see thats the thing i think... transgression is only really transgressive if it makes people uncomfortable.

im sorry but people werent uncomfortable with GG... in terms of the punks that went to his show... the venues even... they expected that s**t.

lol@dickholes who use the "it's subjective" argument and still saying you're wrong.

for my own two cents ol' GG was transgressive, because one of the few guidelines that's almost universal is you don't jerk off/s**t/piss on your audience, at least not literally. he was still a talentless micro-dicked hack, because while being transgressive it didn't spark any ******** thought whatsoever, and being transgressive for the sake of being transgressive isn't something beyond what a nine year old could come up with and execute.

i know you "can't define art derp derp" but you can gauge the amount of effort involved, and inventing implication after process is the mark of a pedestrian.

inventing implication or observing implication?

On the subject of Stormbeard, bro. You lose all respect for him when you read his ******** blog. It's all self serving feel bad for me bullshit. In fact my friend who has ******** terminal leukemia comments on his blog and tells him about his condition and how he used to get down on himself a lot because of it. Basically saying that Stormbeard doesn't have it that bad at all, and he shouldn't get depressed. He said it in a very nice way.

Stormbeard proceeded to tell him to ******** off and throw a b***h fit then delete his comments (and the entire post).

And he sends me this conference with Mike Rowe talking about hard work and how manual labor has been dying out in America and that's a shame. Knowing my natural love and appreciation for manual arts. What made me lol was that he compared himself to me saying that he's done all this hard labor and that "if you do any of these jobs all your life you'll be made out of wood".

His blog repeatedly says that he cant hold a job because he gets bored in them. He's 26 or so and he lives with his parents and works a job at McDonalds which he complains endlessly about. I had to point out: no, you aren't "carved out of wood", you end up like my father, who has lost most of the cartilage in his elbows, he can't bend his left arm straight. Or my uncle who's got high blood pressure and heart problems from doing it for so long.

All the bullshit in SBG just pisses me off. Since Chris, Eric, and now you have left. There's not really any reason for me to continue there.

inventing implication. as in i draw a two headed dog in chalk and afterwards go "well i guess i can say this represents the duality of man as well as man's predilection towards god."

it might be a great picture of a two headed dog but it's still effing bullshit.

Yeeeeaaaahhhh.... but alot of how artists learn about how to create art is creating art, and observing the implication of their creations. weather they go on to imply what they observed was what was what they planned from the begining or not, or even if its of consiquence weither they did or not is irrelivant to the fact its imperative to the process... its still an important part of an artists practices. not to say thats any less bull s**t...

i mean look at surrealism, it was almost entirely based on making art, and then figuring out what it means afterwards.

so i would have to say most artists do that. pedestirans in mr. nouns eyes or not its pretty much how it goes.

given, I dont think its any less bull s**t.

@loli: not to go on an american flag waving pride fest, but the american work force is the hardest most capable workforce in the entire world. so in that note the beard can shut it.

well yeah, i acknowledge that the practice is fairly common, but in the "underground" art worlds i've been in where i've befriended handfuls of batshit insane artists, artists with actual talent, that sort of s**t is guffawed out of the gallery.

i would say that there is some consequence to explicit intention, given that a good deal of recognition artists receive for their work typically has some parallel, or at least correlation, to their personal lives. which is why as soon as an artist does something batshit insane the merit of his work (and by that i mean the value lawl) goes up like fifty fold.

I've been wondering, who would you say are your favorite artists of today?

cant say i have a favorite, im really interested in the very "pseudo-intellectual" post modernists, Mike kelly is a fav. i guess. Punk grown up, he played bass i think in the band Destroy All Monsters (pretty ******** good s**t) but now he makes art with plushies mostly about the relationship between child and parents. talk about post punk... He's done some political work too. might i mention hes from Ann Arbor michigan. (score)

Mel Chin is cool, most famous for community building projects, and one in particular towards re-vitalizing garbage dump soil to suport crop growth.

I also like david hammons, actually no i love david hammons, i cant even begin to describe his work. agian community oriented, strongly anti-authoritarian, strongly anti-"art world".

the entire Fluxist and Dada movement.

i like a few local artists like ye olde Cass Corridor artists of the 1960's who slapped a bunch of garbage on s**t and painted it crazy ******** colors to express detroit livin', Tyre guytun, who did the Heidleburg project, basically got sick of his ugly neighbor hood so he started collecting s**t and just stapling it all over the telephone poles and houses painting agian.. in crazy ******** colors and patterns. the whole neighborhood got into it, its now a historic location in detroit... s**t only happend twenty or thirty years ago.

and then i can list off all my freinds teachers and fellow students at school...
