"What do you mean what is this? What the hell are you?! It's not doing anything to me." The tech stepped back with the necklace in hand looking at it carefully. There was no explanation for why it was hurting the boy it was just....As he looked a little closer the lab tech realized something. Etched across the tiny stone were runes, holy banter of one sort or another. He couldn't make it out entirely but he at least recognized it as something Suto had show him before. This...was a holy item, used by monks and priestesses so that meant. "Y...your a demon?" The tech's eyes grew wide. No way was he going to lead a demon anywhere on his own. He had heard the stories of what they could do. He was never certain where Suto got his samples of demon blood but he never wanted to find out. And now that mad man expected him to lead a demon through the hallways of this hell like it was no big deal? "I thought the results showed that you were of dragon blood but a demon?!"

Furrowing his brow, Blade didn't know what the lab tech was talking about. It was rather strange that the amulet did nothing to him. Maybe the curse was very selective? He wasn't sure. But then the guy started shouting about him being a demon.

"I'm not a demon. I'm human. I might not be pureblooded but I'm human," he muttered out of annoyance, "Why is it that people assume that I'm a demon because my eyes are ******** re-"

His voice trailed off as he tried to piece everything together. Everything happening was starting to give him a headache and he already felt miserable enough as is. The doctor did do something to him... and he could vaguely remember something about giving dragons weakness...

"What the hell did he do to me?"

"If you're no demon than why does this holy item hurt you?!" The man shrieked. He needed to leave, get someone else. He was no longer qualified to do this job. Certainly only death would await him. Giving Blade no answer the tech made his way back to the door. Fumbling with the handle he was finally able to open it before he ran out forgetting to lock it behind himself. He would need a brute for this task. Someone big who could take a hit or two.

The shrieking of the other man left the thief speechless for a moment, not that it mattered that much as the guy soon bolted out the door. So the amulet was holy? Holy objects never bothered him before... not that they should have either. Maybe Suto really did give him demonic weakness.

That did not sit very well with Blade at all. Aside from the fact the amulet hurt a lot, the tech's reaction would likely be a relative norm. As if being part dragon hadn't already cast him out enough. It was no offense to Riyo or demons in general, but people had a tendency to be afraid of them.

Maybe it's temporary... he hoped while trying to think of what to do here. It didn't sound like the door had locked after it closed again, but that didn't do him much good while he was still strapped to the table. The metal bands were fairly thick and with his magic stunted for now, there was no way he could burn or melt his way through.

"Dammit..."

Whoever else was in the lab with him, he hoped she was having a better time somehow.

The tech was gone for a while, apparently he was having issues with finding someone to help. Either everyone was busy or they wanted nothing to do with a demon. Finally in the lower quarter his luck started to change. He managed to stumble upon another tech who wasn't busy and had no issue facing his potential doom.

"T..thank you for helping, I have no idea what I would have done. I can't believe Suto asked me to lead a demon around on my own. To the C block no less! That's on the other end of the compound. There's no telling what could happen in that time."

"No problem, my friend." The man rattled off in a strange accent. "This is the stuff I am here for. Danger, adventure, no so much the sciency mombo jombo."

"I....I see," The weaselly tech raised a brow. Who knew there were people here willingly...and for the dangerous stuff. If he had his choice he would be back home taking over his father's business of pickling foods for the winter and selling them. It wasn't satisfying work but it was certainly better than this.

"It has been borish around here, ya?" The more confident tech stepped up to the door first noticing first that the door was unlocked.

"I would rather things be boring," the other tech said as he shrank in on himself. He then noticed that he had left the door unlocked and cringed. What if the demon escaped?

"Well, this could be interesting," The larger tech smiled as he pushed open the door and strolled right into the room. "Honey I'm home." He announced a cocky grin on his face.

Hearing the door again, Blade glanced to see a new tech coming in, one larger and more confident than the previous one. With a sigh, he wondered what they wanted now. Were they gonna try shoving more holy objects onto him to make sure he was a demon?

... Was he a demon now? He supposed it didn't matter a whole lot at the moment. The timid one certainly believed him to be.

"You're not welcome here. Don't make me eat your souls," he responded flatly and somewhat sarcastically. Quite frankly he didn't really want to deal with these lab techs any longer. But perhaps they'd somehow make some sort of opening for him to be able to escape.

He knew her so well... And while a small part of her enjoyed it, the rest of her was terrified. It was like she was exposed on all sides and open for him to see...

When he began to give his little 'pep talk', Riyo's face changed from disheartened to utterly destroyed. It was a slow, subtle transition, but obvious if you were watching closely like he was.

He was right (in her mind, at least). In her heart, she'd always known it was just a matter of time before they either realized they were in too deep or...

Before she ended it herself.

Now the red tears were flowing down her cheeks and onto the slab beneath. "I never blamed myself for what happened back at the village..." She was sobbing, and holding back a lot despite the situation. "That's how... That's how I got on with my life." The sedative was starting to wear off. "I figured if something were to happen... They would be strong enough to kill me if they needed to...And I could die peacefully." It was selfish. To think that they would kill her and live with that painful fact. But that was how it had always been. She was selfish and only considered her own needs.

"But how can I live with myself now?" Riyo's face changed from misery to disgust in the blink of an eye. "I destroyed them." The collar around her neck had begun to spark. "I took the lives of the only people to show me sympathy. HOW DO I LIVE WITH THAT?!" She shouted, gritting her teeth at the fury of the collar.

Suto listened to Riyo like a parent would listen to a child. She was certainly taking the bait and was rather torn up about it. "Its quite simple really," The shouting didn't seem to bother him. "You merely forget. You tell yourself they never existed in this life time." He spoke more seriously. "The images you see, the people you lived with are nothing more than after images of your subconscious. They exist only in a dream, Riyo." Whether she took that advice would have to be seen. He watched the red tears drip from her eyes and couldn't resist bringing up a hand and with a gentle touch wiped them away.

"Ah, we have a joker, yes?" The larger tech bellowed a laugh seeing Blade in distress on the table. "No worries, man, we'll be moving you to another room so don't be all spooky with the souls there." He grinned obviously not taking Blade very seriously as he walked toward the table and started to undo the bindings.

"Y..you're really going to be that close? He said he would eat our souls! I heard they could do that and worse." The other tech squeaked.

"Don't be such a worry wart." The other tech grinning finally having the buckle over Blade's chest free. "He doesn't look like he can stand on his own let alone devour a soul." Quickly he worked undoing the buckles one by one.

After speaking, Blade wheezed somewhat. Between screaming, talking, and just breathing, the needle in his lung was being rather bothersome. While the bigger man laughed off his 'threat', the thief was amused with the timid tech's response. Perhaps he could play off of that some more..

Slowly the bindings were being undone, which made him feel minutely better. The young man stayed fairly still was he was being freed from his restraints, storing what strength he had while trying to think of what he should do. It didn't look like they had a stretcher to transport him on so he was either going to be escorted, dragged, or carried to wherever they were taking him.

"You never know. I'm pretty hungry and thirsty..." he uttered. It was true really. His body over all was needing just about all of the essentials at this point.

Riyo's expression softened a little, though still held self-contempt. It was ironic how this man was the source of all her and her friends misery, but also the only thing that could comfort her at this moment.

"But..." She didn't want to forget them. She didn't want to let the memories of her beloved companions be tossed into her subconscious and become as such.

Yet...

"Yes. It was all a dream, just as I suspected when I woke up earlier. All of the things I felt and people I met were just..."

She couldn't finish the sentence. She didn't deserve to get off the hook so easily. "Have you done it before?" Riyo asked suddenly. Suto sounded like he spoke from experience on these things...

"Ah ha, good point." The tech laughed. "I'm sure you are. Suto don't feed the patients here but three times a week. If your new you'll probably only have water for the first week and nothing else. So you better be used to being hungry, man." The last buckle finally undone the tech looked down at Blade curiously. "Now what would these be for?" He poked at the needle at Blade's stomach curiously. "You look like a pin cushion."

"W...we should probably use the restraint cuffs," The other tech said as he pressed himself against the wall. The boy was completely unbound with no restraint. This other tech was crazy to think nothing bad could come of this.

---

For a moment, the smile on Suto's face faded. His golden eyes turned toward Riyo in a questioning manner. "Perhaps, but I no longer remember." The smile started to creep back up his face though it wasn't nearly as big. "Time has confused many a dream with a memory and the other way around. But, I also enjoy what I do. The thrill it brings to discover something new, to uncover a mystery, even if I have to wade through blood to do so. So regret is just something I no longer know." It was hard to say if he was speaking the truth but his smile deepened shortly after.

"Now," He idly traced a finger along one of the chains. She did look so good in chains. "Tell me about yourself, about the little friend that you summoned earlier. I enjoy a good tale riddled with destruction and despair." So he obviously didn't know regret he only knew enjoyment in pain.

What a way to live. To not know whether you were dreaming or awake during specific times in your life. To not know whether people you met had been real or simple figments of your imagination. What was even more shocking was that he didn't care anymore. He simply floated along through his days doing the only thing he cared about anymore... Which was...

Cutting people into little pieces, from the look of those instruments. Like some kind of un-doctor. She looked into those eyes and found a different kind of comfort. Not like the kind she had gotten from her friends... It was as if he was saying 'It's okay for you to do what you want.'. To follow her impulses on a whim, no matter where they may lead her. A very conflicting idea, since she had been working on control from the time she had... Well... Nevermind.

"Before I... Left the village." to put it lightly. "I started seeing a man. I could never see his face, but he'd tell me about things I'd never imagined before. Things like revenge and hate. It was overwhelming to think that those things were possible at the time... But the more I heard it, the more I liked the ideas."

"The night it happened, there was a red moon in the sky. My mother had confronted me, intent on ending my life. It was something she hadn't been able to do up to that point... I don't know why. It sort of put all the pieces together for me."

She paused, flinching at the thought of that night. "She left a scar on the back of my neck before she died." A small fact she threw in while she was thinking about it. "After that, I could summon those creatures. I've never gotten a straight answer from... Him... on what they are, but they're controlled with emotions. Some days, I have no problem with them. Other days, I have to fight them to do what I want."

Oh what a tale she weaved. It was brief but Suto could easily fill in the pieces. A little girl, the monster of fables, had been born to a woman who had no idea what she had gotten into. Whether she had been seduced or raped Suto did not know nor cared, but what was produced was this magnificent creature before him. She had no doubt suffered in her village, why else would she fill the need to end them all? She had fit the tale of the cursed black cat so she became just that. One night she was cornered and anger blossomed for the first time. Oh rage was a pretty color, if only Suto could have seen it.

The man had him curious, though Suto was uncertain if it was a real person, a ghost, or a true figment of her imagination. When one suffers and is alone they tend to make up friends and those 'friends' generally bring out the worst in them. So it would seem if he was telling her stories to let revenge bloom in her heart and then feeding that brilliant flower with hate.

"And for that scar you took out your poor mother's heart." The smile on Suto's face became somewhat demonic. "That's brilliant really. Simply splendid." He clapped his hands together as he looked to the girl. "Maybe its high time you stopped trying to suppress that power and actually let it free. Tell me, my dear, will you walk the path of destruction with me? Together we could paint the most beautiful picture of travesty the world has ever seen." If this girl had a fraction of the power she spoke of, Suto could go beyond the research he had already created and bring himself one step closer to his goal. Sure he still wanted Mitsu back, but she was more of a pet now than anything, like his dear Flopsy. He had invested the time and effort into her creation and though flawed she had gotten him far. But the future was at hand, power was at his finger tips and he could almost taste it.

To be truly free of worry and doubt... Was it worth losing what little morality she had? To join him meant to throw all caution to the wind along with everything her friends had given her.

What would happen if she refused? Say he just happened to be more generous than she gave him credit for (fat chance), or she managed to escape this place on her own. What exactly would she do? That was something Riyo honestly couldn't figure out, no matter how long she thought about it. There was nothing for her out there anymore. Nobody holding their arms out to greet her or becoming impatient to her tardiness.

Her eyes clenched shut again to stop her flow of tears. "I will follow you through this blood-bath on one and only one condition."

This was obviously all in his favor. She knew that he probably wasn't doing this for her benefit. A man like him was too concerned with his own gains, but she wouldn't be leaving this deal empty handed.

"Don't leave me like everyone else does."

"How could I ever abandon such a treasure." His words were full of poison, though soothing to the ear. He reached up and with nimble fingers undid her bindings. One by one the chains fell away and clattered to the floor. There were only a few left though they were attached to nothing. They left the ability to tether the girl down at any moment, that was good enough. "Come, dear Riyo." Suto stood to his feet and made his way to the door. "We have many things to do." He held out his hand to her, a binding notion in his mind. If she took his hand now her mind was his toy to play with. Come little black lamb, let us show the other white sheep why they are inferior.
