Ama was having a bit of trouble climbing; her hooves couldn't keep the footing too well. She'd never actually gone mountain climbing, save the time her father had taken her looking for those pirates when she was little. She wasn't about to give up though, and she kept going.

Thom waited a moment and then reached a hand back to offer her some help seeing she wasnt as good at the climbing as he was. "Careful, last time I remember there was some loose rocks near the bottom of this mountain"

Ama looked up at him, then nodded and took his hand, catching up to him. "Thanks for the heads up, Thom.... How far up did you live?" It couldn't be too far, right?

"Uhm, a ways, I moved around quite a bit for the first while when I came up here.... Didnt settle in one place for a long time" he didnt exactly want to tell her it was gonna take a while to get there yet, after all they were only at the base of the mountain still

Hours passed as they climbed, and Ama had taken a spill quite enough. "Ok, this is getting to be not cool, Thom. How far UP this thing did you live? This is flipping ridiculous!" Her knees were rubbed raw and cuts were all over her from her slips.

"Over there" he pointed to a patch of trees just off in the distance, he'd managed to help her avoid SOME of the spills but clearly not enough and he felt kind of bad that she was getting hurt just to help him see if his home still existed.

Seeing the patch of trees, she took a deep breath getting her focus set. "Alright, not too far...." Ignoring the sting on her palms and knees, she pushed herself to keep going, praying there'd be something there.

By the time they reached it, it'd been evident that the monsoon Ama had spoken of had done a number on the area as well, and what remained of the male's home was a caved in shell of a home that was partially inside the moutain-face and partially not. The sounds of an eagle filled the stillness as the pair examined the ruins and Thom looked up at the bird who was circling above them without any fear in his expression at all

Ama felt her spirits drop, seeing the disaster of what used to be his home. Placing a hand on his shoulder, she gave him a weak smile in attempts to keep his mood sort of up. "Hey, lets see if there's anything salvageable. We can bring it down, and you can stay at my dad's place tonight...."

"Not much left here, when I moved up onto the mountain I left everything behind... everything..." he says quietly, his eyes never left the bird above them even as it started to decend towards them "I appreciate the offer on a place to stay for tonight at least though"

A frown came on Ama's face as she saw the large bird coming closer. To her left here was a stick from the debree, and she reached over and grabbed it, ready to use it if she had to. "No worries, Thom... I'm sure my dad would love to hear about what you remember, and there's no way I'll be leaving you with no place to return to. We'll find a place and build you a home, you have my word on it."

"Thanks Ama" he looks towards her and when he sees her pick the stick up he reaches over taking hold of her hand and shakes his head wordlessly. He looks up at the eagle and raises a hand towards it. "This is their domain" he says as the bird lands on the back of his hand. "We are in their domain, I lived here and shared it with them."

Ama let the stick drop, watching the bird that had landed on Thom's hand in awe. "It is rather pretty...." She explain to him later her mistrust of carnivorous animals, thanks to the events that had happened in Halloween. "You know I'm not going to let you build a home up here again, right? It's too far away and a b***h to get to."

"It's a he actually" he said almost seeming to communicate with the bird before it spread it's wings and he lifted his hand as the bird took off once more and over the trees towards it's nest. Thom chuckles slightly hearing her proclaimation "We'll see, depends on what happens in the future I suppose" If he had pockets he probably would have stuffed his hands in his pockets about now "Well, I guess we should go... By the way, we'll never make it back down before sunset" he nods his head towards the sun which was nearly touching the horizon.

Ama watched the bird take off, a calm smile on her face, then turned to Thom and gave him a bump with her hip. "You're living down where normal Pae live... if only so that when another Monsoon hits, or some other disaster strike, I know I'll be able to find you." Looking up, she sighed, seeing that he was right. "Well... just might mean my dad will be giving himself a hernia while waiting for me. I really need to move out, if not for myself then for him and his constant worrying...."
