No alchohol and no sex, neither was something S'kagi figured he'd have problems with, having already pretty much decided he wasn't going to get any closer to a cup of wine than he had to ever again. That before he'd found Luvith, who was itching to forge back into the fray and make contacts among those she would eventually take wing with.

What's the big fuss about? she wanted to know, especially about these forbidden things she'd never encountered, and he did his best to explain them, but really the truth was it was awkward and difficult. However bold and forward she was, however fast and large she would grow, Luvith and those like her were effectively children, the age where they'd run from others who tried to kiss them and giggle at how disgusting the idea was.

Their minds and bodies weren't ready for the rush of hormones, and their bonds were still new, and as strong as they felt, it was far safer to let them set.

I don't understand the appeal, but juice sounds tasty. I'm hungry. Lets meet people and eat. Can we do both? We can do both.

"Do you remember our hatching feast mine?" Cheryth bespoke Ca'mil as she sat and listened to the Weyrleader's speech.

Of course I do love, it was much the same as this one..and the ones before it Ca'mil told the dragon - and really most of the hatching speeches were close to the same - the same precautions taken, same uplifting words of encouragement and advice and likely most of the newly impressed we being hit with the weight of their responsibilities - if they hadn't already come to terms with them.

"Not completely the same though" Came the dragons voice again and Ca'mil had to smile a little at the tone of the Crimsons voice.

Of course not Cheryth...none could compare to our feast Ca'mil soothed her which seemed to mollify the crimson who simply could not believe that anything could be the same as finding her's.

"You should go and eat...have a good time" Cheryth encouraged her rider who simply rolled her eyes a bit.

I'm going I'm going she assured the beast as started back towards the food tables again - she hadn't quite made it there when Abigail had called for silence.

D'lin absently stroked Plexith while he listened to the Weyrwomen's speech - he was sure that whatever it was she shared with them would prove to be beneficial and certainly worth listening to."Leaders are always worth listening to" Plexith butted in with his two marks on the matter. 'I know that Plexith' D'lin responded with a reassuring pat to the little bronze who was regarding him with a serious air.

"And rules are put in place for a reason" The little bronze further expanded turning his gaze them to regard any of his clutchmates who happened to be nearby and D'lin got the impression that Plexith had spoken to encompass any of them who might be paying attention. 'We all know it Plex, no one's going to jeopardize their life-mate' D'lin assured him before he went on a tangent about following the rules - which D'lin had learned quickly the little bronze was prone to doing.

"Plexith" 'What?'"Plexith is proper...Plex is not" 'Right...sorry' D'lin responded with an amused look at the bronze - but at least it got the Bronze's mind off of trying to lecture everyone around them. it really wasn't their place to do so after all. "Someday it will be" Plexith chimed in - once more reminding D'lin that private thoughts were a thing of the past, at least until they learned how to keep things to themselves better. 'Maybe...but not yet' D'lin reminded his ambitious little partner.

Mine, you will not sulk or you'll miss what she is saying. Suvith added in a small n** to the arm closest to him to add in a more forceful point when his bonded put on a fierce show of ignoring him.

I do not know you, you can't be my dragon, we've never met. Really it was pointless now. N'ian knew it, but it did make him feel just the slightest bit better about this unfortunate fate of impressing to a Blue and not the color he'd always seen himself as being more fit to. Not like he'd actually go back and change things to not impress and send Suvith between for his arrogance. He wasn't so cruel. Not really.

The speech given, his attention turned away from the rules that had been set and onto his fellow weyrlings to study the girls. And those who had apparently been good enough to Impress to the higher colors.

Mine, stop brooding. I'm hungry, we're going to eat and you will stop sulking. I'm going to fix you yet.

I do NOT need fixing, Suvith.

Ofelia had been listening intently to Abigail's words in the same manner a sponge paid attention to water, practically soaking up everything she could. She knew nothing and such thoughts crippled her somewhat large ego just enough that it might have had a tiny bruise (not that she'd admit), so it was with a startled cry that she responded to a voice popping in and speaking to her outside of her head. This whole time she'd been listening to Serinth repeat the Weyrwoman (in a funny voice, no less) so it had been a shock for her ears to actually be used.

Moving Serinth from her lap and into her arms Ofelia turned and greeted the speaker - Kyros - with an extremely red face and a crimson dragonet with red eyes. Serinth did not like how suddenly both she and her rider had been startled, not to mention how instantly Ofelia's thoughts went from calm and laughing to a massive blur. It was confusing, she didn't want it - but thankfully she didn't have to dwell on it for long. The Green at this boy's side was speaker to her, and Serinth gave a nod back.

Hi there Viridith. Plan on catching any small animals or children today?

Ofelia's jaw nearly dropped as she listened to what her Crimson was saying to the other dragonet, one of the ones she'd mildly marked as a 'possible avoid'. There was no helping it though if Serinth spoke what Ofelia felt, and the tanner laughed uneasily as she went to answer Kyro's questions.

"It's...good ta see ya again, an' thank ya. I honestly didn't think I'd be sittin' 'ere wit' all of ya wit' a dragon of mah own, an' a crimson none the less. Mah brother says I'm in for a world of it now, though. . . .well, yeah. Serinth at the time wasn't somethin' I wanted, but ya wanted ta be a rider, right? Didja change yer name?"

Ah. Now they were to the meat of things. Rules. N'ymi liked having a guideline to follow and if it meant that some stupid fool might endanger his or her dragon, she would have no problem running to the Weyrling Master or the Weyrwoman with her stories. She wouldn't have to worry as she didn't care for drinking nor was she planning on dropping her pants for anyone any time soon.

We have to make sure the others behave, Daroth. N'ymi spoke to him, creche training activating. Some of them are younger than us and we have to make sure they don't get into trouble.

Her speaking to Daroth sounded MUCH different than her speaking to another person. At least, out loud. Taking a slab of roast, she slid it to the floor and smiled down.

Daroth started gnawing on the hunk of meat and noticed the silver that they had spoken to earlier. Look! Sakath and his!

V’al found an empty seat and sat with his hands in his lap in front of an empty swath of table. It was a weird position for a feast, but he didn’t plan on sitting long. He could eat later. Abigail was at least brief. V’al was not much for orders, but having never drunk before or… handled a girl, he had no trouble giving those privlages up for Lerath. His expression did stiffen when sex was discussed so loudly across the room. His Hold blood was showing. Instinctively, he dropped a hand over the side of the bench, but his fingers didn’t touch the blue’s smooth hide. Startled, he spoke aloud. “Lerath?” He glanced about and caught the blue’s dark-tipped tail slithering out of sight across the floor.

I did not meet my brother’s tall fellow. I am not finished.

V’al laid his palm over his face and sighed. Do what you will. But don’t be impertinent. He expected he would have to dragon the dragon away in a few minutes. Lartoh was just too inquisitive.

A please grumbled rumbled across the room in response, and a moment later, the wide-legged, sloppy-winged blue reappeared by S’in. Greetings to you and yours, Linnaeth.

---

K’la frowned less prettily than before at the veiled mention of the crimon and her rider’s death. Really, how long were they going to milk that? It was the only reference though, and she her annoyance was relieved by the time she stood at the end of the short speech. She rose, sweeping her hands down the front of her gown in a natural moment so she wouldn’t pat at it like a fresh-faced girl. She headed for the harper’s corner of the room to see if she could find some noble to speak with or young lad to admire her.

S'kor listened intently. He knew being a dragonrider was a great responsibility. To one's Weyr and to one's Dragon. He just never expected to see it from this position. He smiles slightly to himself. So no wine, not that I drink much anyhow, and no bedside games. Interesting. I wonder if they've even proven that or if it's just a precaution. Maybe I'll go ask.

Scarath pauses in taking a piece of meat to look up at his rider with a green eye. 'Mine, you wont do that will you?' He didn't want his in trouble with the Weyrwoman. S'kor looks down and chuckles. "I think you're going to keep me too tired for anything but falling into bed to sleep."

Optheli was privately surprised. They really forbade their weyrlings from doing that? Well, well, well. It seemed the lecture was over and she really wanted to meet some of the other new riders. It seemed though her wants would have to wait. 'Mine, I'm hungry. I can smell the meat over there.' Dynith points with her nose as her eyes whirl hungrily. 'Theli gives a sigh and smile; rising from her seat she looks in the direction Dynith pointed. "Alright, lets go." She sets off with Dynith at her heals.

Akaya was well trained enough not to let her surprise show on her face, but the reminder seemed...superfluous? What weyrling rider would even have time for dallying around, with the constant care of their lifemates, the time-consuming lessons, and the exhaustion that came with them both? Then again, she was Holdborn--and a maiden yet. The warning to abstain from sex simply served as a reminder of what lay in the future, when Sleeth was mature... As for abstaining from alcohol, no great loss there.

The news of barracks assignments was somewhat more welcome--though she hoped if she was to share (she didn't expect not to) that her roommate and their dragon would be the type who didn't mind cheerful wake-up calls...Sleeth had decided she made a fine alarm.

As soon as they were given leave, Sleeth was romping back to S'ren, not satisfied with the answer she'd been given and Akaya following after. When does 'we shall see' mean? Is that now, or later? I don't like later, it never comes soon enough.

Akaya was back to being apologetic. Sleeth, give the poor man a break! she scolded lightly, though she hadn't the heart to sound firm. "Now isn't a good time, Sleeth, though it would be good for you to go meet some of the other dragons?" she suggested. Sleeth thought it was a brilliant idea, and promptly trotted off to harass a blue--actually, if Akaya wasn't mistaken, wasn't that the blue that had hatched near the same time as her? "I think I am going to be kept very busy," she told S'ren quite honestly. It was perhaps an understatement.

Leareth! Sleeth chirped at him in the same tone she'd used on the Sands, and then added a trilled greeting to the brown Linnaeth for good measure. Isn't this fun? Are Yours enjoying themselves? It's such a lovely day~ She cheerfully bespoke both blue and brown. Clearly she'd go on if one of the others didn't step in to take the conversation away from her.

S'ren was feeling rather nostalgic toward his own Hatching feast as the Weyrwoman spoke. It seemed both like ages ago and like yesterday at the same time.

It was a very happy time, Tereth agreed, follow along with his rider's memories. We have come a long way from then.

Yes, we certainly have. You were so much smaller at the time too, he remarked, remembering the tiny and adorable baby Brown. I was able to carry you even.

And now I carry you on a daily basis. There was a sense of amusement from the dragon. What happened, Mine? You have grown weak.

S'ren was very much tempted to roll his eyes. No, you have simply grown big. I can't very well pick you up when you can squash me with a single foot. That earned an amused rumble from the Brown. The rider was drawn out of his reminiscing however when the small Green was suddenly bombarding him with questions once again. "Um..." Fortunately he was spared having to answer her questions when Akaya kindly diverted the dragonet's attention onto her clutchmates. He chuckled lightly at Akaya's remark. "The first couple of months are exceedingly busy," he replied, although he knew that wasn't exactly what she meant. "But yes, Sleeth does seem to be quite the social one. I have no doubt that she will be of great assistance to you in starting that choir." In the back of his mind, he couldn't help but wonder how he kept running into all of these chatty Greens... Didn't most dragons keep the talking to Theirs?

You are simply fortunate that way. You draw them in with your mere presence. Tereth was entirely too amused by all of this.

Oh, shush, you.

K'ro groaned internally as the Weyrwoman spoke. Wine he could do without no problem, but the prospect of giving up sex was not a pleasant one. Still, it was for Viridith, he'd cope. By the sounds of it he'd be too tired most of the time to even think of it for quite some time in any case.

"Think of me," Viridth instructed, "you are Mine. You don't need anyone else."

...Well, that wasn't quite true but she did come first.

"That will do," the green replied to his thought, her mental tones cool, "for now." Setting aside the matter of Her rider for a moment, the hatchling snapped her head around to regard Serinth again. "I'll have a tunnel snake if it comes my way," she said with a flash of teeth, "but no children thank you."

What? Oh, she was talking to the other dragonet, whose words he hadn't been party to. He supposed he'd get used to that. "Yes, male riders have to," K'ro said with a nod, "I think I'm going to go with K'ro. It'll be odd to get used to, but it sounds like there's going to be a lot to get used to over the next few sevendays... It does sound as if we're all in for a rough time," he went on, "but especially you, and the others who Impressed atypicals. They did keep saying in the candidate lessons how easily the new colours tire and get ill while they're young... And then of course you and Serinth will have to decide what you're going to do with yourselves; fight, or hope to lay clutches like Alumanth herself." There would be a pleasing rightness to it if Serinth chose to follow in her mother's wake, but it was down to what felt right to her and Ofie in the end, not what would make a good story.
