Nick side glanced to Shun. And what of him? If they were to get out was he planning on trying to take her into custody? He could easily become very famous for bringing her in, especially alive. And the reward he would get would make him even richer than the nobles. All but the emperor himself. Nick decided not even to bother asking. She wouldn't let him take her back for a public execution for a crime she didn't commit. With her own situation she needed to live.

"... He understands he'll lose his head if he upsets me." She spoke flatly as her arms folded across her chest.

Zutnic scampered about the room investigating all the contents of the room. There must have been a lot for him to look at because he was gone quite a while. Shifting through large boxes and something very large made of stone. The trio could hear him crawling on the walls and ceiling to further his investigation.

He may have been not very bright, but he sure knew how to thoroughly investigate a room.

Waiting patiently for the striker to return with some sort of report, Shun thought on what would happen if they were able to get out. Quite frankly he wasn't sure. Nick was highly wanted for killing all those men and running off with something that had belonged to the Empire. At least that's what he knew of the situation. He didn't care about the fame or fortune that would come if he managed to bring her in, so that wouldn't be his drive...

Nick, from what he was able to tell here, was cunning he acknowledged her level of skill. Even if he hadn't actually seen her operate a zoid or any weaponry aside from that arm of hers, he was able to know from the stories he had heard and just from seeing how she carried herself here. He wouldn't exactly trust his backside to her once they were free but in a situation like this, he felt he could.

Nothing really screamed out 'I'm a traitor!' to him. Of course, not everything is really that clear cut.

"You used to be one of the top soldiers in the Empire," he said lowly, "What the hell happened that day that turned everything around?"

For the most part, he wasn't expecting much of an answer. But he was curious. People didn't just betray others for no reason.

"I was on a mission to investigate strange activities in the Imperial canyons." Nick turned her full attention to the Cadet.

"There I uncovered an illegal operation lead by our former Sergent, Richicard. He was working with Imperials, Republic, and even some outlaws" Nick's frown deepened. "b*****d found me out and shot me when I questioned his motives." Her eyes remained locked on Shun's as she spoke. She hardly even blinked as she talked.

"He wanted the organoid to gain power in the Empire and take control..." Her arms unfolded. This story always enraged her a bit. That day was still quite fresh in her mind. "Richicard left me to bleed to death on the floor, but before he could make another move the organoid came out of the pod he was readying for transport. It tore them all to shreds. When it was done it took me far away from the imperial territory. Don't ask why it chose me... perhaps it liked my blood that had gotten on its pod when Richicard shot me..." In truth Kagi loved the woman's Ambition.

The imperial military had no doubt left out the details about the organoid from the report on her crimes. From what Nick had heard they reffed to Kagi only as "Imperial property" and nothing else.

"I can only imagine what the search crew had to report to their superiors after seeing the carnage. No doubt some of them were in on the operation... blamed it on me to save their asses."

There was no reason to bend the story for the cadet. Nick wanted him to know the true betrayal, weather he believed her or not.

The clicking sound of Zutnic could be heard as he made his way back toward the door with quite a few things to report. He quickly made his way back to Nick and shoved his nose in Nick's right hand as he impatiently waited to give his report.

"The Empire was quick to turn their back to me, even when I had been so loyal to them before." She growled before looking back to the striker who relayed the information to her through a serious of shrieks, squeaks, and clicks.

Though he wasn't sure what to expect as far as an answer went, the cadet certainly wasn't expecting that. For one thing, in the stories he had heard before, there was nothing about an organoid in any of them. But.. if it was an organoid, he could see why it might cause a fuss. As of now it hadn't quite occurred to him that the organoid in question could very well be an ancient one at that.

Shun's eyes widened slightly as she continued on, only glancing once to the side as Zutnic returned with what information he had. During all of it, he was dead silent, taking in the story and digesting it. It was very different from the version he had always heard.

Of course, there was a good possibility that the story given to him just now was a lie; an attempt to turn him against the Empire or something like that. Nick had proved to be quite the actor earlier on after all. But he wasn't even sure of that. In the Imperial version, there just didn't seem to be much of a motive. Granted, now with the knowledge that the 'Imperial Property' was an organoid, he supposed that could be it..

On the other hand, what Nick told him seemed very plausible. People in general were very untrustworthy and the idea of power and wealth could twist their hearts fairly easily.

"Where is this organoid now?" he finally asked after some time. Shun had a rather stern expression on his face now, though there were no hints of doubt in the question. It just struck him odd that there was no organoid in sight here... aside from his own, when one had apparently carried Nick away that day.

Bent-Tail sat by his pilot's side, looking between the two humans as they spoke. When Zutnic had returned, he looked over at him to try and listen in on what was being said.

"I left him behind to protect someone." The frown vanished from her face and was replaced with an expression of concern. She could only hope the two were getting along. "They need him more than I do now..."

Nick flexed her right hand into a fist than relaxed it. The gears quietly groaned with the quick movement.

Zutnic finished his report than moved back over to the door eagerly. His head twitched and moved every which way like a raptor listening to its surroundings.

"The room is clear." Nick added after the striker finished his report. A relief. Nick half expected those things to be all over the room like the last. Perhaps some rooms were 'nests'. "There is also another hall on the other side of the room. He says he saw 'fire light' at the end of that hall. Hopefully the sun..."

The report was thankfully promising.

Shun stared at Nick, taking note of the concern in her features. Another part of an act? He wasn't sure...

Shaking his head to himself, he mulled it over some more but he didn't really come to any conclusions from it. Perhaps he could try and see what he can dig up from the Empire if they get out...

Once the striker finished its report, he returned his gaze to Nick as she translated. It certainly seemed promising, but he wasn't going to hope too much. This temple had already given them some surprises, so there was always room for more he supposed.

"We'll just have to find out," he muttered, seeming a little distracted with his thoughts.

At the mention of a possibility of getting out, Bent-Tail perked up. He would very much like to get out of here quickly if possible.

Not really wasting more time, the cadet went on towards the room, pausing for a moment to peek inside. When it seemed to be clear, he glanced over his shoulder to see if the rest of the little party was coming along as well.

Nick started for the next room, than paused. "I'm not expecting you to believe me Cadet. The truth always surfaces at one time or another..."

This whole experience was a testimony to that. Though a quick example of it.

"Just realize, I'm not going to let you take me in..."

With that said, Nick moved through the doorway with Zutnic following closely after.

The room was in fact massive. There were many ancient crates and pots strewed about the room. In the center of the room stood a huge statue stretching to the very ceiling of the room. It looked to be horse or dragon of some kind. The rock was to warn to get the exact detail of it. Though the shape was very familiar... and it made Nick frown.

Zutnic followed close behind eying the room again. It was obvious why the striker had taken so long to look around the room... It would have taken him much longer if he had gone through all the boxes, which did seem to still have some ancient trinkets in them.

Hearing Nick's words, Shun paused. After the short span of silence, he glanced behind and replied with narrowed eyes.

"I have no intention of trying."

Even if he did, he knew there was a fairly decent chance that she'd end up crushing his skull in just as she had done with the one striker earlier on.

Once in the other room, the cadet looked around, taking in his surroundings. The room was quite massive indeed, and the statue thing in there was... rather odd. The beam of light lingered on it as he studied it, trying to figure out what it was. It was a rather intimidating looking creature, which made him wonder just what sort of people the zoidians were to worship something like this.

Bent-Tail stared at the figure for awhile, then decided to dig around the boxes some. Something about the statue made him uneasy so he wanted to busy himself with something else. That aside, he wanted to know what was in some of these boxes anyway.

"Thank you." Nick spoke sincerely. Though she wasn't sure if his statement was arrogant or not. In any case she could be on her toes.

She stood next to Shun as he was examining the statue. With the light on it she had no more doubts, this was certainly a statue of some form of the Jury. It made a little more sense now.
".... This temple must have been for rituals. If he's here." She gestured to the statue with a nod.

The more she looked at the statue the more she was reminded they needed to get out of here soon. Nick was thanking God that the Judge had not forced the Iron Judge to appear any time during their adventure, but there was no telling when she would suddenly force an appearance. Nick let out a sigh before she noticed being stared at by Zutnic. He seemed... amused. Which was disturbing.

Bent would find the boxes filled mostly dirt and broken pots with more carvings of a four armed dragon. Other jars also had that same horse-dragon carved on it.
He would also find some boxes filled with ancient bones, all huddled together. Possibly in fear of something. The human bones looked frail and about ready to collapse in any moment with all the wear of time they had endured. These have not been touched since the day they passed away. A slight window to the past...

"What or who exactly is he?" asked the cadet. Though he had somewhat heard of the Jury, he never really heard anything of what it looked like, so he had know idea what the statue was really.

Turning away from the statue now, he looked around to see where Bent-Tail had gone. The organoid was some distance away, staring into one of the boxes. Wanting to see what it was he had found, Shun made his way over, finding ancient skeletons within. He had to wonder if they had anything to do with the rituals Nick had mentioned. If that was the case, considering their positioning, it likely wasn't a very pleasant one.

He also had to wonder if the military really knew about this area of the temple before hand. For now, the soldier thought it probably wasn't the case, considering all of the now-not-dormant strikers they had stumbled upon. Speaking of the military... he was going to need to think of what he was going to be reporting exactly sometime later..

"Come on Bent-Tail, we better get moving before these ghosts decide to haunt us," he grumbled, not that he really thought that would happen.

"Just a dark legend." Nick replied quietly. Jury was a legend to some and a myth to most. Though the statue was slightly inaccurate now that the Jury had evolved...

Nick followed behind Shun at a distance. The sight of the ancient skeletons wasn't something she wished he had seen... they way they were. These people were tortured and scared out of their minds before they died. It reminded her of the victims from her 'nightmares'. She winced at the sight before turning away to face the back door.

Shun wasn't alone in his thought for a good story to give to the Empire when he returned. She had her left hand on the hilt of her second largest dagger. It was one she had during her time the military, even had her personal military symbol on it, the "dragon star". She was know for it and her gun "peace maker". The gun she already gave to Titus, but perhaps the Dagger she would have no trouble giving to Shun. With this prize he could make a name for himself... it would be more meaningful if it had her blood on it. the Imperial pigs would love to see that. On a personal perk, it would lead the Empire to believe she was dead. It would make things slightly easier... slightly.

"Cadet, you said you had no intention of turning me in... what do you plan on telling your superior officers when you return?"

Zutnic could hear a feint humming noise coming from the wall over the door they had just entered. He seemed excited about it. The striker bounced about in place eagerly.

Turning towards Nick, Shun's eyes soon narrowed as he spotted where her hand was placed. At the sight of that, he thought she was getting ready to whip it out to attack him if need be, causing him to be more wary of her at the moment.

"I was thinking to basically say it was nothing more than a treasure hunter looking to strike some fortune in the ruins. I'll either say they died from one of the traps or had just gone on their way after wards," he replied, "Unless you have something else to suggest?"

Bent-Tail looked over towards Zutnic, noticing him act fairly excited or something. Tilting his head, he went over by him to see if he could see why that was. Eventually, he picked up on the faint humming as well, but didn't think much of it for the most part.

User Image "Take this to your officers, tell them that you ended my life." Nick slowly withdrew the dagger so Shun could see it.

One of a kind, and looked to be very valuable weather it belonged to the most wanted being in the imperial army or not. Ivory handle, ruby eyes in the dragon's head on the pommel, not to mention the Dragon star symbol was made of ebony. Nick's initials were carved into the blade itself, further proof. Decorated and sharp. Nick rarely used this blade on any one. Even when she was the Iron Judge.

"A little blood on it and that should prove you crossed paths with me. Wrap it up in cloth and present it to them, it should get you a reputation."

Nick couldn't even explain to herself why she would want to help out this individual. It wasn't for the soul purpose of having the imperials off her back... He had proven himself to be an exceptional soldier under the circumstances. This would surely give him recognition.

"as for my body, Fell off a cliff... blown up with my ZOID. They won't question a proud soldier's skill... They don't know what I look like now... and they will never find the person they were looking for."

Zutnic chirped and clicked some more. His claws begun to tap on the ground.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 01, 2010 9:54 pm

Shun's eyes widened slightly at the dagger. It was very ornate, and while it didn't seem to have much wear, it appeared it could be a very capable weapon if someone decided to use it.

He didn't care so much about the part where he'd gain recognition for this really. And for awhile, he remained silent as he went over all the details of everything. Nick could be doing this just to finally get away from the Imperial army, but something told him that wasn't entirely the case.

She did prove to be quite the respectable person, if not rough around the edges. But then again, he, himself, was far from being clean. Not to mention, if it weren't for her earlier on, he'd probably had been crushed under the stone walls that came crashing down.

"Very well," he replied quietly, though he wasn't quite certain why she seemed to want to help, "What exactly will you be doing without us on your backs any more?"

"Oi, wotcha so excited 'bout?" squeaked the organoid, as he was trying to see what got Zutnic in all a fuss.

"Getting by..." She spoke flatly. It would give her one less thing to worry about.

Nick's right hand tightened it grip a little on the dagger.

She positioned the dagger's blade over her left shoulder. Its path would have cut into a tattoo of a horse skull with ram horns. Which strangely resembled the head of the worn statue. But she stopped and lowered the blade as the humming noise was now audible to the humans. It was the same noise she heard just before the strikers in the pods woke up. They must be in the walls...

Nick frowned as she tossed the blade up than delicately caught the sharp end so that the hilt was facing the imperial soldier.

"Here, we'll worry about the blood later." She held the dagger out to Shun. "We need to get out of here now."

Zutnic rolled his head and looked at the rat organoid sideways.
-They come to see great mother's organoid too. Maybe great Mother show up...- the striker spoke with much delight in his words. -they coming fast.-
