Man, talk about a hiatus! I haven't posted since April. Let's see...what have I been up to...
Got another quarterly report for
Magebound. It sold another 172 books, which, for a niche genre at a small press in this economy, is pretty damn good. I'll get another report by Sept. 15, but I don't think the news will be as good. I've watched
Magebound's sales decline, as shown by the drop in sales ranking. It
has been out for a year now, and I have been slacking off on promotion. I've been too busy to do much more than write and play Whack-a-Link with my pirated e-books. (******** thieving bastards. No
real fan would steal from an author. /rant)
I went over second edits with my editor for
Spellwrought, which should come out next month. I've got my fingers crossed, anyway. I finally finished editing and rewriting the third book in this series,
Memoryache, and I sent it in. I haven't heard back about it, but I'm cautiously optimistic.
The second book in my Suburban Fantasy series came out back in July.
A Visit From the Truth Faerie is now #10 in the GLBT category sat Shadowfire Press. The first book,
The Vampire Next Door, is #5 in the same category. I finished and submitted the third book,
Will Work For Blood, which is scheduled for a December or January release.
I also wrote a sequel to
Faerie Christmas tentatively called
Sparkles and Strawberries. It's a Valentines story and if accepted, will be out around February.
Faerie Christmas has climbed to #8 in the overall Bestseller list.
Unspoken is still #3 and
Slave to the Crown is #1. My Easter story,
Long Winter's End is #4 in the Fantasy category. (Can anyone tell I'm obsessed with the Bestseller List, lol)
I also wrote a fairy tale-ish story, which I'm considering entitling
The Shadow Faerie's Secret. I'm going to send that in to SFP as soon as I do a few editing passes.
Currently, I'm working on an erotic vampire story about a mage who rehabilitates a vampire who has been kept as a bleeder--a vampire imprisoned and treated worse than livestock, his blood siphoned out for medicinal and cosmetic purposes, as vampire blood heals mortals and keeps them young--for three hundred years and has lost all semblance of humanity. I just started it yesterday, but I'm loving it.
Aside from writing, I house and pet-sat for a friend for a month, I got summoned for jury duty, but didn't have to report, I still have my job with the school district even with the budget cuts, I went on a miserable camping trip for four days where I didn't get anything written, and I'm going rock-hounding on Thursday. The water level is really low in the local reservoir, exposing quartz crystals, carnelian, and petrified wood.
I think that's it for an update. I'll try not to disappear for four months again, lol.
