xxxxx"If you're worried about surviving, xxxxxxxyou can worry about it after you're dead!" "The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!"
"Hmph!" Vaida thrust down her spear into the last bandit around her. Others may have been alive, but were most likely being dealt with. "Scum of the earth..." She spat on the bandit she had just slain. "Soldier! What of the hostages?""They're all fine, Ma'am! Shall we begin the escort back to Eyris?" Vaida looked to see her soldiers tending to the hostages. She gave a proud grin, then turned back to the soldier. "Yes, do so immediately! Make sure Heath knows, too." The soldier went to give the order and Vaida went back to scanning the field. Just then, a squeaky sound came from behind. In response, Vaida whirled her spear and held the tip of it to the girl's head. "Halt! Drop your weapons and identify yourself!!" Meanwhile, Mihira was bandaging a villager's arm. When she finished, she smiled at the boy. "Are you alright, now?" The boy looked up bright-eyed and nodded. "Good. Don't worry, we'll make sure you and your family get to Eyris." She patted him on the shoulder then stood up. Corpses were all over the place. The better the children were taken from such a horrible sight, the better.
Seeing the bandits lying motionless reminded Mihira about Lorelei. With the fighting over, it was the best time to search for the letters. She began to cover the field, but came up empty the more she looked. But as she got closer to the center, the white of paper caught her eye. "Ah!" She jogged over and knelt down, then carefully picked up the papers. "Envelopes... Maybe these are the letters!" She darted up, then looked around for Lorelei. There was no pegasus in the sky, but... there was one by Commander Vaida!
As Mihira approached, she saw her commander move her spear and hold it up to Lorelei. Her eyes widened and she began to run. "C-commander, wait! She's harmless!" Mihira pulled the girl away from the weapon, then stood in front of it. "She's just a mail carrier..." She showed Lorelei the letters. "Are these the ones you're missing?"Vaida arched a brow. "Mail carrier, eh..? I guess you're the unit that fell from the sky." She lowered her spear. "I don't know who the hell sent you to Learania to deliver letters, but it's not exactly safe to be flying around. We're in the middle of a war. Unless you have some letters that need to go to Eyris, you should go back to wherever you came from. But if you do have letters for Eyris, don't go flying off by yourself. We will escort you. Is that clear?"

Lend me your ear!
...Heed my words. ℜogvald xxxxxWith the fading of the battle, the old man appeared. Those who practiced banditry were no more in the village. The Learanian army had accomplished their mission and the request the old man gave had been fulfilled. None saw him approach. None saw him at all. But perhaps they were just too busy to notice.
xxxxxThe old man scooted along with baby steps until he found the blue-haired boy. He helped the child up and placed a cloak around him. "Ah, there you are, my boy! Good, good, you appear to be unharmed. I can rest easy. To think those vile cretins laid a hand on you... Despicable! You have much strength to have endured, James. Endurance is an essential quality, remember that." He placed an arm around the boy and began to lead him towards Learania's Dragon Lady. "But come on, come on, it has passed us now. We must move forward! Remember that I told you that you could not hide forever? Well, now is the time, my boy. Learania is in dire shape! Do not worry though, I will make the arrangements. Just stand tall."
The two grew near to Vaida, the Guard commander, and a petty conversation of letters and whatnot was taking place. How ridiculous. The woman needed to pay attention to something far more important! "Ahem!" the old man cough, to get her attention. "You there, scarred woman! You will personally escort this boy on your mount back to Eyris. And you over there, with the white streak in your hair! You shall carry me. Do not dispute! Refusal does not go over well with nobility, I assure you. And when we arrive, I demand an audience with the Captain! We have many important things... to discuss."
I advise you to listen. Not doing so could prove... deadly.
