Miss Witch was checking on an herb cart when the trouble started. A couple nearby were hanging an argument, drawing a bit of attention from those around them. But the guy wasn’t even putting up a fight.
Feeling sorry for the guy, he went over to help him out a bit. The girl was complaining about him never looking at her or something… Walking into a conversation is always awkward. An argument on the other hand… His thoughts drifted off as he reached out and put a hand on the guy’s shoulder in a peaceful gesture. He hadn’t even spoken before he got a fist in the jaw, and barely hard enough to turn his head. For absolutely no reason, this pushed Nathaniel to the breaking point. “Learn control.”
“Screw you.” The guy said, turning back to the girl, who was shocked speechless. Nathaniel grabbed the guys shoulder, much tighter this time, spun the guy around, and socked him in the jaw. Payback. The wolf said proudly.
The guy fell backwards onto a cart full of books and trinkets, hard. He shook his head, a hand on his forehead, and looked up at who just hit him, his eyes going wide. “Choose who you punch wisely. They might punch you back.” Nathaniel spoke, sounding wise for some reason. Odd? The wolf commented.
The stupid guy started to stand as Nathaniel turned to face Rebecca, who looked positively furious. She was just within the crowd that gathered, holding a bag and tapping her foot. He could almost feel her anger before he got to her, ‘What the hell are you thinking!” She whispered harshly. Why whisper? He had no idea.
“He punched first.” He said, shrugging.
“I said not to draw attention and the excuse you give me is that he hurt your fricken pride?!”
Eat her! The wolf said. No one should talk to us that way. It isn’t right! But Nathaniel felt he had bigger things to worry about. That skirmish wasn’t over yet, so the guy proved as he stalked back over to where Nathaniel and Rebecca stood. He was actually doing the same thing Nathaniel had done only moments ago. The whole ‘Spin around and punch in face’ routine. And it wasn’t very surprising; Nathaniel dodged easily, but left Rebecca in the line of fire.
Unfortunately, the guy was slow when it came to stopping full speed punches. On the other hand, Rebecca was fast. She through her hands up in front of her and his fist stopped in midair, mid-swing. That probably would’ve been bad. The wolf said, his fist is level with her throat. That might’ve hit him in the ribs, he observed.
Rebecca dropped her hands as well as the guy’s. “I agree with the earlier statement now. Dude, let it go.” She said, surprisingly calm for someone who almost got punched in the throat, which would’ve been really dangerous.
“My apologizes. I wasn’t aiming for you, Miss.” He shot a glare at Nathaniel, who was paying no mind to the schizophrenic moron, but watching the girl he had been with before this whole deal started. She was nervous, not that the guy wasn’t around her, staring at the ground and kicking dust with her shoes. Her hand was bandaged and there was a bit of gauze sticking out of her collar.
Before he really registered it, sounds were coming. A few cops in crisp blue uniforms were heading their way. And everyone visibly scattered. What the hell? The wolf and he thought. The guy and Rebecca were between the end of a cart and a brick wall, while the girl bolted down an alley nearby. Nathaniel followed, figuring that Rebecca could handle herself in a troubled situation. She certain handled herself by not getting punched.
I know... it's fairly short. wait, no it's not. Hah! I just typed this all up, well in like the past 4-5 some-odd hours. I'm just happy it's up. I haven't updated in sooooo long. XP Pg 52.

The girl was fast, for someone her size; Nathaniel lost track of her shortly after the chase began. But she left a distinctive trail, her scent. With that, she could lead anyone right to her. She had, the wolf noticed, the scent of a wolf. Needless to say, it was easy to follow.
The girl had hidden herself in a large box in an alleyway, not far from where he and the witch had entered. Though she was being extremely quiet, he heard her mumbling something in a different language, French maybe… As he entered the alley, he heard a hiss before she stopped speaking and froze, all sounds ceasing.
Nathaniel opened the up the box he had heard the voice coming from, to reveal the small girl curled into a ball, her hair covering her in a black veil. She looked up at him, composed fear shadowing her youthful face. “No cops are around. He said, straightening himself. “You can come out of the box, kid.” Her eyes narrowed and looked around, noticing the syringe she capped and shoved in her pocket.
She shook her head and sank further into the box, hugging her knees. “It’s not safe in this town. They hate people like me,” She sniffed the air slightly. “Like us. And he’s so paranoid; he won’t let me out of his sight.”
“If you want, I might be able to get you out of town, or at least into hiding. But you have to come out of the box first.” He offered quietly, aware of the people outside of the alley.
She struggled for a moment, the box suddenly feeling smaller than it was when she climbed in, before his hand was lent out to help. Smiling shyly, she accepted the helping hand and was lifted gently out of the container. Nathaniel was careful of her wrist; it smelled of silver and a harsh mix of chemicals, he noted.
“Why should you help me? I am someone you don't know and just found in a, ah, box. What if my enemies make enemies of you?” asked, thick accent showing prominately and even forgetting a word for a second. All her time in America and she still forgot words. She dropped her head to look at something suddenly fascinating on the ground.
Nathaniel never quite knew why he did some of the things he did. Like chase that girl down all those years ago. How about Rebecca last night? The wolf commented. We just have a thing for females running from us. Quite a turn on, yes?
“You and I are not so different,” He said quietly, “A curse within us. You know what I mean.” From the look she gave him, she understood perfectly, and barely hid her surprise. “It’s natural instinct to protect. And with that silver…” He didn’t know much about werewolves, but he learned fast what the weaknesses were.
She nodded slowly, looking back at the ground. Her pale face grew somber with the thoughts passing thought her mind. But she looked back up, not directly into his eyes, and smirked. “So what’s the plan you have concocted to get me out of this god-forsaken s**t hole?” She inquired; swears were words she never forgot. She crossed her arms over her chest, careful of her wrist. It was oozing metallic colored sludge that couldn’t be considered blood any longer.
Whatever that shot was, it’s helping her. Gets rid of the silver and the infected blood cells… whoever came up with that is a genius. he thought to himself with a slight smile.
Nathaniel stayed silent, piecing a plan together bit by bit. She watched patiently as he looked around at the alley, playing puzzle master in his mind.
Pg 55, believe it or not.... A lot wasn't exactly needed so it got removed.

As he worked on that, Rebecca was working her feminine ways with a new friend while looking for the werewolves. “So… you run a bookstore?” She asked, mildly fascinated. “I love books.”
He chuckled softly, his shoulders barely shaking. “I run it, own it, the works. And if you like books so much, why haven’t I seen you in there?” She shrugged, not having an answer. “Books have always been a hobby of mine. I grew up on them.” He said softly, a sad tone entering his voice. He watched the people moving about in the market, now that the police had disappeared.
Rebecca found this interesting but didn’t ask. She had her own way of getting information not willing given up. As she listened to his mind, she revealed some not-so-surprising things. He was worried about the girl, who was apparently not his girlfriend, and what Nathaniel could possibly be doing to her. He assumed that they were together, and he was probably right. Wolves travel in packs… right? “What did you say your name was?” She asked, attempting to fill the silence with pleasant small talk.
“Uhhh…I didn’t but its D.J.” He said, momentarily confused. Rebecca smile innocently and he smiled back, a quiet laugh escaping his lips. “Sadly, that’s been happening more and more recently. I guess I’m getting really old.” Now they were both cracking up.
He eventually remember to ask for her name, “Rebecca.” Was her simple response. “So why are you with a small girl like… Sherry? That was what you said her name wasy, right?” “Seiri, and we’re just friend by circumstance. I guess that’s how to explain it. What about you and that meathead? How’d you two hook up?” He asked curiously, but there was more to it. She couldn’t pick out what. Bitterness for something…
She had to think for a moment before responding. What was the cover story…? Why can’t I remember it? I came up with the damned thing. s**t. “Oh, the same way, I suppose. By circumstance.” That was lame, B. That was very, very, lame. But he appeared to believe it…
Or Not. I wonder what she’s hiding… Seems a little too careful to be telling the whole truth. He thought. But I can’t blame her, it’s not like I’ve told the exact truth either. He smirked at that, then looked at Rebecca, who was watching him out of the corner of her eye.
“So what a girl like you to a market like this with a meathead werewolf like that?” He said calmly, but she stopped dead in her tracks, staring at him in disbelief. He turned when he saw she wasn’t walking and met her shocked face. “What did I say?”
“What do you mean ‘Werewolf’? Is that even possible?” She said slowly, her words growing more dismayed. Was it? It couldn’t be… Could it?
“It’s about as possible as anything. Did really you think we were the only one that weren’t fully human?” He asked, skeptically. Surely she’s joking. She can’t be serious.
Rebecca shook her head slowly. “Werewolves are fantasy creatures that Hollywood puts in cheesy movies.’ She said strongly, very sure of herself.
DJ stepped out in front of her, half-facing her. “Hollywood does the same to witches, you know." He turned to see her expression, then continued walking down the road, a smug smile on his face.
She thought of the statement for a moment, recalling all the awful witches she’s seen in movies. The Wizard of Oz came to mind very quickly. I hate Hollywood. Her mind concluded before she walked quickly to catch up with the vampire.
They passed a few more side streets before DJ stopped dead in front of Rebecca. She plowed into him with a soft “oomf”. He didn’t notice, his face was cold with anger. “DJ? What’s wrong?” She asked as she followed his gaze.

She asked as she followed his gaze to see ‘the meathead’ in an alley with the girl, Seiri. “Oh.” Was all she could think to say.
Nathaniel looked up from his place, sitting against one wall. His face as hollow as Seiri’s, who was not far from him. Though, Rebecca saw a hint of fear within her violet eyes, as well as anger. A thousand thoughts hit Rebecca at once, causing her vision to blur and her head began to spin. She felt that she had to hold it on, or it would roll right off her shoulders.
Quickly, the thoughts of violence and anger switched to that of concern. She couldn’t focus on anything, but one statement stuck out in her mind. It was Nathaniel’s voice, saying “Not Again”. She closed her eyes, and felt herself falling into a deep, black hole. If I had known this was all I had left to type... I would've just finished it. exclaim Oh well. pg 58.
BTW, chapter 5 is insanely long. And mostly a filler chapter. It might take me awhile...

Chapter Five A Cave of Nightmares
Seiri sat with her back against the cool stone wall of a cave they were hiding out in. Rebecca rested on the dirt floor, the fire cutting through the space between them. The cave was dark and musky from the patches of moss that grew on parts of the walls, but at least the fire gave a warm light to the unpleasant surroundings.
Nathaniel had gone out, his inner wolf needing to break free once more before the moon was over. DJ, not trusting him on his own, tagged along to keep an eye on him. Seiri noticed, before they’d departed, that Nathaniel kept looking at her briefly. She didn’t like it, considering the look in his eyes always made her squirm a bit.
Rebecca had begun to stir slightly, her shoulders rolling in a half-stretch; her face was twisted in what couldn’t be called anything but pain. She rolled onto her side; her face was mere inches away from the flames. Her eyes opened and she forced herself upright, “Where are we?” She asked.
Well this bites… Seiri could only see the newly awaken woman’s jaw moving up and down, because when Rebecca sat up, she was facing away from the girl and the fire. s**t. Now she’s gonna get an attitude with me. I can't believe they just left me with her. She thought as Rebecca stood up, a bit wobbly, and walked the few feet across the cave and sat down in front of the small, deaf girl.
“Can you tell me what happened?” She said slowly. Seiri was only sort of paying attention to what she was being asked and only caught the last part of the question. So, naturally, she stayed silent, as if she was a mute instead of deaf. Rebecca sat waiting for a few more moments, before moving to the left, leaning against the wall. She was relaxed, staring straight into the fire.
Will she just leave me be. They never said I’d have to start talking to her. I’m not good at explaining things, particularly things that I don't know… Seiri complained to herself, glaring at the fire. Every so often, the witch would give her a sideways glance. I mean, seriously. How am I supposed to know what went on in her head. She just randomly passes out and I get put on the spot. Give a girl a break! I didn't want to be here in the first place.
It's very little but that's what I've got typed up.

They never told me what to tell her. What? Should I just know everything right off? Pardon me if I don't pull smarts out my a**!
Rebecca, whose lip biting technique failed, started laughing and completely confusing Seiri. She was leaning away, with a shocked and confused look on her face. “I’m so terribly sorry.” The witch started, trying to calm herself form the laughing outburst. “It was rude of me to impose on your thoughts, then laugh about them.” She said, still smiling. Impose on my thoughts? She can hear them? Seiri’s mind screamed, the feeling of vulnerability creeping up her spine.
“Yes, I can. But, please, don’t tell the guys.”
“What are you not telling the guys?” DJ asked, stepping in the mouth of the cave, setting a bag down next to Seiri. She shifted away from it slightly; seeming to no trust whatever was in there. Nathaniel stood by the entrance, scanning the woods, and the inside. A regular watch dog was he.
It’s just some food from town…DJ thought, his mental voice sounding sheepish. “I figured you’d be hungry by now. We’ve been here for awhile.” He said, sitting against the opposite wall.
“How long is awhile? Last I remember, it was still daylight.” Rebecca commented, scanning her memory as to what had happened awhile ago.
“It’s been roughly six hours.” Nathaniel said, Native American accent and all. Rebecca nodded, unsure of how she stayed unconscious for six hours. A brain overload was usually just moments until regaining consciousness. Maybe it was all the negativity, as well. She pondered, staring into the fire.
A gentle wind shook the trees and blew right into the cave. It was gentle, yes. But it was awfully cold as well. And with the soft glow of the fire dying down, Rebecca was chilled to the bone. She shifted her arms around her shoulders, hugging herself to keep the heat it. But it was no use. And to top it off, they all noticed with they’re heightened senses.
Right. Witch. Of course she gets cold. She’s the only one who’s human. And the wolf is the only one with anything mildly warm. D.J thought, shooting a glance at the cave’s mouth, then over at Rebecca, who was suddenly entertained by the dying fire.It was struggling to flicker itself back to life.
As if a mind reader himself, Nathaniel shrugged off his jacket, sighing, and tossed over toward Rebecca. It landed in her lap, instant heat seeping into her legs. As she looked at him to say thank you, she froze. His eyes were colder than the chill of the wind. And his thoughts were more of the problem. I know you’re hiding something. And you bet your a** I’ll find out, one way or another. She put the jacket on, mumbled a thank you, and looked back at the fire.
Seiri, who had quietly drifted asleep, suddenly twitched. Outside the cave, lightning touched down less than a mile away, closely followed by a deafening burst of thunder. D.J and Rebecca covered their ears while, the tough guy as always, just grimaced and bared it. Everyone’s eyes shot to the sky as it lit up once more.
“Well if a storm is going to start rocking, I’m gonna go grab some more wood.” D.J. said, standing and brushing the dirt from his jeans. With not another word, he left the cave and into the light rain. Seiri remained asleep, though Rebecca wasn’t sure how.
“You should do the same.” Nathaniel said, making Rebecca jump. Thunder boomed outside making her jump just a bit more. “Quite jumpy, aren’t you. Nervous about something.”
“Sorry. It’s just a little nerve racking to be in a cave, in a storm, with people I met today. What did you say?” She said, stuttering a bit, here and there. The fire completely died off now, leaving no light but that of the lightning every few seconds.
“You should get some rest too. Even with being unconscious, you still look ready to pass out.” He said, taking side glances at Seiri. Her shoulders rose and fell in a steady rhythm.
Rebecca followed his gaze to her, a sudden pang of hate in her mind. “She wouldn’t tell me what happened in the alley…she didn’t know.” She said slowly, trying to make the words come out right. It didn’t exactly work, but it made him loosen up and smile.
He walked over and sat next to her, cutting off the wind from the cave mouth. “I don’t know her that well, but she’s as stubborn as a mule.” He said, shaking his head. “You really should rest. Things can always be figured out later.”
Rebecca nodded and, using the jacket as a blanket, laid down on the rough dirt floor. She fell asleep quickly, telling herself she got her bed back soon. Though it wasn’t peaceful, it was sleep not matter how it was looked at.
An update? What? Haha Im so tired... I really should be in bed. Oh well, Pg 64
