"Maybe, everyday is different, but we can try," Kipcha said, having a place in mind to get some food. "I guess we'll start with the Farmer's Market, a lot of food is dropped all over the ground, but it's a bit dangerous..." Kipcha trailed off, not sure wether this was a good idea anymore.

Trixie was the first to awaken in the small room. She could smell the wet garbage and she felt as if she would drown in the stench. She carefully slid away from shadow and padded silently up the concrete pipe to the outside world. Once the sunlight hit her white fur she shook and stretched, feeling instantly better. She trotted off to the boundry fence and stoped to sniff when she caught a familiar scent. "Scat?" she said out loud, despite herself. She looked around carefully then scratched some mouldy food over the scent trail, she hoped shadow wouldn't find. Then she slipped under the fence and went looking for food.

Shadow woke up alone. He stretched when he was outside and sniffed at the dirty puddles. He then went to patrol his turf and look for any unwanted guests.

'Yipee!' Kaya thought. She had found a dumpster full of half eaten hamburgers. She drooled as she chomped down on a pattie. She sighed, all full now.

Silver walked through a deserted alley, passing a shard of glass as she went. She paused and cocked her head at the reflection. She had a scar over her left eye. She shook her head and continued on the hunt for food. She knew that there was a garbage can nearby. She padded swiftly and quietly her silver and white coat flashing in the light. As she walked, Silver spotted a stray cat and barked at it for the joy of watching it flee in terror. Then she saw the garbage can. It was already tipped over as though another stray had been here already. She looked around warily before digging through the garbage pile. She pulled out a bag containing a half-eaten lunch. She retrieved half a sandwich and an opened bag of chips. Shrugging, she peeled apart the plastic covering the sandwich and began to eat.

Silver finished the meal quickly and though still hungry, she moved on, sneakily rounding a corner. She halted as she spotted a couple of strays a few blocks farther up. She turned and went in the opposite direction. The last thing she needed was more competition.

Kipcha smiled at Kona's confidence, and quickly leapt off, quietly running along the sidewalks of the waking city. The Farmers Market was on the Downtown section, so it would take 30 to 45 min. at best to arrive there. When they arrived, there were few people already there, but they were the elderly types, so they shouldn't give the two strays much of a problem. Slyly, they crept along the booths, and to their enjoyment, there were peices of meat that was carelessly dropped on the ground from the day before. Kipcha took a few stray slices, and went back under the hiding protection of a table.

Kipcha looked carefully over the dog in front of her, and found herself smiling at the dog's eager playfullness. "Hello, I'm Kipcha." Kipcha's ear twitched, suddenly remembering that it was somewhat dangerous for a dog to be out in the open in the Farmer's market, "Quickly, come under the table before one of the merchants see you," Kipcha said, making room for Kaya.

Silver stopped. She watched the two dogs hide under the table and took a step towards them, but then she turned to the east and crossed the street. There was no room for her there. She looked over her shoulder at the two other strays as she padded swiftly towards a hiding place. She ducked into an empty box sitting by a building. She watched some humans come and go, tensely waiting for her chance to run.
