hooray! the rolling system is done too!
[x] class structure [x]rolling system []new/reorganized skills []classes []training system []other stuff I forgot
PROGRESS: 15%
if that isn't final enough, I could try compiling the list...

One thought on the rolling system... Maborofel with rolling as: 6-same as we have 8-1,2,3=fail, 4,5,6=so-so success, 7,8=success 12-1,2,3,4=fail, 5-9=so-so, 10,11,12=success As it stands here a begining level ability rolling a 6 will beat out an intermediate and advanced ability rolling that same 6. I was just wondering if we should think about how this would work. Does a so-so advanced ability still take out a successful beginning ability? I think that it would clear up things a little on that if we had- 8-1,2=fail,3, 4,5=so-so success,6, 7,8=success Now as for the advanced abilites, it seams odd that a 4 would be a fail when it is soso for the intermediate and begginner abilities. Maybe if we switched to random numbers instead of dice rolls we could move the advanced abilites down to 10 rather than 12 and then we could go 10- 1,2,3=fail,4,5,6= so-so success,7,8,9,10=sucess Maybe its because I've never played a pen and paper before and maybe it's normal to have those sorts of ratios, but I do want it to seem reasonable when it comes to the rolls and what damage it can do depending on the ability. A begining ability at a 6 should not be able to pwn a advanced ability at a 6. Gah...I'm not sure if I'm getting this out well......

LOL!!!
That's my job...or at least that is why I think Lori put me on the team....
Very detail oriented is I!!!!
Math on the other hand is NOT my strong suit.... DX
It certainly couldn't hurt to run them lol!

Fel is correct. So perhaps success should stack a little differently.
12- fail, 34 - moderate success, 56 - amazing success
12 - fail, 345 - moderate success, 678 - amazing success
12- fail, 3456 - success, 78910 - amazing success
?

well, I guess it'd be best if the % of getting a great success went up with time and the % of a fail went down...so would it be too radical to go with Redesigned rolls, now with Mathematics! 6-sided dice: 1,2,3=fail, 4,5=so-so, 6=great success 50% fail, 33% so-so, 16.6% great, in noobish 'hope I get lucky' fashion 8-sided dice: 1,2,3=fail, 4,5,6=so-so, 7,8=great success 37.5% fail, 37.5% so-so, 25% great see how failure rate dropped by 25% -of its original- while great success is about 50% more likely and so-so is about the same and for the 12:1,2,3=fail 4-7=so-so 8-12=great now fail=25%, so-so=33% and great=42% this makes failure pretty reasonable, all things considering, while so-so hits are still around the 33% area, and Great hits are now at a whopping 42%, perfect for the 'mastery' range it implies THE WHY:well, it's obvious that even masters can't plan for everything, that's why So-so is hovering near 33% Failure rate drops continually as the character gains skill and success rate rises as skill increases there it is, please don't eat me... @Panda: isn't the term 'seppuku' or something like that? (whoo! I learned something from Mr. Welsh!)

oh, and here's the Math for Lorika-and-Felines' numbers: Math pt. 2 6-sided: 33% fail 33% so-so 33% success 8-sided: 25úil 37.5% so-so 37.5% success 12 10-sided: (I thought we were using 12-sided?) 20% fail 30% so-so 50% success isn't 50% success a little overboard?

Now, I like Mab's new MATHEMATICAL system =3 If nobody has any objections I think that that is the one we'll use.
GUYS. Was thinking about skills again - maybe it would be beneficial to impose total restrictions on very powerful skills, such as "may only be used once per rp day" or "once per battle" or "twice per battle" or something. This would counter the problem of spamming. What do you guys think?

YES!
first restriction, 'Fatal Blow can only be used up to 3 times per battle' OR 'Fatal Blow can only be used every 5 turns'
curse you Bapp...
note on the system, if needed, it'd need something like:
'If two characters each use a skill with the same level of success, the higher-ranked character wins. If both are of the same rank, the higher roll wins. If both have rolled the exact same number, roll a 20-sided dice, higher roll wins'

Okay, I'm now going to start preparing for the skills to be redone. I'm going to start by posting comprehensive lists of skills per discipline. After that I will assign people to the skills they are to redo. After THAT I will finally post up the sheet with guidance.
Any questions you have about a skill or what you're meant to do, POST THEM HERE BEFORE YOU BEGIN so that the minimum number of skills need to be redone or have heavy edits.

The lists I'm going to post will be split into three parts - SKILLS, REMOVED SKILLS, and SKILLS UP FOR DELETION
Skills are the ones you will be working on redoing
Removed skills are skills which will not appear in the system v2
Skills up for deletion are going to be ignored for now, then once the rest are done we can talk about each of them in turn.
It is at this point I would request that those of you who do not have msn or gmail GET IT so that we're able to have group discussions.
