Ok... this is my first post herer, but it is a confession..... I am the Alto Diva that AriaStarSong was refering to.... "Yeah they gave me a "Humble" badge, but when I wore it, they took it away.." Go Di-va-ness...ummm no sweatdrop But yes... Alto 1...that pretends to be a Soprano 1 when she gets bored.... and we sing very section appropriate songs, so I don't think that I could sing tenor, except the very high notes that they sing that brush the lower part of my register..... but I do want to say that I like singing the soprano part when I'm singing alone since when you have a song stuck in your head and want to sing it, singing the harmony part is a little funky.....

Ayamechan This topic is bound to come up a lot, so why not get it out of the way first? What section do you sing in? Do you like the section that you're in? Do you wish you were (or, in some cases, were able to be) in another section? I myself am an alto (yay altos), but I sometimes have serious cases of soprano envy (as my friends call it)... or even tenor envy. eek Dude, get OUT of my head! I'm an alto, but I want to be a soprano. When my voice is in practice I can sing second soprano, but I always get stuck in the alto section. That's why when school starts again, I'll be starting out in the soprano section so they can't move me because they want me back like they did last year. I'm a strong singer and was one of three people who unofficially led our section.

Bass power up in here!!! lol. I was rated 1st chair bass in the state of Arizona last year, and I sing in two of my school's choirs as well as a semi-professional A-Cappella group called 4 & 1. My school choirs are Choralaires, a elitist group of 18 singers that sing everything from Eric Whitacre to Bach to show choir, and Honor choir, a group of 80 that sings mostly large classical works and spirituals. Then, 4 & 1 is a group of 4 guys and one girl that sing all a-cappella songs that are usually pop, R&B, and jazz. We also do some oldies.... gotta love the oldies. smile

I'm a 1st Soprano. heart I really do like my section, but sometimes my ears ring after songs with really high notes. A lot of strong singers in my choir. >_>
Sometimes I want to be an alto, because they get harmony most often, and I love singing harmony. :3

I'm an alto. It's awful because all of our experienced altos graduated the previous year and I was left with a bunch of freshman altos who were afraid to sing. And, almost worse, there was this one girl who wanted to be a soprano but just didn't have the range.. and so she was right in the midst of us and didn't bother learning the alto line.. so she threw everyone else off. And then there were a few nasty sopranos that sat pretty close to us, and would repeatedly say nasty things about the stupid freshmen altos who couldn't sing, which didn't help them at all confidence-wise.
I have had section envy. We sang a piece were the tenors had the melody, and it was absolutely lovely. They sang it quite well.

I'm Soprano 2, but I have a large range, and I can sing somewhat in Soprano 1, Alto 1 and 2, though the lower alto strains my throat. XD

I'm a mezzo but sing alto in choir because alto is more fun and hard and has all those awesome low notes. ^_^

I'm a second soprano. It's kind of hard sometimes because the firsts usually get the melody. D: But it's not so bad because we do get to sing with the firsts sometimes.
I sang alto for awhile, and I still do sometimes, because out alto section is really small, so I'll help them sometimes.

umm...I sing Alto in the Capitol District Youth Chorale, Soprano 1 in my school's Women's Choir and Jazz Choir, and Tenor in my schools Regular Choir, Symphonic Choir and Chamber Choir. I pretty much sing whatever part Gayner(Rachel Gayne) thinks is the weakest, because she says I'm really good. sweatdrop So...I dunno which banner to put in my siggie... quite the dilemma indeed! gonk
