speak with Malvren dragons. Dannath says his rider has overheard that we are to be good friends. I wish to be a part of this. So does Dannath and his rider.
Heaving a sigh, Kelvari reached down and scratched the young silvers eye ridges, earning a croon of encouragement. "Can't argue with that, J'iura doesn't do anything without a reason, and he's certainly not the ambitious sort, so hanging out with Malvren must be a matter of self preservation." For a moment she allowed herself to chew on that, but the implications were a bit much for her sixteen year old brain to handle on top of a new dragon and a funeral, so she stored the information in the back of her mind for later use. "Hah, or he's spotted a pretty lady." She added, some of her trademark good cheer reappearing as she grinned cheekily down at Sakath. "Don't tell him where we are at alright? Let's give this whole Cross-Weyr socializing bit a try all on our own." The young silver trilled at that, and ruffled his wings in agreement.
Nodding, Kel looked around from her vantage point at the food stand. She spotted quite a few of her fellows from Trine, and some of them were quite busy mingling with Malvren and Benden! Her previous enthusiasm dimmed a bit, she really didn't know many of them well enough to intrude on a conversation, but Sakath was an adamant force in the back of her mind to get out and get known. Quite a few had gravitated towards the Benden Bronze that had made quite a good impression of himself at the Hatching, but with his rider currently engaged in conversation with the Weyrwomen of Trine and Malvren, Kelvari wasn't comfortable enough to approach.
Oddly though, neither was Sakath.
"What is wrong? He seems to like young dragons very much."
He is a very big bronze.
Looking over at Galvanth, Kel had to admit he was of impressive stature, but Brakiath (whom Sakath had so rudely growled at after breaking his shell) was far bigger.
"You lost your nerve. "
There is a Silver from Malvren here, I would like to meet him.
Rolling her eyes, Kel obliged her bondmate by scanning the surrounding area for the telltale flash of silver, and was surprised to find it very near the Weyrwomen. "Sorry Sakath, he's busy. Try again."
Now you lost your nerve.
"Oh shush."

"That bronze is giving an awful lot of attention to our youth" Cheryth noted causing Ca'mil to peer at the small gathering with a touch of interest. If she recalled properly that particular bronze had showed an interest at the hatching too and his rider was the one in charge of the Benden visitors since the other had been sent home in disgrace.
He doesn't seem to be causing any trouble. She bespoke her crimson companion though Ca'mil wasn't sure her words did anything to sooth her bonded. Perhaps it was good he showed interest - despite his predecessor's actions Ca'mil was fairly certain the large bronze wasn't going to start snacking on Trine hatchlings and if by some chance he did form some sort of fondness for Trine well perhaps he would take that fondness home with him, any step, even small steps were worthwhile in Ca'mil's opinion if they gave Atypicals more of a chance in Benden. All dragons deserved to live - even those who could not hatch themselves..why just imagine if..
"Do not think such things mine" Cheryth interjected before Ca'mil could continue on with such distressing thoughts. 'Do you think he would speak with me as well?" The dragon asked with her eye on the bronze and Ca'mil chuckled slightly. I don't think he's quite that open minded yet love...best let the dragonets try to change his mind "I am just as fine as they" Cheryth snorted somewhat miffed at the insinuation that the hatchlings were better then her in someway. Of course you are, but there is something about the newly born that melts hearts. Even big bronze hearts it would seem."They are sweet" Cheryth had to admit after a few moments.
------------------------------------------------------------
D'lin and Plexith were having a pretty decent time, at least as much as one could have at such a somber gathering, while they had spotted several of their fellows - they had all seemed caught up with something of their own and so they had simply taken to watching events unfold from the shade of one of the tents.
They sure seem to like him. D'lin commented as he watched the crowd grow around the Benden bronze. "Well he is a bronze" Came Plexith's reply - as though that made sense of everything though he did snort slightly at the sight of their newly impressed queenrider crawling over top of him"I don't think that is proper" The bronze told him and D'lin squinted slightly against the light to see better before shrugging slightly Not for us to decide He reminded plexith - and really it wasn't all that surprising. D'lin didn't really think Moira - from what he'd seen of her at the hatching - was the type to do most things in the proper fashion.

"Interest?" Eirlyn scoffed, "I imagine reknown would come to the rider whose bronze flew a Benden gold and sired a queen. His research apprently holds the key to that. Would you not want to know how, or why, your Queens fail to clutch despite being of good Malvren stock?" Her tone was sharp, as if the very idea ought to obvious. Really.
Still, the light in his eyes was marked by both Weyrwomen and hopefully by Inaari too. This was business they were conducting and she would be well to learn the subtleties of political chess games. Tempt the Knight to leave the Bishop prone.
Abigail smiled at his continued speech, though her words were empty as the two Malvren Senior Weyrlings approached, "Then I do hope you will pursue that duty with as much vigor as you have this conversation, Bronzerider." Brakiath, tell S'raid's that we will contact him later. I expect two copies and no trace of the mission. We must know what the Healer took.
From her place, the gold lifted her head and cast her gaze out in search of the bronze who was now covered in people and hatchlings alike. She rumbled her laughter at the sight, bemused by how the mighty had fallen. No one was truly evil, she knew, and it was good to see the bronze in a better light. Galvanth. Mine wishes that you tell Yours she will contact him later and expects two copies with minimal fuss. You and yours is doing well, Bronze, I respect that. Brakiath wasn't stupid either but the politicking was for humans, her own positive comment ought to be enough to sweeten the Bronze even a little.
Abigail bowed to the bronzerider then to T'ron and S'dekai, blinking as the silver nosed her shoulder and patted it fondly, "Thank-you, I truly appreciate it. Her memory will serve as lesson for us all. To be of help? Maintain good relations with all those you meet, I think. Positive ties between peers, allies, and Weyrs themselves will ensure such tragedies are minimized." She smiled graciously as she took a step back, "If you ladies and gentlemen will excuse me, I must tend to the rest of the gathering. I heard a dragon roar a moment ago..."
"Of course! Don't let us keep you from your Weyr, Abigail. I'm sure I can handle this." She winked as she nodded, a gaze passed between them before she turned back to S'raid. "Ah yes. I should introduce my latest bunch, hm? This wonderful young lady here is Goldrider Inaari, this is Silverider T'ron and his big behemoth of a Silver, Cavenath, and last but certainly not least that is Bronzerider S'dekai. They're a rather forward group, I'm afraid." Despite the humble words, her tone was bursting with pride and the moment of before was broken - out of necessity.

"I'm surprised you're not orbiting the charming Galavanth." G'brel making her way aimlessly through the crowd. He didn't actually know they'd already met the bronze, only that the bronze and his rider, for some reason he couldn't entirely fathom, was gaining a bit of a following among the younger set.
Not that S'raid wasn't perfectly capable of smoothing on charm like a thick coat of sugar glaze on a desert... but since he himself tended not to be the object of such sugar glaze behavior, he couldn't help crinkle up his nose in distaste when it applied to others. Jealousy maybe, if he had to self anilze. He couldn't say he was exactly immune to seeking approval and praise, but who was? He doubted even noble, clinical, honorable (sharding predatory) S'raid was immune to the almost alcoholic allure of being adored. Something that tended not to happen quite so often if you impressed a dragon who's skin didn't gleam like precious metal.
We saw this one at the hatching didn't we? She impressed a blue. Pale body, dark wings I think. Very dramatic. Primath supplied, searching her vague memories.
"You impressed at the hatching, didn't you? A blue?" he fished, hoping Primath's information was correct.

G'brel's wandering wasn't really s aimless as it seemed. She had actually been keeping an eye out for some of her friends while at the same time listening in her mind to the conversation Lifth was having with the great Bronze. As such the Greenrider's remark both surprised and amused her. "I think he has quite a large enough following as it is at the moment," she replied with a simple smile. "If I make him bespeak any others I don't know how he'll be able to keep track of the conversations."
This was a rider of the Benden lot. She'd seen him around before, but only ever at a great distance. "Yes, I am G'brel of Blue Lifth," she replied with a nod to his inquiry. "May I ask the name of you and Yours?" Despite current events, the teen was never against the possibility of meeting new dragons and riders. Especially since she had so much to learn yet in the upcoming months.

Inaari's grin all but exploded at the tone of approval she heard in Eirlyn's voice at their introductions, and she playfully batted her eyelashes at the Weyrwoman. "Thank you for the compliment, Weyrwoman! I must admit, I far prefer showing my face to my back - I think I'm quite thinner from the front! So of course, I'm somewhat forced to be forward." That sunny disposition and mischievous set of eyes turned onto S'raid with a polite inclination of her auburn head. "Apologies if my forward behavior has caused you any awkwardness, Bronzerider." It was a genuine apology, if given with a bit of lightness to it. Really, Inaari couldn't help herself! She had gotten Eirlyn's approval, handled herself fair well in a slightly political maneuver, and T'ron was next to her.
Inaari had a hard time ever feeling bad when he was there. Reaching back, the young woman grasped her boyfriend's hand and squeezed it fondly, just as her very favorite voice echoed through her head with interest and importance. Mine! Mine you must come up here! I am with the Benden bronze, Galvanth. But very importantly, I am with Serlaith and hers! They want to talk to you! Well. They want to talk to you later, but I do not think there will be time. Feynath seemed very eager to be home with Firieth.
This indeed piqued her interested, and when she noticed that there would be climbing involved to getting up where the others were, she grinned widely. "If you'll all pardon me? Ianath is calling for me, and I don't like to be away from her long when she asks for something." Rushing off, it didn't take more than a slight fifteen minutes for a tousled Inaari to grasp onto her dragon's dangling tail and be lifted up the cliffside. Climbing had been her thought, but then there had been a sharp thought from Ianath that it would ruin the pretty new dress, and that was not what queenriders did!
So there Inaari was, staring down at a newly-Hatched gold dragon sitting on her rider firmly, while the rider talked to the Benden bronze - Galvanth? It was such an amusing picture that the Senior Weyrling couldn't help but burst into giggles. "No wonder Ianath wanted me up here! You're Serlaith and Moira then?" There was little doubt, but it never hurt to be sure. Otherwise you just looked dumb.

Murphys_Law Yvoth whipped her head away again, this time toward another hatchling – no, this one was much older than the latest hatched dragonets. She rumbled a greeting at the smaller green. She didn’t remember this one from Trine, which was a relief, and she seemed sweet. She glanced a little worriedly at the young one’s chosen trailing behind, but the dragon was too nice to ignore. Hello. I’m Yvoth. My K’la is at the tables – it’s good to meet you. She gave a glance towards the food tables, but settled once more on the other green. She hadn’t spoken with a friendly green since she and her wingmates had been banned from Trine. A long time for someone with so short a memory. Games? Running, racing. Splashing. She glanced toward the waves, excited for a moment. But no, the boat had gone down there. It seemed like a bad idea. Are there any games you’re good at? I know many games! Mine never wins when I play hiding things. And I can find all his hiding places when it's his turn too. She seemed quite pleased with that as well. I like learning new games. Mine says I get..get.. She paused, glancing back at A'li a moment for him to supply the word she was looking for.A'li kept a slightly cautious eye on the larger green, but she seemed pleasant enough from the feelings he was receiving from Zinth. At the questioning prod from his own dragon he grins. "Antsy, Zinth. You can't stay still very long unless you have something to do" His attention returns to the larger green before them, wondering who her rider could be. "I hope Yours doesn't mind that Zinth came over to speak with you so suddenly," he waited just a moment for Zinth to supply him with a name, "Yvoth." Zinth seemed pleased that her A'li gave a nice greeting and set off again prodding for games. What kind of racing games does Benden play? Are they in the air? I'm learning to fly fast now with my clutchmates! Not fast enough to race yet, probably, but certainly faster than she'd ever managed before and it was a game to learn the movements of turning in the air and diving (though she had not gotten the hang of that one just yet).

"B'tar of Green Primath." B'tar introduced himself with an quick smile. It didn't feel appropriate to let a smile linger at such a formal occasion, though the idea of S'raid loosing track of his conversations was... amusing. "It was quite a hatching. I'm glad only one hatchling was lost..." he glanced toward the pyre area deliberately, reasoning that the dragon loss could have been far worse. It had been an avoidable fiasco.

"Yeah... Her loss was unfortunate, but the rest of it did go quite well," she agreed. The Green going Between had truly been a terrible thing, but sadly that was the nature of Hatchings. If a dragon's other half was not around, they simply could not survive. "In any case, well met, rider B'tar. How long have you and Yours been together for?" The teen wondered to herself how similar and dissimilar Benden and Trine Hatchings were from one another other than when it came to dealing with the Atypicals' eggs. What was it exactly that the Healers had been so intent on finding out?

"Oh, turns now." He shrugged, having to admit he hadn't kept an exact count. "I think I was...hm. Well it was a little over ten years ago." He gave her the vague span with an small hand gesture. Had it really been that long since Primath had been that small? ...Shards he felt a little old thinking about it.
We are not old. We are experienced. S'raid is old.
He's two turns younger than I am!
... He acts old. Primath answered back, trying not to sound slightly embarrassed by this faux-pas, but then again she did have a dragons memory. We aren't old.
"It's actually fairly amazing how much time can go by without you noticing." He chuckled faintly, as though apologizing for being relatively removed from her in age.

Abigail excused herself and T'ron murmured the appropriate words, echoing his Werywoman's words. When Erilyn introduced them to the Bronzerider, S'raid, he gave another respectful bow, but he was hard-pressed to lose the puff of pride he felt from Erilyn's words.
T'ron was very pleased to have S'dekai and Inaari with him, but that would soon change - Inaari gave his hand a reassuring squeeze and then excused herself.
While this was going on, Cavenath was politely seeking out names. He wanted to know everyone. He raised his head and gave a respectable bugle when the Weyrwoman called him a big behemoth - healthy, handsome and big, Cavenath just knew he was amazing (the snob). 'Mine, I want to see the other silver, I go. Come join when you can.' Cavenath nosed his rider, gave the Bended Bronzerider a little dip of his head and then trotted off to find the little silver.
'Young silver! Hello~ It is Cavenath come to say hello~!' No missing THIS fellow in motion, he was massive and moved with grace.
Cav's loud calling for the other silver was something he just kind of put to the back of his mind; it had taken some time to learn to separate himself from the dragon's thoughts and feelings, but now he could do it and keep himself easily. "He wanted to see the young silver." But he would stay, for a bit. He did know that Feynath wanted to return to the weyr quickly, but...surely, he would have time to speak with this Bronzerider as well as the young silver's bondmate.
"As Werywoman Erilyn said, we're quite forward. Hope it's not off-putting, it's not meant to be." Though this man was - from the way Abigail and Erilyn had been treating him - from Benden and that Weyr of late was not exactly in anyone's best graces, he was the sort of guy that knew one person's actions didn't define the group. T'ron would be respectful and friendly.

It didn't take long for Sakath to realize the situation with the unknown Malvren silver had changed, and with a slightly less then trumpeting bugle, given his small size, he answered Cavenath promptly and as enthusiastically as his young voice allowed.
Hello Cavenath! I am Sakath! Kelvari, please wave so he sees us.
Somehow Kel doubted that was really necessary, but she waved in the larger silver's direction anyway, wondering for a moment if his rider would be following. At her knee, Sakath only trumpeted his little baby bugle again, rising up on his hind legs as tall as they would allow so he could get as good a view of the oncoming senior weyrling as was possible.
He is big Kelvari, will I ever get that big?
Watching the other dragon approach, Kelvari couldn't help a stir of pride at the sight, and she nodded. "Of course, and likely bigger yet, as he is not quite full grown himself. So be sure to ask Cavenath any questions you may have. Dannath is a good dragon for you to talk too here at Trine, but Cavenath is also a silver like you, and may know things Dannath does not." Not that she meant to put a stigma of 'unworthy' on Dannath because he was a black dragon, but Kel was well aware that Dannath was a bit of a lazy oaf, and she fervently hoped that wouldn't rub off on Sakath.
Unaware of his rider's latest thoughts, Sakath dropped back down to all fours again for a breather, then reared back up to meet Cavenath, one foot propping himself up against Kelvari's leg for support.

Cavenath heard the recently hatched silver's reply and warbled back at him; throwing back another gentle insistance at His to join them as soon as it was prudent.
'Hello Sakath, it is good to meet you. And Sakath's rider! Mine will come when he can.' The massive silver stopped a few steps from the smaller silver and dipped his head to touch noses in greeting; once he had done that, he turned his head and made a pleasant noise at Kelvari.
'You will be as big as me, because Yours will take good care to oil you twice a day and not let you tire yourself as T'ronmine did for me.' On this, he was firm, because for him, his growth had been so explosive, his hide so sensitive, that T'ron had to oil his shining body far more often than usual. They also got tired quite easily, so that had to be taken into consideration...T'ron had actually carried Cavenath around like a large puppy when he had first hatched.
