Meeting Pyren
Retta pressed her ear against the door and listened intently for any signs that Haze was still awake. The Mishap knew she was to be having her "beauty sleep" as well, but how could she fall asleep now that she had the mobility to explore on her own? It didn't mean that she would charge into things unknown, oh no, that was far too much work. She just wanted a quick peek around the HQ without Haze's annoying chatter in the background.
Satisfied that her guardian was truly asleep, Retta tiptoed over to the door that led outside into the second floor where the rest of the bedrooms were. She stood as tall as she could, using her tail to maintain balance and reached for the knob. It wasn't as high as she expected it, and she managed to twist it open quietly.
The creak from the door sounded like an explosion to Retta, and she cringed visibly, hoping that Haze hadn't heard it through the wood. A few moments of silence passes by and Haze quietly exits the room, making sure that Crimson didn't follow.
"No, you here. Keep Haze busy." she instructed in a low voice, patting the puff gently.
Crimson pouted and whimpered, but nodded, the last thing he wanted was to get his owner into trouble.
Retta slipped out and closed the door behind her. Where will she head to now?

Shane was in the kitchen as Pyren slept, making himself a late night snack. He hadn't left Pyren's side this entire time until now because he was getting to be very hungry. He made himself a quick cup of tea and grabbed some cookies. As he made his way back from the kitchen to Pyren's part of the room, he didn't notice that during his mad dash back to the room, he'd left the front door open.
When Shane got into Pyren's room, he sat back down on the floor next to Pyren's crib, and kept an ever watchfull eye on the sleeping baby. Usually just making sure he was still breathing, but he'd also periodically touch Pyren's forehead lightly to check if his fever had gone down or not. Since Shane had given Pyren the medicine though, it really hadn't. Shane was starting to get very worried about Pyren's condition.

Outside, the HQ was very quiet and still, just as she had hoped. Too many people meant too many questions she would have to answer. She stood awkwardly in the doorway, fiddling with the hem of her sleeve as she wandered about the second floor trying to find something interesting.
Her brown eyes noticed a slim shaft of light coming from one of the bedroom doors and curious, headed towards the source. She peered through the small gap in the doorway, noticing a man seated beside a crib. Was he a guardian like Haze? Or was he like her, a Mishap?
Perhaps she had leaned onto the door too hard, but it creaked wider.
((dark could you remove your sig? n.n thanks))

Shane quickly looked up from Pyren's sleeping figure to the entranceway. The shape of the room prevented him from seeing if the door really had creaked open. However, he leaned back a bit until he could see Retta's small figure peeping into the room.
Shane was a little surprized by the Mishap's sudden appearance, but he welcomed her company at this lonley hour of the night. However, he was still curious as to why the little Mishap was up at this hour in the first place.
"Hello there." Shane quietly greeted Retta "What brings you here little one? Shouldn't you be asleep?" he questioned her conversationally.
Pyren stirred in his sleep a bit at the sound of Shane's voice. In his feverish state, his sleep was refreshing, but very light.

Retta froze in horror as the door opened wider and Shane caught her looking into the room. She stood in the doorway, brown eyes wide in a mixture of guilt and fear.
"I sorry..." she bleated, "I go now if you want..."

"Well, I'm sure your mommy would be worried about you if you stayed around for too long wouldn't she? Why are you up at this hour anyhow?" Shane inquired the little mishap. He didn't mind her staying around, but he just wanted to make sure that nobody was looking for her or if she'd run away or something. He wasn't going to be the one to harbour a refugee Mishap.
The sound of two different voices talking, woke Pyren from his sleep with a loud yawn and he looked up sleepily at Shane through the bars in his crib, and caught a glimpse of Retta and wondered who she was.
"Oh, so you're up now are you Pyren." Shane said, picking the boy up out of his crib. "Feeling any better?" he asked, fully knowing that Pyren probably couldn't answer.

Retta looked uncomfortable, she didn't know whether she should lie and keep appearances the way Haze told her to, or if she should tell the truth and look bad.
"I no can sleep." A half-truth, "Looking 'round."
She stayed in the doorway, canting her head sideways to get a better view of Pyren. "He no feel good?" she asked curiously. She hadn't gotten sick before and wondered what it was like to be ill.

"Yeah." Shane replied to Retta with a sigh "Pyren fell in some water today and that made him sick. I think he just needs to be warm and dry though."
Shane picked up Pyren in his arms and then carried him over to the kitchen, set him in his chair, and began rummaging through the fridge for something for Pyren to eat. He eventually came across a carton of orange juice that he put in a bottle to give to Pyren. Shane figured that something acidic may help Pyren to feel better.
Pyren's stomach still felt iffy and he was still pretty weak and dizzy due to his fever, but he managed to chug his juice without much trouble. The juice didn't help him as much as Shane thought it would, but it did help Pyren's dizzyness quite a bit. When he was able to concentrate enough, Pyren started to stare at Retta, wondering who she was as he chugged down his drink.
Shane didn't take much notice of this though, he figured it was only natural for Pyren to be currious.
"Would you like something to eat too? A snack may help you get to sleep." Shane sugested to Retta.

"Water no good?" The sheep mishap bleated, her brown eyes wide in curiosity. She knew water could be too hot or too cold, but she never thought it could get someone sick.
At the offer she politely nodded, she was never one to turn down anything being given to her. "Apple juice?" she asked, her ears wiggling hopefully. Though she supposed as long as it wasn't meat, she'd be fine with anything.

"Water isn't good for Pyren." Shane corrected Retta, hoping that he hadn't instilled a a bad habit on the toddler "Same with dirt and dust; but water is the worst."
Shane was about to dispute Retta having apple juice before bed, but decided that as long as it wasn't pure cider, it wouldn't be too big of a deal. Shane remembered hearing somewhere that apples were actually a better wake up call than coffee was. Besides, Retta was too cute looking for Shane to say no to her request.
Leisurely, Shane reopened the fridge and poured some apple juice into a plastic cup for Retta and handed it to her. "Here you are little miss. What's your name by the way?" Shane inquired as he sat down at the table, nibbling on some spreadable cheese and crackers.
Pyren was more or less full of orange juice by now and let out a liquidy sounding burp, beore atempting to start up a conversation with Retta and Shane at the same time.

"Why no good for Pyren?" Retta asked as she took the cup from Shane. When prompted for her name she took a deep breath "I Kalderetta-T-Wyndre." it was quite a mouthful for the toddler.
"Retta." she stated simply, pointing to herself. Her ears flickered at the infant's burp, and turned her attention towards Pyren.

Shane was caught by the eternal toddler question. In all honesty, Shane didn't really know exactly why Pyren's body didn't get along with water so well, but he told Retta what he thought.
"Nice to meet you Miss Kalderetta-T-Wyndre-Retta," Shane teased "And I think the reason that water isn't good for Pyren is because he's made from an MP3 player, which is electrical, and electrical stuff can be overloaded with electricty if put into water." he said, hoping that Retta knew what electricity was. Probably not he guessed.
Pyren noticed that Retta was finally paying attention to him so he started chatting to her. Every now and then his voice would distort itself and just become static, though Pyren had no controll over this.

Retta tried to understand what the older person was saying but nothing quite made sense. Instead she just smiled and nodded, pretending she understood perfectly. It made her look smart and appearances were very important.
When Pyren began to speak, the sheep Mishap stared in surprise. She had never heard anyone or anything sound the way Pyren did. Was it a special language he knew? He must teach her!
"Pyren better?" she asked him, "Can Pyren say 'Retta'?" she added, thinking that her name would sound different in his own language.

Shortly after finishing his orange juice, Pyren started feeling sick again. The orange juice seemed to only be a quick fix to Pyren's illness, as he started getting dizzy again. When Pyren spoke, his voice was even more distordeted and it even cut in between his vioce. What came out of his throat sounded something like
"We....a...ZZSTS...ta!"
"Well that's not good Pyren!" Shane exclaimed with widened eyes widened at how Pyren's condition had taken such a bad turn. He figured it wasn't best for him to have got his hopes up that a little bit of orange juice would be a simple cure for near electricution.
Shane let out a sigh though, as he moved to the cuppord to grab some fever medication for Pyren. He really didn't want to have to feed the ill-tasting liquid to the boy, but it was the only thing besides warmth that had prooven usefull.
Shane sat down on a chair next to Pyren's high-chair and tried to feed him the medication while explaining to Retta in simpler terms why Pyren was sick. Shane had been around the world enough to know when people were bluffing understanding or not, and he could tell that his first explination had really confused Retta.
"Ummm...basically Pyren is allergic to water. His body doesn't like it, so it makes him very sick and speak in a strange v...Oh no Pyren!"
The boy had hit the spoon of medicine so hard that the liquid had sprung up and hit Shane's shoulder.
"N...SHHZZ..O!" Pyren cried as Shane tried to gently feed him the medication. The boy then began to protest loudly and cry in distorted and reversed waves of sound.
Shane sighed again out of exasperation and picked Pyren up out of his chair and tried to sooth the boy in his arms so that his cries wouldn't wake up the entire HQ.
"Okay okay! I'm sorry, I promised that would be the last one before. But it'll make you feel better."
Pyren was still crying a little bit now, but mainly just sobbing the word 'No' over and over again.
Shane shook his head as he turned to Retta in appology.
"The only thing that seems to make him feel better is warming him up, or giving him that aweful tasting syrup."

Retta seemed to take everything in stride, in fact she avidly watched Pyren's worsening condition with growing curiosity. There was a certain fascination the sheep Mishap had in the odd noise that was Pyren's voice.
When he began to cry, Retta couldn't help but cover her ears. Something about Pyren's voice made her fur frizz, as if she had just suffered a bad bout of static electricity. The tip of her tail poofed out in awkward angles, and she felt her teacup tingle. She had to make him stop! Her teacup might shatter if he continued to cry.
"Warm? Retta warm!" she exclaimed uncharacteristically loud, as if trying to mask over the younger mishap's sobs.
