That seems to stump Biddulphia and he has no response with which to answer Fran and blinks as he processes the information.

"What you say may be accurate. But I see no reason to alter my actions based on the unfortunate view of others. If you say this is generous, I will accept it as such. But I do not believe I can take pride in doing something as basic and necessary as sharing my excess." It's hard to tell, his voice still buzzing with its strange metallic quality, but Dulph seems somewhat disturbed by the thoughts her words triggered.

Well, there wasn't really much she could say to that, now was there? Her mouth opened briefly as though she was going to attempt an immediate response, and then, as this became apparent, it soon slid shut again. It wasn't her place to question his views, nor was she going to attempt to change them. In all honesty, Dulph was significantly more generous than the vast majority of soquili in this region and to attempt to have him adjust his stance in any way would have been detrimental.

Why would anyone look a gift horse in the mouth?

If Dulph regarded it as practical and the done thing, then the mare was going to let this continue. In the end he would benefit far more creatures than he would harm them, he would gain friends this way too. So long as he kept enough to sustain himself, then there was nothing negative to be said about this at all! It was a bit of a foreign concept to the mare, as there was usually something to be picked apart. Still, it was a refreshing concept and not one she would spurn.

A smile lingered on her lips at this and she finally gave a loose roll of her shoulders - it was then that she lowered her head and took another sip of her water before examining the bed she had been provided with. A moment later, she had circled it, nudged it here and there and then deposited herself in the middle. Resembling a small dog, she seemed suitably comfortable with the arrangements.

"Mmm but it's been a long day, care to join me?" she offered with a small smile. "I could do with a nap," she confessed.

Iroxide seemed amused and moved into the store room, out of sight. Biddulphia was defiantly bemused by his friend's actions.

"Thank you. A nap would indeed be welcome. Though I am sure you would be more comfortable without me in your bedding. I do have my own space and would not want discomfort you."

Accustoemd to the close proximity of Sol as she slept, she often forgot that the majority of soquili preferred to sleep in their own personal space. He reminded her of this with his statement and she paused momentarily to register this before developing a sheepish expression. It only lasted for a few seconds or so but it was enough to confirm that she had realised her error and hadn't taken it to heart! There would be no offence to her and she could safely assume (based on his nature) that he hadn't taken any immediate offence either.

"Ah, well then by all means sleep in your own space," she replied in an agreeable manner before chuckling. "Force of habit, I sometimes forget how things are usually done!" she confessed. She fell silent to let these words settle in before offering a warm smile and shaking her head. "Good night and have many pleasant dreams," she said finally and with that, lowered her head and shut her eyes.

Ahhh, but sleep would be welcome after the distance she'd travelled.

Biddulphia seemed a bit confused. He surely didn't know the way things were 'usually' done. All he knew was that instead of being soft and comfortable, his hide was thick and hard. His internal heat didn't radiate from his body as most Soquili's, but rather radiated out his runic tracks, making most of his hide ambient temperature while the glowing lines through his hide were almost hot. He truely hoped he hadn't offended her, it seemed he had not, but it was not something he could easily determine.

With a sigh too soft to be heard, he moved to his own pile of bedding and settled for the night. He wouldn't notice when Iroxide peeked out later and rolled his eyes at his friend's ineptitude.

It was fairly early when the mare next woke - she'd slept soundly and incredibly comfortably. It was a far sight from her previous experiences and after months of sleeping rough, she was lapping up the 'luxury'. Admittedly, there would be some who would despite her claims of luxury but to her, that was exactly what it was. The cave had been warm, sheltered and she'd been fed and watered by two hospitable creatures - by all standards this was a massive step up from previous experiences!

Nevertheless, the mare's eyes slowly creeped open and despite the darkness that still dominated this space, she detected a faint trickle of light creeping through the cave entrance. It had bounced off a number of glimmering rocks and now glistened in an unusual fashion. She gave a yawn at this point and after some silent negotiation with her limbs she pulled herself to her feet. The scuffles were quite and dull, muffled by the blankets beneath her, enough not to wake another up.

Another pause.

She then stretched, cracking a few limbs here and there before giving another, much more vocal yawn. All in all, a lovely rest!

Biddulphia slept so deeply as to almost seem dead. Fran's movements and noises didn't awaken him. But Iroxide perked to alertness quickly. He was back on the rock near the warm water, happy with the radiant heat. Warm as he was, he was able to wake quickly and move just as quickly.

Darting into the back the small lizard reappears moments later with a bit of canvas upon which he has piled with various selections of edible breakfast stuffs. Pulling it out into the middle of the room he then goes and walks all over Dulph until the small stallion wakes up.

Eyes opening wide as his friend traipses across his back, Dulph turns his head to look at Iroxide. Iroxide nods towards Fran and Biddulphia blinks in her direction. A slight nod and smile, "Morning greetings." The words seem directed towards both the others. Standing, he looks to Fran "Was your sleep restful?"

"You know, you could have just told me where to get all that," she mused, observing the reptile as he flitted back and forth to retrieve various food stuffs. There was no denying that Iroxide was a fabulous host, and, would put some of the most proud soquili to shame but as a mare who prided herself on being self sufficient, his attentions were a little foreign. They weren't completely unwanted but they were still awkward to her, she never liked to be a burden in the first place, let alone when she was on someone else's turf!

"Not that I mind the sentiment, I just figured you'd prefer the rest and some time to yourself," she clarified in the hope that she wouldn't cause any insult or discontent. It was never her intention to cause anger or upset, but there were moments when she did come across the wrong way. Nevertheless, she wasn't granted various much opportunity to dwell on the issue as Iroxide continued with his activities and set about rousing the slumbering stallion from his sleep.

...Dulph was one of the more pleasant individuals she had met when they first woke up in the morning!

"Oh I slept fine," she replied with a small smile. "But you really don't need to get up for me, I would've been fine puttering about on my own..."

Iroxide paused at Fran's words. He took a moment to lift his head so the scar along his throat was visible before continuing to hurry about doing for his equine friends. When he had finished getting everything together for them, he disappeared back into the storage area after giving Dulph a meaningful look.

Biddulphia didn't seem to notice the look from the lizard. At Fran's words he nodded slightly, "My rest was sufficient for my needs, though I appreciate your thought. Shall we break fast?" His inquiry was polite but still without evident emotion.

Biddulphia had no idea what was appropriate for morning conversation. He knew there was likely some protocol for the situation he was missing and only hoped to be able to pick up cues from his guest. He certainly wanted to impress her, or at least not be more uncouth than he had already been. Waiting for her to answer or move towards the food first, Dulph watched her expectantly while trying not to stare.

Of course, watching her, Dulph one again took in the sight of his guest and friend. Her green eyes bright with morning wakefulness danced in the low light of the cave. Her short cropped mane, a bit disheveled, framed her face. Biddulphia was sure she was what anyone would consider attractive. Once again he wondered that she chose to remain in his company.

Ah, well, an injury of that severity would put a bit of a spanner in the works whenever it came to communicating. The Usdia could concede at that point, though she still wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea of being waited upon in such an attentive manner - it just wasn't her. She hadn't been raised in a pampered environment and throughout her adventures with Solstice she hadn't slept anywhere comfortable either. Suffice to say that the tiny mare was accustomed to sleeping rough and making do, odd as it might have seemed, she liked it that way!

"Well - you could always try charades next time?" she offered to Iroxide as he disappeared into the back store and left Fran in Dulph's company. Again, she was hit with a sense of embarassment as there was no need for everyone to be awake when she was - oi, but the ways of the Kawani, or basic etiquette were largely lost on the mare. Apparently her time away from home had ensured that she was more used to being rude than presentable in public.

...She'd make for an awful hostess.

"I think he'd be good at charades," she observed, addressing Dulph now that he was awake and appeared to have no inclination to return to sleep. For the time being, she'd have to cast aside that embarassment and accept that she was in the company of those who did things the right way. "Breakfast would be brilliant though," she continued, leaping from one subject to the next with considerable ease. It was at this point that she lifted her leg and pointed to the food Iroxide had provided.

"You pick first this time," she remarked and offered a smile. "I insist."

Biddulphia nodded, "He had proven to be of decent skill with charades. I do not know if he previously was with another Soquili, but he seems more knowledgeable than I in regards to social customs."

Taking a step forward at Fran's insistence, Dulph looked over the selection the lizard had provided them. Hay, pine cones, sun dried blueberries, a few wild onions and carrots, and a portion of a honey comb. Dulph had thanked his thick hide the day he had found that treasure. Knowing there was more of the honeycomb back in the stores, he left it for Fran and took a portion of the blueberries and some hay to get started with.

"I hope you find something you will enjoy." Biddulphia waited to partake of his food until his guest had chosen her own. Watching her, he had a fleeting wistful thought of how nice it would be for her to stay here. But Dulph knew she had people to see and that he was not the kind of companion a mare like her would seek out. So he put the thought away.

Okay, so social etiquette might have gone out the window again whenever she took a closer look at the food. Her eyes became as round as saucers as she regarded the selection, particularly when she came to observe the honeycomb and the blueberries. When she'd travelled around she'd always been subject to nice, sweet foods, but there were some that were so rare that 'delicacy' didn't even cover it - it should have come at no surprise that she permitted herself to gape and after a moment, motioned with her hoof to both.

"How did you get those?" she murmured incredulously and shook her head. It was evident that she had never been presented with such foods before - well, she'd never been presented with such foods by a soquili. Once or twice she and Solstice may have pilfered supplies from humans, but they had strange hands that allowed them to access such things more readily! "I mean I've seen them, but they're nearly impossible to get ahold of," she squeaked before lowering her head to sniff at each curiously - sure enough, they were what she thought they were.

It was only with a slight hesitation that she snipped away some of the honeycomb and the blueberries, leaving the other foods until after she had sampled both these delicacies. Suffice to say that the young mare was determined to embrace this opportunity while it was there - she knew well enough that it would be along time before she would ever encounter it again. In fact, she might even have hazarded a guess that unless she visited Dulph again, she'd probably never see it!

Dulph hadn't realized the blueberries would be such a treat. That the honeycomb was rare didn't surprise him. Nodding towards the berries, "I found a bush with those shortly after I woke. Iroxide helped gather them, his small claws made the attempt possible. When I tried picking any they simply turned to paste and juice.

"The honeycomb was a lucky find. The hive had been knocked from it's tree during a storm. It took most of an afternoon to lose the bees that had survived the storm. Most of the rest of the hive is still in the storage area. Had I wished to risk losing the honey to a trip under the river things might have resolved more quickly. But eventually the bees lost my trail or died. I am fortunate that my hide is thick and I seem to have no allergy to the stings. Even with that it was a few days before I was able to move without pain. I count myself lucky that none stung near my eyes. Please eat your fill. There is more and sharing it will make it's value greater."

"Well I can't say that hooves are terribly good for that sort of thing," Francesca conceded, pursing her lips at the fact that more than once, she had come into trouble for not having the right appendages. That being said, she wouldn't have been herself without them and while she might have occasionally envied those with hands, it was a fleeting emotion. She would sooner have all her hair, than have hands, be balding and therefore forced to wear the skins of other creatures to stay warm (or plants, depending on the individual). It was too close to a 'skinwalker' for comfort, at least to her.

Still, the more she listened to the stallion, the more she realised that the elusive individual was more enigmatic than she first thought. He seemed to have a preference for privacy and isolation, and yet here he was, embarking on a dramatic quest to acquire rare and exotic treats. There was more to Dulph than met the eye, even if he elected to disagree!

"At least there were no immediate casualties, bee stings heal pretty quickly as opposed to broken limbs," she grinned and continued to nibble on her treats, though she was careful not to devour too many. Now that she knew what he'd been through to get them, he should at least be able to enjoy most of it himself. When she left to see her family, she needed to make sure he had plenty to last him...it was only fair.

"Thank you though, your generosity will be well remembered. It's not every day I meet someone like you, it's quite the privilege," she remarked with a smile.
