The_Burdock_Fairy WickedLemon I know I'm a good person with a very big heart but it's just so hard for me to believe that and believe in myself because of all those who said I was worthless, etc. Even now I have people that tell me that I'm going to Weight Watchers just so I can get skinny and meet a man. It has nothing to do with me wanting to improve my health and appearance. Just tell them the men that mind (weight) don't matter, and the ones that matter won't mind, and that you are entitled to do something nice for yourself and your health! heart

Well, I really do plan on talking to my doctor(s). I just don't know whether I should talk to my female doctor first or my PCP. I need to schedule with my female doctor sooner than my PCP so maybe I will start there.
One of my major concerns with taking some sort of medication to help me feel better is the sexual side effects. Not that I have anyone in my life right now but you just never know. I don't want to be on some medication that could perhaps effect a relationship. I may not be explaining this right but this is my biggest fear.

They are probably as well of not better equipped to deal with your questions as any. Some have more side effects than others, and your doctor should know alot about that, too ((((HUGS)))) good luck

::creeps in sheepishly:: Okay all... first off, I'm sorry I haven't been around. I've sort of been in "hide and pretend it will all go away" mode, so.... ::shuffles her feet:: Anyway, Lizzy told me y'all were having a discussion of total confusion on how breedables work and such like. So, having immersed myself in them, I thought I'd come and help out! (Do y'all mind?)
And to start ita ll off, let me dispel ONE myth! You do not need to know a ThiNG about graphics or how they work in order to become involved in breedables. I have nothing but plain old Paint on my puter myself. ::sighs wistfully:: Oh well. BUT! I can still be an active participant in the breedables!
Second thing! I personally have the most fun playing my pets. Yes, I mean roleplay. HOWEVER! If rp is not your style, that's fine too! While a few breedable shops are "roleplay required", most are not. This means you can buy your pet and just keep it for looks or for breeding to others from the shop. Some shops, while not requiring rp, may require you to show up and post a hello or other such "I'm here and interested still!" sort of post.
Third thing! If you have more than one pet and you want to cycle them through your signature, I have an excellent place to do it! Please PM me about it! (It takes a bit of extra sharing to give the code to you for your sig so it will fit, is all.)
Generally, there are five ways to obtain a pet from a breedable shop. The first and most common is the FLATSALE. This is when they display the available pets and at the appointed time, allow people to claim the pet they want. Sometimes this involves a game (rp, match my roll, find a picture), sometimes it's just plain who can post the fastest for their desired pet.
A second, sometimes most expensive way to acquire a pet is at an AUCTION. It is just like it sounds... people bid on a pet, which usually drives the price pretty high. (I generally avoid these!) These are usually the method for selling specially made pets.
A third way is through a raffle. I've had pretty good luck with this method, lol! Sometimes it is a free raffle, and entrants get ONE entry each. Others are ones you pay for your tickets. Most I've seen that are like this have an unlimited amount you can buy. When the ticket sales are closed, they draw the winners, most of the time using Gaia's own random number system. (This is really nice, since it guarentees that the one drawing isn't cheating and picking who they want to win!)
A fourth means of getting a pet is by buying a custom pet. THese are usually more expensive than a flatsale pet, since you get to dictate what the pet looks like. It is nice, though, to be able to tell them what colors, patterns, and markings you would like on your pet. The other drawback besides cost is that shops do not always have a slot open for customs. This is purely up to the shop owners and colorists.
And the fifth most common way to get a pet is through a kind soul who offers you a baby from their breeding. ::grins:: In fact, if anyone in interested, I have one wolf puppy still available from a recent Moonlit Shadows breeding I had done! (PM me if you are interested! They are purple and blue!) Of course, this USUALLY takes knowing the person rather well, but sometimes even strangers are generous. (I know an equine shop where this happens regularly!)
Whew. I've run out of things I can think of to explain without having it directly asked of me. Can I be of any more help? Any questions y'all have about getting a breedable pet?

OH! And please please PLEASE don't feel stupid concerning the breedables! When I first wanted to get involved with them, I was HUGELY intimdated by the whole thing and felt overwhelmed. Then Nibbles introduced me to Eftemie ::waves to her:: who gently introduced me to how things work. Nibbles gave me my first pet, and it was all downhill from there! It IS scary to first wade in by yourself... which is why I'm offering to help get you started in a couple of kind and loving shops I'm in.

I will agree that it's a bit overwhelming looking around those shops because I don't understand things at all. Neonibbles did mention your shop but I couldn't find it to check it out.
I do know some of them are quite pricy so my meesly 8000 gold isn't much right now.

My partner is on Wellbutrin which is supposed to have almost none, and she has lost her entire libido. I have been on 3 differnet meds, 2 of which supposedly had huge sexual side effects, and have never once been affected. In fact, when I was first put on Prozac, it increased. I'm on Lexapro now, which is reputed to have the lowest of all potential side effects. So most of THAT is made up by your own body chemistry and situation.

Part of the trick, though, is knowing WHEN a shop is doing it's next flatsale, and being available at that time. ::nods:: Some shops (like that equine shop I mentioned) have adoptions for pets whose owners have abandoned the shop or that paricular pet. Adoptions are usually priced lower than flatsales.
