Nozomi sensed an uneasy feeling for a moment, but he shrugged it off. It was probably his imagination and nothing more. He had always been hearing, seeing, or sensing things anyway. Insanity was just so near to getting him, so that probably explains why he had a feeling that something bad was going to happen.

As they entered the park, a flock of cranes could be spotted on the pond, the walk path was remotely clear, except for a few pedestrians; mothers with strollers and a few joggers. Immediately, Kiba's eyes flew across the body of water towards a park bench, hoping to not see anything. To his dismay, they were there. Two figures, both men.

"At all cost, we're avoiding the other side of the pond." Kiba said quietly, although his voice still had a bit of a playful and easy going tone to it. "It's haunted, did you know?" He laughed, a very natural laugh.

I didn't know you believe in those kinds of things, Nozomi wrote, quite surprised. Aren't supposedly haunted areas just for scaring people? He didn't really understand why Kiba would want to avoid the other side of the pond. What could he be afraid of?

Looking toward that side, Nozomi noticed a couple of strange-looking men. Suspicious as they were, maybe it's just the clothes they were wearing. Looks can deceive, but that's just Nozomi's thought. He didn't plan to disobey Kiba anyway just out of curiosity.

"Of course I believe in ghost. If you don't believe in them, they'll come out and haunt you. And well, I'd prefer that not to happen." Kiba shrugged nonchalantly, ruffling Nozomi's hair. "You'd best believe too, otherwise the ghost'll take much more than just that cute voice of yours." The green haired young man said quietly, keeping one eye on the other side of the pond. The men had begun to move. Soon, they may meet up with the duo.

"Well then, shall we get started?" Kiba asked, holding out his hand for Nozomi. "I highly doubt you'd want to hold it, but then there's less of a chance of somebody grabbing you."

Though unsure, Nozomi accepted the hand. He didn't know what Kiba meant by someone grabbing him, but he probably had a reason. It couldn't be that he was afraid of those men at the other side of the pond, right? Had there been a bad even between them or something?

Nozomi wrote nothing, not wanting to butt in on Kiba's private life. The hospital volunteer would probably tell him one day, if he ever decided to, at least. It would be no surprise if he didn't want to say anything. Not many people would explain their pasts anyway.

"Oh, please don't give me that look." Kiba sighed, seeing the slightly confused look in Nozomi's eyes. "Parks are the best place for boys to be kidnapped. Trust me, I know. My best friend disappeared while we were at the park together. And well, I'd like to return you to the hospital at the end of the day, alright?" He asked, ruffling the blonde boy's hair as they began walking.

Nozomi nodded, now understanding why Kiba suggested that they'd hold hands. Since the volunteer looked like a well-built young man, not many people would try to cause harm to him or Nozomi. It seemed like a pretty reasonable thought, but there was probably something that Kiba was nervous about.

Mentally shrugging, Nozomi decided to keep from asking. If the hospital volunteer was going to get annoyed or something, then he didn't want to take the chance to ask. That would only give evidence to the rumor, which he really wanted to end.

As soon as Kiba looked up from the younger boy, he noticed the two men standing by a tree about twenty yards from them. One had an emotionless glare, while the other one seemed to be secretly and evilly happy. The green haired man froze suddenly, but gently pulled the blonde into the direction that they had been going.

"So, what do you want to see first?" Kiba asked, putting on the smiling face while he kept one eye behind them. Sure enough, the men began following. "There's the pond, the picnic area, the hills... and even a baseball diamond over there. You can watch the children play."

Nozomi felt a bit nervous. He was tempted to look back, since that was where the feeling was focused, but he didn't. Maybe he was just afraid because Kiba had mentioned that parks were the best places for kidnapping to take place. Maybe the nervousness was just a paranoia.

Almost immediately, he began writing his answer. I think the pond would be a nice place to go to, he wrote, trying to hide his anxiety. I'd like to see if there are any birds floating on the water. He was sure that Kiba would know what was going on in his mind, but he didn't really mind. He had a right to be anxious.

"Okay, sure." Kiba smiled, leading Nozomi farther down into a huge mob of other pedestrians. Twisting and turning his way around, they finally emerged on the other side right next to a park bench over-looking the pond. "We can sit here if you like." Kiba motioned, leading the young blonde down towards the seat.

After a little while, the two men did not appear from the mob. The young man could only guess that they had gotten lost or given up. They were safe, for now.

Nozomi stared at the pond and the birds that were floating on the water. His mind had always been focused on the swans, which were silent yet beautiful. Of course, all the other birds, the ducks and geese, were silent and beautiful, but not so as the swans.

It was so hard to believe. Everything had looked exactly like the pictures that Mother had took and shown him. Before today, the pictures had been enough, but now he was actually seeing everything with his own eyes. He didn't have to imagine everything moving.

Kiba looked out at the lake, taking in its serene calm and beauty. The swans had always been his favorite, and he soon realized that Nozomi also took a liking to them as well.

"You like the swans? They're one of the most beautiful creatures on this earth." The young man explained, stroking Nozomi's hair thoughtfully like a parent. "Have you ever read the story 'The Ugly Duckling'?" Kiba asked, looking down at the young blonde. "It's the story about a swan."

Nozomi shook his head, but he was very interested. What's in that story? he wrote, looking up at Kiba with questioning eyes. It sounds like it has to do with discrimination or isolation. The title seemed to hint that, and he was somewhat skilled in finding hints in titles as long as they aren't too short.

Nozomi stiffened and looked away when he realized his question. Kiba looked a bit sad earlier, so why ask him a question nearly too soon? It was just going to bother him, right?
PostPosted: Thu Apr 01, 2010 1:34 pm

"Actually, yes." Kiba smiled quietly, looking out at the lake again. "There once was a mother duck. She had many beautiful ducklings, most of them very good at swimming and such. However, she had one who wasn't as good as the rest. He was an ash gray compared to the other's soft yellow color. His voice wasn't as pretty as the other's as well. His mother loved him dearly though, because he was her son. But the other animals of the lake disliked him highly.

"He was pushed around, bullied, and left-out by all of his brothers and sisters. Soon, when it was time for the Winter Migration, they even left him behind. The ugly duckling didn't know what else to do, so he curled up in a log and fell asleep. When he woke up, it was Spring. And when he looked into the water, he saw the reflection of a beautiful creature. In fact, the ugly duckling was a swan. He got stuck with the wrong family." Kiba sighed. The story used to remind him of himself, but after looking at Nozomi's paperwork, the story fitted them both evenly.
