Strudelstein
Pieprsn2 the avenger

The boy, on the other hand, is much more down to earth. I drew him with blond hair with bangs that constantly cover his eyes. He has tan skin. I'm debating the eye color, but I'm near decided upon silver eyes with long eyelashes that actually look rather bad a**. I drew him with huge shoulders, and very tall. All in all, he looks very cool and mean.

Now this is where I get to his clothing, and I'll explain why I dressed him like this later.

He has yellow rubber gloves that come up a few inches below his shoulders. On his neck he wears a silly dog collar that has "Fifi" imprinted on the name tag. He has a pink t-shirt, with little green flowers all over it. He wears an apron, which has a pink heart on it that says, "#1 MOM" on it. He wears dull colored pants and oversized boots that have several belts on them.

When I designed the boy's character, what I had in mind for the story was this. The boy had stolen a piece of pottery from his mother and was planning to sell it in order to pay for his secret sewing hobby. He made a deal on "YeOldeEbay" and was planning to meet up with the person who bought his pottery along the border of the Light and Dark realms. The person who bought his pottery was the girl, however, and she brought with her an honor guard while the boy came in the guise of a peasant. Scared shitless by all the guards, he attempted to run away, "which involved breaking a guard's nose, injuring a poor horse, and the untimely destruction of an innocent piece of pottery."

I then planned for the boy to be taken captive, and forced to be the slave of the Dark girl. My idea for the rest of the story would be the silly misadventures over which a total badass would be forced to serve a wimp, and over a series of hilarious events they would slowly warm up to eachother and perhaps become lovers (while at the same time the Light realm is furious over the abduction of their prince, and perhaps a war might be waged. I always do love medieval warfare razz ).

That's why the boy is wearing such rediculous (spelling fail x3) clothing: to degrade him.

I'd like to say that I'm slowly beggining to like the idea of the girl having a backbone. It would be funny to see the two arguing, since the boy would be her servant who would be supposed to do everything she says; yet he's the only person she's ever met who does the total opposite. I can see this being very funny (and perhaps explosive...*evil laugh*) and I'm happy either way with the girl being a wimp or being bitchy, because both can be twisted into a very comedic story.

As for the boy selling pottery for his kingdom...I'm personally going put out a thumbs down to that. Nope, not going to happen. I'm sorry, but seriously? If you were a prince of a poor and starving country, would you honestly think that the best way to solve the problem would be to sell pottery!?! Why not make contracts with neighboring countries? Sign pacts and buy masses of food? Invest in schools for educating the future generation? Give money to inventors to discover better ways of living? No. If this guy wanted to help his country, he sure as hell wouldn't do it by dressing up as a hobo and selling pots on the side of the road. When we talk about supporting a country, it takes a lot more money than that, trust me.

About the names. I don't really like the sound of Bianca. I like the meaning behind it, but when I read it the first thing that pops into my head is: "Biance." If this is going to be a semi medieval time frame, perhaps more medieval sounding names are in order? (example: changing "William" into "Willem")

My dad's name is Willem 8D [/random] though I thought William was a normal name back then?

Anyway. I'm gonna have to agree with Piep on the whole 'selling pottery cause my kingdom is low on funds'- business. Unless you have a pottery stand that's big enough to disappear into the horizon, it's not going to make a difference.

Also. Piep. Why would they have pink aprons with witty texts on them in medieval times? Though I really like the boy's secret sewing hobby. XD We could totally have him sell the pottery in clothes he made for himself (since he can't wear it anywhere else).

And for the girl: I like the fact that she's one tough cookie. Maybe have her be the general of the dark kingdom's army? :'D Or a high ranked soldier.

Story-wise: I don't know who threw it in the mix, but having the boy getting a death sentence from the king sounds like fun to me. Then later when they find out he's a great sewer, they'll keep him around and have him make some sexy new clothes so that they all can look snazzy. (And maybe hide this from the princess? Who would later find out cause all the servants in the castle would be walking around in haute couture.)
As for the king of the dark country: I'm seeing him as a wise man that just really loves his daughter and has made some stupid decisions since she was born to keep his daughter happy. (Like for one, giving the boy a death sentence just cause his daughter doesn't like him.) As a result of this upbringing she would be a hotheaded, spoiled brat with one heck of an attitude.

I've looked up some medieval names and here are the suggestions I liked (since Bianca doesn't really sound like a name from medieval times):
For the girl: Aleid, Agnes, Cecilia, Grace (I personally like Agnes best for a princess of the dark kingdom)
For the guy: Damme (I liked this one, but it's a dutch medieval name, so yer..), Thomas, Cuthbert (lol?), Lionell, Bryan

Well, at least somebody listened to my rant! xDDD I agree with everything you've just said!

I have to say, it would be hilarious if the guy was selling the stolen pottery to pay for his secret sewing hobby and wearing his snazzy clothes that he made himself! And then being the castle's sewer? GENIUS!

I'd also find it very fun for him to be the princess's servant/slave/Viking thrall (WOOT, VIKINGS! xD), because everyone loves two hotheads arguing constantly with undercurrents of romance beneath it all! Of course, that brings up the question of: how do we explain him becoming her servant/slave/Viking thrall? Maybe she would force him into doing it because she was the one who captured him or something?

Thinking of the prince's abduction, I think we might want to add in a few battle scenes. I've read tons (and I mean TONS) of books about medieval warfare, so I would have no problem planning those out accurately (it's a lot more complicated than people think; you don't just run at them and duke it out! >x< ). Still, this is more of a comedy, so warfare might not need to be included in great detail (although you can make a funny moment even funnier by having a serious moment right before it. Example: THIS IS SPARTA!). Maybe I'm just a geek for medieval warfare. xD

Having the father spoil her daughter until she's a b***h would fill a plot hole; most people aren't bitchy without a reason, after all. We wouldn't have to explain it to the readers, but it would be pretty self explanitory.

As for names, I've always had problems coming up with them, but again, I REALLY don't like the sound of Bianca; it's just not medieval and nerdy enough! Maybe we should open up a whole brand new poll just for names? That would get it decided much more quickly.

Oh, and just as a side note, I want this story to be completely planned out before we start it. I don't want it to be endless, because I know that we'll eventually start screwing it up to the point that it isn't fun anymore! We need to know the beggining, middle, end, and everything inbetween.

Well if we made the girl wear boy-ish clothes, we could have her mom force the guy on her as her personal styler. Cause pants on a princess?! The queen has to put a stop to that.

Also, the other kingdom has to notice they're missing a prince at some point. Maybe dispatch some crappy knights? Who later find out he's in the castle and try to save him. But as the prince is allowed to practice his sewing-hobby for the first time in his life, he couldn't be happier and doesn't want to go back. AND THERE COULD BE WAR AFTER THIS. 8D .. yer idk.

I really don't think he should take pride in his secret sewing hobby, since it's secret after all. I think that even though it would be funny, it might fit the plot a bit more if he didn't want to leave because of the princess. Meh, people seem to love mushy crap like that. What else might work would maybe be him actually wanting to leave, which would result in several failed escape attempts, which would be fun.

Oh, and this is completely unrelated, but where are we going to host this comic? Drunkduck, smackjeeves, or what? Should we also upload all the pages into a single Deviant Art as well as our own, for publicity?

Pieprsn2 the avenger

I really don't think he should take pride in his secret sewing hobby, since it's secret after all.

Finally, people see how the pottery stand needs some more backing to reason. I still stand for the prince somehow befriending the stand's real owner and standing in for him. Sounds more realistic.
Also, Prince can take pride in his sewing habit though, since no one really knows who he is in the Princess's kingdom. We can make him bashful. twisted

I thought the plan was to make him a bad-a**, which would make his sewing hobby seem more amusing? xDD I don't think bashful and bad-a** generally go together. >w>

if we're making him bad-a**, why are the designs we have so far so 'cute'? : o Wouldn't a hulk kind of guy be more fun? But then again, I'm biased. I need myself to learn how to draw muscles. :'D

I have not abandoned thee, pie! I'm just lurking until more decisions are made; I'm a follower, not a leader. ;_; But rest assured, I am quietly watching you from behind my monitor, like a creepy person.

Until I either :
a) fix my old laptop
b) get a new one

I can't really give my attention to the guild as before. So it might seem like I'm neglecting it, but I really don't have as much time as I did before.

But rest assured, I'm still around.

I guess we have the rough outlines established...we'll just have to elaborate on what we get from the person before us. I call doing the third page! ninja

Hang in there guys! We're nearing the next bend! In other words, after this week (early, on time, or late) or so I'm going to go ahead and start the comic whether everyone feels ready or not!

And for the convo on the main character guy, I imagined him more of a trouble-making runt. Well not quite so small, but you know the prank pulling, rebellions young teen type of guy? If he was too big he'd probably push around his weight with brutish force rather than being sly and sneaky-ish. Just my two cents.

Well my own question would be what age should these characters be, we should definitly be consistent. And if we already decided and I forgot then you can remind me. So I vote anywhere from 14-17.

And lastly, for the question on how far ahead are we planning the story...the idea was to have a setup and then let everyone have free reign on how the story is going to end up. But I guess I can ask how long this should be...endless, divided into chapters, a certain amount of pages.

Or how about this, I'll set-up a scenario for each chapter and it is up to all of us to figure how they will accomplish (or fail) to reach the scenario goals. For example, I would set up chapter one for the main guy to have to escape jail. So this chapter woul be dedicated to either getting or failing, to get out of jail. Depending on how the chapter goes, a new scenario is born. Suppose he did escape, but now he has to figure out what his next move is, to return to his country or explore the castle for a quick example. And so on.

This way, we'll have a sort of structure, but also at the same time giving members the liberty to be creative and decide how the chapters end.

Hold on, I think this important and I haven't really thought of it before. The structure! If we don't decide this now, it will cause confusion and fustration and most likely people will want to give up if there isn't a sort of guideline and consistency. Methink I should make a thread about it. *copys*
