Lacey was in the bathroom for a while. She heard the music stop while she was washing her hands and staring in the mirror. By the time she actually left the restroom, the band started to play again. She walked slowly down the hallway toward the action. Before she made it out of the hallway, a guy with light blue hair walked toward her. She walked closer to the right side of the hallway so that she wouldn't be in the way. The guy walked right up to her, making her stop and take a step back. She gasped softly from the scary look the guy gave her.
"Don't go anywhere near Wells," he demanded harshly, "got it!?" Without waiting for her response, he continued down the hall.
Lacey stood there in shock for a moment before looking at the guys retreating back. What was his problem and whom was he talking about? She looked back out into the crowd. A sigh escaped her lips before she started to walk out of the hallway. Why was tonight so weird? Maybe it was this place. She made her way to the bar to order another drink. Too bad there wasn't more room somewhere else other than her original seat. She felt embarrassed just being near it. After she got her drink, she planned on going someone else to enjoy it. It's not like she drank fast enough to chill at the bar anyway. She rested her forearms on the counter and leaned forward a bit; waiting for Christoph to finish what he was doing. Although, he didn't seem to be doing anything that important at the moment.

Christoph noticed the young woman who said she played the bass guitar come back to the bar. She was fidgeting slightly and kept glancing at him, so he slid over casually and said, "You know, I don't think I caught your name."
He looked at her while he waited, and something about her struck him as familiar. Not in a 'Oh, she's been here at the bar before' familiar way, but in a different familiar way. He just couldn't put his finger on it...

"I'm Lacey," she replied as she looked up at him. She pushed a strand of her long dark hair behind her ear before saying anything else. "May I have another drink please?" She looked away when it felt like he was peering into her somehow. It took her a few seconds to realize that she didn't tell him what she wanted. "Oh anything is fine." She glanced back up at him as she spoke. Even though she said he could give her anything, she definitely didn't want beer or wine. Then again, maybe she never tried a good kind. In fact, she only had boxed wine before. Still, she wasn't in the mood for wine anyway. She'll just have to be happy with whatever he gives her.

▪ × × × × × ▪ A small smile, worn almost jokingly, as if it'd been mistakenly allowed into the open. Then, the smile parted and the answers he had been waiting for were given. Simply, without flair, emphasis or any true example that might tell Daniel what sort of person Gavin was. In a way, he found Gavin's nonchalance refreshing; show-folk and musicians were usually so dramatic, full of enthusiasm or other extreme individual facets. Gavin was... laid back? That seemed about right. A little more go-with-the-flow than his own dreaminess.
As for the uncertainty of Gavin's band playing, Daniel reacted with a slight sound of disappointment. Otherwise he made no comment, as it wasn't his place to make a request of other musicians. Still, the hope was there, just under his easy composure and wide-eyed curiosity. One song and he'd be happy - Gavin and his friends had a certain sound that he liked to listen to. The same went for the string band on stage now, although they were an entirely different realm of pleasure for the blond-haired man.
Sighing faintly as Gavin left, too sudden for Daniel to respond in any kind, the youthful looking male spent a moment watching his tea darken. The bag was fully soaked by now and the fragrant scent was all he could smell with his head bent low to feel the steam slide past his skin. Removing it and depositing the finished bag on a napkin to discard, Daniel added a bit of sugar to sweeten and took a tiny, testing sip. Putting the cup aside to cool some, his soft eyes lifted to indulge as the string trio played on. Below the table, one foot swayed in time with the up-beat song, and he cupped his chin in one hand, more relaxed than he'd been all day. ▪ × × × × × ▪

Christoph laughed as he began to pull down a glass for Lacey's drink. "It's one of the perks of being the owner of this place." He shrugged, then turned his attention to the empty glass.
He was often asked by customers for drinks and never given exact details. His regulars trusted him to make good choices and the new ones looked for excitement. Christoph held up the glass and stared through it at Lacey, trying to figure out what she would like. It was always important to make each drink an experience. He wasn't a world-class chef or expert mixologist, but he had year and years and years of experience under his belt and a talent for pegging what customers wanted, even if they didn't know that they wanted it.
Christoph suddenly had an idea. A man had come in once in 1994 and had ordered something called an Aviation Cocktail. Christoph had never heard of it, but the Haunted Music Box always helped him out in tight spots. It provided him with a drink mixing book by someone named Hugo Ensslin that contained the recipe. He'd also found a rare ingredient among his light liquors whose production had been discontinued in 1969. It was Creme d'Yvette, a key ingredient to this cocktail. The man had been astounded when Christoph had handed it to him and confessed that he was Hugo Ensslin's grandson. He had not believed anyone could make the Aviation Cocktail because of the near extinction of Creme d'Yvette since its discontinuation. He had thanked Christoph profusely and had left, leaving a check of ten thousand dollars as payment. Of course, Christoph had donated the money to a local school.
Christoph decided to make the Aviation Cocktail once again for Lacey. He pulled out the Creme d'Yvette, a bottle of Right gin from Sweden, and some Luxardo maraschino liqueur. He winked at Lacey and said, "This is a drink that's extremely rare. I could very well be the only bar in the world that can make this. It's from pre-Prohibition, so watch closely." With dramatic moves, he filled a mixing glass with halfway with ice. In went the gin, followed by the maraschino liqueur and the Creme d'Yvette. He topped it with a little lemon juice and stirred the mixture quickly and thoroughly. Then he plucked up a martini glass from his collection of glasses and carefully poured the bluish mixture into it.
"One Aviation Cocktail." He carefully handed Lacey the glass. "Don't tell anyone." He winked again.

Lacey looked over to Kiniri for a moment. Her comment was a bit weird. Old? How old was he really? He eyes traveled back to Christoph. He was looking at her through the glass. She leaned back slightly as her mouth opened slightly. The feeling she felt was hard to explain. Surprised maybe? Who knows really, but this time she didn't look away. She watched his every move like normal. Of course, if he didn't tell her to do so at the beginning; then she wouldn't have. She just wasn't in the mood. It was interesting because she didn't really know about the ingredient involved. It's not like she was such an expert to know everything. She just liked trying things and learned that way. A small smile appeared on her lips as she continued to watch. Lacey laughed slightly after he gave her the glass with his trademark wink. It was a soft short laugh. "Thanks," she replied in her usual delicate tone. ((Sorry it might be a bit short and whatnot...I am about to leave for a day roadtrip. Haha))

Gavin added a bit of sugar and cream to his tea. He liked added cream to soften the sharp flavors of dark teas. A bit of sugar, he felt, brought out the flavor more. He blew gently on the surface of the tea. The swirls of steam moved sharply in the opposite direction before rising like normal again. He placed his lips on the rim of the mug before take a small sip. A soft smile appeared on his lips. It was perfect. He put it back on the table to let it cool for a moment.
"Is it good?" Elijah asked after Gavin took a sip. He didn't notice the small smile because the cup covered it.
Gavin gave a simple nod in response. He doesn't reveal his smiles very often, but he wouldn't care if Elijah saw or not. After all, they were close friends and he almost always felt comfortable around him.
That was when the bassist came back to the table with another beer. "Thanks for getting me one!" Elijah teased. In reality, he was only half way done with his second one. He always drank the first one fast, but took his time with the rest. Depending on his mood, he might switch up the pace now and then.

Christoph smiled as Lacey thanked him, then spotted a spot on the bar.
"...The hell?" Frowning, he scrubbed at it. It faded, then returned. He scrubbed it again. It came back, larger this time.
"What do you think you're doing?" Christoph looked up at the ceiling, making sure there weren't any bodies nailed up there or anything. Those kinds of things happened in movies, after all. He peered over the edge of the bar, checking for bodies there too. But there was nothing. He glared at the spot and concentrated on it. It receded little by little until it vanished.
"Don't come back till after hours, you got me?" He turned around, sighing with relief. It seems the Haunted Music Bo wanted to go through another redecorating. Every two hundred or three hundred years, it got bored of its current look and decided to change. The stain was merely the beginning of its transformation. Transformation always took two weeks, and once it started, couldn't be interrupted. That meant closing the bar and canceling gigs. He groaned at that thought. There was some promising new talent, too. He hated canceling on entertainment.

▪ × × × × × ▪ String instruments were his favorite. Of all those available in the musical world, he would have to choose those of wood and string. The depth of emotion that could be pulled out from a set of thin, nearly translucent strings was... astounding. Literal heart-strings, set and trimmed to satisfy and encourage, pulled taut to tantalize, held together so that every range of desired sentiment could be reached.
His lips parted as a low sigh passed between them, lingering as a familiar longing grew inside him. By now, his tea had cooled to a drinkable level and so he reached for it. A delicate sip was taken, then a second, trickling smoothly down his throat. His tongue picked up on all the subtle flavors of his chosen tea and he 'hmmed' a quiet sound of delight. Pen scrawling an idle thought onto his mostly-filled sheet, he glanced up as a sound of heels stopped before his table.
"Hey Daniel. Long time no see. You skippin' classes or did Professor Trelawn bore you out the door?" Was asked of him, voice cool, composed and elegantly mischievous. Daniel's eyes rounded as he recognized the leader of the string trio - the lead violinist attended the same university as him. Realizing what class she was talking about, his cheeks flooded with color. Oh. That. Shaking his head quickly, he stammered a soft, nonchalant response of sorts. She nodded, and then leaned in closer, tapping his notebook with a finely manicured hand.
"So. You abandon your classes and sit here writing all day? How about sharing some of your songs? I really enjoyed that new one you composed last month. 'Lovely Secret', I think? C'mon, Torrance, the girls and I will back you up. Sing us a song and we'll treat you later, okay?" The young woman inquired gently, eyes a beautiful shade of amber, her mannerisms both bold and sensitive.
Daniel gulped. Well, she always had been the sort to avoid beating around the bush. Eying his notebook where her hand lay, he took a breath, another, then belatedly nodded. She gasped happily and immediately took his hand to tug him along after her. The slender blond continued to stammer as he inquired about an instrument and asking Christoph and so forth. Instead of a moment to ready himself, she led him right up on stage.
"Don't worry. Millie brought her spare viola. You play that aside form the cello, correct? Oh, and I'm sure Christoph will appreciate the change; I said I loved your song didn't I?" She chuckled a little, nodding towards her friend Millie, whom was unlatching a black case and extracting an exquisite antique viola. Emerald-blue orbs widened like saucers as he was given it to play. "What about you ladies? I never showed you the score... It's... At home."
At this, the three of them exchanged glances and rolled their eyes simultaneously. Millie was the one to speak up as the lead lady went to retrieve her violin. "Hun, you did turn in 'Lovely Secret' to Professor Trelawn. He was kind enough to loan us a copy... in case. Y'know?" She winked afterward, the devilishness of her statement causing Daniel to flush deeper. "...Alright... then... Only if you're sure..."
He turned, blinking as the lights dimmed throughout the bar and a soft spotlight filtered down from above. Collecting himself, Daniel grit his teeth as he took a set on a high stool, posing as he brought the viola to his right shoulder - he was ambidextrous, but he preferred playing as a lefty. As the seconds ticked by, he adjusted the viola's strings and a mic was produced to sit before him. Blond curls glowed as the onlookers grew alert, noticing a newcomer to the stage. ▪ × × × × × ▪

Christoph sensed a subtle shift in the Haunted Music Box's mood. There was uncertainty, hesitancy, and a little anticipation all mixed in together. He looked towards the stage and was surprised to see Daniel being led up by the lead violinist. She handed him a viola, which the kid handled like a pro. The Haunted Music Box began to draw attention to the stage.
They began to play together. The harmony was beautiful, the melody exquisite and intricate without being ostentatious. The entire bar slowly came to a standstill, falling under the spell that only perfect music creates. There was no clinking of glasses as they were set down on tables, no quiet hum of voices as they conferred together. Only the music, flawless in its form and execution, could be heard.

▪ × × × × × ▪ His heart. From the way it was pounding in his chest, it felt as though he might faint on the spot from overexertion. Breath after breath, he slowed its rapid tempo, taking his nerves, balling them up and tossing them away. Calm was key for him, to be able to play, to be able to keep a steady rhythm.
From behind, the first chords of his aptly named 'Lovely Secret' began to play. Mille led on her cello, low and mysterious as a tide guiding a spread of somber ocean water. Following, the woman bearing a rare, but beautiful viola d'amore. It's sympathetic strings give it a particularly sweet and warm sound, and, with the stillness of the Music Box so absolute, it's voice was especially charming. Finally, the lead violinist, Betia, joined in. Strong, precise and remorseful, her violin passionately sang, keening somberly as the trio combined their instruments to produce a sound... Inadvertently melancholy, tipped towards wistful and melodious. Sweet, but underlined by a yearning so sharp it's sound could only be found in the heavy lean of Daniel's bow upon the viola's thick strings.
As the music peaked, the trio backed off according to the sheet music they'd magically produced. One by one, until only Betia's violin could be heard, softer now, as Daniel's arms lowered and his mouth ghosted above the mic's rounded end. Then, in the silence of abated breathing, he sang. Not loudly, not softly, but in a heart-wrenching quiet timbre, an octave lower than his usual speaking voice and glistening, each note held with crystalline precision. His voice held a tender lilt, impassioned as the words he impressed upon the watching crowd, with only a sliver of his green eyes visible beneath his lowered lids.
"Let me know your secrets... It's time to let them go. I don't care for reasons... I'm not the one in control.
Hold me closer. We're hardly strangers... anymore. Don't you know the difference? Friends will lift you up; and send you through the door.
I can barely stand it...! Silence can be a sin. All I need is what you have, low whisper in the wind.
Please... I need to know - those lovely, lovely secrets... C'mon and let me... in."
Exhaling one last time, Daniel's eyes slid open. Bashfully, he murmured a quiet 'thank you' before slipping off the stool, intending to return Millie's precious viola before his shaking hands dropped it.
{{ Thanks! <3 ...totally just made that song up, lmaoooo! }}

Lacey wrapped her fingers around the stem of the glass and took a small sip of her rare drink. A smile spread across her lips. The drink was exceptionally good. It almost made her forget about what that guy said in the hallway. Her big eyes stared at the pretty blue color. This drink was simply amazing.
That was when she noticed Christoph acting a bit weird. Was he talking to the ceiling? Lacey suddenly realized that she could ask him who 'Wells' was. After all, he would probably know. He seemed to know a lot in general. The probably was that she isn't very good at speaking up. She fiddled with her fingers while they still stayed hovering around the glass. "Uh...excu..." she started softly before getting distracted by the girl next to her. What was her name again? Oh yea...Kiniri.
Lacy gave a soft smile and turned around to face the band; drink in hand. That was around the time that the messy blond hair guy was being ushered to the stage. She tilted her head slightly to the side while taking a couple steps away from the bar. Her eyes stayed fixated on him the whole time. A big smile spread across her face this time. She was sure that it was his song. One that he wrote. It was beautiful. If only she could have people play her own songs, but she was too shy. Plus, she always thought they could be better. Never perfect enough. Suddenly, she wanted to try singing. It was something she never did before so she dismissed the thought immediately. Compared to singers that have been doing it all there lives; she sucked...probably.

╔═≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎═╗♫ Gavin & Wells ♫ ╚═≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎═╝ Gavin took another sip of his tea. The sweet and smooth flavor slipped down his throat. Tea was always something that calmed him, even though he never really needed to be calmer. Sometimes it would take him to another place. Somewhere no one else seemed to go. Why was that? Anyone would probably like a place like that. It was refreshing, free to be whatever you wanted it to be.
His eyes lifted to look at the stage. Daniel was up on stage. So he plays a viola? The song they were about to play; was probably his own. After all, he did have a pen and notepad at the table earlier. What else would he have one for in a place like this? Well, technically he could be taking notes or something like that. Daniel started to sing when Gavin was in mid sip. He forced himself to swallow it and looked at the stage while setting down his teacup. Then the song ended and Daniel tried to return the viola. The crowd seemed quiet with shock. That was when Gavin stood up abruptly and slammed his hands on the table, making a loud noise echo throughout the place. His olive eyes bore into Daniel as the crowd started to cheer. It was almost as if his hands hitting the table made everyone clap. Maybe they thought he was trying to start a standing ovation. Without another thought, he walked swiftly away from the table and out the front doors. His eyes stayed focused on the door the whole time.
Elijah watched the group, with their added member, quietly. It was the first time he was quiet since he arrived at the bar that night. When the song was over, he watched as Gavin got up and left. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he made a slightly face. He bit his lip in thought. Before he could go after his band mate; the bassist started talking. His green eyes watched the door slam shut before turning to look at his other friend.
