He said nothing as he walked calmly over to her bed and sat down upon it, leaning forward to run his hands through his hair as he did when something vexed him, one of his many tales when he was overburdened with something. He held his gaze to the ground, his shoulders tensed as if trying to rid himself of some burden. He finally looked up with a dull gaze, as if he was seeing all that he was explaining.
"It all started when Marxes threatened to murder you and our child if I didn't kill some woman. At first I didn't believe him, but when I came home one day there he was in our home as a...guest...acting as friendly as ever, all the while flexing his threat all the more. He had gotten to you twisting his lies around you, apparently his lie was he was my...uncle, you remember. He was wolf in sheep's clothing and he knew how to get under someone's skin. So that night I sought out to do his biding...I was appalled to find out the woman they wanted me to kill was Eshe's lover. I completed my task in secrecy with poison. No one was the wiser, and returned to Marxes to regain my families safety...but it wasn't that simple. There was another job, and another after that, and another...I bloodied my hands till I couldn't bare it anymore...so I went to Eshe." He dropped his head at the name as if feeling a great pain to his heart.
"I told him everything...including the name of the woman who I first murdered. He had his guards seize me, concocted a routine of torture, mind games, and a daily ritual where he wanted me to admit I was wrong...but I could not. I could not say I was sorry for any of it, because I made my decision for the safety of my family. I would bare this sin alone for you...and for our son. Eshe later met up with you...our son was gone...and you've been in the dark ever since. Forgive my failure to protect you...forgive me for doing what I've done...and forgive me for not being able to be there all these years..." he said softly. The truth was out...he had nothing more to say. His long white hair drooped in front of his face as he sat there. Finally...his shoulders relaxed...

As Helios weaved his tale Lanryel thought back to those moments he spoke of. She did remember the first time she had met Marxes. Why wouldn't she have trusted someone who claimed to be a relative of her beloved? Demons were not always seen first as evil back when it had happened - the peace was still in place between the two major races of their world - more that they tended to be more chaotic. Besides he had seemed to know so much about Helios that she hadn't thought twice about believing him. Now she cursed her naivety and for being so easily beguiled by the vile demon's deceit.
Then he spoke of death and that he had been forced to do horrible deeds. The most prominent was the murder of Cecille, Eshe's soulmate and lover he had been preparing to marry before the fateful event. No one had been discovered guilty of the crime publicly as she could remember, recalling The relentless searching of the heartbroken Eshe. She also remembered when he had announced that the culprit had been found and dealt with...and no name had ever been given and no one pushed the grieving king for more information.
"All this time...you were right here in the palace?" she asked weakly barely above a whisper as her voice began to fail her. Lanryel looked longingly at Helo for some time as her thoughts and heart raged within her. All at once she was upset that Helios had committed criminal acts on Marxes orders though understanding that it was out of love and desire to see her and Shiro unharmed. She was remorseful for not having realized that he had practically been right under her nose for 18 years and she had not the slightest clue. She was growing more and more hurt by the second that Eshe had lied to her so easily and again she had believed without questioning.
How could he do that to Helios, his friend, knowing that she had nearly been dying inside a little each day that she had been apart from the demon? It was because Helios had taken his love from him...and that must have seemed like a fair trade for him, or at least his own vengeance needed an outlet. Lanryel couldn't believe it of Eshe to intentionally want to hurt her in the process, but now that the truth was there before her she could not deny that the elven king had lied to her.
Slowly she stepped out of the shadows after him and approached. Lanryel took in every scratch, scar, and discoloration that plagued his flesh. The rings of grime from the collar he had worn seemed even darker in the light of her room. He looked like a shell of the man she used to know, the man she was still very much in love with. Carefully she knelt before him and as she moved his hair from his face Lanryel caressed his face with both hands and pulled him into a deep kiss that she had dreamed about since his disappearance.
After some time she pulled back and looked up at him. "Helo...you need to leave this place. I will not see you return to imprisonment so long as I am able to help you. Take some time to regain your energy, hide from Eshe's reach, and above all else wait for me. There is something I need to take care of before I can disappear from this kingdom...and I won't stand to lose you again." Lanryel understood now what she had to do. Shiro and Thenia would be leaving soon and she would accompany them regardless of Eshe's please for her to remain behind.
That would give her time to consider how to handle this situation and a chance to see that Marxes was punished for all of his evil deeds. She didn't want to send him away already, but she knew Eshe or one of the servants in the castle might appear any moment and take him from her again. Quickly she threw her arms around him again and clung close to him with her head on his chest. "Promise me you will not act until you have returned to full health..."

Helios promised Lanryel and soon after escaped from the palace. He would meet her at the promised place. The place was a familiar part of their past, it was where both he and Lanryel fell in love with one another for the first time. It was a small cabin with a lake in the background and thick shrubbery that mad it secluded enough to meet, even if it lied within the boundaries of Eshe's kingdom still. There he would bathe himself, change into a set of clothing Lanryel had prepared for him, and dine on the meal his beloved had also prepared, a meal of slightly sweetened meat, maple buttered rolls, and a few potatoes. He chuckled at the quantity she gave as he sat there at the lakeside enjoying his first real meal since he had escaped. He would often stare at his reflection in the waters still shocked at how different he looked. They truly did a number on him. He ventured to the cabin to rest his eyes and wait peacefully for Lanryel to rejoin him. Meanwhile...
Shiro stood there in that dark cell for what seemed forever until he finally mustered up the courage to leave. Thankfully no guard had been posted yet, and he left the dungeon without so much of a hitch. He ran down the corridors remembering the promise he had made to Thenia, and made his way quickly to the balcony to meet her. Should he tell her what had happened to him? No, now was not the time to worry her about such actions. In the distance he spotted Thenia awaiting him calmly upon the balcony gazing up at the stars. He paused and smiled as he watched her, all other thoughts seemed to be put on hold at the mere sight of her. Why was he so enamored with her? Why did his heart flutter so? Could this be love? He snapped from his thoughts, and sped forward to join her, stepping out onto the balcony, beholding a brilliant view of the entirety of Eshe's kingdom, but even more splendid was that of the stars. It seemed their world had three moons, and this two had Shiro gazing upwards, awestruck by the beauty of such a place before looking down to Thenia.
"Thenia...," he spoke softly as he let his gaze embrace her every feature. He could no longer hold in the complex thoughts and emotions he felt for this girl, and stepped towards her till he was only within arms reach of her. "I have something to tell you...it's about our time together, and how I've began to feel for you since that day. I don't know if you feel the same way...but every time your near me...you make my chest feel funny. My mind loses focus, and I grow nervous as if I was trying to impress you, and every time we part...I yearn to be next to you once again...I don't care if you don't feel the same way...I just had to get this off of my chest, and to warn you that...I think I'm falling in love with you," he chided quietly without breaking eye contact. His gaze was soft, and his complexion reddened slightly as he stood there awaiting her reply. He would take Lanryel advice and hold dear the things that truly mattered to him. He would make a home here in this world no matter how short lived his time was. His mind doubled back to the prisoner, and how easily he was released. He could remember how tattered the man looked, and wondered if Eshe was really responsible. He quickly tucked away such thoughts and lightly smiled, his heart beating at a rapid pace as he stared upon Thenia with love struck eyes.

With great care Lanryel made arrangements for Helios to escape the palace unnoticed and called upon a friend outside of the palace to set up the safe house for his arrival. It would have been too suspicious for her to leave at that time of day so much as she would have liked to do it all herself she had to rely on the help of those she trusted. Even more than she had trusted Eshe. Her thoughts were with Helios through the entire day as she secluded herself in her room and refused any and all visitors.
Lanyrel could not betray Helios' location and she knew that if she had to look right in Eshe's face then she would be unable to keep herself from asking why he had done such an unforgivable act. She didn't think her heart could stand the pain just yet. In her seclusion she did not remain idle but began preparing things that they would need on the journey to keep them safe. Mostly healing supplies but also some weaponry that she was confident enough to use, mainly certain poisons and substances that could be used to coat something like the tip of an arrow or dagger for added effect.
It was ash she concocted these in particular that the woman thought again of what Helios had done that caused him to be imprisoned. Had Eshe done the same to her, and Helios were in his position, would he have done the same to Eshe? Such troublesome thoughts were her only company as she worked tirelessly through the day and night... Thenia kept to herself for most of the day after Shiro had left. There were still so many things about their situation that she was unsure of and she spent her time brooding in the gardens and her room. What exactly was her father Marxes, and why had he treated her so? It was hard to believe that someone you had been devoted to for an entire lifetime could turn on you so quickly. She wondered how she could trust anyone that much again, then at the same time she felt completely comfortable with her situation at the Elven palace.
Certainly the servants gave her looks and she could hear them muttering, but for the most part they left her alone and were cordial. Lanryel had to be one of the most caring women she had ever met, and to be honest she had not met many other then her servant Ganye. Eshe was a mystery to her but one that she desperately wanted to unravel and discover why she felt as close to him as she did.
Then there was Shiro. Throughout the hours they were apart she frequently discovered that she returned to thinking about him. They were always warm thoughts, and her heart fluttered again like the time he kissed her cheek. Finally it was time to meet him where he had asked her to wait for him. Dinner had long since ended so the dining hall was empty and dark but the natural light from the moon and stars outside bathed the room in bluish silver as she slowly made her way out to the balcony.
It was beautiful that night, perhaps more beautiful than she had ever seen the night sky look before. Silently she wondered if the woman who had spoken to her when she had been unconscious, her mother, was looking down on her from up in the heavens as she turned her eyes skyward. Approaching footsteps alerted her to her company, yet even without looking she sensed it was Shiro. It was hard to explain but she seemed to just sense his presence whenever he was around and it was a nice feeling.
Shiro spoke her name and Thenia finally dropped her gaze from the sky and turned to him. As he spoke she could feel her own cheeks beginning to flush and she remained silent. "I think I'm falling in love with you." His tender words echoed through her head and seemingly through her entire body. Love...was that the feeling that was causing her to act in such a way whenever she saw his brilliantly beautiful face? Slowly she moved closer to him and took his hands, gazing into his deep eyes for just a moment more. "I think I love you too..." she finally murmured before leaning in and kissing him softly on the lips. For whatever reason, it just felt right and knowing that they had a long journey ahead of them Thenia knew there would be time to figure out the details along the way. All she wanted was to be beside Shiro not just to repay the debt she owed him but also because he wanted her to be there with him.

Shiro's eyes lit up, embracing Thenia as her soft supple lips caressed his own. This would certainly be a first time he'd ever fallen in love, and he had absolutely no idea where to go from here. His heart ablaze with passion, and his mind filled with confusion he pulled back and gazed upon her. She was beautiful...everything he ever desired. "Perhaps this adventure won't be so bad...as long as your here next to me..." he chided softly to her. He sat on a nearby stone carved bench holding out his hand, gesturing for her to sit with him. He wanted nothing more but to remain there holding her as he stared up at the skies. He looked up at their splendor as the stars twinkled in the twilight sky, their reflection cascading upon his deep crimson eyes. "Has someone named all of them yet?" he asked changing the subject, his complexion still a hue of red. So much had happened within such a short amount of time. The prisoner he released had simply disappeared leaving a threat of things to come and revealing to him that Eshe still had much he wasn't telling him. Lanryel had also been keeping secrets...painful ones. He had noticed the second week of their arrival there, that each time he spoke with her a sadness showed in her eyes. Perhaps the prisoner was the reason why...he would find out soon enough. Helios sat there in the darkness watching the clouds in the night sky cascade their reflection across the lake, his mind skimming over the events of the night. He had escaped the dungeon he now despised, and somehow managed to reconnect with his beloved. Eighteen years was such a long time, but people aged differently here. The few Hume's he had heard of in his history books had aged quite slowly here, and lived to be a ripe 300 years of age, but even still some have been known to live on for centuries...that is if they made a pact with a devil. He chuckled at the crudeness of the phrase...it was almost amusing to him how they described the bond given from a demon to his loved ones. When a demon falls in love, they share their own life with that significant other, dramatically decreasing their own so that they may prologue the significant other's life. Sure he had dropped a thousand years off of the sentence he called life, but he had so much more time left...nearly fifteen hundred years remained, that is of course if some unfortunate accident didn't befall him first. He dangled his feet inside the still waters of the lake, causing small ripples to emit. The cool water was refreshing and warm. He had destroyed his old tattered clothing in a small fire, removing the only valuable item he had left...a lock of Lanryel hair from before his imprisonment. He longed to enact his revenge, but even more so longed to hold her in his arms again. He glanced back upon the reflection cast from the lake, and noticed his own reflection. He ran his hand upon his broken horns, and sighed. It would take some time to get them to grow back, and until they did, his magic would remain weak. He'd have to find a talented mage around the outskirts whom would mend his broken horns, but that was again on a later agenda. All he wanted to do now was relax and take in every single moment he had free of that dungeon. He would wait there for some time before returning to the small cabin, and turning in for the night. He slept soundly for the first time in many years...and as he slumbered he called out for her..."Lanryel."

Thenia laughed lightly and smiled at Shiro. This moment seemed to have been building up for some time and now that it was out in the open the very air between them seemed warm and welcoming. He was so...wonderfully different and perhaps that was part of his appeal for her. Since meeting Shiro nothing in her life could ever be the same again. She took his hand and allowed herself to be led to the spot next to him, following his gaze as they let the beauty of the moment speak for them.
After a few moments she found herself hugging onto his arm and laying her head on his shoulder. Her breathing fell in time with his, and she could almost hear his heartbeat. With a sigh she closed her eyes and merely reveled in being near what had once appeared to be an ordinary Hume. "I do not think it would be possible to name all of them, but there are certain groupings that have names." Thenia replied softly not knowing that it was a similar idea to Hume astrology. Raising her hand she pointed out a few of the ones that were visible and explained their names and what they represented.
When she was younger one of the older maids that was no longer with them at the castle had explained them all to her, and Thenia had taken to loving the night sky. "Legend also has it that great heroes of the past become stars once they pass from this world. I'd like to think my mother is among them..." Thenia whispered before becoming silent again. Why did thinking about her mother hurt so much more than it had in a long time? Seeing and speaking with her in her dream had opened an old wound that she had carefully done her best to heal over; Marxes didn't like to speak about Thenia's mother, so often the young demoness had been left to ponder alone. As night fall finally settled thick over the kingdom Lanryel took her chance to leave under the cover of darkness. With her horse from the palace she left the sanctity of the kingdom and journeyed north where she knew Helios would be waiting. Impatience caused her to spur the horse faster as she could barely stand to wait any longer. Soon the path leading up to the cabin became visible and Lanryel back tracked a bit to hid her horse away from sight.
The rest was best done on foot so that if anyone had been tracking her it would be harder to follow from that point. Cutting through the forest rather than the path took a little more time but once the lake came into view Lanryel broke into a sprint. There it was, the little cabin that meant so much to the both of them. Carefully Thenia entered and locked the door behind her. It was dark and she realized that Helios must have fallen asleep. Slow and soft footsteps guided her along the familiar path to the bedroom where Helios lay comfortable upon the bed.
He looked just like an angel to her sleeping so soundly that she would hate to fully wake him up. Moving to the side of the bed that was unoccupied she laid down next to him making sure that he didn't stir and out of instinct lash out. As he spoke her name she smiled and gently brushed the hair from his face to leave a kiss on his forehead. "I am here, my dearest Helo, rest easy." the woman murmured as she stroked his head and hair. Settling her head next to his Lanryel closed her eyes and wished that this night would never have to end, calming herself of her stress with the soothing sounds of his even breathing.

He awakened slowly from what seemed to be a pleasant dream, his eyes immediately locking with Lanryel's. He smiled as he stared at her reminiscing how she used to just lie there, playing with his hair while he slept, waiting for him to wake up as she did now. Only difference between then and now was that he played hard to get then. He raised his hand to her face, running the back side of it gently down her cheek, his eyes watering as he watched her.
"I thought I had lost you...I thought that you had moved on," he said finally showing the fears her held onto for so many years. He moved forward and gently locked his lips with her own. When their lips parted again, he landed back onto his spot on the bed, his head hitting the pillow as he stared up at the ceiling. "Do you remember when we were kids? You, Eshe, and I used to be quite the handful in our younger days. As a matter of fact...I believe it was Eshe who introduced me to you for the first time," he said chuckling. "I remember being so stubborn around you, intentionally trying to keep my distance away...because I knew Eshe had fallen for you back then, and I didn't want to ruin our friendship..." he continued on trailing off at the last segment of his sentence. He finally sat up in bed, dangling his legs off the side as he stared downward at the wrinkled sheets, and clasped Lanryel's hand within his own.
"I can't help but to think that if we hadn't fallen in love back then...maybe you'd be happier with Eshe...but no...Eshe would hear nothing of my apologies nor would he admit how it hurt him. I knew he secretly was in pain when he found out about us for the first time, and truth be told it killed me a little inside. All I've ever done was take from Eshe. He provided me shelter with three square meals every day within the borders of his lands, a home to call my own, and I took that. Of course I wasn't there very often due to diplomatic reasons, but nonetheless I was happy. He provided me a friendship that knew no bounds...at least that's what I believed it was...and I took that without so much of a thought to reciprocating the favor...and then he brought to me you...you were so damn curious and stubborn, that the more I tried to distance myself, the closer you would come..." he chuckled at the last thought.
"I would do it all again if I had the chance to with no regrets..." he said breaking the moment of silence that had seemed to blanket them after his last words. "So...I take it your here because you've chose me over him," he questioned softly awaiting a reply from his beloved.

Lanryel smiled warmly as Helios' eyes opened and he began to wake up. "I am sorry for waking you..." she murmured, though knew that she would have been slightly disappointed if he hadn't responded to her being there. She closed her eyes as he tenderly brushed her face and let out a soft sigh. As he spoke Lanryel opened her eyes once again and she was silent for a moment, taking in the weight of his first words.
"There was no moving on from my love for you Helo. No one could ever compare to my chevalier." Lanryel chuckled softly. It had been some time since she used that term, and she wasn't quite sure why but she sometimes thought of French when she spoke to him. In the Hume world it was the language of love after all, and it was her own quirky way of being exotic in Heil. Lanryel would tell him when he asked what the words meant but she had never explained the different languages spoken by humans.
Their kiss was so sweet and even after they parted she could still taste him on her lips. Lanryel watched him as he moved about and laughed as random memories associated with their childhood were suddenly brought to the front of her thoughts. "Well, you were the first real demon I had ever seen. I was used to seeing elves by the time we were introduced...as far as Eshe's feelings towards me I must admit for a time they were mutual. He was my first real friend and little girls imagine all the time in my world about falling in love with Princes. In his defense I was his first Hume so I think it was more of an adoration one would give a favorite toy, and he didn't want to share it."
As Helios sat up and took her hand she joined him and wrapped her arms protectively around him, kissing his neck gently. "Eshe understood that our feelings towards one another were not an attack on him personally, even if he was hurt by it. Elven royalty could never marry a hume, there are unwritten rules about that and we both knew it. When friend like us are that close, it always hurts when the balance of our bonds shifts and leaves someone out. In all my time here in Heil I do not regret my choices..."
Lanryel paused as she reveled in the silence. There truly was no going back now from this point. Yet she still hoped that in the end the truth could set them all free, and that years of pain could be reconciled; her silly Hume sense of optimisim held onto that belief firmly. "The choice was made when you returned to me. Eshe has nothing for me other than our friendship as his heart had long ago been won by another. We truly were only friends in your...absence."

They stayed out on the balcony for what seemed forever, gazing upon the stars as Thenia pointed out each one he had a question about. She went on about the lore of the stars, listening to the crashing waters of the waterfall down below. Eventually they were walking down the hallway, still chatting away, both clumsily stumbling into love. Bumping hands but to shy to hold it, prolonged glances, cheeks flushed, and eventually a surge of bravery of bravery built up to just simple conversation. He was astounded at every little detail she spoke of when describing her own childhood. They spoke so much that he didn't even realize they had made it to his quarters. He blushed again as it grew silent. "Well...this is me..." he chided. He felt at a loss as he placed his back against the door. "Would you like to come in," he asked as he let his hair droop in front of his face, hiding from the embarrassment of the moment. He wasn't propositioning her for sex or anything, just a nice chat and a cup of tea...besides, he wouldn't know what to do if it did come up. His hue turned all the more red and for the first time he was thankful for long hair. "Just for tea," he blurted nervously, his heart feeling as if it was about to leap from his chest. As he drooped his head to make a better curtain for his blushing with his hair, there stood two nodules evenly placed atop his head. Both were pointed and a pure white color. He hadn't noticed them yet, but surely as he hid his embarrassment, Thenia must've seen.
What time was it? He couldn't help but think that it was pretty late, and for some odd reason, he could smell the deep night settling in. He couldn't explain it really, but it made him feel more vibrant, and awake. Perhaps this was a perk to his sudden change. He shook it off, and creaked open the door entering shyly, cleaning up what little mess he had laid out upon a small desk. The dress attire he wore was stifling, yet he persevered hoping that Thenia would accept his invitation. Instead of waiting for her approval, he simply busied himself making tea. Whether or not she came in didn't effect the fact that he would love a cup of warm tea before bed. His eyes shone with kindness as he gently poured some piping hot water atop of a strainer filled with tea leaves. The water entered clear, yet dripped downward into the pot black as the night, yet smelt sweeter than honey. Lanryel had made him accustomed to having tea at night each time he went for her council. It became a pleasant little ritual he wanted to share with Thenia.

The entire evening seemed supremely magical in the young woman's opinion. There didn't seemed to be so great a distance between them anymore, as there had been when she brought him into Heil. In there conversations they covered so much, from her questioning life as a Hume to his inquiries of her childhood. As much as she could, she left out the worst details of Marxes, as she didn't want thoughts of him to ruin her wonderful mood. All Thenia wanted to do was focus of Shiro.
Finally they had reached his room and she paused outside with him. Thenia had only ever heard or secretly read about what a man and woman did together in the seclusion of a bedroom when they were in love; she wouldn't even know where to begin, but thought it was cute that Shiro had to clarrify his intent. Before she could respond, the sight of Shiro's newly budding horns caught her eye and her tounge caught in her throat.
Certainly his appearance had been changing drastically day by day, but the only way for him to have a demon's horns was if he had demon in him. Nothing else would cause that kind of chance, and Thenia began to wonder to herself if there was some further secret to his past that even he did not know about. Time would come when they would find out, she hoped, but for the time being he was being a gentleman and offering some further company.
"I'd love some tea." she finally answered before entering his room and closing the door behind her. When the tea was ready they sat together and bonded over the hot beverage. Thenia remembered that the maids would give her warm tea and honey whenever she was sick or if she couldn't seem to fall asleep. That moment made her long for the good memories she had left behind at her home. Somehow, Thenia wouldn't remember how later, she wound up next to him as they relaxed on his bed and she hugged him close. Maybe she had grown cold...
"Shiro..." Thenia whispered, looking up at him. "Whatever happens tomorrow, I am glad that we will be undertaking this together. I can't even begin to imagine what would have happened if I didn't bring you back with me."

Marxes Time had definitively become a nuisance as he waited patiently upon the throne with a crooked grin. His little puppet had proven to be quite useful despite her obvious weaknesses. She had since day one followed him like a helpless puppy, and it seemed that the more he shunned or ignored her, the harder she tried for his approval. It wasn't until recently that led him to believe her loyalty was faltering. She was becoming a young woman quickly, and would have her own thoughts to share, and that he found threatening...but why dispose of her when one could get their uses out of them first. Her charming personality as well as her foolish kind heart made it easy for her to come in the company of the targeted subject. He knew that having her extinguish the flame would lead them inevitably back to him, and that was exactly what he wanted. Sure by extinguishing the flame he had the means of attacking the Hume world, but he wanted more. With the blood of the two hybrids he would be able to force both realities into one being...of course that would mean that one of those realities would be extinguished. His lips curled into a grin as he thought of the wide scale destruction it would bring. He had already seized a great deal of power, and knew his forces could easily overtake Eshe's, but he wanted certainty. Despite which would would disappear there would be heavy casualties on each planet...and that would be when he would strike, ridding himself of the thorn in his side.
He felt almost anxious as he about Eshe's final moments, and relished in the fact that he would not only crush that foolish elf's kingdom...but his heart as well. He wanted to see his face when he tells him that it was all his doing. That he force Helios to kill his lover, and stole his child to raise as his own pawn. That woman also bore his own seed before her life was taken. He sighed deeply as a messenger entered the room and bowed before him...another one of his pawns. "Speak lest you wish your life forfeit," he sneered as he looked down upon the lowly messenger.
"Lord Marxes...we have finally wiped out what little resistance the Duke's men put up against us within the kingdom. Your rule is now absolute over all daemons...also rumor has it from our spies that the targets will embark soon," spoke the messenger, not once raising his head to look upon Marxes. "All hail Lord Marxes...king of the Daemons..." he ended before slowly backing away, his head still hung in respect. With little more than that the messenger was gone. Marxes just sat there stroking his chin deep in contemplation.
"It's almost time...but still we wait. All the pieces have not yet been revealed. Where are you Helios, and what has become of that sweet Hume woman of yours...because when I find her...I think I'll make her too my wench," he said with a throaty laugh before flinging a half emptied goblet of wine across the room. His laughed echoed throughout the dark halls of Girino...capital of the Daemons.

Corinth stared idly out of the castle window, the shadows beneath his eyes evident even in the dull light. The young demon hadn't been getting much sleep since his darling sister had left Girino with how much work Marxes had been putting him through. Much of it was menial tasks that had gone for too long unhandled and he was known as one not afraid to spill some blood to get the job done. In fact he had led the attack against the resistance and still chuckled about how easy a defeat it had been.
How the Duke had previously remained in power for so long with such weaklings as his warriors Corinth couldn't begin to imagine. Reclining in the armchair he had moved nearer the window he looked out at the darkened sky. His father had told him just enough to keep him interested in his eventual plan for Thenia and the keeper, yet still he wondered what would exactly be his part.
Corinth felt no love for the sister that was really their father's plaything. She was, as he had been told, a lot like their deceased mother and he was so much more like their father. Even though he had never met Cecille Corinth knew he could have never loved a soft, kind woman like that for a mother. Or at least he said that now after having been denied any sort of affection through his youth.
"Don't worry Thenia, your inevitable demise will be quick and painless. Pity that the first time we actually meet I may have to kill you..." he mused darkly lacing his fingers together. "Father has big things in store and I won't let you or that Keeper stand in your way..."

Helios smiled lightly at her response. It was truly comforting that she still loved him, but still something was troubling him about the way Eshe looked at her even now. "So what will you do now?"
The question was a strong one, and his heart began to race. "I will not stop in my vegence against Marxes nor will I quench my anger with Eshe. My journey will be twice as perilous without my horns, and Marxes will probably know that i'm coming soon," he said in a dull angry tone. He was still angry. He wanted Marxes to disappear, and he wanted a face to face with Eshe. He would not stop until it was so, and a price was paid. He took a deep breath and sighed outward. He managed to calm himself down, and leaned his head back upon Lanryel's soft stomach. "Am I a fool to want revenge. They took him from us, and now...he's gone. I'm sorry...I'll make them pay...starting with Marxes."
He couldn't believe how harsh his tone was sounding. The anger he felt inside was truly immense after the constant years of torture...if only he had his horns. He had to find the remnants of his horns. Last he remembered...a powerful magic user...he was hooded...he took his horns. His head hurt again as his mind raced with thoughts of many things, but slowed back down as he felt Lanryel shift a bit to get comfortable. He shook his head clearing his mind, and shifted back into the bed next to her, wrapping his arms about her. "I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I know that the way I feel will always be the same. So let them lock me in a dungeon for a hundred years, despite all that time I will still feel the very same for you...the same way as I do now. I love you Ryelle forever and ever," he chided softly kissing her tenderly. He had built up a lot of rage over the years. They did things to him that made him question his sanity, his religion, and inevitably they compromised his will to live. Had it not been for that...that boy. He was a curious one indeed. His binds were specially designed to be unlocked by Lanryel's blood. Eshe thought it an amusing game knowing that the key to Helios' shackles would never even know he was alive...It was torture. He wouldn't tell her that part though. He didn't want her to feel any more unwanted emotion. Alot had happened today, and it was time to rest. His eyes were becoming heavy, and he struggled to stay awake as he felt the true drain of his ordeals.

Lanryel had been thinking of an answer to his question since the moment she helped Helios escape. It was not an easy choice after such a heavy truth had been ladden upon her. How was she supposed to feel when she had trusted someone for 18 years with her very life essentially and then to find out he had supremely betrayed that trust? It was complicated to say the least.
Yet Eshe's actions had driven her to this course, she could not deny that. "There are two misfits who have taken refuge in the kingdom, a demon and a young Hume boy who it turns out is a Keeper. I plan to travel with them in their quest to relight the Flame. I don't know if you've noticed the breaks in the barriers between our worlds yet, but I know that Marxes is behind it." Listening to Helios speak of vengence and revenge her heart pained at the thought of him having so much hatred in his heart.
Yet in many ways he had every right to have these feelings against both men who had wronged him. "I feel that we will be traveling together my dearest. And no you are no fool though I must admit I do not like seeing you filled with such negative emotion..." Suddenly Helios brought up a "him" that had been taken and foolishly Lanryel did not know who he meant at first. He sounded almost like a muttering madman but she kept that thought to herself; she didn't want him to turn his anger towards her after all.
It would not be until later that she realized that Helios was referring to Shiro and that her decision to bring the young ones with her to Helios would be inevitable. Both Helios and Shiro deserved the truth. "For now rest easy Helo, the night is still young and though I will have to leave come morning I will return to you. I promise." Lanryel kissed his forehead and held him close never wanting to let him go again.

It had been one tedious turn of events after another, yet Shiro still wasn't embarrassed to say that he slept more soundly than he had in years. The morning brought surprise to the young warrior as he had awakened to Thenia slumbering soundly next to him. He had thought it all to be some magical dream, but no...it all actually happened. His proclamation of love, and her reciprocation of her own feelings had truthfully put him in a fog. It all seemed like a magical dream, but by now he figured things were real He slipped out of bed quietly, and threw on some clothing quickly. Slipping ever so quietly from the room as to not wake his soundly sleeping queen, he began his mission. His mission was simple...to surprise Thenia with a hearty breakfast from the kitchen. He was greeted by the cooks who busily scurried about the kitchen, preparing breakfast for all the palace staff and of course the king an d Lanryel. Luckily Shiro managed to ascertain a few eggs and milk, although all he really needed was one egg due to the sheer size of them in this world. Here the eggs were about as large as a football. Nonetheless he grabbed a few herbs and spices he had become familiar with and found himself a meat similar to that of pork (specifically bacon), and went to work. He scrambled the eggs with a look of concentration baring down upon his brow. After nearly an hour he emerged from the kitchen, a few cooks admiring the strange way he had prepared his eggs, and how he prepared his hoarker meat (pig meat in their world). It seemed this was the first time they had really ever seen bacon prepared, and many of them crowded about as he cooked it. Yes, but now he was complete and cheerfully carried a large plate towards his room, to surprise the sleeping Thenia, cheerfully greeting the cleaning staff as he passed them.
He had yet to really see his horns, and couldn't quite put a finger on it as to why people were staring at him, but his horns were growing rather large, curling off to the side so that they were barely visible now. They only had been growing since yesterday, but it was almost worrying to see one's horns grow in so quickly...especially when one's horns signified one's power. Noble houses in Girino would be thrown into a calamity as they would either side with the young male coming into great power, or simply attempt to eliminate him. What power would such a young man bare from such horns was the true question. More than likely the power would be quite destructive. Either way Shiro knew nothing of such things, and simply went about his day, quickly hurrying to Thenia's side so that he could greet her into the day with some of his world's cuisine. Truth be told, while Thenia was unconscious, he could be seen constantly within the kitchen, learning more cuisine. It seemed he spent a majority of his days in the pursuit of more knowledge within the palace libraries, absorbing as much as he could about this world. He had barely even began to touch into geography when Thenia awoke from her coma. Never in a million years would he ever had imagined falling in love...but now here he was, with a tray full of food at his door, for the woman still sleeping soundly in his bed. He smiled at the thought as he quietly pushed open the door with his hip, carefully maneuvering the tray into the room, and placing it upon the nightstand next to the bed. He paused as he sat down upon the edge of the bed, leaned forward, and placed a warm gentle kiss upon her cheek.
"Rise and Shine princess...I made you breakfast," he said with a light smile and a soft touch to her cheek. He glanced over upon the night stand at the splendor of what he had created. It was a rather hearty meal of scrambled eggs with melted sharp cheddar cheese, two sides of perfectly toasted wheat bread, four slices of crisp bacon, and of course a blue berry muffin that he didn't quite make, but was gonna take the credit for anyway.
"Bon Apetite," he chided as he glanced upon Thenia once more with his ruby red eyes.
