another thing lost before it even started.
Kyla isn't meant to find anyone. thats my theory. Like those characters who perpetually get close to one person but something always blocks the conclusion. So they always end up alone for whatever reason.
Like Edward Elric. Or Batman. Or Doctor Who.

It has nothing to do with being unrequited, just that Kyle would probably go and insult you somehow without meaning to, or would just be so focused on saving his brother the world that he wouldn't pay enough attention to you romantically xD
