Poa looks to Alexander and nods, the cuteness of her voice belaying the seriousness of the situation. “We will do our utmost best Alexander to bring all your men home. You have my word.” Poa was extremely uncomfortable with the idea of slaying any of his men, even if they had crossed over. There had to be a way to cure them! She would find it! In the mean time they would simply have to incapacitate those that they ran in to that would attack them. Poa waited until Alexander was safely on his way before turning back to her own companions. “I am sorry about me endangering our lives earlier. But it is clear to me now that these people mean us harm. It is just confusing to me how a people with such a powerful understanding of magic could be so…barbaric. Let us continue to the citadel. We must prepare ourselves for more hostile conflicts.” Poa glanced about the room one more time before heading to the stairs. She would glad to be out of this room, it gave her the creeps.

Clendyx ran to get ahead of Poa, saying, "Those things cut through your shield like a butter knife. I can take a hit better. If anything wants to suprise you...it'll have to go through me first." He walked in front, climbing the stairs.

Clendyx and Poa felt there hearts suddenly get cold as something flew through them to a stair above them. "Ya'll betta show some respect, to the original MC (Master Can Opener)" 4 Co. brushed a bunch of dust off his shoulders along with a few spiders and plucked a circuit board out of his afro. "Only straight suckas jump up to get beat down, boy." 4 Co. then began ascending the staircase as though he was attached to a rail gliding up to the groups destination.

(Note to the D.M. Radryn will not be posting here for a while as he is having family issues and may be out of state. (AKA way AFK) as for my intermediate posting I'm bogged down with projects that represent large portions of my grade and need to focus on them first and foremost.)

"It has been my experience in these parts that power, even learned high magic such as this, does not in itself bring enlightenment. History points to many a great civilization that at the summit of its power, was brought down from the corruption that festered within." Van comments to Poa whilst following the group to the stairwell.

((Just so you all know. Along with Radryn and 4 Co being out of the loop for the most part I'm about to leave my post here in Korea at the end of the month. So I'm busy preparing myself for leave in April. During this time I'll be on but only when I'm able/not dead tired. Also, in April I will be getting married, so most of my time will be dedicated to that. I'll post as much as time and my fiancee permits ( mrgreen ). I hope you all understand.))

You all descend the towers in a rush, running into almost no opposition on the way down. As you all come to the very bottom of the tower you see two, great glass doors of intricate design. The doors are not locked, you notice, and swing easily open to reveal the city beyond. A great marvel of magic and art greets the assembled party. Statues of intricate, almost human perfection support perfectly carved mosaics that cover the vast majority of buildings. Stained glass makes up the majority of windows and doors, depicting great heroes (you assume) and beautiful landscapes. The city is certainly breathtaking...but preternaturally still...Suddenly, the silence is broken by the single, chest pounding ring of a distant bell...

Poa glanced about at the spectacular sights around her. However, now knowing the kind of people who inhabited it, it had lost a bit of its grandeur. Her perceived lost magical utopia had revealed itself to have a nightmare running in its framework. Though she found the lack of people about disturbing it was probably for the best. “The city appears to be empty let us continue to…” Her heart skips a beat as the bell goes off, but she continues her thought. “…let us continue to the main building. Though I do not like the sound of that bell. I can only imagine it is signaling something. We’d better hurry!”

Van is likewise drank in as much of the surroundings as he had time for, but the tolling of the bell as well as Poa's own urgings spurred him on. He silently nodded to the little witch and trotted to keep pace with her and the others.

"Everyone get under some cover! I'll bring up the rear!" Clendyx drew the glass sword and his shield, waiting for something to come out as he ran behind the others. His battle instincts told him that they might be running into a trap, but it would be better to be inside than outside. At least they could hole themselves in and meet their enemies one by one if there was a nice door they could find.

The sound of hundreds of pairs of trodding feet and excited chatter begin to fill the distant air as you watch, in abject horror, as uncountable numbers of warriors, and their families, begin to fill the area in front of the great cathedral in distance. You all dart for cover, moving from building to building as you attempt to keep out of the way of the many natives of this land. Dr. Dretzler curses at their numbers, and does his best to use the orb in order to warn you of dangers coming from behind you. It is this precaution that sets you all to arms as Dr. Dretzler's shouted "Look out!" signals trouble. You all draw your weapons and turn around as two warrior-like figures followed by another in intricate robes corner you behind a building. The two warriors shout at you in their foreign language, but the man in robes speaks calmly in perfect trade-tongue, "You do not belong here. Surrender your weapons, allow me to bind your spell-casters and come with us...Or we will be forced to deal with you in more barbaric fashions."

While certainly more reasonable, the last encounter ways heavily on your trusting natures...

Clendyx eyed the spellcaster warily, saying, "We've seen what you've done to the others. You've experimented on them, made them your personal playthings. And you value our items more than anything else, apparently. Who is to say you will not do the same to us?" He got into a battle stance, holding up the glass sword. "I do not wish to fight anyone, but you have to do a lot better than making us your prisoners if you want our trust."

"Yeah...What he said." Poa responded somewhat awkwardly. They were in no position to bargain, but after what she had saw in that room she had little reason to trust them. Alexander had warned them about the spell casters. "Hey! How do you know our language anyways?"

"Personal playthings?" He asks, looking honestly aghast at the comment, "We made them better. Gave them a new life - in a perfect land. Yes, I will admit that most tend to resist the change in the beginning but all come to except their new life, in the sheltering embrace of the Sky Lord...just as I have. I trust that that also answers your question, young miss?"

Poa pondered his comment for a moment before responding. "So... you were an outsider as well? Hey, does that mean you were part of the party that passed through the gate before us?

(Maybe we should ask to visit the Sky Lord. He'd answer the questions better.)
