I read about 10 chapters of a slightly simplified Don Quijote in Spanish 3, but since I was changing schools, I didn't get to keep the book over the summer to finish T.T
I'm looking now for simple books in Russian--like children's books and such.
Something simple enough that with a dictionary, I can work my way through it and learn the words that I see often, which are the kinds of words that you'd see all the time... y'know?

I'm not so fond of reading in foreign languages... Especially because i love to get everything in every single sentence xP And i quite like real literature... So, it's always better in my mother's tongue

I mostly read in English, anything from fairytales to Jane Austen, from Clive Cussler to fan fiction (lots of it and usually over 100 pages/fic). As for poetry, I like William Blake and, after years of searching, I actually found i in the book shop.
Unfortunately, I can't manage anything longer than really short short stories in French and Italian, but I try.

I read in English, French and Spanish. People already questionned me why wouldn't I read a translation. I reply that the best way to get the essence of the text is reading it in its native language.
Actually, I dislike the Portuguese translations. Some are just... yak! Like the one I got from Little Women. But there are a couple of good ones...
I also happend to own an English translation of The Metamorphosis, and sometimes I feel sad for not knowing German at all.
You know the funniest thing? Those people that asked me why wouldn't I read translatons? I speak better English than them. pirate

English (of course, since it's my mother tongue) and French and Portuguese (not as much any more). I really like French lit, read all kinds of different things (last year I was in a French Lit AP course so I mostly read the test syllabus)--mostly fiction or poetry. I used to read more Portuguese but I'm out of practice and it's hard for me...when I was a kid I really liked this comic book series about a little girl named Monica. I've read a bit in Japanese but only in class...
